Interesting. I think either Marquez will carried away and get knocked out, cuz he is getting older. Or Pacquiao will reckless, looking to get Marquez out of there and get counter punched all night long. Eating left uppercuts and over hand rights that are going to stun Pacquiao, I don’t think Marquez will knockout Manny though. The last fourth rematch I remember was Israel Vasquez VS Rafael Marquez. We all expected another bloody war, but we ended up getting a quick knockout win for Marquez. I wonder if JMM will be like his brother. Interesting, very interesting.Posted September 26, 2012 2:29 am

MANNY OVER MARQUEZ 2.25PM 9/19/2012Posted September 19, 2012 2:24 pm
@Southpaw Jack….. THERE IS a hierarchy in scoring criteria. Clean effective punching trumps every other cirteria. If you land 15 average punches to your opponent’s 9 average punches, you should win the round .. If both boxers land 9 punches of the same aggregate cleanliness and effectiveness, the boxer who takes the greatest offensive initiative during the round should win it 10-9. If the boxers display exactly the same aggression the boxer who made his opponent miss the most should win the round 10-9 on the defense criteria.. If both fighters land 9 equally effective punches, and both threw 26 punches, and both display exactly the same aggression then ring generalship comes into play. Ring generalship is defined by who controlled the ring space, distance, pace, and style of fighting. If ring generalship is also dead even in the opinion of the judge, the round is scored 10-10 … What is a clean punch? A punch with the scoring area of the glove, not the palm, sides, or back of the glove, that lands above the waist band, doesn’t land on the break, doesn’t land on the back of the head, or on the back, or on the gloves, and doesn’t land after the bell rings to end the round. What is an effective punch? A blow that lands with a clear impact that can be called a “punch” — and not with the impact of a gnat lighting on a newspaper. Some fighters deliver taps to the side during clinches, trying to score “free” points. Most judges won’t score these and they shouldn’t; they have no more effect than pattng your friend on the back. During the Olympics most punches landed don’t actually score a point, but every scored punch counts exactly the same regardless of impact.. In the pros impact is taken into consideration — if a punch staggers or hurts a boxer, the thrower should generally win the round if he’s not hurt or jarred himself in that round — even if he lands fewer punches. IMO more sloppy interpretation comes into play with judging the impact of punches than anything else.Posted September 19, 2012 2:05 pm

Frankly, I don’t see how a 4th fight would be any different from the 3rd, unless some one gets old over night. They know each other too well, have too much respect for each other, and are too evenly matched for there to be a real clear winner in a fight between the two at this point. It will be another close and frustratingly controversial fight.Posted September 19, 2012 10:24 am
gonna be a good scrap. always a good scrap with these guys.Posted September 19, 2012 10:16 am
Please Pac take him out this time and then retire! Pac’s fighting style won’t let him keep winning as he ages, he is not Bernard Hopkins fighting out of a shell, waiting for an opportunity. Pac goes for it all 12 rounds. Just take Marquez out early and go home and rest. ha haPosted September 19, 2012 10:12 am
Yeah, close enough that Morales felt the need to toy with Pacquiao in the final round by switching southpaw. He later confirmed in the post fight interview that he did that to make it more interesting. So yeah, no, it wasn’t close. Morales thoroughly beat Pacquiao up in their first fight.Posted September 19, 2012 8:30 am
Watching a fight with the sound off is the most ignorant reason to have a different scorecard at the end of the fight. You WATCH fights you don’t listen to them so it matters not what the announcers say. Stop repeating dumb excuses you’ve heard others use before. If you learn to think for yourself you won’t need to watch fights with the sound off. lol!Posted September 19, 2012 8:12 am
$9m dollars from 13k tickets sold means the average ticket price was almost $700. that doesn’t seem likely.
If you watch Manny Paciou fights you’ll notice a pattern. He bobs and weaves around ALOT throws dozens of punches at “air” and at the final 10 second mark connects with 1 weak of grazing shot which , in the words of Jim Lampley -”May have won him the round” The other guy IS connecting but the announcers don’t announce it. Its so blatant that its comical ! Just get a copy of the last fight and turn the sound off and watch it. Marquez WINS without the sound. Imagine two guys like Max Baer & Primo Carnera watching a fight today and accepting the fact that Mannny WINS a round by connecting with one half way decent punch. Thats HOW AND WHY they gave the last fight to Bradley. Harold Ledderman came up with the term “effective agression” for Paciou fights which means MANNY DIDN’T REALLY SCORE BUT LOOKED BETTER NOT DOING ANYTHING ……….Thats how he wins many rounds !!Posted September 19, 2012 7:03 am
I enjoyed the other three fights these two had in the past but I’m one of the guys who felt Marquez won the 3rd fight. It was close but there were moments when Packman seemed both tired and frustrated. Don;t be surprised if Marquez wins and wins big this time around.Posted September 19, 2012 6:49 am
You can’t call a GOD a puppet please don’t do that. Pacquaio has never voiced his opinion. Never will have respect this clown just as much I won’t give any to that baby momma beater too. At least the beater makes his own decision. Top Rank and Manny advisers don’t care at all about Manny’s rep. Mayweather has always the upper hand. Whether is the split, competition, PPV buys. Mayweather people work for him. Pacquaio’s people work for their own pockets and the retirement funds. Come to think of it Pacuqiao becomes broke before Floyd.Posted September 19, 2012 6:49 am

