TARK Having worked with and trained fighters over the years I get frequent calls from friends asking for my opinions on certain fights. Before I answer I usually ask them if they intend on betting based on my opinion. Why? Because I can get my picks wrong, like most anyone else, and don’t want them to lose their money, especially when I’m picking an upset. (Only BOXTRADAMUS picks “ALL” of the fights correctly. He’s the “greatest fight prophet ever born”. Ask him, he’ll gladly tell you himself. LOL!) Sometimes a fan or “prophet” predicts a one-sided blowout win for the favorite, while I go with the underdog. The fights ends up to be a hotly contested or controversial win for the favorite. (like Chavez Jr vs Vera for example. I picked Vera to win.) Yes, the favorite won put WHO in reality was closer to the truth?? Was it the ones that picked the one-sided blowout favorite? Or the ones that predicted the upset? Our resident ESB “Prophet” will rant and praise himself for being correct, but was he? Oh well… Sometimes I’m wrong with my underdog picks because of my experience as a trainer. I’ll explain: Sometimes I look at the scenario and the UPSET POSSIBILITIES if the underdog were MY fighter and was listening to MY instructions hoping that his trainer sees the same things that I do. I do occasionally get calls from other trainers asking my opinions on strategies, and weaknesses and strengths of both, fighter and favored opponent. Peace!Posted November 4, 2013 9:22 am
That’s what it’s all about EZ E… Not being influenced by “expert” opinon — or by public opinion.
One of the easiest and most lucrative underdogs was Holyfield vs Tyson I… Another was Foreman vs Frazier… Another? Forrest-Mosley… and yet another was Donaire-Darchinyan.Posted November 4, 2013 3:10 am
TARK We’ve disagreed a bit in the past but here we’re on the same page. I openly picked Bradley over Marquez and also stated that Rigo’s smarts and style would control the tempo of the fight vs Donaire, confuse & shut down Nonito’s offense and take out of his game plan. As for Garcia vs Matthysse, I wasn’t too sure. In all honesty, I picked Danny more with my heart basically because he’s a Boricua, but not overly confident of his victory, practically a ‘pick-em’ fight with a very slight edge for Danny. I even mentioned that the judges might give a close fight to Matthysse to sort’a over-compensate/make up for the times he got “stiffed” by the officials. But yes, like yourself, I do kind’a pride myself in calling the upsets.Posted November 3, 2013 11:27 pm
In other words Boxtra… You can’t say..
“My pick is Donaire.. But if Rigondeaux follows my advice he’ll win.”
I guess you didn’t think he’d follow it because he wasn’t your pick.Posted November 3, 2013 10:56 pm
EZ E.., That’s true.. The upsets are really what set you apart.. If you picked Rignodeaux to beat Donaire.. Garcia to beat Matthysse.. and Bradley to beat Marquez.. then you’re getting pretty good, maybe not great … The general public and most of the experts didn’t get those right.
Unfortunately for Boxtradamus he got all those WRONG — so he’s a run-of-the-mill picker at best.Posted November 3, 2013 10:53 pm
Broner is a street thug with no respect. boxing needs a committee like football where you are disciplined for stupid stuff outside the ring I hope Broner gets his ass kicked I also heard those girls may sue because Broners credit card was denied.Posted November 3, 2013 1:31 pm
Maidana never fights defensively,and Broner does.Right up Chino,s ally.Posted November 3, 2013 12:17 pm
hmmm… It’s cool when you are able to pick the relatively obvious winners with regularity. My sincere props to you, whoever you are. However, when you can pick the UPSETS with regularity like I do, it places us in a UNIQUE & SPECIAL class of our own. My sincere props to them as well, naturally.Posted November 3, 2013 9:32 am
Just pick the more SKILLED Fighter and you’ll be 95% CORRECT like ME. When it comes to picking Boxing matches I am the ALPHA and all others are the OMEGA. I’m sharper than TARK and more CORRECT than CORRECTAMUNDO. I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!!Posted November 3, 2013 4:52 am
Nope. Having bias towards SKILLS is the key. Thats why I had Rigondeaux over Donaire as long as he threw Arum’s advice in the trash about being more exciting like he convinced Bradley to DO vs Provodnikov. Rigo is the 2nd most SKILLED Boxer in the Sport SO I’m biased towards that. Just as I’m biased towards Floyd because he has more SKILLS. When you’re as GREAT as I am at analyzing and guaging SKILL levels then picking the WINNER is pretty EASY.Posted November 3, 2013 4:48 am
Mostly it’s reality fitting my assertions to a tee… Like I predicted Berto beating Zaveck… Guerrero beating Berto… Trout beating Cotto… and Kovalev KOing Cleverly.
Gouge didn’t get any of those right… He was one of the few who picked Cleverly to beat Kovalev and his analysis was very poor.
I had Floyd-Canelo going 12… Matthysse flattening Peterson… Garcia-Matthysse going 12… and Bradley-Marquez going 12…
Sredmond didn’t get any of those right.
Herron is pretty good. He had Kovalev beating Cleverly, he says. But missed on a bunch of others including saying Matthysse-Garcia was almost sure to end with a KO … I didn’t see any KO ending there.
