It’s not really important what Wilder did as an amateur.. He was a guy with no fights — fighting guys with over a hundred fights.. He was a babe in the woods who shouldn’t have even gotten that far.
What’s important is for him to get rounds and top pro fighters to face him.. He’s had tons of sparring with great heavyweights.. But he needs to have those quality opponents to round out his skills.Posted October 16, 2013 10:25 pm
Gold hahhahha…I meant bronze.Posted October 16, 2013 9:48 pm
Wilder didn`t deserve that gold medal. They robbed his QF opponent by giving Wilder 2 points for nothing with 10 seconds left to put him in the lead.
Then the other guy STILL came back to get it to a draw.
This guy being a fat little moroccan that Anthony Joshua pounded the crap out of without breaking a sweat.Posted October 16, 2013 9:48 pm
Idiot Ernie.., Funny as a wildfire burning down your neighborhood.Posted October 16, 2013 7:03 pm
This dipstick would rather Wlad fight some other HW contender with a mediocre KO percentage. Lets face it, the only way Wlad can lose is by KO. I can’t even remember the last time he lost a round.Posted October 16, 2013 6:02 pm
Deontay is coming.., He’s having trouble getting a contender like Arreola, Fury, or Jennings to share a ring with him … Getting a big bomber appropriate fights is ALWAYS a problem unless he’s the champ.
If his chin was so weak — and his defense was so weak — you wouldn’t have Wladimir and Haye comment on what a tough, speedy, hard puncher he is.
Wladimir would like face Wilder right now, rather than in 2 years… Deontay knows he needs to fight a couple good tough 10 or 12 round fights… He has the endurance — because he’s done it in the gym with several spar mates.
That doesn’t count… You need to go 12 in an actual fight.Posted October 16, 2013 5:50 pm

Lennox summed it up beautifully the other day when he stated that wilder is not well-schooled in boxing, as evidenced by his wild, looping punches. He may be another price in that he is shooting himself in the foot by knocking guys out rather than building up valuable experience. Price does look to have the better pedigree of the two though. Would have been nice to have some footage of wilder/haye sparring back along. Then we’d see what wilder could actually do against a good opponent. I know its only sparring but they spoke very highly of each other afterwards.Posted October 16, 2013 2:02 pm

Someone tell me how in the Hell Wilder got ranked #3 by the WBC #6 by WBA and #12 by the IBF?! Something smells……………….he hasn’t fought anyone in the top 50!
Vitali and Vlad had to fight their way up the ladder. Vlad was fighting much better fighters shortly after he turned pro. Wilder plans to fight bums, then after Vitali retires he will be given the WBC belt or perhaps fight Sconiers for the belt. Perhaps he will fight a woman? Afterall, it so appears that he has beaten, at least’ one. Wilder refused to fight Thompson, he won’t fight Jennings or Arreola either…………I think Wach would knock Wilder out! Wach is 6 feet 8 inches tall, 250 pounds, has a chin made out of granite, can go the distance. Hell, he was one inch taller than Vlad who is only 6 feet 7 inches tall. And yes, Vlad was 6 feet 7 inches tall when he was an amateur. When he fought Austin he was taller, Austin is 6 feet 6 inches tall, so was Derrick Jefferson, McCline etc., watch as he faced them in the ring. Vitali has always been 6 feet 8 inches tall. HBO had Vlad as being 6 feet 5, so when Vlad fought Bostice at MSG, face to face, Jim Lampley said that Vlad looked to be,at least 2 inches taller? The height does not really mean that much anyway because Klitschkos do not really care about height, they have nothing to prove, the haters can say the Klitschkos are midgets and they would care less.
Vitali is not a proven steroid taker, not by a long shot. Vitali and Vlad have always been at pretty much the same weight all these years. The only kind of steroid Vitali has had was a shot for a foot injury he got from kick boxing who was not a sports medicine specialist. You can’t even take a nose spray with steroids in it. There was no anabolic steroid and everyone knows it. I have never seen any boxer’s hated in America as much as Vitali and Vlad. I do know the “Real” reason of the hatred and so do most…………Posted October 16, 2013 2:07 am
Vitali is clearly the GOAT of beating up short fat guys and blown up cruisers, I will give him that. He struggled with Timo, he lost to an out of shape lewis. He has avoided opponents over 6’5 and over his whole career. Styles make fights take away Vitali’s height/reach advantage and it becomes a much harder fight for him.Posted October 16, 2013 1:59 am

I think it is too early for Wilder to tackle WK. Despite haters saying how ” bad” WK is, the fact is there is nearly no one to challenge him. So what all the haters are really saying is that all the fighters out there are pussies. and the HW division is sitting around with a lousy champion, coz there ain’t nobody out there beating Wladimir, the lousy champion. I think the champ is being very polite to Deontay when points out that Deontay hasn’t fought too many skilled fighters, and therefore is likely not ready for the champion of the world. Despite what the haters say, I think the champ knows what he is talking about. The champ says for Deontay to get more skills, more experience before getting in the ring for the championship. I think a better fight would be Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury, David Haye, Manuel Char, the list goes on. Of course that is assuming Deontay wants to fight to the top.Posted October 15, 2013 11:08 pm