This fight is a JOKE. The only thing the author got right in this piece as far as I’m concern is the MONEY aspect of it. A second fight with Tim Bradley would have made PERFECT sense to the fight fans in my book. This is nonsense here. They had a choice. I feel like the author is giving Pacman/Arum a get out of jail card with this BALONEY article. First off; don’t try and act like he was trying to fight Cotto for real. That’s a LIE by the fact that PACMAN/ARUM wanted to fight Cotto at a CATCHWEIGHT. They tried to fight him at a CATCHWEIGHT BEFORE AND HE TURNED THEM DOWN; AND AFTER THE DEFEAT FROM BRADLEY THEY WENT TO HIM AGAIN WITH THE “SAME PROPOSAL AND HE TURNED THEM DOWN AGAIN”!!!!! Doesn’t sound like he was serious about fighting Cotto again to me because if he was; he would have fought him at 154. My last argument is that if Pacman felt in his heart he got ROBBED in the fight with Bradley; he would have changed that by fighting him again. History shows that when he felt he got done wrong he tried to make it right. Why is he fight Marquez again; because he felt like THE FIRST THREE WERE UNCONVINCING. Why did he rematch ERICK MORALES when they fought the first time; because HE FELT HE GOT DONE WRONG WITH THE GLOVE ISSUE. Now in front of the WHOLE WORLD; he supposedly SCHOOLED BRADLEY and BRADLEY GOT THE DECISION; BUT THEY DON’T WANT NO REMATCH. That’s a bunch of BS if I ever saw it. People WAKE UP. Arum IS TRYING TO KEEP ALL THE MONEY IN HOUSE AND MAKE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BEFORE PACMAN NUMBER IS UP WHICH FROM THE LOOKS OF IT; IT ALREADY IS!!!!!!! Pacman loses all RESPECT IN MY BOOK!!!! He is nothing more than a TOP RANK “PUPPET”!!!!!Posted September 19, 2012 5:07 am
Same morons talking crap about scoring being subjective. Well how subjective was the scoring in the Rios vs Abril fight when Rios couldn’t even one round. How subjective was the scoring in the Ward vs Froch match when Froch won five rounds in some score cards(Froch was mauled pushed back). How subjective was the scoring when Pacquaio was given more than 4 rounds against Marques which rounds did he win(He couldn’t connect)? How many rounds did Bardley win against Pacman and what was the criteria in those judges scoring the fight(Timy was backpaddling). Why the very same judges were appointed to score Pacman 5 last fights? Why did P. Willie beat Lara in the score cards but not in the public opinion? Boxing is corrupt to the core. Whichever way you view it. I won’t watch another TopWank re-run for the 3rd time. No thanks Bob “The Snake” Arum you can’t fool this bloke. The sad part is that the Pactards are the only turds who don’t realise that Pacman lost his last fight with Marques. Pacquaio knows, Roach knows, Ariza knows, Arum knows except the turds. Marques is the legend real legend he fought everyone including the champs that Pac skipped on his way to stardom. I ain’t even Mexican by the way I use to hate the “te tumbo” & “amerimexican” now please include “Chicago girl” who knows jack about boxing and who always wear racial goggles when commenting about boxing.Posted September 19, 2012 5:05 am

