PEEJ…”Yes when he was forcing GGG back he was landing his punches.”

Everytime he came in he didn’t land..He took some monster blows so he had to wait for good opportunities to follow up.. If he wasn’t getting hit so hard he would have been much more aggressive.. Stevens has been a professional boxer for a long time … and you haven’t.

Pavlik likewise, wasn’t so aggressive when he was getting hit.. If you start gettng tagged you back off and take your time.. A guy who is scoring and not getting hit is going to throw a lot more, which GGG was doing.

Who cares about Floyd’s 154lb title. Flood has the Championship belt. That’s the belt GGG should want. But unfortunately nobody even knows if he can make 154. All this just give me more time talk basically means it would be tough and could possibly be affected by the weight loss

PEEJ

Yes when he was forcing GGG back he was landing his punches. Watch the fight again. I don’t care if he hasn’t or has been down. I could care less about his amateur career. This is the pros. And it would of been a damn good fight between him and Pavlik. He wasn’t countering Stevens at all. Like you stated Stevens wasn’t throwing punches. J already acknowledged that. But the fact remains the few times he pushed forward and threw he landed most his shots. Pavlik actually rolled with the punches when he was in his prime. Him and GGG would of been a great fight

TARK

PEEJ.., “Stevens was landing every punch.”

The HELL he was…

Stevens missed 2 punches for every one he landed and he was being extremely selective. Golovkin is a very good boxer and counterpuncher. Stevens would have been KO’d much sooner if he was more aggressive and punched more. GGG would have been presented with many more openings… It’s a lot different when you’re in that ring PEEJ.

Kelly Pavlik was a very poor defender… Golovkin would have him out quickly. Just because Pavlik could punch extremely hittable and unskilled guys like Miranda and Taylor, doesn’t mean he could connect with a great boxer like Golovkin.. GGG has never been down and he has never been hurt.. Find somebody else who’s had 350 amateur fights you can say that about.

GGG vs Floyd for Floyds 154 WBC belt Showtime please make it happen.

Posted November 6, 2013 11:25 pm

PEEJ

Yes I know that but when Stevens came forward he had GGG backing up and Stecens was landing every punch. Imagin if Pavlik was in his prime fighting GGG. He could keep the pressure on and has power. Now that would of been a fight and Pavlik may have been favored. If there was a fighter at 160 who could keep the pressure on the whole fight and had a good chin GGG may have been in trouble

Posted November 6, 2013 9:46 pm

TARK

PEEJ…, “When Stevens actually came forward with pressure he had GGG going backwards.”

That’s a joke… The ring has a lot of square footage. Your opponent isn’t the only guy allowed to use it. When he lands and tries to follow up, you retreat so you can make him miss and maybe catch him coming in.

Golovkin was the aggressor for over 80% of the fight.. That’s extremely unusual when you’re fight a shorter bomber with a tremendous left hook.. Usually those guys get on your case and stay there.. Golovkin reversed that … and he was on Stevens’ case.

Why is Canelo still hiding from GGG? Where has he gone? LOL

Posted November 6, 2013 3:22 pm

PEEJ

Oh I am not saying there is one. I am just saying that is what happened. I don’t think anybody beats GGG at 160. He will run the division. I was just saying he was not countering Stevens. He won because Stevens I am guessing felt the power and pretty much was on the defensive and just seemed to try and catch GGG with one punch. That obviously will not work.

Hildalgo right on. I’m hoping to eventually see Golovkin v Murray. Did Murray get his visa issues resolved yet by any chance? I believe Murray can and will give him a good go. Solid jab, good footwork and as u said constant pressure

GGG knocked down Stevens hard and busted him up real bad. Triple G da man at 160 right now.

“When Stevens actually came forward with pressure he had GGG going backwards.”

All boxing matches have ebbs and flows, Peej. GGG “backed up” made adjustments, then handily won the fight.

Name me just one of the top middleweight boxers that would keep GGG backing up all night? The only middleweights that GGG would conceivably have a real problem with are Martinez and Murray, and of those two, Murray would be the guy applying constant pressure. Gennady would beat everyone else on that top 10 roster–likely by TKO– including Sturm, Geale, Barker, Quillin, Macklin, Bursak, and Rubio.

GGG is not ineffective when he is going backwards. It’s just not the best direction that he fights in.

Posted November 6, 2013 1:11 pm

PEEJ

GGG wasn’t really countering. When Stevens actually came forward with pressure he had GGG going backwards. But as soon as he stopped punching GGG started walking him back down. Unfortunately he didn’t keep that pressure up. Maybe it was GGG body shots or the fact that he was more worried about defense after getting knocked down in the 2nd. But either way he was stopped.

Dude, seriously? You come out with this on Tuesday night? You can go back an entire page on ESB and the stories are dissections of that fight, you know, because it was 3 DAYS AGO!!! Write about something relevant or don’t write at all.

I don’t know what fight Chip Mitchell was watching but Stevens didn’t do carp..

He wouldn’t punch because GGG’s counters were killing him.. He landed some blows but was out scored 3 to 1 and never landed anything threatening… He objectively lost every round and retreated for most of the fight against a much taller opponent… He covered up and let GGG throw 800 punches at his arms and shoulders trying to make 38% of them land — which is a Hell of a percentage if you’re throwing that many.

Kurt wasn’t doing anything, or fighting back, so his corner called a halt.

