PEEJ… Forman’s chin wasn’t that great.
Light hitter Ali knocked George out. Ken Norton was knocked out 4 times. He was knocked stiff by 188-pound Jose Luis Garcia. Ali couldn’t even floor Norton in 36 rounds but put Foreman down and out.
When feather-punching Jimmy Young fought Foreman he knocked George down and almost out. If that fight another round Young would have knocked Forman out. How many guys did Young knock down? Michael Spinks was 6’2” X 212 for Mike Tyson—bigger than Jimmy Young was for Foreman. I believe Tyson KO’s Young faster than he iced Michael Spinks.
Foreman was floored 4 X in his 20’s—Tyson was floored only 1 X in his 20’s. Foreman avoided big bombers when he came back. George refused to fight Lewis, Mercer, Ruddock, Bowe, or Tyson. George was easy to hit and they would have murdered him. Why else did he avoid them??? George would have made tons more money fighting then than fighting Martin, Stewart, Saverese, Schulz, and Grimsly—NONE of whom George could knock out.

The old Foreman was fat and slow, and never beat a good heavyweight.
The result would be exactly the same as Tyson vs Holmes =A brutal stoppage of old George Foreman. I don’t think Foreman would do as well as Holmes, against an early 90ties Iron Mike.Posted October 22, 2013 1:07 pm
Foremans chin was too strong for Mike. He would of been able to take his punches and Mike would of been stopped late. See what Foreman did to Frazier. Same thing would of happened but Mike would of lasted longer because his chin was better than Fraziers.Posted October 22, 2013 12:40 pm
I would have liked to see the late Corrie Sanders fight either of these two guys. CS’ speed, aggression, and power are missing from the hw division.Posted October 22, 2013 12:33 pm
Mike was too fast for GF.Posted October 22, 2013 12:30 pm
Right.., Watch Foreman’s fights with Tommy Morrison, Lou Saverese, and Crawford Grimsley to figure out what was a comfortable pace for a 250lb Foreman.. But he fought almost as slowly vs Jimmy Young.. Only in the 7th did he ever fight. After that he was pooped.Posted October 22, 2013 12:13 pm
Young George would have had a better chance. George always was slow and crude, though he saved his energy better when he came back…he was smarter. I think Tyson of the early 90’s would have beaten Old George because he was still sharper than George was. I think he would have busted up old George enough to cause a stoppage. Mike had a good chin. If he could beat Razor Ruddock twice, he’d probably beat GF. The men who beat Mike in the 90’s made him fight at a faster pace than he wanted to and George wouldn’t have.Posted October 22, 2013 11:22 am

“Big” George Foreman vs “Iron” Mike Tyson = Winner George Foreman by middle round KO or TKO. Joe Frazier x2, Bert Cooper, JB Williams etc all had that slugging style similar to Tyson’s style and physics and Foreman loved to fight against that boxing style becouse he knew how to handle them in the ring with his size and power. Tyson knew that very well from the beginning and knew he could not win againsy a hungry Foreman.Posted October 22, 2013 7:17 am
Right. Foreman’s fights with Lou Saverese and Crawford Grimsley were stupendously entertaining. Made everyone forget about Foreman-Young.Posted October 22, 2013 12:26 am
Foreman never wanted to fight Tyson… He never wanted to fight Lewis, Bowe, Mercer, Holmes, McCall, Ruddock, or Tyson.
And he didn’t… He wouldn’t have fought guys like Crawford Grimsley if he thought he had a prayer of beating the top guys… They were begging to fight George.Posted October 22, 2013 12:14 am

