Maybe your the guy 2 Knock him out anonymous? Ha ha ha….there isnt going 2 be, never was and never should b a fight between Hopkins and Mayweather….if Floyd fights at 160 it would only b 4 a belt. Hopkins doesnt look like he could b sharp at 160….he lookt in worse shape than iv seen ever.Posted October 27, 2013 4:19 am
Boxtra your a stinker u suck ballsPosted October 26, 2013 8:19 pm
‘hopkins by decision,’ the self professed ‘greatest prophet ever born’ really going out on a limb there, isn’t he?Posted October 26, 2013 8:04 pm
What Hopkins does OUTSIDE the Ring has nothing to DO with Boxing SO go to TMZ.com if you want to talk about what men are doing OUTSIDE the Ring….Hopkins by decision.Posted October 26, 2013 7:59 pm
popkins and sh#t go hand in hand.Posted October 26, 2013 5:51 pm
Hidalgo.., “You also said, “There’s no comparison in their skill and defensive mastery at all.”
“Ok. WHOSE skill and defensive mastery are you talking about? You just mentioned a mess of fighters.”
Obviously I’m talking about Kovalev… The guy Pavlik was being compared to.
“Martinez and Taylor didn’t fight.” … Nope, Taylor would have gotten knocked out like he did vs Abraham, Froch, and Pavlik.. But Sergio was a very small middleweight making his 2nd start at the weight — and Pavlik couldn’t handle him … That was my point.Posted October 26, 2013 5:29 pm
Boring someone Knock this fool out alreadyPosted October 26, 2013 5:16 pm
In all seriousness, anyone on here saying Bernard Hopkins is not a Legend is a f*(king idiot.Posted October 26, 2013 5:00 pm
That super fight will happen under a couple of conditions:
1. Once they dig Joe Louis up to face Larry Holmes for the undercard
When those things happen then the super fight will be finalized.Posted October 26, 2013 4:56 pm
Hopkins stopped being relevant a long time ago. He’s now just a side show freak who no one wants to see.Posted October 26, 2013 4:48 pm
Popkins lied to his mama and kept fighting. I put the voodoo karma gincks on you popkins, your going to lose tonight, karma is a beotch.Posted October 26, 2013 4:44 pm
if a 50 year old gets a super fight then boxing is indeed dead (in america). hopkins should be ignored and based on the lack of comments, pretty much is.Posted October 26, 2013 4:40 pm
“Pavlik never looked that awesome. Not in his rematch with Taylor where he jabbed all night and settled for a meek decision—instead of blasting the inept punching bag out—like everybody else did except Hopkins….Pavik got knocked down by Jermaine Taylor…”
WTF Tark? You conveniently forgot to add that Pavlik TKO’d Taylor in their first bout and that Pavlik only has two losses, I don’t care who “bloodied” him, and one of those losses WASN’T to Edison Miranda, whom Pavlik TKOd. Martinez never even fought Taylor, so there’s no bar to compare against there.
You also said, “There’s no comparison in their skill and defensive mastery at all.”
Ok. WHOSE skill and defensive mastery are you talking about? You just mentioned a mess of fighters.Posted October 26, 2013 4:31 pm
If murat believes in himself he stops hopkins watch and see he’s better than u lot thinkPosted October 26, 2013 3:19 pm
16 comments says everything, no one gives a crap about Hopkins. Get ready for ANOTHER terrible excuse for a fight from this boring old man.Posted October 26, 2013 3:10 pm
thanks AnonymousPosted October 26, 2013 3:04 pm
Spot on Tark, Pavlik was seriously drinking by the time he fought Hopkins. He had no strength in that fight and you can see it. Hopkins comes along with the right timing when these fighter are at there worst. Hopkins as a person has a persona of a full on jerk. It has been said he will argue with you just to make himself look better. I don’t like the guy and have no respect for him.Posted October 26, 2013 3:03 pm
To see if he’s good enough to warrant a fight with Floyd, Hopkins ought first to fight GGG.Posted October 26, 2013 2:44 pm
Pavlik never looked that awesome. Not in his rematch with Taylor where he jabbed all night and settled for a meek decision—instead of blasting the inept punching bag out—like everybody else did except Hopkins.
Pavlik was a descending alcoholic and night reveler for Hopkins. He was suffering from staph infections and getting worse instead of better. He fought Hopkins in horrible shape—with a badly swollen bursa sac on his left elbow—and he was loaded with antibiotics to suppress bronchitis.
