Broner – ugh no he looks like an Ewok.
I believe that a world champion boxer should look more dapper, perhaps Des Lynam circa 1986 would be a good starting point.
A well groomed moustache is a must.Posted October 21, 2013 10:03 pm
IMO now that Provo has a title he should move to unify. We need all 140 belts locked up like the Kostya Tszyu days. Too much talent and too many great action fights to not do it. Provo vs Garcia would be fun, Provo vs Matthysse would be insane even if no longer a unification. Line up the other belt holders.Posted October 21, 2013 7:40 pm
Finberry , would you prefer Broner?Posted October 21, 2013 7:08 pm
K-2 Fan makes a sage pointPosted October 21, 2013 4:00 pm
One thing is for sure. It won’t be Bradley………Posted October 21, 2013 3:42 pm
Provodnikov should face the winner of Rios vs Manny.Posted October 21, 2013 2:27 pm
At least Alvarado was stop!!! Canelo didn’t do NOTHING but to trying not to get hit by a 36 year old Floyd.Posted October 21, 2013 2:25 pm
Damn, another Mexican taking a knee.. Tumbos going to be heart Broken..Posted October 21, 2013 2:22 pm
Ujelly ; I’m not implying it , ( the media bias ) , I’m absolutely stating it ! You can rationalize the media frenzy about Provodnikov any way you want , but if you think that it is merely because he is
Great fight! I thought that the altitude was going to affect Provo some but he was in great shape. The fight was brutal; Ruslan gives his all when he fights which makes for very entertaining fights. The writer in this article wants to see Provo against Pacquiao or Rios; however, Manny and Ruslan belong to the same stable and would not be a good idea to pair them in a fight. I think that it would be a good idea to put Ruslan with Alexander. This fight would be interesting and will be a good build up for another fight. Danny Garcia would be good but not now. Let Ruslan enjoy his found fame; however, lets not bring him too fast because he is in an area of great fighters that pose too many risks.Posted October 21, 2013 4:11 am
Finberry Provo looks that way because hes a siberian Eskimo. Its just how humans in that region evolved. However the fighting may have smooshed his face in a little bit more than the average Eskimo. Lol, he is a beast.Posted October 21, 2013 2:05 am
Provodnikov beat Bradley and so did Pac. Provodnikov was cheated out of a knockdown early in the fight and Bradley’s referee saved him. Bradley went down, then he tried to get up then staggered back against the ropes, only the ropes were holding him. Provodnikov left Bradley on the canvas at the end of the fight. Bradley could hardly talk for two months, slurred his speech, was dizzy, etc. Provodnikov was cheated just like Pac……….Posted October 21, 2013 12:55 am
Provodnikov vs Matthysse!Posted October 20, 2013 10:15 pm
This guy Provo put on a performance as well as Alvarez. I never forget when Jim Lampley said about Bernard Hopkins. Bernard doesn’t care about pleasing the crowd he just cares about the win. This is why Bernard Hopkins will has never got my PPV money. It goes to pure heart fighters like Provo.Posted October 20, 2013 9:44 pm
It looked like Provo after the match was yelling Mama Mama, Mama ! Guess he wants mama.Posted October 20, 2013 9:41 pm
As far as Ruslan…..line them up for him. Doesn’t matter who. Although, at fight with Lucas would be very interesting.Posted October 20, 2013 9:40 pm
I doubt JMM will retire and if he does fight, it’s not going to be for no title. That said, he would want to face either Garcia, Ruslan or Broner. Ruslan would damage him and Broner will be led down the road Floyd took….meaning….wont fight exceptional fighters until they’re past their prime. That leaves Garcia. Hopefully, Garcia will request stringent testing if he fights JMM.Posted October 20, 2013 9:39 pm
Why this Provodnikov fella look like he ggot his face all squashed up against a fishbowl.
I mean man, he is ugly. That an ugly face to be putting on TV.
Get that ugly face off my TV right now.Posted October 20, 2013 8:02 pm
well, how bout this one? Promoters and stables aside, these fights SHOULD be MADE!
Provo vs Maidana
long list though…. hope to see this fightsPosted October 20, 2013 7:43 pm
well… i was wrong on this one… i thought Mike learned a lot from the Rios fight… well… he slug it out with the Russian… kudos to the russian!! respect!!Posted October 20, 2013 7:38 pm
Boris ; Ukraine is ” part of Russia ” , just like your hapless , doughboy Povetkin , has a chance of EVER beating a Klitchko ! No doubt your ass is still sore and smoking from the way the Ukrainian
Its danny garcia not mickey. They wont fight due to one being HBO the other Showtime. Why do we have to keep repeating this?Posted October 20, 2013 6:17 pm
Manny or Garcia? Garcia will fight any1…is manny allowed 2 do the same?Posted October 20, 2013 4:45 pm
Mickey Garcia vs the Russian, make it happen..Posted October 20, 2013 4:44 pm
Sorry foe the misspellingPosted October 20, 2013 4:38 pm
Thos the type of guy u gu ys scre for Mayweather to fight. Then when he makes hi m look like an amature u say that he was a cherry picked tomato can. But with that sayd Rios vs Prov = fight of the decadePosted October 20, 2013 4:35 pm
Marquez! I like to see him counter punch ruslan.Posted October 20, 2013 4:01 pm
Ruslan is a better boxer than hbo gives him credit for. He attacks at different angles and is a good combo puncher.Posted October 20, 2013 3:41 pm
Ruslan vs Garcia would be a explosive fight to see.