To me, if you’re a strong analyst — you need to have an idea how the styles are going to matchup and interact — what the character of the action is going to be like — and basically be able to predict the outcome more often than not.. To me, 80% is a good benchmark for a strong analyst.. Saome are better.. Even then you can’t let their opinions sway you.. A lack of bias is the key.Posted November 3, 2013 2:19 am
@TARK says…. “No tunnel vision here brother.. I’m one of the most open minded people on the planet.”
Everyone thinks they are open minded. Its really for others to make this call about a particular person.
My vote TARK is that no you are not that open minded. You are very set in your ways, and rather than admit to being wrong you will twist reality till it fits your assertions.Posted November 2, 2013 9:34 pm
Sergei Kovalev that isPosted November 2, 2013 9:33 pm
Herron.., “Sergei isn’t a proficient inside fighter.”
When and where did you arrive at that piece of knowledge? I’m not being critical… I just want to know your process of analysis.Posted November 2, 2013 9:33 pm
I’ve listened enough Herron.. I’ve made my evaluation..
BTW… Kovalev and Cleverly DID work inside if you remember correctly and Cleverly didn’t do well.. Cleverly tried to grab inside and Kovlev floored him with liver shots.. Kovalev is very similar to Ward. He works inside, outside, upside and downside. He’s a complete fighter with a KO punch… That’s scary …He was an easy pick in that fight.
But it’s not that fight… It was all the analysis on Berto vs Zaveck… Berto vs Guerrero… Cotto vs Trout and so forth… I don’t recall a correct pick by Gouge that you put out there.
You say you have a 50/50 chance of calling a fight right.. If you’re a great analyst, you have at least an 80% chance of getting it right.
But you have to know styles and how they interact… you have to recognize skills… you have to recognize poor form… you have to be able to see guys who put strength on punches versus guys who throw punches without effort — and with excellent leverage… you need to be able to evaluate things like defense, strength, conditioning, toughness, mental agility, speed, and punching power
You need to be scrupulously objective and not swayed by friendships, the odds, or “expert” opinion… All that is hard to do.Posted November 2, 2013 9:27 pm
Well, TARK…you can always listen in tonight and listen for yourself…because Gogue is better than most when it comes to analysis…even you, brother.
It would take me too long to explain everything regarding that write up and analysis piece for Kovlev and Cleverly that you consistently draw from, but Sergei isn’t a proficient inside fighter and that was Cleverly’s only chance in winning the fight.
How was that an incorrect analysis.
Gogue was merely outlining Cleverly’s best chance in winning the fight; to smother Kovalev’s offense and not give him the distance he needs to work.
He had no chance in trying to outbox Kovalev from the outside because he’s a pocket brawler. Any good trainer would have been able realize what Gogue was saying, TARK.Posted November 2, 2013 8:13 pm
@Herron.., No tunnel vision here brother.. I’m one of the most open minded people on the planet.
… “If a person makes an incorrect prediction, they automatically don’t know what they’re talking about in your mind.”
That’s not true… ANYONE can pick a fight wrong—when it’s a close call.
But when someone says Kovalev has to stay off the ropes … and shouldn’t let a guy maneuver inside … when Kovalev’s a much stronger and better infighter??? OK, a strong expert could get that wrong too… possibly he hadn’t seen these guys fight a lot.
But when that was on top of two other pieces of analysis he gave that weren’t in the ballpark???
I don’t think I’m over the top by saying Ward is a better expert. His analysis would tend to get you closer the character of a matchup, whether a fight is going the distance or or not so you can play the over or under … and who is being underrated or overrated by the other “experts” out there.Posted November 2, 2013 7:50 pm
You don’t know what you’re talking about here. You have tunnel vision, TARK. If a person makes an incorrect prediction, they automatically don’t know what they’re talking about in your mind.
That’s absurd and shows your immaturity of the sport.
If your analysis and keys to victory are right on regarding both fighters, the prediction is pretty much just icing on the cake.
Anyone can make a prediction in boxing…you have a 50/50 chance. But analyzing a strategy for victory requires skill…a lot more than merely taking a guess.Posted November 2, 2013 7:08 pm
Herron…, “Get off Ward’s nuts. LOL”
I’m the guy who said Kovalev would beat Ward.. Does that sound like a guy who’s on Ward’s nuts???? HELL NO!!! Giving one of the best credit is not being on his nuts.
I’m giving Ward credit for knowing what he’s doing — and knowing what he’s talking about. He does have the background and the knowledge.. I gave Gouge a few chances.. I’ll give anyone a few chances, but there’s very few experts out there who are real.
A lot of people are great at flapping their yap—but don’t know a lot. If they pretend to know what they’re talking about and really don’t know much … and when there are so many knowledgeable guys out there, why would I put my faith in their analysis? I don’t.
YOU didn’t even take Gouge’s word for it on Kovalev-Cleverly … You thought he was way off the mark … and he was.Posted November 2, 2013 6:42 pm

