Pac vs Floyd is not as big as it once was. I would be willing to bet it wouldn’t even sell as much as the Canelo fight. And it is just an opinion, just like when everybody says Floyd couldn’t beat Duran, the fight will never happen so why say that? Because it is an opinion. Pac vs Floyd is no longer the greatest event because Pac has looked terrible ever since fighting Mosley. He has not been the same since the Margacheato fight and he doesn’t sell like he used to. The mexican fans actually pushed the 3 and 4th Pac fights. Heck the pushed the Bradley fight also. I wouldn’t be surprised if that fight did as many sells as the Pac vs Bradley fight.Posted October 26, 2013 11:01 am

Yes Adrian I think Floyd beats Martinez. So what, just like you think Pac beats everybody even though he has loses and KOs on his record. I think Floyd out points Martinez. We will not know because Floyd is not moving to 160 and Martinez can’t make 154. So it really doesn’t matter. Can’t really go by anything you say because it would never happenPosted October 25, 2013 11:59 am

Bernard Hopkins vs. Floyd Mayweather jr – Fight of all times!!! That would be an great fight = On the paper. Bernard Hopkins is an all time great legend and have broken so many records and defeated over 16 recognised world champions over the years and numerous top contenders and if he was younger I would love to see that happen BUT becouse of his incredible age of 48 and the time taking to properly move down in weight to even make that level is almost impossible to make it right at his age. Don’t get me wrong here as Hopkins’s physic is legendary great as he have always been in top condition for all his PRO fights sence 1989 = 24 years ago and Hopkins is just great in the ring and can match any style. However his body is no longer made for fighting at top level in middleweight class and still fight great and Floyd Mayweather Jr would have all the advanteges on that weight level now as he would fit a lot better there now then Hopkins would do now. Hopkins was the undisputed middleweight king for over 11 years (1994-2005) but he have been a light heavyweight fighter sence 2006 and been a great fighter and 3-time light heavyweiht champion BUT to go back 2 weight classes now would just not work. Hopkins best opptions in his active boxing career now is to either defend his light heavyweight world title for a while or take a possible chanse at moving up a class and fight for a cruiserweight world title fight BUT moving down in weight, NOT a smart move now for his career. The only way Hopkins would have a chanse to defeat Mayweather Jr at his age would be fighting at Super middleweight level but that is not going to happen eaither as Mayweather jr would never-ever dear try that. Hopkins style and power would defeat Mayweather Jr no dopubts about it but the diffrence is hard.Posted October 25, 2013 11:12 am

Adrian – I thaught thats the assumption that most have on Floyd vs Bradley, Garcia, Broner, Alexander which some fans deemed those fights boring cause we all know think we know the outcome. So much for upsets in boxing. Now 37yr old must fight MW to be tested, that is testiment to his greatness when at his age MW are considered his only test.Posted October 25, 2013 3:39 am
Floyd would WIN this one due to a huge SPEED advantage. You think he made the young Canelo LOOK slow well what DO you think he would DO with Hopkins???Posted October 25, 2013 3:04 am
Ok peej said mayweather would beat Martinez so we should all accept that and there is no need for floyed to fight Martinez because would beat him , peej says so…lol
All depends what year Hopkins retires as to whether he goes first ballot HOF.
It`s entirely feasible that JMM, Mosely, Pacman, Vitali (who is contesting 2015 Ukraine presidency), RJJ and hopkins for instance could retire in the same eligibility year.
Don Curry and Prince Naz are already on the ballot not getting voted in and Curry was seen as a p4p1/2 at one point.Posted October 25, 2013 1:17 am

Hopkins defended the middleweight title 20 times and should be credited with 22 successful defenses because he beat Jerman Taylor twice.. He beat 5 Light Heavyweight Champions: Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, Roy Jones, Jean Pascal, and Travoris Cloud. He lost a SD to a sixth LHW Champ.
Unfortunately I don’t think he’s interested in fighting Sergei Kovalev or Adonis Stevenson. I don’t think Stevenson is interested in fighting Kovalev either. Kovalev is in the same situation Golovkin is in at 160.
I am also anxious to see if Carl Frampton will fight Guillermo Rigondeaux. I don’t see why the best don’t fight the best. I mean I see why, but there should be a mechanism to force the best fights to happen.Posted October 25, 2013 12:09 am