This guy would make for a good watch against anybody,Matthyse,Danny G,Rios,Cotto the list go’s on,what I would really like to see is him and Khan as it’s always a pleasure to see Amir’s glass chin shattered.Posted October 20, 2013 2:43 pm
the ideal fights with Garcia or Matysse will not be possible due to the BS and politics of the networks and promoters.Posted October 20, 2013 2:42 pm
it will be a good fight between Provodnikov vs DSGPosted October 20, 2013 2:27 pm
Matthysee vs Provodnikov would be an instant classic. No running, no holding just bombs away.Posted October 20, 2013 1:05 pm
My god finally a real fight !!!! not a Bernard Hopkins or Andre Ward clinchfestPosted October 20, 2013 12:44 pm
First off, hats off to Alvarado for having as much heart as he did, even though it was clear after round 1, boxing for 11 more rounds would not be in Mile high’s favor. The first time I saw provodnikov was against Bradley, and I was lookin forward to his next matchup, and when I heard it was Alvarado my first thought was , wow, He may have been better off , stylistically, facing pacquiao and getting possibly a bigger payday for less punishment, and left the loser of Rios Alvarado face the monster in The Siberian Rocky. I understand Arum says Alvarado took to long to respond to a matchup with Pac but I don’t think arum wanted that anyway. Pit the boxer/slugger against a ferocious slugger.
I like Provodnikov at 140 right now and would like to see a matchup between him and Danny Garcia.Posted October 20, 2013 12:41 pm
I’m surprised you all yell Mayweather who would be at a 15 pound disadvantage. Why aren’t you fools calling out Canelo or some one in the correct weight division for triple GGG? Ruslan is a good fighter he does not need a unfair weight advantage to beat his oponents.Posted October 20, 2013 12:37 pm
Ha ha ha, here we go with the Mayweather will never fight Provodnikov BS. Do you people even have a clue of how different style mesh in the ring? And after that, do you realize the strangle hold the networks and promoters have on certain fights from ever taking place… In any case Provodnikov should never fight A Mayweather type fighter. That would be a total out classing for him…Posted October 20, 2013 12:23 pm
“Bradley says he chose to fight Ruslan the way he did, Ruslan says that’s a myth, Bradley fought the way he did because I made him!”…Jim Lampley. Quote of the night for me. Great fight. I was rooting for Ruslan, but I thought that Alvarado might have enough to take a decision. Glad I was wrong. I still don’t like how many punches Ruslan takes. Hang on and enjoy the ride while it lasts!Posted October 20, 2013 12:18 pm
@K-2 Fan – “Tell me , this isn’t hype !”
Not sure what you’re implying… that the media is somehow anti-Ukranian and pro-Russian?
Provodnikov is in the public eye because of the Bradley fight, and now because he just won a world title against a very good opponent. He was also in a main event fight.
Lomachenko looks awesome and he did get some coverage leading into, and as a result of his fight (though I don’t recall any article on this site completely dedicated to him post-fight… there definitely was at least one pre-fight).
And I never saw anyone say that Ramirez would school (or even beat) Lomachenko… and if they did, they were probably morons. As far as I know, anyone who knew anything was fully expecting Lomachenko to put on a good show and most likely come out the victor.Posted October 20, 2013 12:11 pm
kontiki – your post is laughable. GGG is probably 3 divisions north of Prov. Floyd doesn’t have business at middleweight, but why would he be scared of Prov?? Floyd has fought Cotto, Alvarez, Oscar, Hatton, Judah, Marques, Corrales….I could keep going…but he should stay away from this guy because Prov beat an AVERAGE fighter in Alvarado??? That’s plain stupid.Posted October 20, 2013 12:07 pm
After what I saw last night, I believe Provodnikov can beat guys like Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse, or even Pac…I would love to see a Garcia- Provodnikov or Matthysse-Provodnikov match. A Broner-Prov would be an interesting fight, but I can see Broner outboxing him in a big way. We may never get to see Pac-Provodnikov match due to both sharing the same camp, but I would have to go with Prov due to Pac’s “high milage”.
Provodnikov got my respect last night for three main reasons; he took Alvarados punches very well; he show determination; and, lastly, he show lots of class when refering to the lost toBradley and his win over Alvarado. Another thing he got for him is his charisma; something that fighters like Bradley desperate requires.
