Two headed sex beast

Stevens gets flattened in the first round. Golovkin is pure skill and power, Stevens is a bum with a big mouth and nuthin else.

Agreed, and yet people want to see Hopkins fight Mayweather? Boxing is becoming a circus act with such ridiculous talk. I despair at the state it’s in.

Fight Aficionado

Fighting Talk thanks. I lean toward Magoo because he’s got a solid beard and has manhandled everyone so far. But if Perez outboxes him it won’t be a shocker. These type fights that can go either way are exactly what boxing needs. Why HBO is televising but not promoting it is beyond me.

Posted October 31, 2013 4:42 pm

Fight Aficionado

“who the hell is Perez?” – Undefeated prospect from Cuba. Good boxer. Mago is a poor boxer but a big puncher. Great stylistic matchup here that should have tons of buzz.

This should be a good fight while it last. GGG I believe is gonna win by KO.

Maybe be because nobody really knows either of the heavies or the simple fact that Americans really don’t care about the Heavyweight seen.

Sensible comments from a genuine fight fan. Good to see. It’s Perez for the win for me in a tough fight for both of them.

HBO co-feature: unbeaten heavyweights Magomed Abdusalamov (18-0, 18 KOs) vs Mike Perez (19-0, 12 KOs). Odds are even money. Is this not exactly what dudes have been calling for? We need more heavyweight prospects (Wilder cough cough) to take such risks if they want to be considered a valid contender.

Posted October 31, 2013 1:10 pm

Fight Aficionado

This is a decent fight but everyone knows GGG will KTFO Stevens. What’s surprising is the lack of chatter about Magoo vs Perez in the co-main. We’re talking about two top undefeated heavyweight prospects. Someone’s 0 will go, the winner is on the cusp of top 10 and should be considered a top up and comer. Is it because neither is an American?

LIES, LIES, & MORE LIES

Ouma lost a highly controversial decision to Vanes Martirosyan two fights prior to facing Golovkin that most thought he deserved to win, flooring Vanes along the way.

Proksa was a middleweight, he stopped former IBF champion Sebastian Sylvester in 3 one-sided rounds. Sylvester had just lost his title to Daniel Geale on a SD 5 months earlier.

Ishida was very durable, he’d just lasted the 12 round distance against WBO MIDDLEWEIGHT champion Dmitry Pirog in his previous fight. Golovkin put him to sleep in 3 rounds.

Stevens is not the first real middle Golovkin has fought since he came to the USA, Lajuan Simon was.

Most of Simon’s fights were at super-middle in fact. Simon had never been off his feet or stopped before.

He lasted the full 12 round distance against a prime Arthur Abraham and Sebastian Sylvester in challenges for their WBA and IBF titles respectively. Golovkin laid him out on his back in a couple of minutes.

Makoto Fuchigami was also a middleweight.

Most of Stevens’ fights have been above the super middleweight limit.

He was the US national amateur champion at light heavyweight.

He’s still ranked third on the NY State all time amateur KO stoppage win list. He’s fought as high as 180 lbs before

LIES, LIES, & MORE LIES

Mackiln was a MIDDLEWEIGHT, he lost to Jamie Moore 7 years ago and never fought at the weight again because he was drained.

He only fought at jr. middle once in the last 10 years. He also lost the last time he fought at that weight before he fought Moore.

Macklin was the British and European champion at MIDDLEWEIGHT.

He won both of those titles by KO 3 and KO 1 respectively.

In his 3 fights prior to getting destroyed by Golovkin in 3 rounds, sent to the hospital with a broken rib.

Macklin fought to a controversial draw against WBA super champion Felix Sturm over in Germany that many felt he deserved to win.

He also gave WBC champion Sergio Martinez all he could handle in a crack at his tittle as well in a fight that he was level on the judges scorecards going into the penultimate round.