Michael Spinks, defeated a hell of a fighter (ATG) (close bouts) 2x to become HW Champ he actually defended those belts on what 3 or 4 occasions… Spinks was 6″3 to Tyson’s 5″10 so Mike had no real physical advantage, Mike Spinks is one of the GREATEST LHW’s to ever do it… Juxtapose that with the Klits beating Adamek who Vitali dwarfed by every measure and never accomplished anything of great note at HW.. Or Wlad going 12 with Haye who he dwarfed and who beat Valuev for the title…. Tyson’s RAPID dispatch of a GREAT fighter like Spinks trumps the Klits wins of guys coming up in weight by a countrymile…Posted October 15, 2013 11:32 am

If watching the Klits is your thing then I’m cool with that, just don’t expect all of us to be excited about them fighting bum after bum. Wlad last fight was appalling. I think there is some good heavys out there, but the issue is they are being brought on too slowly. I dont know if their promotors are waiting on the brother’s retirement. Widler, Pulev, Fury, Helenius, and Price (when he gets his act together) all offer interesting options for the brothers. Haye vrs Vitali would still sell well. I know that these fighters probably wouldnt beat the K brothers but if you compare them to the likes, of Panieta, Wach, Thompson, Mormek, Peter, Chambers, Briggs and Snosnowski, who have all been gifted title shots in the past few years, their names offer more interest to fight fans. The big one for me is to put the brothers in there with fighters who are phisically bigger than them. Wilder is doing OK..
Wladimir admits he really didn’t learn how to box until he was stopped 3 times and after he was coached by Steward for a few years.., “Vitali is a natural boxer. He was born to box. I had to learn the hard way.”
Wilder had very light experience when he became an Olympic Medalist. He wasn’t expected to go anywhere, or even win the USA Olympic Boxoff … His situation was similar to Dominic Breazeale, our latest American Heavyweight Olympic representative..
Our amateur boxing programs are relics of the 1970’s.. Many countries have better funding for amateur boxing than the USA, and their training facilities and coaching programs are state-of-the-art compared to our 20th Century fumblings.
However, 29 KO victories in 29 pro fights, and crushing a former Heavyweight Champion who went 9 rounds Bryant Jennings is nothing to belittle. Wilder needs world ranked contenders to step up and fight him … As soon as that happens the next step is Wladimir.Posted October 14, 2013 11:44 pm
The Heavyweight division is so dead Wladimir just made 20MM for fighting a guy who’s been avoiding him for 4 years… Lewis has been offered 50MM to make a comeback.. The Wladimir-Pulev fight might set a new record for revenues in Europe.
The 3 biggest and richest boxing matches in the history of Europe and Asia have taken place in the last 3 years — one in Germany… one in Poland… and one in Russia.
Heavyweight Boxing is doing OK if it can keep breaking records.Posted October 14, 2013 11:23 pm