As for him beating Floyd, I just don’t see it. One thing noticeable about Provodnikov last night is that he takes lots of punishment. Thought he handled Alvarado very well, there’s noway anyone can compare Alvarado to Maywhether…Floyd too much of a sharpshooter and Provwill be there to get hit. Another thing is that Floyd and his camps have lots of experience and will not fight Provodnikov on a small ring like Alvarado did last night.Posted October 20, 2013 11:52 am
To Anonymous- mayweather just schooled Canelo….people said the same stupid thing you just said about that fight. Bradley box this dude and won
the light pity pat punching timothy bradley will never rematch provodikovPosted October 20, 2013 11:26 am
Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)
Danny Garcia will duck this guy for as long as he possibly can. Too risky, too dangerous. Just blame it on differences between HBO and Showtime and their affiliated promotional organizations. That’s an easy out.Posted October 20, 2013 11:21 am
give us a clue
Provodnikov would hammer Bam Bam Rios from ring post to ring post and back again. Rios doesn’t even have a puncher’s chance in this contest. I can see Rios in reverse gear from round one until he is smashed to the canvas in 7 or 8 painful, one-sided rounds. It will look like the school bully up against the new kid. The only thing Bam Bam has going for him is his bravery, but his limited densive skills, limited footwork and average world class pop will add to the vicious, systematic beating PROVODNIKOV will lay on him and hasten him to the Hall of Fistic Dementia he is on a high-speed collision course with.
Floyd wouldn’t take the risk in fighting Ruslan, Ruslan won’t try to pop shot with mayweather he’d go all in regardless of how much he got hit!Posted October 20, 2013 10:09 am
I don’t see rios beating pacman but imagine Ruslan vs rios wow! That fight wouldn’t make it past 6 rdsPosted October 20, 2013 10:07 am
Floyd’s KO percentage is fairly poor because he only faces elite fighters. If he was purely a belt holder and only defended against mandatories he’d prob hav a 90% KO rate. Mayweather will definitely stop Khan.Posted October 20, 2013 9:39 am
I would pay to see Khan v Money.Would be a good fight.remember Khan only lost against punchers .And one was really a lucky neck punch. And remember Money only has a 50% KO record .To many here either under estimate or hate too admit the skill & guts that Khan has.Even if Khan loses .It would be an entertaining fight.Posted October 20, 2013 9:26 am
nope provo will not fight pac and cotto coz they are on the same fold with roach as trainer of them with the attitude of relentless attack method which roach employ to them.thats make a devastating fighter in the making maybe bradley.jmm, ggg, maidana possibilities square off.Posted October 20, 2013 9:16 am
Is like to see him against Broner. Good fightPosted October 20, 2013 9:15 am
Todd yes it would take someone almost like pac but Pac lacks ring smarts and defense so i see him getting a boxing lesson..yuup!Posted October 20, 2013 9:07 am
k-2 fan that kid is the truth,he has all the goods to be a world champion for a long time,i was also following his amature fights and have been very very impressed.Don’t worry he will make a name for himself in due time it’s just that the welterweight division is where it’s at right now and the spot light is on the higher weighted fights at the moment but i guarentee you that vasyl will make everybody a fan soon enough the kids amazengly gifted….yezzzir!Posted October 20, 2013 9:05 am
you guys still don’t get it ,do you? no slugger is ever going to beat floyd mayweather. It would have to be a fighter that’s his equal with speed, ring smarts and defense .I don’t care how good Ruslan looked last night Mayweather would have him missing all night waaaay too slow for the money man.Once floyd beats him you guys are going to dig in the crates and try to create another fighter that floyd wont go near. it’s the same old song with the same old lyrics…..yezzzzir!Posted October 20, 2013 8:59 am
Huh, you know nothings…PBF destroys this guy. Ruslan has no hope against the defensive mastery of Mayweather. Skill beats wills every time a nutshell.Posted October 20, 2013 8:52 am
Fairness of the press ! Last week the world champion and two tie Olympic champion ; Vasyl Lomachenko , made his professional
flash knock down
90% wins this year Provodnikov gives Mayweather the toughest fight of his life. Let’s give the best man a chance to beat Floyd . He is the only fighter that will keep coming in all the others have proven that they just want to pick up a check and live to fight another day all of them or they wont fight at all. The Russian just mad a tough guy quit on his stool This was one of my best predictions ever go to yahoo answers in the boxing section to read what I wrote.Posted October 20, 2013 8:49 am
Floyd would destroy Ruslan easy and I don’t wish to see Khan vs Money cuz khan will fold faster than a lawn chair I would love to see Ruslan vs reymundo Beltran that would be greatPosted October 20, 2013 8:34 am
This fan does not want to see Mayweather*…. The fights should be made between Ruslan, Bradley, PAC, Rios, maybe Cotto, if he can come down to 147. Mayweather* should fight Khan in England for PPV and guys like Anonymous will buy it….Posted October 20, 2013 8:02 am
Jack that’s because mayweather will take him to school. We already saw mayweather fight people who are stronger, bigger, slugger etc etc and none of them could touch him!Posted October 20, 2013 7:54 am
Mayweather won’t go nowhere near this guy.Posted October 20, 2013 7:10 am
