Thanks for the link.
TARK, your correct about Firtha, no shame there, putting food on the table.
Wilder is feeling pretty good about now, hope he doesn’t over-hype his own psyche or he’ll be in some deep water soon. He’d best be back to some basics and amp up his cardio for the bigger dogs before he finds the water is too deep.

Yes Dangermouse Loves the Beegees, I think that Russian leprechaun did look like he was probably a welterweight. He still looks like he could make junior-welter to me if he really wanted to though.

The mid-fight krumping was hilarious wasn’t it? Poor Deonotonay looked like a new born giraffe with a broken leg on a slippery surface. haha.

I’m not impressed with Firtha… They found somebody who was willing to get knocked out for a reasonable price.. That’s all that fight says to me.. Firtha knew he was being bought for cannon fodder and still tried his best every minute of every round.

Most guys knowing they have no shot at winning, wouldn’t have gotten up from those 1st round blows that put Firtha down. He’s an honest man — just not a very good boxer.

Firtha was willing but he should not have lasted 30 seconds, come on Wilder fight a pro in the top 50! That was an embarrassment.

I’d like to see Wilder fight David Price. They’re roughly at the same level, and both of them are big bangers. The match-up would bring in a big purse and would be an excellent test for Deontay.

KL…Well really not a fan of the hype more so.But I agree he has some positive things about him..size..power..decent hand speed..and looks like he goes for the kill when its there. But I see enough flaws aswell, that might be deadly to him when he steps-up to live wires. Also at 28 or 29 hes not a kid, learning gets harder as we get older. And fighting all these cans dosent help his cause either. But overall I dont see the hvwt. div. loaded with a killers row,so that also helps him.Guys like Hugie Fury and Jousha are very young and we dont know if they will become killers unstopable in the future. So really do I write Wilder off completely..no I dont. But would I be shocked if he gets exposed when he steps up..no not really.Well lets see time will tell, sooner or later.

Yeah put Deontay in with Solis or stop the BS of saying everyone is ducking Deontay. Solis would easily be the best name on Wilder’s record, can’t stand Golden Boy, I’m sure Wilder wants the big names but Golden Boy are a disgrace.

Breaking news … Audley Harrison’s biggest fan and regular employer Eddie Hearn is about to announce Harrison’s return to the ring in the US versus UK Heavyweight Pirzefighter tournament next month. We all know Audley is boxing’s biggest joke, but Eddie can’t get enough of him. You heard it here first. Will Audley ever just go away? Not with Eddie around he won’t.

Wilder shows his lack of skill and confidence when he was recently quoted as saying, “I’ll conquer the world and then Tyson Fury.” or something to that effect. I’m paraphrasing of course, but if that quote is accurate and Wilder is such a monster in the division… why wait?!? Go after Tyson Fury now. Fury isn’t a great Heavyweight and if we are to believe that Wilder is the future of Heavyweight boxing well… I’m sorry… but I’m not eating what the media is shoveling.

Watch his 10 ft wet noodle legs simultaneously dance to two different genres of music at the same time.

See how his head’s still as groggy as a drunken Irish lottery winner first thing Sunday morning after the referee gives him a 17 second count.

Wilder can box. How many punches did he get hit with in 4 rounds? Maybe nine that made solid contact, and none that were threatening. He didn’t duck or slip many adroitly though. He’s not smooth. That’s a concern.

Posted October 28, 2013 1:08 am

Dangermouse p4p#1

I would actually love it if Wilder were the real deal – he is like a big Paul Williams, just going in there and flinging punches about like a drunk Mexican winging away at a pinata. It`s entertaining in a kids football match kind of way.

It`s patently obvious he can`t box though, and there is a reason the sport is called “boxing” and not “spaz-winging”.

Oscar is setting up a fake ranking with the WBC. The WBC ranks Wilder #3 without Wilder ever fighting anyone in the top 50 , 75, 1,000,000?! This is absurd. Boxing is getting to be Wrestling. Oscar, Arum, Don King, etc., all believe that the boxing fans are retarded to believe their crap. At one time I thought Oscar was going to bring some honesty to boxing, but he has gotten very greedy. I rank Oscar with Don King, he appears to be even worse than Arum!

Fans are impressed wtih his punching power. Not his opponents. Can they possibly find somebody who can go 5 rounds? All his fights could have been scheduled for 4 rounds.

