Martinez is taking on Cotto next instead of mandatory challenger GGG it doesn’t make sense.

Stevenson is a MFing LHW!!! … He needs to fight Kovalev and get smashed into the canvas…

GGG should get the opportunity to do the same to Martinez… Instead of taking out the best guys who will get into a ring with him.

Take a look @ all who those 15 KO’s were and you get the picture. This talk abouthis GGG makes no sense at all, let him fight Adonis Stevenson and let’s how good he really is.

Mayweather vs Golovkin breaks all PPV and worldwide revenue numbers…and not by a little bit… Mark my words.

It’s seeing Floyd against a lights out puncher, and attacker this active, tough, and dangerous… That will interest everybody out there who ever wanted to watch a fight.. Europe will awaken.. North America is already aware a major boxing event could be going down with Floyd-GGG

if GGG takes down Martinez, then it would make sense for Mayweather to give him a fight and make it PPV bananza… GGG is not a Mexican hero, as Canelo and there is no Cinco de Mayo for GGG’s fans. Basically – there is no money in the fight for now. Plus, Golovkin can actually win the fight with Mayweather…

He should get a chance to prove it.. Destroying the guys who gave Martinez Hell is a waste of time.. Everyone knows GGG kills these guys.

Let’s mandate the best fight the best … in every division. The fans win.

Tark…so what none of those you mention what to fight GGG…so frigging what. GGG arrived on the scene the other say and you expect for the current champions who’ve been at it longer in the US to just give him some kind of red carpet treatment. He needs to take a number or move his azz up to 168 but aint no one going to give him anything…….

If 2.2 PPV were sold to see an OVERWEIGHT 172 POUNDS FLATFOOTED STAMINA PLAGUE YOUNGSTER who FORGOT he was Mexican on a Mexican Holiday than 3.5 Million will see the 159 GGG who doesn’t have STAMINA PROBLEM and NOT FLATFOOTED and has MEGA PUNCHING POWER even with the GIRLY grant gloves.

But Canelo lost and looked bad against Floyd, Floyd on the other hand looked good and is undefeated like GGG so it only make sense and a lot of PPV Money that GGG vs Floyd for Floyds 154 WBC belt, besides GGG only weights 159….Canelo ask for the 152 catchweight and not Floyd, Floyd team said they were willing to fight Canelo at 154 for the 154 WBC belt REMEMBER its on TV and on all the Sports media starting with the Showtime special, so now GGG is willing to come down from 159 to 154 for Floyds 154 WBC belt its plain and simple and makes a lot of sense and PPV MONEY….GGG The African-American ASSASSIN.

From what I seen on Saturday GGG gets beat by Martinez. I mean the guy Stevens was about 5’6 or 5’7, Waaaaaay smaller than GGG. You guys are so funnuy on this site. I mean it wouldnt even be a contest if he fought Ward. Martinez would Stop or out box him. GGG stalker, stand up straight European style, would loose to a pretty good alethletic slick boxer with some pop. I mean Stevens was sooo much smaller than this guy, and yall want to act like GGG did something CMON im not buying this. Be reall with yourself, he beat a good decent waaaay smaller guy, well he should have.

when your boxer comes to the corner and complains he can not close his mouth among others things, it should be stopped. The doctors did visit the corner. Jackson was not looking out for his boxer like Mcgirt would, and Jackson should be fired.

Magomed Abdusalamov had brain surgery and part of his skull removed today due to a blood clot as a result of last night’s loss to Perez. Tragic. I hope he recovers fully. John David Jackson should’ve pulled the plug. His power punching hand was broken in round 1 or 2 so he had slim chance at a KO anyhow. It’s a rough and brutal sport. Unfortunately the guys with the biggest balls are the ones who suffer.