meanwhile, i was impressed with Maidana’s jab(?!?) in his comeback v. Soto-Karass (still hoping for that rematch) and his startled by his quick cracking fists v. Josesito. Broner better watch himself on the inside or even mid-range. Maidana’s either peaking or at his peak and is a Very dangerous opponent who will only go down the hard way . . . and then get back up(?!) to pick up where he left off. i anticipate he’ll go down a couple of times v. Broner but if his past resilience is any clue, he won’t stay down for good.Posted November 2, 2013 12:39 pm

Roy “articulate”? in what language?Posted November 2, 2013 12:32 pm
Tark, Ward often doesn’t know what to say. Sometimes waiting for his commentary is like watching grass grow. Plus, he’s not as articulate as Roy. He also makes mistakes and miscalls. Jones is much better than Ward.
I think Gogue would do at least as good a job as Ward.Posted November 2, 2013 12:31 pm

Not really. I would rather hear yours than Gogue’s. Your analysis is not bad at times.
Roy Jones actually gives very good insights.. So does Andre Ward..
Did you hear Ward during the Golivkin-Macklin and Froch-Kessler fights??? What did you think? Ward not only saw what the boxers were doing—he saw how their mental processes were operating—how Macklin and Kessler were breaking down mentally … and gave the viewer those insights as well.
It’s a pleasure to hear that kind of commentary — rather than Kellerman or Lampley telling us what they imagine they see, but isn’t really happening. They’re 10 steps behind.Posted November 2, 2013 12:27 pm