That did NOT happen Fight Aficionado… Foreman avoided most really dangerous punchers in the 1990’s… There’s a lot of hitters where the answer came back NOT him — NOT Lewis… NOT Tyson… NOT Ruddock… NOT Mercer… NOT McCall… NOT Bowe.
Foreman DID agree to fight Everette Martin… Tommy Morrison… Lou Saverese… Axel Schulz… and Crawford Grimsley.Posted October 21, 2013 7:44 pm
There’s 1 reason I think George beats Mike in the ’90s: Mike was afraid of George and would not fight him under any conditions. Reportedly he threatened to attack Don King when he was discussing a contract offer to fight Foreman and accused DK of trying to get him killed.Posted October 21, 2013 6:33 pm

pure fantasy, holyfield proved this in 1991, foreman couldn’t put him away and tyson would never be knocked down let alone ko’d before the third roundPosted October 21, 2013 1:44 pm
I concur; Tyson would have lost to Foreman.Posted October 21, 2013 1:20 pm
There is no way Foreman would have ko’ed Tyson, especially that early in the fight. Tyson would have been way too fast AND powerful for the comback version of Foreman. Because of Foremans great chin he may have lasted the distance, but my money would have been on a mid to late round KO from the hands of Tyson!Posted October 21, 2013 12:06 pm
And Vls.. To say Tyson beat nothing but no names and totally washed up fighters isn’t fair or accurate. No, certainly not prime hall of famers. Holmes was not prime by any means but lets not forget he had enough in the tank to beat ray mercer like he stole something years later.Posted October 21, 2013 11:54 am

why does this tyson vs old foreman comes around every 3 months or so! Tyson would have whooped him! I know cuss told Tyson that big slugger like liston and foreman would all ways beat swarmers like patterson and frazier but George was what 40 years old?
And if we talk prime for prime Foreman was what 225 pounds? Tyson was 218 built like tank compered to Frazier’s 205 pounds! Frazier had great heart and left hook but Tyson had underrated defense with head movement and hands held high! Punched in combinations.Posted October 21, 2013 11:45 am
Ruddock and Bruno were at least as fast as an old Foreman, and they were bigger, taller, and stronger
SO… Why didn’t Foreman fight punchers like Bowe, McCall, Mercer, Lewis, or Tyson? Those were all potentially big money fights.
Why DID he choose Everett Martin, Morrison, Saverese, Grimsley, and Schulz?… And why couldn’t George stop any of them?Posted October 21, 2013 10:56 am
I would take a prime Mike Tyson over any other heavyweight including the great Ali. Foreman was too slow and Frazier was too small. Neither one of them finishes a fight against Tyson. I just don’t see it.Posted October 21, 2013 10:53 am
Donovan Ruddock was a beast until Tyson got done with him. Everyone was scared of the guy except Tyson. Lewis didn’t fight him for almost 2 years after Tyson was done with him. And Holyfield and Bowe never fought him. After the Tyson fights he was completely washed up, but he was a tremendous puncher in every respect. Right along the same lines as Tyson.Posted October 21, 2013 10:47 am
Holyfield was a steroid cheat though. In a sport like boxing or football is really where you can see the benefits of the ” juice. ” In baseball you still have to be able to hit that ball that’s coming at you at 90 to 100 mph plus.Posted October 21, 2013 10:43 am

Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis were all very big, fast, and skilled… They all beat Mike Tyson.