Ward can’t make 160… Floyd and GGG would be great at 160 but not happening in a million years… Floyd-Martinez COULD happen.
I don’t think it will.. I think Floyd fights Garcia, Pacquiao, Bradley, Matthysse, and possibly Provodnikov to finish up.. They’ll all be good fights and go the distance. Floyd will possibly finish 50-0 and break the live gate and PPV record 2 more times.Posted October 24, 2013 10:50 pm
Ward and floyd at 160Posted October 24, 2013 10:16 pm
An old man that holds and a boxer/runner that lands one punch at a time. The fight will not sell at the gate or PPV. it would cost more to put it on than it will draw.Posted October 24, 2013 9:13 pm
Floyd wouldn’t have fought Calzaghe. That fight didn’t make any sense for him for a lot of reasons. The Jermain Taylor fight made a lot of sense for Floyd. Taylor couldn’t really box, punch, or fight very well and he was unbeaten. JT was very tentative which Floyd loves. Floyd would have looked like a master in that fight and amazed everybody.
Cory Spinks even fought a SD with Jermain Taylor… And Zab Judah knocked Spinks out with ease. I was hoping Floyd would fight Taylor.
The Martinez fight is tempting if he still wants a middleweight title. He would be giving up 15 pounds to a declining fighter who still has a lot of speed, power, elusiveness, and tricky southpaw antics. It’s pretty good timing … because somebody is going to kick Sergio’s ass soon. He’s on borrowed time.Posted October 24, 2013 8:54 pm

And, in fact, the world really does not want to see Bernard Hopkins.
Bernard could have done the world a favor and stepped in for Shane Mosely after Shane decided to bail out on the Mundine fight. Yes. The world wants to see Hopkins vs. Mundine. That is a great fight.

Real men drink Hendriks Martini
Looking at Hopkins career, he was beaten by RJJ at MW, and only became champion after RJJ and James Toney went up in weight after better things. He basically stayed behind to clean up the trash when all the action with Benn, Eubank, RJJ etc was in the division/s above him.
The the moment someone vaguely non trash turns up in Taylor – he got beat.
Which also brings us onto the point that he skipped the SMW division, where Calzaghe waited, and when Calzaghe came up, he trounced Hopkins and turned him into a negative whining little cow.
So I mean it would be churlish not to appreciate Hopkins longevity, consistency, and ability to pick some low hanging fruit, but I don`t think he has EVER actually been better than everyone else who he realistically could have made fights with – e.g. within 10lbs of him.
He`s snaked a path by knowing he is maybe 3-4th best guy between 160lbs-175lbs, beating the vulnerable overrated fighters like Tarver/Pavlik, while losing to the better fighters like RJJ and Calzaghe, but in such a boring, negative whiny way that people prefer to forget the fights.
He has been a very very good garbageman. Hell he can have a gold watch when he retires, but a garbageman is what he is.Posted October 24, 2013 5:22 pm

Boxing Barlow…. Calzaghe’s style wud hav been all wrong for Mayweather. An aggressive, high volume punching, quick handed boxer, with great stamina and a granite chin. Pacquiao used to hav all these attributes – so u can understand why Floyd wasn’t keen on making the PAC fight happen. Calzaghe, a big framed 6 foot super middleweight would hav overwhelmed Mayweather and forced a stoppage for sure. Floyd is a welterweight tho to be fair!Posted October 24, 2013 3:48 pm

If Floyd wanted a middleweight title he would have fought Jermain Taylor right after he beat De La Hoya. Floyd thought Jermain was a very tentative puncher and super easy to hit. He thought he could outbox Taylor with ease and punch the crap out him, but his dad and uncle discouraged him. “He’s too big son. Leave that MFer alone.”
Right now, with Martinez showing vulnerabilities at 38, Floyd might be tempted to go after him, but I doubt it. Martinez is much smarter, and a much better boxer, puncher, and defender.