Lame article. “Can he deal with Martinez’s blinding speed, can he take alot of them?” I’ve said for years now, that Martinez is one of the most overrated middleweight champs in years. He built his record until what 2009 fighting cooks, homeless people, welfare cheats, drug dealers..people with losing freaking records!!!! Then he fights Cintron, who’s punch power is also way overrated, probably should have got the KO victory, doesn’t but people made that out to be some “quality win”? WTF? Cintron had been stopped by Margarito twice already, after the Martinez fight, he was stopped more times. He sucks. Beats a drunk, depressed Kelly Pavlik who only has a right hand. He was owned, mentally and spiritually by The Executioner. Yet, Pavlik was still able to drop Sergio and the fight was even until he was cut. Then goes onto the ham and egger Euro Pastry tour for 2 freaking years!!! 2 years!!!! Dzirisuk, whatever, 154 lber moving up who had injuries, then Bunker, where he suffered a flash knockdown, Mackin and another Flash knockdown, that disgrace Chavez Jr. and literally almost getting KO’ed in the last freaking roundand should have lost to Murray and dropped twice. The question is Can Martinez take GGG’s repeated punches and shots? The answer is No, he can’t. He doesn’t have a good/great chin, just average, maybe even below. That won’t cut it, not even close. He Never unfiied, never try to fight the other belt-holders, just he and Dibella running a con gig. Everytime I see this guy somehow still on a PFP list, I seriously shake my head. GGG has it all, but these cowards including Martinez are terrified of 2 fisted One Punch KO Artists who can box like GGG that’s why they’ve been carefully “matched”. Keep fearing Triple G cowards, but the real fans don’t give you the benefit of the doubt and see the fraud you bums (Quillen, Martinez) are trying to pull.

I agree. GGG beats Froch. Even by stoppage. It ain’t even certain Froch beats Groves. It could be much closer than people expect. I expect Froch to win but Groves is pretty good and has power. Groves’ only real weakness to me is his chin, he’s a bit chinny, not as bad as Khan of course, but Froch has the power to stop him and I think he will in the later rounds, but Froch has to be careful, Groves is no mug. He’s fast, good footwork, and boxes well, and has a good stoppage record.

Ain’t that the truth, PEEJ.

Felt so sorry for Murray he beat Martinez, even put Martinez on his ass, and won fairly convincingly to me. Murray is damn good, but he’s not the type to shout his mouth off, so he kinda gets overlooked a bit, but genuine fight fans here no Murray is a serious contender at 160 and he could be pretty damn good at 168. He’s strong, has good skills, but not spectacular, he’s the kind of fighter champions can underestimate. know what I mean? Murray is like the quiet man at 160.

Posted November 3, 2013 4:19 pm

PEEJ

Martinez is overrated and GGG in my opinion does beat him easily.

Posted November 3, 2013 4:16 pm

Hopkins coming down to 160 to try for a Floyd fight is all about money. He won’t make that sort of money against GGG so there is no reason for that. But I believe they call Hopkins out at 168 and Hopkins said ok and then they backed off of that challenge saying he is going to be at 160 for a while and no need to move anywhere.

Posted November 3, 2013 4:15 pm

Taylor dropped Froch and had him wobbling. Taylor was making a fool of him before gassing. Triple G is a very technical fighter with that power. Froch’s defense is his face. GGG is a better technician and puncher than Froch. Bring it but not in his hometown …we have seen that movie before.

Steven did buckle GG’s leg, at least one time during the fight. However, GG show some patient and was careful not to get hit unnecessarily. He has power, no doubt and can take a punch as well. However, just because he beat Stevens, which he was supposed to do, doesn’t translate in an easy win against Martinez.

Against Steven, GG had the height and reach advantage, which he used successfully; Martinez, on the other hand, matches perfectly against GG and his boxing skills are superior to Stevens. Martinez has fast-stingy hands and knows how to control the distance. Also, GG demonstrated last night that he can get hit and Martinez will find the target for sure.

The bigger advantage of GG over Sergio is Sergio’s inactivity. He’s been away for quite some time and, especially at his age that could be a big issue. Forget about Canelo challenging GG…after his beating in the hands of Floyd, his confidence must be at a big time low. He’ll get KO for sure. Cotto is too short and GG will take him apart from the outside.