I agree with Weltervilly. And guys don’t forget Tyson-Spinks. Yes you could say Spinks was cruiser. But Spinks beat Holmes 2 times. And Tyson beat Holmes and Spinks like nobody never before and after.Posted October 21, 2013 9:42 am
I know exactly when Tyson begin his professional career. But saying nobody heard about Tyson in 85 is crazy statement. I am telling you everybody was polarized by Tyson starting 84. Most people and comemtators thought this guy will be a champion sooner than later.Tyson said at 16 his strength and technic was already there but mentally wasn’t ready yet for biggest names. Not Only Bruno is insane. I could give you 10 names of boxers you could say they are insane starting with James Toney, but this is not a case. Like I said everybody are different. In 90s Roy Jones beat Toney, Hopkins . 2010 and later he got no chance against them. And remember people. Mike Tyson stoped training properly and was not dedicated any more. Klitschko on the other hand change his style under Steward. Withouth grabbing and his 6.7” Wladimir is nothing special. The last. Every boxer has bad day. Lennox-McCall, Vitalij-Byrd, Wladimir- Brewster, Wlad-Sanders, Holyfield-Larry Donald, Holy-Byrd etc. Do you thing Mike Tyson have any problems with Chris Byrd? Or Tyson problems with Zelijko Mavrovic (Lennox look bad in this one)Posted October 21, 2013 9:37 am
Lets pretend that Tyson never fought Larry Holmes & then write another article how Larry would have boxed Tysons ears off using only his left jab.Posted October 21, 2013 7:02 am
I loved Mike Tyson as a fighter but I am amazed at the number of excuses people make for him. In reaity, he is just about the most overrated heavyweight of all time. People talk about Mike Tyson’s mythical ‘prime’ where all he fought complete no-names (yet still struggled against the likes of James “Quick” Tilis). How can a fighter’s prime be measured when he fought overmatched or over-the-hill fighters? Coincidentally, whenever he fought (and lost) against better fighters he was either ‘past his prime’ (Holyfield, Lewis etc.) or going through emotional problems (Douglas). Fact is, Tyson would never have beat a Foreman or even a Frazier.Posted October 21, 2013 5:50 am

DUMBEST poster of the thread award goes to lucas. Get this guys, lucas believes Tyson’s prime was from 84-89. Hey lucas, you DO know that Tyson didn’t not have his first pro fight until 85 don’t ya?? So according to lucas Tyson was in his prime BEFORE anyone had even heard of him!! and and up until COVENIENTLY just one year before ’90 when he suffered his loss. So by that logic Klitschko’s prime years were 1996-1999 before he suffered the loss to Byrd? Sugar Ray Leonards prime years are 77-80 before he suffered his first defeat to Duran? And Durans prime years are 68-72 before suffering his first loss to DeJesus? lucas do yourself a favour and NEVER comment here againPosted October 21, 2013 4:39 am

Anonymous or whoever. don’t be so exited and stop calling me an idiot. Actualy Tyson beat everybody in his prime. His prime was between 84-89. You didn’t know this? Some heaviweights prime is between 30-35 tears of age, but Tyson was difrent. He was the youngest champion. Nobody knows better own ability than fighter himself and Tyson admit he was about to quit in 1990. After 1990 he wasn’t dedicated like before , Kevin Rooney wasn’ t there etc so that’s why he lost to Holyfield . And stop reminding losts to McBride and Williams. I could see you are amateur in your prediction and overexited guy. Do you remember Lennox fight with Bruno? Lewis was behind on points . He got lucky shot. Now watch Tyson Bruno . Frank said he could fight Lennox every single month but no Tyson again. What you could say about Foreman-Morer? Tyson would KO him in first .Posted October 21, 2013 1:18 am