We all know B Hop is a whore for the dollar, but how could they possibly find a catch weight for this? And even if they somehow did, the styles these two otherwise great fighters bring to the ring would make for a boring ass affair. It might make a somewhat tactical battle between counterpunchers like Bradley and Marquez look like Gatti v. Ward.Posted October 24, 2013 2:15 pm

For entertainement, would be interesting, but the weight difference, is too much so that both fighters can be in their prime weight in this fight.
But really, this is about money, and if the fight happens, I guess money will be flowing in.Posted October 24, 2013 2:00 pm
Hey Hops! If you can make 160, why not fight 3G? That would be way more interesting than a Mayweather fight. It would put things right in a sense that 3G would get a well known legend on his resume and thus a bargaining chip if 3G wants to lock horns with Mayweather. As of right now 3G has nobody on his list that shows he should even be in the ring with Mayweather. We all know 3G is the real deal but until he beats a top guy or someone of note, the incentive for Mayweather to fight him just isn’t there.Posted October 24, 2013 1:58 pm

Hopkins doesn’t need a unification fight with Stevens. If that fight happens it will happen for the championship, those titles mean nothing if that fight happens. That is for the real championship at Light Heavy. Which is what Adonis is, the real Light Heavy Champion.Posted October 24, 2013 12:05 pm
Hopkins with all of his experience and knowledge of the fight game would never attempt to drop all of that weight at this stage of his career. Dropping to Middleweight at 48 years old after having fought at 175 for the last few years would make him an old man overnight, look at Roy Jones and Chris Byrd coming down from heavy, or Antonio Tarver from cruiser and these guys all did it when they were 10+ years younger than Hopkins.
He would be so weak that the size difference wouldn’t mean squat.
For a freak train wreck fight this would sell, and retire Hopkins for good.Posted October 24, 2013 12:00 pm

We will see what happens after this fight. He is not making 160 no matter what he says. If he does that he will run into the same problem Jones and Tarver did when dropping down from those heavy weight weights. Though Tarver was never that good anyways.Posted October 24, 2013 11:42 am

Dude I have said over and over Calzaghe beat Hopkins. He out worked him. But Hopkins beat up Cazlaghe and that is why he didn’t want a rematch. I never laid claim that Hopkins won that fight. It was a close fight though but Calzaghe clearly was the winner no matter how close it was. But I believe it was a split decision and Hopkins put some hurt on Calzaghe to make Calzaghe not want a rematch.Posted October 24, 2013 11:03 am
Not good to fight Hopkins because most fighters that fight Hopkins are never the same afterwards. Just look at Taylor, Dawson as some examples. Tito wasn’t the same neither. B-Hop has accomplished more than Floyd in my humble opinion. He’s defied time and done thing no other athlete has done . Add to that 20 straight defenses of the Middleweight title against the best out there and a great reign at light HW.
B-Hop was a more complete fighter in his prime than Floyd was in his prime. B-Hop’s skills might not have been quite as refined as Floyd’s but he was ruthless and his skills were not far behind. He’s more of an old school fighter with lots of dirty tricks up his sleeve.
B-Hop would beat Floyd badly and retire him in this fantasy match-up. He’d beat every opponent of Floyd worse than Floyd did.
In my opinion this is a no-brainer but with all the Floyd nuthuggers around it’s difficult to say this without getting thrashed.Posted October 24, 2013 10:49 am

Hopkins really is the most pathetic media hungry whore of a grappler/head butter in boxing history
Hopkins has made a career of also cherry pickin and avoiding the top guys at their Peaks.. the avoided Roy Jones for years when Roy Jones was at his best. His biggest claim to fame came from beating two 154lb’ers Tito Trinidad and Oscar Delahoya.. up until those fights he was lost in the Friday Nights fight circuit avoiding top fighters at and above 160lbs even though everyone knew he was really a light Heavyweight. His fight with Echols was one of the dirtiest fights I’ve ever seen. Echols rocked Hopkins and then Hopkins Body Slams Echols.. Anytime Hopkins has fought guys closer to his true size he has made it a very ugly dirty fight aka as his Philly Style.. The guy is a douche bag former criminal. Let him fight Adonis Stevenson instead of trying to make a fight with a 147lb Mayweather..Posted October 24, 2013 10:41 am
How about fighting Pacquiao, he is smaller and one dimensional isn’t it?
This fight has 00000000 possibility of happening Nards trying to up the profile of this current bout by discussing a far out scenario like Floyd facing him..This just further illustrates the POWER of the Mayweather brand… No fighter has the respect for his skills nor financial pull that Floyd does, he took over boxing with his fists and brain now no one can see beyond him from 168-140…. This just about somes up how great floyd wise, as a brand and as the most skillful fighter ever. The fact that bhop would even consider calling out his name shows that mayweather has truly beaten everyone in and around his division. People want him to fight sergio or GGG, guys who are about 2 divisions heavier than him, not to mention floyd could probably make 140 cause his walking around weight is 147 and these guys trim down to make 160. Thats like asking GGG or sergio to fight stevenson or another LHW. but no one would expect them to do that. But they expect this from floyd simply because he is damn near unbeatable and barely ever loses a round let alone a fight. The opponents that the haters are calling for floyd to fight are the BIGGEST COMPLIMENT anyone could ever pay.Posted October 24, 2013 10:14 am