You don’t go from 4 rounds to a Wladimir fight if you want a 15 year career. From the sound of it, they’re working on a Wladimir fight. How many fights has Mariusz Wach been able to get since he fought Wladimir?

Wilder is total crap. If American fight fans cant see that and haven’t got the balls to come out and admit it then they’ve lost the ability to see and think rationally. The USA has had some of the best heavyweights in history and the list is long. Wilder is a joke compared to them even with 30 fights (all bums) The guy is total crap and the minute he fights a good quality heavyweight he’ll get nailed. Fury will KO him. Haye would totally hammer him. And the Brothers Klit would crush him into the dust. Arreola would beat the crap out of him. Wilder has skinny legs and wobbled from a weak jab! The great Joe Louis would be turning in his grave at the ridiculous hype Wilder gets.

Robert Helenius KO’ed Sam Peter, Lamon Brewster, and Liakhovich a couple of years ago when it might have meant any kind of anything.

We all still had questions over him, and were proved right when he got smacked about like a pinball by Chisora for 12 rounds.

Wilder beats Liakhovich years later, after he has suffered yet another KO defeat, and then gets himself out of a Chisora fight (that he has shown no interest in rescheduling) by choking a $50 hooker – and we are supposed to be IMPRESSED?

Goldenboy is supposed to be the premiere Promotional company in the world – TV deals, big money, all the glitz and glamour – and yet they can`t put together a better fight in 30 matches than Adam Booth or Eddie Used car salesman Hearn can in 5 minutes on the phone?

Noooooooo way.

Air traffic control at GBP has Wilder locked in a b.u.m.slaying pattern until both Klitschkos retire.

Wilder just continues to fight no names and shot fighters. Anthony Joshua just had his 2nd pro win against the kind of fighter Wilder was beating only last year! Ive never seen a pro heavyweight active for over 5 years and in his late 20′s still be fighting his 30th straight no hoper, novice or shot fighter. Its a joke and a con. Faruk Saleem and Chauncey Welliver come to mind, and both those were badly exposed. He does not deserve a top 20 rating. He’s got that stupidly high rating because a ranked USA heavy = $$$$, and thats it!

Posted October 27, 2013 8:39 pm

Boxer

Wilder was exposed last night if you ask me regardless of his win, when the fight first began you could right away see the deontay can’t fight backing up’ and that in the heavyweight division is a no no, another thing his overall boxing skills are not really good either, I see now that he wins caus his opponents are scared sitting targets scared to let their hands go, I mean in reality I think arreola could even stop him

Posted October 27, 2013 8:36 pm

@KL – Fury fought Firtha when he was 22 or 23 years old and had only 15 fights! Wilder is 28 and has had 30 fights. Firtha has fought just twice in over 2 years since losing to Fury, and was only able to get an MD over serial loser Robert Hawkins in his last fight, meaning he is shot. Fury beat a better and more active version of Firtha when he was 5 or 6 years younger than Wilder and had only half the bouts Wilder has. All That pretty much puts this fight into perspective.

Posted October 27, 2013 6:09 pm

Kelly Smunt….

I think the best plan for Wilder is to meet a true challenge to help him develop his inner person.

What I would have him do is climb the biggest mountain in the USA, and when he gets to the top he can jump around like ROcky, then he can walk to the edge and look over it and think about all the things he wants to achieve and how brief life is, and how hard he needs to work.

Get him to have a real enlightening, goal crystalising moment.

Then push him off and spare the world his epileptic spiderm0nkey routine.

Posted October 27, 2013 6:07 pm

KL

Kelly Smunt “I mean if you want to teach a kid to box, you can have him watch Wilder and basically say “Don`t do that”.”

Yeah…….kid if you watch Wilder you could end up with 30 KOs!

Wilder is green, but so far his assets have managed to outweigh his weaknesses.
Surely it is better for Wilder to have his flaws revealed now so he and Breland can work on ironing them out before they step up in class?