How many people actually talk the technical aspects of boxing on here anyway.
People wnat boxing talk on this fight here it is – Maidana is a brutally willfull and physically powerful guys but he is a poor boxer. He`s made his name off of making mentally or physically weak fighter like Khan and ORtiz look bad, yet those two still dropped him, and Khan lasted out the fight or the win.
The punch that Khan put him down with and which Ortiz gave him some trouble with was the left hook – the body in Khans case.
Broner will hurt Maidana enought that Maidana won`t overrun him, but Broner is lazy enough that he won`t chase Maidana down to KO him. It will therefore end up another case of clean punching (Broner) vs pressure and volume (Maidana) in a 12 round UD for Broner with half the board crying robbery.Posted November 2, 2013 3:28 am

Brushing aside the porn action which I’ve not seen, Broner’s huge weight gain shows he’s already sleeping in silk PJs as Bhop would say. I saw pics during the Floyd-Canelo weekend a month ago and he had a straight up beer gut. He posted video of him and his crew of drunken losers driving around town obv inebriated. So we can expect a crash and burn eventually. Probably not against Maidana who is too slow, but the way he’s living it’s just a matter of time before he goes over a cliff.Posted November 1, 2013 7:05 pm
“What makes this bout so intriguing is Maidana’s resiliency and tenacity. Not only is this guy physcially tough, but he’s mentally durable as well.”
Not only that Joseph. Maidana has become technically more proficient under Garcia’s tutelage. The improvements in his boxing are noticeable. And, as Maidana said himself, Garcia has helped him with his composure. Maidana is a fighter through and through. It’s hard for him to resist the urge to bang it out.
Broner was looking pudgy when he appeared with a Mayweather entourage before Mayweather had his fight with Alvarez. For a kid his age, you’d think he’d work hard to stay in shape all the time. But he’s too caught up in enjoying the limelight and his pre-emergent celebrity status. He better stay focused or Maidana will light him up.Posted November 1, 2013 7:01 pm

In this situation, like a lot of other articles and interviews that I publish, I’m merely reporting for the benefit of the readers to make their own judgments.
I use the radio show to express my opinions…not my articles.
Too often, writers on the net will have a fixed agenda before they ever type one word…that’s not true journalism. I report and let the readers decide for themselves unless it’s an editorial…in which I will clearly define it as such.
But frequently, you will see a writer tackle a controversial issue with a predetermined idea in mind, covering the story from a slanted point of view.
I don’t do that.Posted November 1, 2013 5:38 pm

Why apologize. Nobody cares what this CLOWN does. Little Floyd will soon be forced to spank him.Posted November 1, 2013 5:29 pm
Broner is Broner. He doesn’t want to be anyone else. Like Duran said, “NO MAS” … That was kind of like saying “Kiss my ass fans.”
That’s the way Broner is too. He’s not like Floyd. He doesn’t give a damn.Posted November 1, 2013 5:26 pm

When you think of the sportsmanship of Quarry, Patterson, Moore and other old school types and the juxtapose it against this swine. you really can sense just how disgusting he is. At least Del Boy is a tad funny.
This guys is a disgrace and articles like this feed into his need for attention. He is a low life, brainless, immature, ingrate who doesn’t even realize what an a-hole he is making of himself.
You watch Alvarado and Prov fight and they lave it all in the ring. They are real, MEN. Same with Bradley-Prov. But this? Ugh.Posted November 1, 2013 5:09 pm
Adrien Broner wins this fight hands down. This kid is mess with the dumb things he does in his personal life, but make no mistake about it, he takes this fight serious. He will land on Maidana all night, and Maidana has no defense. Broner knows this is his biggest opportunity, and he’s not going to let this one slip by him. Broner will be on his “A” game and land the jab, right uppercuts and befuddle Maidana all night. Maidana is tough, but he just doesn’t have agilty or athleticism to beat Broner. I think people will be surprised at Broner’s power in this fight. Maidana will be a sitting target. This will be Broner’s best performances so far. After 2-3 rounds, Broner will look like the new king of boxing.Posted November 1, 2013 5:05 pm