If they fight enough times EVENTUALLY Marquez is going to show up old. But, hopefully, JMM has one more awesome performance left in him. On my cards, JMM has squeaked out 3 victories, can he up his game and win this one decisively? Best of luck to him. That said, I’m not eager to see this fight. I really wish these two would spend the rest of his careers in NEW, more compelling fights — so later we can better judge just how good they both were.Posted September 18, 2012 7:48 pm

Many people, including me, scored the first fight 113-112 for Marquez.. Marquez won 8 rounds and lost 4 rounds, outboxing Pac most of the way after a disasterous 1st round. Winning 8 rounds to 4 would normally be a score of 116-112, but because he got knocked down 3 times in the 1st round. That round should rightfully be scored 10-6 instead of 10-9, so that’s how you end up with 113-112 …. The second fight Marquez won 7 rounds to 5, normally a 115-113 score but the knockdown lopped another point off JMM”s score, so he won 114-113 …. The 3rd fight Pacquiao landed more punches, but Marquez’s shots did more damage and landed more solidly for certain. There were some tremendous connects from JMM. That fight should rightfully have been scored 116-112 for Marquez and it’s hard to come up with another score …. This time I expect Pacquiao to finally pull his act together and win the fight outright with a KO performance. I think he’s really pissed off because he suspects he lost all 3 of their fights and could never get his superfighter persona kicked into gear …. If at first you don’t suceed, try, try try again. This is the 3rd and last try again — so he’s maniacally determined to put JMM down and out.Posted September 18, 2012 7:01 pm
A FOREIGN ATHLETE GETTING 62 MILLION DOLLARS IN A U.S. IS SOMETHING.
A DIFFERENCE OF 23 MILLION DOLLARS SHOULD NOT BE A CONCLUSION THAT FMJ IS BIGGER THAN PAC.
FMJ IS A NATIVE OF AMERICA AND HIS FAN BASE IS IN U.S. ALONE WHERE PAC HAS 50 PERCENT OF BOXING FANS ADMIRING HIM.
PAC IS AN INTERNATIONAL ICON, HAS A HUGE FAN BASE IN CENTAL AND SOUTH AMERICA WHERE FMJ HAS NO NAME.
POPULARITY OF PAC SPREAD WIDELY IN EUROPE AND ASIA WHERE FMJ HAS ONLY LESS THAN 1 PERCENT.
BUYERS OF PPV IN THESE AREA WHERE PAC HAS A HUGE FOLLOWING GOES AT 70 PERCENT AND IN THE U.S. THE REMAINING 30 PERCENT WHERE PAC AND FMJ EVENLY SPLIT THEIR SHARES.
IF YOU WILL DO SOME MATH HERE. PAC PPV SHARE SHOULD BE 80 PERCENT, THE LEAST, AND FMJ THE REMAININGING 20 PERCENT, THE MOST.Posted September 18, 2012 6:53 pm

Pacquiao avenged the loss to Morales coming off a loss, not to mention Erik schooled Manny coming off a loss as well and they fought a meaningless 3rd fight when Terrible lost 2 in a row..anyways, I pick Marquez not only to school him but beat Pacman up pretty good as well, maybe even stop him in the later rounds..Posted September 18, 2012 5:22 pm

Jess, I am a fan of boxing…period. I am a huge fan of both Marquez and Pacquiao. I have a great relationship with a lot of fighters, trainers, promoters, managers, etc. But, I understand the flaws in the current system of scoring. There are several flaws in scoring a prizefight. It’s very subjective and can be interpreted many different ways…so to hear someone say so adamantly, “He was robbed” or “this fighter defintely outboxed his opponent” always makes me laugh. The truth is absolute…and boxing is anything but.Posted September 18, 2012 3:27 pm