Deontay Wilder and Hughie Fury are two of my favorite heavyweights. They’re always in shape and they fight often. Hughie’s up for his 12th bout this year, and Deontay has averaged 7 fights per year for the last two years. Donte: Where are your sources or where can one google: ” Wladimir knocked Wilder down in sparring at least once and hurt him on another occasion. He also dropped Richard Towers heavily with a big left hook. Towers didn’t have a clue what hit him and he had to be helped up and escorted out of the ring. Wlad also dropped Sam Sexton heavily too, badly shattering his nose into pieces in the process.Posted October 14, 2013 9:12 pm
Only excitement would be a Hay in a rematch no one wants to see Wlad Johnny Ruiz Klitschko.Posted October 14, 2013 9:12 pm
I love how a rematch with former HW titleholder and unified CW champ David Haye would be considered “a waste of time” but we’re supposed to get excited about seeing Wilder fight Wladimir. This is a guy who’s last 3 opponents have a combined age of almost 115 and who have 19 losses between them. I know the Americans are crying out for a real heavyweight but surely they can do better than this.Posted October 14, 2013 8:43 pm
Only wilder or pulev are the only hw that can beat vlad. Wilder has a bigget punch. Pulev is a more complete fighter. With that said vlad by ud against both guys.Posted October 14, 2013 8:29 pm
We`ve established that Wilder wasn`t able to KO the 134lb Las Vegas hooker he was arguing with.
She was laughing at how he couldn`t pay her the $100 he owed, he tried to punch her missed and fell into the wardrobe.
Those who say the HW division is drowning or dead are right….and it’s not because there are no good HWs out there….it’s because no on has a chance against the vastly superior Ks…..they are just too physical, cerebral and dominant.Posted October 14, 2013 8:15 pm
TARK shut up you talk so much crap toilets are jealous of you.Posted October 14, 2013 7:59 pm
Truth teller and iman, yall both right wilder needs two beat at least 2 top 10 fighters to take him serious. I would love wilder to be the next american heavyweight, but needs to be tested. Once he can crush a couple of top fighters we can talk business.Posted October 14, 2013 7:51 pm
TARK Maybe you didn’t know it but Patterson’s manager Cus D’Amato, was dead against Floyd facing Liston. When Floyd asked for the Liston fight Cus frankly told him, “YOU CAN’T BEAT LISTON!” Cus agreed but insisted that ‘rematch clause’ be included in the contract, stipulating that Patterson would receive the LARGER share.Posted October 14, 2013 7:45 pm
Stiverne and Pulev don’t stand a chance against either Klitschko.Posted October 14, 2013 7:15 pm
wilder needs to fight at least 1 live body first. 2 fighters should be next Stiverne and Pulev than Fury and or Haye. In fact I think both Klitchkos fear Stiverne and are wary of PulevPosted October 14, 2013 6:58 pm
* puncher’s chancePosted October 14, 2013 6:52 pm
Why not, can’t be worse than his last couple of fights….At least he is tall, has a longer reach and a punch….he has a punches chance, if he has a chin…Posted October 14, 2013 6:51 pm
Wilder doesn’t deserve a shot at Wlad THE Man. He has to beat someone who isn’t a zombie opponent.Posted October 14, 2013 6:49 pm
Swede, povetkin was wlads 15th successful defencePosted October 14, 2013 6:40 pm
Wilder is a windmilling clown with matchstick legs who trips over his own feet, he has beaten noone even vaguely recognisable who doesn`t already have multiple KO defeats.
One of the other guys in the sparring camp when Wlad was sparring Wilder said “Wlad has Wilder up and down more than Haydens panties”.
They called him Yo-Yo in camp because he was always up and down and stumbling about like a baby giraffe who’s done 20 litres of Tequila slammers.
Goldenboy know this – they are waiting to cash him out as big as they can. It`s goldenboy who asked for the Sconiers fight to be taken off of youtube.Posted October 14, 2013 6:23 pm
Swedish Boxing Fan
There are several heavyweights out there for Wladimir Klitschko. I mean Except undefeated strong hitter Deontay Wilder, we have top regarded heavyweight names like Kubrat Pulev, Tyson Fury, Tomasz Adamek, Robert Helenius, Bermaine Stiverne, Chris Arreola, Odlanier Solis and Dennis Boytsov so there are at least 8 quality fights left. Wladimir Klitschko have made 14 world title defences in 7 years and have 6 more down the road to tie title defence record with legend Larry Holmes’s level of 20 title defences. Only Joe Louis with his 25 are the higher and best. Well we will probebly never sadly see Wladimir fighting Solis, Arreola or Adamek.Posted October 14, 2013 6:19 pm
Wilder, Pulev, Fury, and then resign.Posted October 14, 2013 6:04 pm
Waldimir is far too good for anyone right now and only real chance to beat him is by puncherscchance. So why not put him in with the biggest puncher around?? We all knew pov only had a punchers chance and is he a big puncher??? Well waldimir will most probably ko wilder but for entertainment value And for a chance of a big upset wilder is the man. I know wilder don’t deserve a shot but half of waldimirs defences have been against un deserving guys.Posted October 14, 2013 6:02 pm
Wilder is still too green for Wlad. He really needs to start stepping up in competition before I declare him anything other than another American Heavyweight hype job. Let’s see him beat Arreola or someone else in the top ten before we even talk about him getting a title shot. If he fights Wlad now he’ll probably end up like Michael Grant did against Lewis.Posted October 14, 2013 5:36 pm
If Wilder faces let alone KO’s 2 guys in the top 10, give him a shot..Posted October 14, 2013 5:28 pm
… “The boxing community is not in favor of a Wladimir-Haye rematch, proposing that it would be a waste of time for everyone.”
Patterson fought a rematch with Sonny Liston.. There wasn’t a lot of reason to — since Patterson was a complete washout in both fights.
If Haye puts himself into another position for a title shot… he should get the shot… It’s as simple as that.
Wilder needs fights with guys guys who can last many rounds, like Arreola and Jennings… Those fights need to be pursued and nailed down by his team at all costs.. His management team need to put an appropriate amount of money out there for those guys to take such a huge risk with a lights out puncher.
Deontay is doing his job.. They have to start doing their job.Posted October 14, 2013 5:22 pm
Why not. Feed another class “C” fighter to Klitchko.Posted October 14, 2013 5:16 pm
I understand Wlad basically cleaned out 2 eras of heavyweights but there ate guys he hasn’t fought yet who are a better option. I guess he might be trying to be back on US TV and maybe fight there too
As for Wilders sake Grant and pre Sanders Wlad were more ready for Lewis than Wilder is for Wlad. Wilder needs to beat like an Adamek or Solis Or Jennings type to earn something
Terrible management move unless they think Wilder will bust at any moment and they have to take the payday now if not everPosted October 14, 2013 5:05 pm