“Broner is fat . Everything does not equal hate. All you low information people think disagreements and opinions are hate.” – Deepwater is correct. The Haterade thing is amusing. Fans of douchebags trick themselves into believing everyone who criticizes their heroes are “haters.” They do this because they can’t admit that by extension of their fanboy beliefs, they too are Dbags. Those who criticize are simply stating opinions about people whose behavior earn the criticism.Posted November 1, 2013 4:26 pm
broner is fat and nappy. no way he will be at top form come fight time. put the $ on maidanaPosted November 1, 2013 4:17 pm
Hey there, Bustajay!!
This is a tough one to call. Only because of the questions surrounding Adrien Broner’s discipline and commitment to the sport at this level.
If Broner comes into the ring in optimum fight shape, mentally and physically, he picks Maidana apart…similar to his performance against Antonio DeMarco.
But if he’s not 100%, he could get knocked out in the mid to late rounds of this one.
Maidana is no one to toy with…he’s serious, brother. You’ll see in my interview coming up with the bad-ass Argentine that he’s already in shape and he’s convinced that he’s going to test Adrien like no other fighter has previously.
What makes this bout so intriguing is Maidana’s resiliency and tenacity. Not only is this guy physcially tough, but he’s mentally durable as well.
It should be a great fight on the 14th!!Posted November 1, 2013 3:31 pm
“So December 14th, this is going to get ugly. I’m talking Tyrone Hill, Sam Cassell ugly.” WTF lol hahaPosted November 1, 2013 3:29 pm
Calling someone a loser sure is hateful.Posted November 1, 2013 3:26 pm
Broner is fat . Everything does not equal hate. All you low information people think disagreements and opinions are hate. Try and think. Try and think you can do it.Posted November 1, 2013 3:23 pm
Broner has achieved more than you hateful losers. You guys should take a look in the mirror. After all no one is perfect.Posted November 1, 2013 3:20 pm
Joseph, what do you think about Broner VS the little Maddog MAIDANA?Posted November 1, 2013 3:11 pm
Matthysse wasn’t done vs Judah. GTFOOH
Judah was done.. Zab had a friendly referee who keep breaking non-clinches for the last 3 rounds.. Judah was knocked down, he was badly hurt, he was running and grabbing, he barely survived. Lucas won that fight by 5 points easy.
Danny is the only guy who beat Matthysse, and he didn’t dominate him.Posted November 1, 2013 2:48 pm
Hidalgo: “Joe Herron! There you are! I was worried about you, man! No show on Tuesday night; hadn’t heard from you for a couple of days. Good to see you back!
What happened to your show on Tuesday?”
A family emergency came up just a couple of hours before the show and we were forced to cancel…in the two and half years that James and I have been doing this, we’ve never had to cancel a Tuesday night episode.
i can’t really go into anything specific, but unfortunately it couldn’t be helped.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you or any one else who listens to the show.Posted November 1, 2013 2:47 pm
All this talk about what matthysee would do…did anybody see the garcia fight? Lucas was picked apart. lucas depends strictly on power. When his “get rid of the fighter between rounds one and four” doesnt work, then hes done. Happened against judah and garcia. Lucas is all hype. Good fighter, but will never be elite.Posted November 1, 2013 1:52 pm