I WANT TO MAKE THIS FIGHT SHORT. I WANT TO KNOCK HIM OUT.” Yes, he will knock Marquez out for sure. Roach says he believes Manny Pacquiao can END the argument on December 8th if he is unleashing the “PRIMAL TOUGHNESS” he saw in Manny Pacquiao many years ago. Roach says, “Technically, we can’t outbox this guy, so we have to outfight him…I don’t want the nice Manny Pacquiao, touching gloves with the other guy and everything. That drives me crazy. You can’t be friends out there.” Roach is right! I can see Manny was too nice to his opponents for the past several years, and Manny knew that. Manny even asked Margarito while Margarito’s face was in mess that, “Are you ok? Are you ok” That kind of friendliness and kindness must be left outside the ring. And yes, Manny is leaving that friendliness and kindness outside the ring this time by saying that he will go back to the other Manny Pacquiao when he was 24, 25 years old. Surely, Manny is coming to settle the argument by coming to KNOCK Marquez OUT this time.Posted September 18, 2012 2:07 pm
JMM is 40 years old now. He is a shell of what he used to be. No way will i buy this garbage when there are so many better fights for pacquiao. And i buy just about all PPV fights anyways, but Bob Arum’s fights for Pacquiao are becoming a joke now. In the last 5 years Pac has not fought a great young fighter in his prime coming off of a impressive win until he lost a close decision to Bradley. Bob and Pacquiao know JMM is the easier fight compared to Bradley who is still undefeated and in the prime of his career. What does pacquiao gain by finally beating a 40 yr old washed up fighter. No diss to Marquez as he is a boxing legend in the lower weight class. JMM has not looked good at all fighting over 140 lbs with the exception of the last Pacquiao fight. I think all of the devoted, and dedicated boxing fans are getting tired of these garbage pacquiao fights. He never wants the best fights only fights where he would be the prohibitive favorite. I would pay for the Bradley rematch, and to see if Manny could get his belt back. But of course Bob and Manny picked the easier fight.Posted September 18, 2012 1:53 pm
This time, Manny Pacquiao says, “I want to be the other Many Pacquiao, like when I was 24, 25 years old. I want people who watch this fight to be satisfied. I don’t care about a belt. I don’t care about the money. I want the win.” Wow, Wow, Wow! Marquez will be in HUGE trouble and be humiliated on December 8th. Manny Pacquiao is going back to the ferocious, relentless style of fighting that made him an eight-division champion, “The Killer Instinct” style. Can’t wait to see that!!!Posted September 18, 2012 1:51 pm
Lighten up, Tark…there’s only one way to truly secure a victory in this sport, and that with your own two judges…the left and the right fist.
Pugilism is so subjective that you can make a solid case for anyone winning a fight who matches or exceeds the workrate of his opponent. Judges don’t have the benefit of compubox stats or instant replay…everything is seen from the same angle. There are no actual robberies in boxing…merely different interpretations of the action. That’s why I’ve always preferred the Heavyweight division because we see more knock-outs among the big men.
Even at the highest level of the smaller weight classes, there will always be controversial decisions.
But ask yourself this: can any football or basketball team ever comeback during the final minute of action after being down 44 to 0? Chavez almost did on Saturday night…boxing is a flawed sport, but it creates tremendous drama unmatched in any other pastime.
If Marquez wants to secure a victory during part IV, maybe he should either think about knocking out Pacquiao or at least outworking him…if Marquez doesn’t do one of those two things, then he ultimately runs the risk of losing another decision.Posted September 18, 2012 1:48 pm