However, since Hopkins is willing to come down to 160 and fight little Floyd, he should grow some balls and challenge GG instead…well, we know what the answer to that question is!!!

There is nothing to clean up in the middleweight division. Martinez is the Lineal Middleweight fighter. You can’t keep all the belts because they will strip you. They where all together when Hopkins unified them and then they got stripped one by one. So who cares about those belts. Taylor beat Hopkins then lost to Pavlik who lost to Martinez. Nothing to clean up, if you want to be the champ you have to beat Martinez. Unfortunately if you fight him in Argentina you have to knock him out.

Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin (28-0-0 KO’s 25) have now defended his world middleweight title 9 times ALL by knockout and that is a nice achivement. WBA/IBO middleweight world titles BUT he truly deserves to fight the other middleweight title holders so we can clean up the middleweight division. so Golovkin is the WBA/IBO champion, Sergio Martinez is the WBC/Lineal champion, Darren Barker is the IBF champ and Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin is the WBO champion so we have at least 3 quality title holders BUT we only need 1 unified world champion. The Middleweight division have not had a unifed and undisputed world middleweight champion sence 2005 with Bernard Hopkins/Jermain taylor reign of all title belts.

Fair Fights

Hecdog I agree with you GGG is a special talent, but Murray would be a tough nut to crack. I’d like to see that fight. I expect GGG to win, but Murray would put up a very tough test. Barker is technically very good, I like the guy, he’s a good fighter, but I think Murray is mentally harder and a very good ‘still improving’ boxer himself. Of all the middleweights out there, I think Murray would be the toughest test for GGG. Murray is still getting better, Martinez has peaked and if anything he’s on the slide, Quillin looked terrible in his last fight against Rosado, he’s overrated, Darren Barker, is good but sadly I can’t see him beating Sturm if the real Sturm turns up, especially in Germany if it goes to points as Macklin found out! He was robbed. Geale can’t beat GGG. I think Murray is GGG’s biggest danger at 160. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

You make some good points that I agree with, but Froch is too mechanical and I don’t think he has the defensive skills to beat GGG. In fact I think GGG would stop him. But that remains to be seen and could be quite some way in the future (maybe 18 months) and by that time we don’t know what will happen with Froch. He could lose to Groves. I doubt it, Groves is a bit chinny, but he’s a good boxer with plenty of power. I still take Froch to win in the later rounds, but Groves can’t be underestimated. GGG is a masterful boxer, he didn’t look in any trouble all night against Stevens. It’s gonna take some boxer to beat him. Ward maybe, at 168, but again that fight might not happen for quite some time. Credit to GGG, he keeps winning inside the distance in good style.

Martinez gets KOd by GGG. Somewhere around the 9th or 10th round.

Even an age- and health-compromised Martinez will give GGG his best test yet. A rejuvenated, healthy Martinez would definitely make GGG work every round like he has never been forced to before. My bet would be on Martinez to slide in a decision win. Going for the TKO or KO with GGG would be a total mistake. Even a boxer with Mayweather’s boxing genius skills would not use that strategy as their “A” game plan.

Posted November 3, 2013 1:49 pm

boxing barlow

Dont get me wrong I think GGG looks a monster at middle and is the best at the division at the moment. But I think he should stay there and make a long reign and build a legacy being a champ taking on all fighters who dare to come to his weight class. Im talking about the tv stations intentions to take him up to to super middle to take on the cream of that divison. For me theres no need. GGG is a natural middleweight and thats where his strengths are most potent. Froch would either knock him out or jusy out hussle him with his size and strength.

Golovkin will probably be fighting Murray next in the UK, that’s a difficult fight for Golovkin, if he wins that then he is definitely unbeatable.

I think what people are trying to day is that ggg has looked indestructible to this point. Last night while he gave a beat down to Stevens, he got hit a fair bit too. The guy also got up and lasted to the 8th round. Whilst he was taking a bit of punishment he was not knocked out and I wouldn’t have put money on Stevens having the skills to take the fight to a decision. So not a bad night against someone who we expected to blow him away in 5 rounds.GGG looked more human last night. Id be more confident thay Frochwould beat GGG after last night than after the Macklin fight.