I’ve said for a while that Floyd is so good that for him to be in competative fights he needs to move up in weight lass to middle or above to give someone a handicap head start. This fight is getting talked about seriously but I was shouting for a mayweather v calzaghe fight at middleweight just before Calzaghe retiredPosted October 24, 2013 9:28 am
This is just more BS. Hopkins is just using this to promote his fight against Murat that nobody cares about. It begs the question, “Will he get passed Murat to score the Floyd fight”, naturally generating more interest. Booooo!Posted October 24, 2013 9:19 am
GOOD matchup! Let Hopkins put his LHW title UP @ 158. Then Floyd WINS a LHW title! WOW!!!Posted October 24, 2013 9:18 am
Umm what about kovelev or Stevenson? Them guys are red hot at the moment and would be an excellent addition to his resemue. However may weather will not take this fight due to weight issues which can’t be resolved. Flloyd is too small to even make middle where hop is to big so this really is a ploy for hop to avoid the real challangePosted October 24, 2013 9:17 am

Looks we all agree here. We as fans need to put a stop to this ridiculous idea. NO ONE wants to see Hopkins and Mayweather. Complete waste of time. If Hopkins is the best choice for Floyd (and clearly he is not) then Floyd should retire. I highly doubt anyone named Mayweather would even consider this anyway. I guarantee they are watching Pac to see if he can make a fight or they’re looking at Tim Bradley. Hopkins is not and should not be a consideration.Posted October 24, 2013 9:12 am
Hopkin would be too old, too slow and too weight drained to do anything. I don’t think it would be a good show at all, I would much rather watch Mayweather out box a weight drained GGG, because in that fight you still have the possiblity of Mayweather being caught with something big.
For the people saying Hopkins in avoiding these new young guns, uh he should be the guy is 48 years old and still finding a way to win against most fighters today. At 48 he needs to pick and choose his fights he has nothing left to prove. I’m 48 and can’t even go for a run anymore (knees bad from too much Basketball and both have been broken at different times in my life) or even try to be in good enough shape to compete in anything except a chess game.Posted October 24, 2013 9:10 am
If Hopkins wins at the weekend
Preferably after setting fire to himselfPosted October 24, 2013 9:09 am
Why should Hopkins fight these unknown young guns?? Make the fight with little Floyd and beat the kid up!!! “if B-Hop was ten years younger he’d kick your ass!!”Posted October 24, 2013 8:57 am
Hopkins isn’t the first …. and he wont be the last to say dumb things but, he is entitled to his opinion. That said, a fight with Floyd would be an exhibition fight and nothing more. If some say floyd shouldnt fight GGG because he’s too big and pink floyd too small…..then, fighting hopkins would be disastrous. It would have the same carnival appeal as when floyd “fought” and beat Big Show in wrestling. Anyone with a pulse knows that would be physically impossible to floyd to actually accomplish short of bringing a baseball bat. A fight with Hopkins, while good on paper, would have the attractiveness of a circus….. all smoke and mirrors and empty on substance.Posted October 24, 2013 8:53 am
MAGOMED ABDUSALAMOV very true ! Hopkins did this tactic years ago when Calzaghe wanted him 5 yrs prior. Hopkins did every turn to avoid Cal. Fight Cal when he was old so Hop fanboys can say well Hop was old.Posted October 24, 2013 8:01 am
Did anyone see that insulting comment Hopkins made about Robinson and Sugar Ray being boring ? Only a straight up loser like Hopkins would say something like that !Posted October 24, 2013 7:54 am
popkins looking for someway anyway to avoid faceing either stevenson or kovalevPosted October 24, 2013 7:41 am
Give him a sedative and put him to bedPosted October 24, 2013 7:29 am