@DAROOKIE, To you, Manny Pacquiao lost to Marquez three times, BUT to the entire WORLD, Manny Pacquiao BEAT Marquez TWO TIMES and TIED ONCE. And Manny will BEAT Marquez again for the THIRD TIME by a way of Stone-Cold KO this December 8th.Posted September 18, 2012 1:46 pm
Cherry Picking at its finest come on is there no one besides a 39 year old man to fight boring.Posted September 18, 2012 1:45 pm
This is the right fight to take, Manny knows he lost last time to Marquez, so rematching him is the decent choice. He completely outclassed Bradley- no need for a rematch and it would be ludicrous for Bradley to make millions of dollars for losing (despite getting a corrupt decision.) This is a class choice by Manny.Posted September 18, 2012 1:44 pm
People all over the world LOVE Manny Pacquiao, except a few Marquez’s fans and Mayweather’s fans. Manny Pacquiao is not only the MOST FAMOUS PERSON in Philippines, but also in the entire continent of ASIA. He is also one of the RICHEST persons in Philippines. In addition, Manny is also the MOST SEARCHED MAN in the entire world., more than President Obama; any presidents; any kings; any athletes; and anybody.Posted September 18, 2012 1:40 pm
Herron says… “Pacquiao getting schwantzed in Vegas against Bradley has given every Marquez fan hope that JMM will finally be victorious on December 8th” ..I don’t believe that and I’m a big Marquez fan. I’ve pulled for JMM in every Pacquiao fight.. If you’re a fair minded fan you hate decisions like this no matter which fighter gets shafted. It definitely lowers credibility and interest for a certain number of fans when boneheaded, incompetent, or flat out corrupt decisions seem to be a tradition of the sport.Posted September 18, 2012 1:34 pm
Its Me, Ernie
Tark lost as usual. :roll:Posted September 18, 2012 1:30 pm
It’ll sell, and it’ll sell well. People will want to see one or the other dominate. Besides, this will be the final match between the two. Right?Posted September 18, 2012 1:12 pm
CARLOS EL GUAPO
I think that Pac and JMM are really good buddies and neither really considers their fights to be grudge fights. Packy
Well stated, Joe!!Posted September 18, 2012 10:45 am
Tark, I think Pacquiao getting schwantzed in Vegas against Bradley has given every Marquez fan hope that JMM will finally be victorious on December 8th…I love it that they’re getting together again!!Posted September 18, 2012 10:38 am
JMM trades with Pacquiao for 12 rounds. Which other boxer will do this? Will Floyd do that? 2 of the greatest boxers of this generation in a toss-up slugfest. Sinko? You call that money in the bank!Posted September 18, 2012 10:38 am

Wow!!! A cool $23 million more than Pac. Incredible, thxs for the fast reply. That shows to me why Floyd says no 50/50, he’s just used to making huge amounts of cash for fighting. Well it is, ‘prize fighting ‘.Posted September 18, 2012 10:22 am
The muddy situation with judging appointments for major fights is beginning to ding the interest of fans worldwide.. Especially when Boxing puts together a 5 panel group of “expert” judges to unanimously throw dirt on the Pacquiao-Bradley decision–basically reiterating that the decision was hogwash.. Why should any other decision be any better if you can’t appoint top judges for such an important fight??? Another situation was the commission suspending the 3 judges for the Williams-Lara fight for a shorter period than they’d often be between judging jobs anyway. That was ridiculous—just fire them. I mean, why would you select Duane Ford to judge Pacquiao-Bradley when he’s been in so much trouble before after some of his ludicrous round scoring, such as the 12th round of the first Hopkins-Taylor fight when he was called on the carpet by the commission to review and explain his scoring for that decisive round??? He basically said, “I blew it.” ..They basically said, “That’s OK Duane, just do better next time.” It’s kind of like hiring Victor Conte to be your ethics consultant … Fans basically know judging is crooked, but the Boxing powers that be refuse to do a damned thing to change that perception. Most Mexican fans think Pacquiao will win Pacquiao-Marquez IV unless Marquez wins 10 rounds decisively, or scores a KO. Most Filipino fans fear that Pacquiao will get robbed again as happened in the Bradley fight. Some of these fans will keep their money in their pocket rather than pay for corrupt and heart-breaking results that are controlled by officials who may have a financial interest in the outcome.Posted September 18, 2012 10:21 am

Col, that’s what makes this match-up so great…both fighters have never avoided the best opposition available in any weight division. Pacquiao and Marquez are both tough legends of the sport who always show up for a fight. Love both of these fighters…they never disappoint!!Posted September 18, 2012 10:02 am
Marquez is always a difficult match for Pacquiao, but Manny’s not afraid of a challenge, unlike a certain someone.Posted September 18, 2012 9:56 am
To me, Pacquiao has already defeated Marquez 3 times. He will do so again in December.Posted September 18, 2012 9:50 am