Lucass your comment shows what an idiot you are and how little you know about the fight game!!!! Styles make fights., fighters like marciano , Frazier, and to a less of a degree of a fighter tyson NEVER match up with a style like a foreman or a liston on the same note foreman and liston don’t match up well with an boxer like ali. What is prime tyson? When he was 19yo and koing jaco, zouski, Mercedes, or 21yo and beating Ferguson, jameson, or narrowly beating tillis , or is it the 23yo that beat williams and bruno and then lost every round to douglas before for getting brutally ko’d, or maybe the 30yo the beat McNealy , seldon, and bruno agian before be totally dominaned and ko’d by holyfield, or the 36yo that beat mathis and got ko’d by williams and mcbride?????? By the way all those ages are considered PRIME for a heavyweight!!!! Lewis, both klitchko’s, foreman all of who are well past that age!!! So what is PRIME tyson???? A couple of select few fights against jaco, williams, tubbs, johnson, and Mercedes, not douglas, holyfield, wiliams, lewis, etc. All of witch he was well under the age of 40 witch by heavyweight standards is still in his prime. And micheal spinks was a great LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT NOT A GREAT HEAVYWEIGHT! !!!!!! Tyson got ko’d by everyone that stood up to him from the beginning of his career to the end of his career NOTHING CHANGED!!!!!!! And when 48yo Foreman fought alex stewart he knocked stewart down twice and almost stopped him again in the 8th round in a fight where was grossly out of shape was never hurt or knocked down and won the fight!!!! Something tyson failed to do against McBride despite being 10 years younger. All tyson was a good fighter at the right time with a GREAT management team jacobs, demato, cayton. He never beat an all time great heavyweight in there prime, holmes was retired for 3 years and only had 6 weeks to train for the fight and lost his last two previous fights and was 38yo. Foreman would have easily back tyson up and tyson could not fight backing up and NEVER had a plan b or c and would have eat foreman’s devastating jab and crushed by his right hand.Posted October 21, 2013 12:42 am
Anonymous. Stupid comment. Why you even mention names like Williams, McBride. You are really think they could be match for prime Tyson? Today Tyson probably lost to Seth Mitchel. Roy Jones in 90s was untouchable, today ………….everybody can KO him. No one will know for sure who will win, but to me Mike. He was 2 times faster than George, better technic, more explosive at least same power. Tyson in his heyday was a real beast. Foreman on the other hand was effective but plain. To me Mike 70 to 30. And remember fighters makes fights. Buy the way I don’t think Foreman would kill Spinks like Iron Mike.Posted October 20, 2013 11:39 pm
Big george was just to slow im sorry. Easy win for a focus tyson.Posted October 20, 2013 11:33 pm
Foreman would have destroyed the much shorter, physically weaker and mentally fragile mike tyson. Tyson was lucky to get by james tillis who was ko’d by holyfield and was also very lucky to get by tony tucker who broke his hand in the second round. Tyson NEVER beat a all time great HEAVYWEIGHT in his prime!!!! Beating green, Mercedes, jaco, jameson, and fresh out of rehab thomas and tubbs does not make tyson a terror, his management did a great job of picking fighters that would not stand up to tyson and did not have much power, just look at tyson’s greatest hits his opponents were pathetic!!!!! But tyson NEVER BEAT ANYONE that stood up to him like danny williams, douglas, mcbride, etc. All of witch savagely beat tyson and brutally knocked him out. It did not matter if tyson was 19yo or 29yo tyson NEVER beat a fighter that stood up to him. Foreman had the jab, the chin, the power and the heart to completely dominant and brutally knock tyson out if he did not quit like he did against holyfield before he got battered to the canvas .but team tyson always avoided fighters look how long holyfield was the #1 contender 2and1/2 years and paid him step aside money to fight douglas and we all know what happened there, they also avoided Witherspoon, mercer and foreman like the plague. That’s why we are talking about foreman vs tyson instead of watching foreman back tyson up and brutally knockout tyson on espn classic boxing. Oh and 47yo foreman did not get knocked out by morrison and holyfield and was very much in the fight and chasing them around the ring and 23-33yo tyson was never even in the fight with holyfield and douglas before he was savagely knocked out and wiliams and McBride BOTH knocked out tyson!!!!!!!!Posted October 20, 2013 11:12 pm
Funniest nonsense i’ve ever read. Is this the same foreman that lost to tommy morrison and evander holyfield? The same one who got bruised up by alex stewart? The same foreman who was losing on all cards against michael moorer? wow. So you think Tyson with all his head movement would stand there and allow foreman to land his slow telegraphic punches?
Why did foreman lose to holyfield? Because evander was way too fast for big george. I saw evander land 3/4/5 piece combos on foremans head before foreman had time to cover up.
We all know Tyson had blistering hand speed – Much more faster than evander’s.. and more powerful.. imagine tyson landing one two three four on foreman’s head..
Tyson wins either by TKO or Referee stopping the fight cos foreman’s face is bruised up (look at alex stewart vs foreman)
If it goes to decision tyson still winsPosted October 20, 2013 10:50 pm
Good fight but I would give it to tyson old or new foreman would have lost just my thoughts.Posted October 20, 2013 10:11 pm
That fight would have not gone more than two rounds. Foreman would have crushed in two or three lopsided rounds.Posted October 20, 2013 10:04 pm
Forman was beaten up by Morrison prime Tyson would have destroyed him. The Tyson after prison who did not want to train or run during training triple G could have beaten him.Posted October 20, 2013 9:53 pm
I am a big fan of GF, but this sort of article is a waste of time.Until two fighters meet in the ring, we can only speculate at what would take place.Posted October 20, 2013 7:47 pm
C’mon, Mr. Slater? Are you serious? Tyson would’ve ripped Foreman a new one. There’s no way Foreman stands up to that version of Tyson. No way and in no universe. Tyson would’ve been way too fast and way too strong and because of Tyson’s defensive ability he would’ve barely laid a glove on the guy. Tyson would’ve stopped Foreman in 6 rounds or less. It would’ve been the opposite of what some are saying. Foreman, for as long as he would’ve lasted, would’ve taken a tremendous beating. It would’ve been bad. He would’ve found out in the very first round the difference between Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson.Posted October 20, 2013 7:10 pm
George Foreman would have stopped Tyson before 6 rounds. People that know and understand boxing know Tyson would have been stopped. George was a fierce puncher, and if you thought you could go punch for punch with him, you’re going to be in a world of hurt. Tyson was no boxer. He came to fight, and George would have crushed him. Tyson ha no stamina, and if someone stood his ground (Holyfield), Tyson caved in. I watched this man train a few times, and there’s no description of what he did to sparring partners and bags. I watched him break a 3 inch thick speed bag platform with a 1/4 inch steel plate surrounding it in half. Foreman was unreal. I like Mike, and he could have beat a lot of guys, but he get knocked out against georeg.Posted October 20, 2013 6:31 pm
Mike Tyson was WAAAAY too fast for Foreman… Iron Mike would hit old George many times before Foreman could even get off one slow swing.
Ron Lyle was the only prime bomber Foreman ever faced… George was nearly KO’d by Lyle—but dodged a bullet. George avoided prime punchers after that. Lyle was very slow. Earnie Shavers was quicker fisted than Lyle.
Earnie Shavers said, “George wouldn’t fight me.”
Foreman.., “Right… I never fought Ernie Shavers—thank God.”Posted October 20, 2013 6:29 pm
Terrible match up for Tyson. He’d have to run the whole fight. The 1990 version of Foreman stops Tyson early.Posted October 20, 2013 6:29 pm