Macklin was coming off a first round KO win over former WBA champion at jr. middle Joachim Alcine, who himself was coming off a big upset win over Canadian KO machine David Lemieux.

Macklin said Golovkin is by far the best fighter he’s ever fought.

LIES, LIES, & MORE LIES

Golovkin fought Ian Gardner FIVE AND A HALF YEARS AGO, NOT THREE.

Gardener WAS a middleweight, NOT a jr. middle.

Gardener lasted into the 11th round against the naturally bigger Chad Dawson at super middleweight in a bout that was scheduled for 12 rounds, whereas when he lasted the distance against Golovkin it was an 8 round bout.

Gardener also lasted the 12 round distance against Arthur Abraham. He was the first man to do so.

Gardener was coming off a 3 KO win over decent contender Deandre Latimore when he fought Golovkin.

Latimore knocked out Sechew Powell in 7 rounds, the quickest stoppage loss of Powell’s career.

Powell KO’d future IBF champion Cornelius Bundrage in a round.

Latimore had lost a razor close SD to Cory Spinks for the IBF jr. middle title.

The men that GGG has fought in the last 3 years. Ian Gardner a Jr.middle, (went the full distance with GGG, ko by Dawson), Maklin came up from jr. middle a few years back, (stopped by Jamie Moore, ko by GGG) Ouma a jr. middle (washed up a long time ago stopped on his feet by the ref, due to cuts).
Ishida Jr. middle (lost to Paul Williams just before being ko by GGG) And Proska a small polish middle( Lost to an Area british fighter 3 fights before fighting GGG). STEVENS IS THE FIRST REAL MIDDLE THIS GUY HAS FOUGHT SINCE COMING TO USA. He ,GGG, may the second coming of Christ, but he has yet to prove it, lets see if he does it. All this talk about him being superman was the same thing they were saying about Mattysse and Garcia.

Please direct your security guards to tie Idiot Ernie in a burlap sack, and bludgeon it with 80 pound cudgels until it’s drenched with blood. That should calm him down … If not, call me for further directives.

Why does Julie Lederman get all these top assignments? She’s not a good or accurate scorer. She’s been reprimanded for her cards. She still works all these high profile fights. She’s another CJ Ross in the making.

It’s like Duane Ford. The more he got reprimanded for his scoring the more high profile fights he was assigned to. Shouldn’t it be just the opposite?

Woop Woop, GGG is there for the fighting if any of the present top contenders and/or champions want to face him. How could the guy be avoiding anyone? It’s him that’s being avoided. That’s why he can’t get a big fight with a name opponent. Ask his trainer Abel Sanchez or GGG himself. Gennady is ready to go at it with the best any time. Including with Bernie Hopkins, I’d imagine.

yep, GGG is the most avoided fighter around.

Stevens is going down hard. I’ll be surprised if he is still standing after 3 rounds.

I think ggg is the one who gets avoided! He wants to fight 5-6 times a year so only a few can be quality. But chocolate needs to fight him next year. But I think geale should fight him too as barker looks to have 2 fights with strum and a possible fight with Murray so if he wants a title shot that would be good too

You do talk some crap Woop Woop, Macklin was beaten by Martinez, he got beaten worse by GGG. Who are the other scraps he has beaten? The previous two had never been stopped.
As it happens I think Stevens poses a bigger threat than Geale, Sturm, Martinez or Barker, I doubt any of those could seriosly hurt Golovkin, however if Stevens’ punch is as big as everyone thinks it is, well fight on.
Golovkin in five.

Judges

Another fake fight from GGG from hyping up his unranked opponent. GGG needs to stop ducking the real middleweight champs and start fighting them. What is he hiding, it’s all talk and no walk from this guy. Feeding on injured, unranked, long layoff fighters who some had already been knocked senseless from the real champs. Many challenges have been thrown at this guy and he doesn’t respond, well, until that guy is booked for a match up with someone else. The bandwagon is rolling, time for the suckers to hop on.