He is beating everybody they put in front of him and he seems to be doing it with some ease. So there is gonna be a lot of hype surrounding him. He seems to be the real deal though at least from what I can see. Nobody at 160 is going to beat him. Stevens has a good punch and GGG took it rather well. So until someone gets him in trouble, he will be the man at 160.

Yep, round 8 Stevens took a terrible beating. Stevens was brave, but round 8 was vicious. If I was in his corner I would of pulled him out as well. Stevens was totally outclassed.

GGG is a great fighter. No one beats him at 160. Although Murray would put a up a good fight, he’s hard as nails and got robbed against Martinez. At 168 we will see. I think he should take all the belts at 160 and then move up to 168 in about 18 months.

Furious Tyson

I’m reading quite a few comments saying Stevens put up a good fight or that he was half decent. Who are you people, the fight was an 8 round beat down. It was a mis-match.

Stevens was totally outclassed to the point where it looked like a sparring session for Golovkin. The fight was so one sided it was actually a little boring to watch.

Sorry but Im not quite buying into the ggg phenomenon yet. Stevens looked half decent tonight against a fighter who is supposed to be unstoppable. This is against a guy who lost to Jesse Brinkley! There’s talk about ggg coming up to super middle and fighting Froch but on tonights performance my money would be on froch all day long. I cant see his power travelling up to super middle in the same way and at 5’8 against a 6’1 Froch he will be giving away a huge size difference. Froch can take a huge punch and can give out as good as he gets. Will a 5’8 ggg be able to trade with Froch?

THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU GGG RING INTELLIGENCE. THE ONLY WAY FOR GGG TO GAIN PROPS IS TO MOVE UP TO 168, SERGIO IS TOO OLD AND IS A SHELL OF HIMSELF, QUILLIN HAS NO STAMINA, AND CHAVEZ JR. Stevens had no jab. It is as if he never heard of it before. GGG was able to have his way with Stevens because his rythm was never thrown off.

I would like to see GGG fight somebody more skilled than Stevens. It is time the other Middleweights fight him. Personally I wanna see a Barker fight.

GGG did exactly what he was suppose to do. Stevens was more of a hype job than anything else. He had his opportunity, tried, but he was never in the same league. GGG is a special fighter though. He thinks and breaks you down. Quillin, Martinez and Mayweather would not beat him. Quillin would have the best chance.

Golovkin knocked down Stevens and systematically beat him down, beat him up, beat him anyway he wanted. GGG was unmarked after the bout. He did a good job.

Prof Konje

Stevens showed a lot of heart during the fight but unfortunately he just didn’t have the necessary skills to finish the job. Was he unable to do what his corner asked about staying off the ropes? Maybe he should have come forward and pushed GGG back rather than give him room to punch. He did show that GGG can be hit and does have some holes in his defense. I want to see what GGG could do against a good, slick boxer with a solid punch. No doubt that he has a punch but I would like to see better competition.

Posted November 3, 2013 12:03 pm

Ned

There’s no ring rust when Golovkin fights. He looked very sharp against Stevens; almost all his punches landed where they should have. He was also able to take some solid shots from Stevens. The reason for this is Triple G is constantly fighting. He’s had 4 fights in 2013, and opponents like Rosado, Macklin, and Stevens aren’t tomato cans. In addition, Gennady’s now scheduled to fight again in February. He’s a fighting champion, which is just what the sport needs.

Posted November 3, 2013 12:00 pm

GGG couldn’t miss with that jab. Not sure if it had something to do with Stevens being shorter but that jab was on point. Also Stevens looked good when he was coming forward. Unfortunately he couldnt keep that up. I also thought the first round could of gone either way and the 4 and 5th rounds could of also. Or it may have been the 5th and 6th rounds but I thought 3 of the rounds where very close and could of gone either way. GGG looked good though.