Yeah Broner looks on his way to becoming a never-was-a-has-been fat turd loser. He’s already a loser. His downfall is imminent.Posted November 1, 2013 1:07 pm
broner fat and out of shape. if he stands against this guy like he stood against paulie then he will get clipped. too fat. too stupid.too many out of wedlock kids.Posted November 1, 2013 12:46 pm
As much as I would love to see Broner get flattened I believe he will be too fast and slick for Maidana.Broner will get his shots in quicker. He will be beating Maidana to. The punch.Posted November 1, 2013 12:39 pm
This Fake ass MAYWEATHER want to be is a JOKE, who has been given a few GIFT decisions already! I hope that Maidana takes his top off! Broner is a fat, egotistical, mediocre fighter who is riding Mayweather’s balls! He is one of the reasons that boxing is losing it’s popularity!Posted November 1, 2013 11:57 am
Golden boy promotions sucks
BRO-ner PLEASE go for the knock out against Maidana.Posted November 1, 2013 11:48 am
Maidana has a fighters chance at putting big brush on the floor at least once in this fight…..GO MAIDANA
Dr. Phil Thieze-Knutz
He better be apologizing because his Klingon forehead made it into the frame of this tape [that you know he leaked] instead of focusing on the talent. Malinaggi spoke on some video of this moron on stage at a strip club eat some fish taco. Broner needs to quit drinking his own Kool Aide. The guy has 3 gift decisions already. Big Al can’t buy out all the refs.Posted November 1, 2013 11:35 am
THE REAL AMERICAN OAK
Trash. No discipline. No dedication. And a little fat a s s. Better go run more than his mouth.Posted November 1, 2013 11:20 am

Even the Americans can’t stand Boner! LOL
All the signs are that he will get knocked out and Maidana is just the man to do it, he maybe slow footed, but he has real power in both fists and Boner isn’t the fastest cat on his feet. I reckon Boner is gonna get KO’d by Maidana. No problem!Posted November 1, 2013 10:58 am
This fatass thinks he is Floyd but his only similarity with Jr. is his bad imitation of the shoulder roll. Floyd is in a total different universe than this fat midget.Posted November 1, 2013 10:53 am
The sex tape leaked. Let’s all pray the contents of his condom didn’t leak. None of us want another baby Broner running round in a few years. He’s a total disgrace to the human race.Posted November 1, 2013 10:19 am
Broner has a problem. Within the next three years, he’ll probably be a little fat dude fighting in a weight class he doesn’t belong in, if he’s fighting at all.Posted November 1, 2013 9:58 am
How can one be so blessed with skills and just decide to take a dump on the gates of heaven?
I have always supported Maidana, those of you who know me know this as a fact, and I am confide he has improved under Garcia. The question is has he improved enough to not slug it out and to box more with this young lion?
Broner has his hands full and Maidana is not out picking up hookers as he is training because this fight is DO OR DIE FOR MAIDANA.Posted November 1, 2013 9:43 am

Broner is an idiot. He was before the sex tape leaked… and is after it leaked. I’m only interested in seeing him get beat by Maidana. Preferably by KO.Posted November 1, 2013 8:30 am

If his partner in sextape is Jessica Corazon, Paulie Malignaggi ex-girlfriend, I might be interested to watch it.Posted November 1, 2013 7:43 am
Broner is fat and nappy. His six bastard kids and baby mom mas are gonna squeeze him dry , and his ghetto lifestyle will shorten whatever success he has.Posted November 1, 2013 7:19 am
Broner looks like he is carrying some weight in those sloppy chops of his. This guy was exposed by Malignaggi and is on course for a KO defeat.Posted November 1, 2013 7:18 am

The 2 guys he was having sex with, what were their names?Posted November 1, 2013 6:31 am
We’ve found 2 people more stupid than Broner. Who would want to get in bed with this jerk? It was probably Adrien with two combs. One for his b*tt and the other, his swollen head. Guy is proper ugly, inside and out. Pity he is fighting the lesser of the two Argentinians. Matthysse would walk him down and hammer his mid section as well as loop shots over his p*ss-poor right hand guard. Would like to see Broner match up with another deluded tw*t in Amir Khan. Would pay to see those two goofs taking each other out.Posted November 1, 2013 4:50 am