Those aren’t excuses, those are facts.
Pavlik, “I had nothing. I felt like I was carrying 100 pound weights in both hands. I couldn’t punch at all.” He was only 20% of Kelly Pavlik.
B-Hop looked like crap when he fought Chad Dawson—losing on all cards to the same softie Superman Stevenson and Andre Ward beat standing on their heads. B-Hop is cherry-picking all over the place to keep from facing Kovalev … and so is Stevenson.
Kovalev smashed Nathan Cleverly like he didn’t exist. In his backyard. Pavlik got knocked down by wimpy Jemain Taylor, bloodied by flailing Edison Miranda, and boxed to death by Sergio Martinez.
There’s no comparison in their skill and defensive mastery at all.Posted October 26, 2013 2:40 pm
Fight Mayweather? Why would Mayweather want to fight Hopkins? Is a Hopkins fight going to attract a huge PPV audience? Certainly not based on Hopkins drawing power. Mayweather doesn’t need Hopkins, and I cannot fathom a reason that Floyd would wish to make this fight.Posted October 26, 2013 2:39 pm
flash knock down
Lol no one likes BHop’s style of fighting that includes me as well. I don’t like him as a person either. Hopkins is a convict and he has been coning the boxing world for many years. He will win this next fight but tell him to fight Andre Ward first and if he can win that fight mayb e move down to 154 and be Floyd to fight you. I don’t like Bernard but he is a very talented boxer one of the best that has ever lived.Posted October 26, 2013 2:33 pm
20 defenses at MW and defeats over Pavlick, the man at MW after Taylor, as well as legit LHW champs like Tarver, Pascal entails that Hopkins is already HOF bound and a legend, one of the best of this generation and perhaps an ATG. That being said, he ain’t pretty to watch and his success is predicating on neutralizing his opponents’ strengths. Hopkins would have given hell to anyone at MW throughout boxing history. Maybe you wouldn’t have wanted to watch him do it, but his consistency, dedication and longevity compel respect.Posted October 26, 2013 2:29 pm
spot on dan, bobkins will never be a real legend.Posted October 26, 2013 2:21 pm
I can see why Hopkins wants to keep boxing, but he needs to be matched right. People are talking up Kovalev and Stevenson but I remember it wasnt that long ago when Kelly Pavlik looked just as awsome blowing people out of the water left right and centre. Pavlik was undesputed middleweight champ as well and had better names on his resume at that point that Stevenson or Kovalev have. People were screaming about Hopkins getting seriously hurt. But then he took Pavlik to school. It takes a fighter with serious fundemental skills to beat Hopkins not a heavy handed puncher. Hopkins has the skills to nulify both Stevensons and Kovalevs attacks.Posted October 26, 2013 2:14 pm
Bhop will look like he always looks. Boring, mechanical, methodical! Wake me when its over please!Posted October 26, 2013 2:08 pm
Bhop signs autographs and takes pictures when the cameras are on . When off Bhop is gone, ignoring people. This is all a business to Hopkins. It’s a grand show. It comes down to money. Nobody in boxing is as shrewd and tight and greedy as Hopkins. This is why he is the most hated person in the sport.Posted October 26, 2013 1:30 pm
Bernard keeps saying cementing his legacy garbage. Nobody cares about Hopkins. He thinks by fighting long he is a legend beyond Sugar Ray Robinson or Leonard. Hopkins couldn’t be a pimple full of puss on there behinds to those legends.Posted October 26, 2013 1:28 pm
His finest hour came when he gave a boxing lesson to Trinidad. I really don’t care to see him fight Mayweather. Bhop can’t drop down low enough and Maweather can’t pack weight on that little frame of his. Mayweather has to keep fighting fighters from other countries to draw any kind of gate. Mayweather vs anyone from the US is a no sale. Unless they dust off Oscar DeLaHoya for a fight. All respect to BHop but nobody wants to see you fight.Posted October 26, 2013 1:27 pm
Really ? this articles title is soooo misleading even if Hopkins looked good does he really deserve a so called Super fight ??? Is this the state of boxing now ? What does Hopkins throw a whopping 15 punches per round all in the sense of it being called SWEET SCIENCE ???? Please no more.Posted October 26, 2013 1:24 pm
Full of admiration for Hopkins’ dedication, conditioning and all the rest of it, but i don’t particularly want to watch him fight.
It’s Me, Ernie
He hasn’t looked good for many years…Posted October 26, 2013 12:27 pm