lol Foreman got dropped by Ron Lyle, Tyson punch harder than Lyle no doubt about it. Foreman punch really hard yes, but is very slow, can’t protect his jaw with his hands down. Easy target for Tyson.Posted October 20, 2013 5:01 pm
George Foreman beating Mike Tyson is not controversial.
Tyson had trouble with tall fighters with long reach (Buster Douglas, Bonecrusher Smith, Mitch Green).
Foreman had an under-rated jab and obviously huge punching power.
Foreman made easy work of Frazier and although Tyson and Frazier had some differences — there are major similarities between Tyson and Frazier.
I don’t think there is anything controversial about Foreman beating Tyson in 1975 or 1995.Posted October 20, 2013 4:42 pm
Mike b – also don’t forget axel Shultz Got robed in a fight against Forman .
Prime Forman beats Tyson but the comeback Forman to slow for Tyson and Tyson had a pretty strong jaw but it wouldn’t be a surprise that Forman would get a lucky punch at the end of the fight and won but unlikely !Posted October 20, 2013 4:25 pm

I think that a prime foreman beats tyson, so am no tyson nuthugger, but no way “comeback” george beats tyson. Who did he beat? Michael Moorer, with a late punch and Shannon Briggs in a robbery(he won that fight). Late 80’s Tyson was only ever beat by himself.Posted October 20, 2013 3:47 pm
I really think George punched harder than Mike Tyson. George was very heavy handed. Those punches would push the other fighter back.Posted October 20, 2013 3:10 pm