Posted October 27, 2013 5:43 pm

KL

dwc I see you are no fan of Wilder……or would I be more correct in saying that you are no fan of the Wilder hype machine?
I was never a fan of Seth Mitchell as a boxer rather than hating the hype, and was not too surprised when he got ko’ed by Banks.
With Wilder though I in my opinion think you a tiny bit too harsh on the guy. Now sure he hasn’t beaten anyone that highly ranked yet, and has looked a little green at points in his fights, but that said he STILL has an impressive KO record regardless who those 30 opponents have been, because despite all his flaws, Wilder has STILL managed to find his target and hit it fast and hard…..now don’t forget this is a flawed green fighter so the task of getting 30 KOs all inside 4 rounds is quite some feat.
Wilder is by no means the finished article, but so far so good, and outside the Klitschkos and Haye, I think ALL the other contenders have flaws and weaknesses, eg Pulev easy to hit, Jennings lack of genuine power,Magomed terrible boxing skills, Solis not in good shape.
I think you also have to factor in that Wilder also has to deal with the added pressure of expecting to get a KO win each and every time, the same pressure is not placed on Fury or Pulev, Jennings…..so in that respect I think Wilder has done well.
Now whilst I think it would be a big mistake to have Wilder facing a Klitschko or even Haye next year, I think there is no real evidence to suggest that Wilder is a “clown or a bum”…….indeed his contemporaries actually rate him quite high……which they wouldn’t if Wilder was a “bum”.
So yes I agree Wilder is a work in progress……but he has potential to be one of the better contenders out there.

Posted October 27, 2013 5:34 pm

Kelly Smunt….

Wilder is quite possibly the least talented heavyweight in the top 20.

I mean if you want to teach a kid to box, you can have him watch Wilder and basically say “Don`t do that”.

His clownissh telegraphed windmilling is an embarassment to boxing, and the only reason it issn`t being exposed is his teams refusal to even entertain the idea of removing his training wheels.

Posted October 27, 2013 5:15 pm

Wilder could make a fortune over the next 2 years fighting lower-level opponents. He fights a lot, looks like Mr. Universe, and most of all, he can bang. That’s what many fans want to see. As a result, his TV ratings will continue to climb. It’s possible Wilder, (along with Provodnikov) could become one of national TV’s biggest boxing attractions.

Firtha at best was a medicore fighter. But after Firtha lost to Fury he only had 2 more fights and looked horrible after the Fury fight. In the Wilder fight Firtha needed a bra…and looked a mess, sloopy and slow.Wilder win here sadly still showed very little about him overall.Wilder has decent power, and can finish a hurt fighter. But Wilder has many flaws aswell, dosent move well,is very hitable, and that chin dosent seem to solid, his ring IQ dosent seem to high either. So many decent fighters to rate him against, but his team will try for a title shot I belive…get the bigger money.Because Wilder could get derailed pretty easy, against better fighters…so why take the chance if they dont have to…

Hell even Wlad isn’t immune in talking up his opponents like Piennta and Mormeck………both of whom I’d suspect would be early KO victims of Wilder……..and let’s not forget Vitali saying that Albert Sosnowski had more experience than himself and therefore he posed a big threat!

Golden Boy Shaefer wants Wilder to fight Stivern next for the possible vacant WBC crown…….this bout makes more sense than Sitvern v Arreola rematch.
If Stivern were to face Arreola then Stivern would have to beat Arreola twice in order to lift the crown, whereas Arreola only needs to beat Stivern once to lift the crown, now even in the bizarrely poorly regulated sport of boxing that makes no sense at all.
At least a fight with Wilder would mean Stivern only has to beat his man once to lift the crown.
As to how a Stivern vs Wilder fight might pan out……..well I thought Stivern did a good job on Arreola, but Wilder despite his flaws has the physical advantages and speed that Arreola doesn’t.
I would edge towards Wilder, being able to land the big punches quicker than Stivern……..although Stivern may become the first opponent that Wilder can’t KO.
This is a fight that SHOULD be made!

Posted October 27, 2013 12:51 pm

Slow down Camp Wilder!!! We don’t want another Michal Grant on our hands. I think Wilder would capture the title by beating Stiverne, but then what? Beating guys like Stiverne, Arreola, Tony Thompson is one thing, but Wladimer is on an entirely different level. Prove yourself against those type of guys first, then let’s talk Wladimer.

Please don’t anyone say that Wilder showed anything in this fight. From what I have seen of him, he’s not improving at all, his balance is all over the place, and unless I am mistaken, Firtha managed to just CLIP him one time and for a second his legs stiffened out, a lot more need to be known about Wilder, before all the scribes keep ranting and raving about him.

Posted October 27, 2013 11:51 am

Prof Konje

Please don’t waste space writing about Wilder until he beats someone of worth. Whatever happened to his scheduled fight with Fury? It won’t happen because although many consider Fury just a loudmouth, at least he steps up and actually fights someone known.
