Lara should be fighting canelo who go running scared to fight a 140 lb fighter…this two guys going to war, cotto fighting Austin throut and canelo fighting lower weight classes or retired fighters..that’s a shame for boxing..

big step up for Garcia and a dangerous challenge for Salido. IMO, the one thing Garcia lacks is a breakaway degree of ferocity or killer-instinct. nonetheless, he’s a lethal puncher who can seriously dent even Salido’s durable chin. in fact, i had assumed that it would be Garcia who would finally expose Lopez. Salido is gonna bring that old-school grit and territoriality that will compel him to defend his recently-acquired turf. i don’t see how this fight can go the distance but it will be very good while it lasts. meanwhile, Lara has benefited from the Cuban “mystique” and is overrated. i think they’re evenly matched but the winner will relegate the other to perennial contender status. IMO, that contender will be Lara.

Wrong, Pro…Emanuel and Golden Boy Promotions had negotiated a contract for K9 to sign after his defense against Spinks and the current IBF Champ turned it down. K9 left Emanuel Steward shortly after the incident and is now rumored to be negotiating a deal with Lou DiBella to fight Andre Berto at 154 pounds in November.

Solid event. It’s a stak contrast to the garbage Al Haymon puts on HBO. Funny, everyone else has to fight tough fights, but Haymon’s fighters all fight bums on a regular basis.

great card… top notch! Can’t decide which fight I look forward to more. Lara vs Martirosyan is a showcase of two top technicians, and Salido vs Garcia should be an all out war… Can’t wait!!!

If anything Lara should be fighting K-9 but Steward don’t want nothing to do with LARA, Period. Vanes should of been or should be next against Canelo if u ask me. Vanes beat good Contender to gets where he’s at now so, Canelo u and Oscar need to talk and fight these guys period. Oscar do it, to Great. So Lara and Vanes should not fight. And Vanes should fight Canelo next and Lara vs K-9 and Cotto vs Trout are great fights at 154. Money Mayweather jr need to take that fight against Tim Bradley if u ask me. It only make’s Mo Money Mo Money Mo Money.

I agree, Pro…I have no problem with a promotional group cultivating their prospect with caution, until he wins a title. Refusing to defend a world championship against the number one contenders and the fighters who patiently work their way up the respective sanctioning body’s ranking system completely devalues the world title. A blatant disregard to the entire process waters down the ranking system. If Canelo wasn’t ready to defend his title against the best fighters available, GBP had no business getting him the WBC Junior Middleweight title opportunity. Vanes deserved the shot at Canelo a very long time ago. But, because of the different promotional entities and the WBC’s failure to enforce their own bi-laws, there was nothing Vanes or Top Rank could do. When everyone was comndemning Vanes for refusing to face Kirkland, Molina, and Lara, I commended him. He was the next fighter in line to face Canelo and Top Rank knew it. If a fighter is the next in line to fight for a major world title, it would be foolish to take an interim fight against a highly ranked contender. Championship fights are very hard to come by on network TV and Vanes didn’t want to jeopardize his place among the pecking order. When he realized that GBP and the WBC never had any intention of honoring their initial judgment in making Vanes the number one contender, he took the fight with Lara. I commend Vanes and Top Rank for honoring the system…even if it failed them.

Vanes should be fighting Canelo first and then Lara next because Canelo made it bad for him by fighting Matthew Hatton and then Joseph two 140 fighter that shouldn’t get a title fight. Vanes, Lara and Molina is the leading heads. Make it happen.

Love -the -sport, I have to respectfully disagree with you…this fight will be determined by distance and angles. Everything I see in Garcia points to a dominant victory for the undefeated young fighter. The reason why Orlando Salido dominated Juanma twice is because of distance. Salido is a mid-range bomber and Juanma depends on catching his opponents on the inside. Salido is a pressure fighter but to a certain range. Orlando will act as the aggressor but won’t commit to the inside and will start dropping bombs from mid-range. Juanma couldn’t catch Salido on the inside and always paid the price at mid-range. Mikey Garcia is a much more defensive minded counterpuncher with a great economy of punches. He is very proficient at setting traps for his opponents and while keeping his opposition at a safe distance. Salido will have a very hard time landing anything of consequence against Garcia…there’s a reason why Bruce Trampler of Top Rank signed off on this fight…Garcia will win, possibly by stoppage in the mid to late rounds.

Salido vs. Garcia is a great fight. But it is a stupid fight for Garcia. There is no way … no way … no way … Mikey Garcia is going to go rounds with Salido without getting beat-up. Even if Garcia wins, it will be a very, very, very, tough fight. Salido beat the crap out of Juan Manuel Lopez. Salido has a great chin. Salido is mean. Garcia is a young up and coming prospect who is probably not ready for this … great for fight fans — but bad management for Garcia. He should not be taking this fight. He should be continuing to develop his skills, build up his knock-out power, and then take take on Salido and other big tough veteran punchers in 18-24 months as the undercard of a big PPV. This is very high risk for a good young kid. Great for fight fans but stupid. It is not quite as stupid of Josesito Lopez vs. Alvarez … but almost as stupid.

Two Mexicans always worth watching,it’ main card for a reason.Glad to see Lara finally getting bigger fights, hope he wins by ko though vanes is a top rank in house fighter like jr & you never know when bob will pull a abril/rios ,marquez/pac.He has too beat him decisively or ko him like his fellow cuban Rigo & Martinez.

That’s right, UJelly…do you remember the Guerrero fight in which Salido looked like an absolute beast? Well, we found out why shortly after. I wonder if fighters who have been busted previously ever completely clean themsleves up? I wonder if those fighters have merely become better at hiding their seemingly old practices…that’s what is so bad about cheating in a sport like boxing…it’s almost like a fighter is forced to wear a scarlet letter for the rest of his career.

Wow! Boxing is finishing up the year with a bang!, Salido vs Garcia is the fight I’m most interested in out of the two..both good fights regardless, can’t wait..

UJelly?

Will be interested to see how Martirosyan handles the step up in competition. He’s been matched safely for virtually his whole career, so good to see him going in tough.
Salido-Garcia should be a barn-stormer, but I’m hoping Garcia takes it. I’m still dirty on Salido coz of his past steroid use.