Cheezb – You miss the entire point of my response. I was responding to the personal insults which I constantly receive but it’s water off a ducks back. When it started referring me to being someone else, then I need to advise these people that I am not, for their sake and the other mentioned poster. If you are all suckered by GGG, then more fool you when he gets exposed after I have been giving the good juice since he started getting rave reviews for doing zero. I didn’t ignore Bruce Lee post as it hadn’t appeared on the comments section while I was responding to the other dullards, yet I wouldn’t need to as he stated his points and not once found a reason to add insult. You’ve misinterpreted that 1st para. I meant that there have been articles written on GGG for longer than “a few months back” therefore I am not a antagonistic blow in. Yes I should of had a comma after “articles”. But that’s OK, next time I’ll draw pictures for you.

Nice job Cheezb, I forgot to mention Sturm vs Macklin. I thought Macklin should have win that fight which would have made him champ.

@Woop Woop – “I don’t usually respond after I make my factual critiques of GGG however I should put a few things straight. I only comment on GGG articles which have been published for longer than a few months, so mayweather 86 you are wrong like most of your boxing (loosely termed) insight.”

Hahahahaha, are you serious???
Unless you’re a different Woop Woop to the usual one, then no, you’re generally one of the first to comment on any GGG article, so “published for longer than a few months” is a blatant lie.

And no, you don’t post factual critiques and “not respond”. You make a bunch of (mostly) baseless statements and then run away rather than address peoples’ rebuttals of your points (i.e. as shown by how you respond to “mayweather86″ below but ignore “Bruce Lee’s writing hand”).
It’s what you do on just about every Golovkin thread, and it’s why people here have learnt to generally not respond to you; it’s pointless debating with someone that just covers his ears and screams.

Here’s your usual list of statements and why they’re baseless:
1. GGG fights only welters and JMWs : ignores that he just fought a career SMW and a career MW prior to that. Fought a JMW in Rosado who recently made Quillin (who you claim GGG is ducking) look pretty damn fragile. Not even sure who you’re claiming is a welter??? There are only 3 JMWs on his whole record (Rosado, Ishida and Ouma)
2. Macklin was coming off an injury : No, he’d had surgery to improve his breathing. It’s “enhancement” surgery, not an injury.
3. GGG was given his belt : true, but ignores that he was given the belt because Sturm and then Geale both chose to avoid him even though he was mandatory for 2 years running. You can’t blame him for other fighters’ avoidance of him; even if they had an excuse for avoiding him (i.e. bigger money elsewhere), it’s still not Golovkin’s fault.
4. GGG ducks real challengers : See “Bruce Lee’s writing hand”‘s post, my previous points about Sturm/Geale and the many other times you’ve been proven wrong on this point. There is little to no evidence to prove your statement, and vastly more to prove the opposite. The smart money in any situation is to follow where a majority of the evidence is pointing, and at this time, it all points to Golovkin being avoided.

Woop Woop, I have to say I agree with your analysis on FMJ. Either to green or to old, if you look at the showtime Prefight Documentary Ellerbe and FMJ, when talking of the wait issue pretty much state they look for the advantage, also that they choose their fights. I am a Floyd fan because of his defensive style, and yes it can be boring at times. I believe is when he puts two rounds in the bank, against the fighters he has it mentally breaks them down. Very few engage him after that or have the fortitude to keep fighting intelligently. Those who have truly engaged him have hurt him, but it is a credit to him that he finds that second gear. Remember Demarcus Corely, who had little power had FMJ rocking all over the place.
As for Oscar, which I will never forgive him for this as he was winning of the jab, decided to stop throwing it. If you watch the fight, Bernard Hopkins was out of his seat yelling for Oscar to throw the jab, heck I was yelling at the screen for him to throw the Jab. At the end Oscar stated in the interview, if my memory serves me right, he said ” I Knew I was hurting him with the Jab, so I stopped throwing it”. After that fight Oscar began to promote FMJ against all the fighters in his stable. I would have appreciated seeing Winky fight Floyd, why because it would have forced Floyd to engage.

I don’t usually respond after I make my factual critiques of GGG however I should put a few things straight. I only comment on GGG articles which have been published for longer than a few months, so mayweather 86 you are wrong like most of your boxing (loosely termed) insight. Bears I am not Black or a gargler and I am definitely not that racist SRedmond. What I make of FMJ is that he has very good defensive skills and can be a little boring to watch unless the other fighter engages him. I believe he wants no part of Pacman, now, before or ever. I don’t agree with catchweights ever and especially for World Titles. I believe FMJ has intellectually picked most, not all, his opponents when they have been past their prime or too green to know better. I even think FMJ lost to Castillo and De la Hoya. Your apology is accepted. Finally Real American Oak, I find it highly hypocritical that a resident from the most obese and PED abusing nation in the world would call myself fat with no athletic ability.

Bruce Lee’s writing hand

Just a word, and in response to Woop Woop. I like how you stated triple G’s calculated steps are illusions. Let’s take a step back, and look at the facts, which you can verify. Before triple G fought Macklin, Lou DaBella stated G was asking for a fight with Martinez, And he refused him the fight as he thought G was a nobody who fought no one. The question was then asked if he would have martinez fight him if he defeated Macklin, as he promotes both Martinez and Macklin. He answered we will see, well he defeated Macklin, and Lou still refused to have him fight Martinez, he said so him self. As for Quillin, which he asked Dela Hoya after the Ishida fight, well Dela Hoya put up a wall stating he would like to see G against Stevens, before he would allow Quillin to fight. Well that has just been done and you don’t see them a knocking. Regarding Canelo, and Chavez Jr, well he schooled them both in sparring, which you can watch ala you tube. Chavez couldn’t even handle him in sparring. We can take it back a lot further, as his amateur career came to an end he knocked out Lucian Bute, and defeated Andre Dirrell in the Olympics. Fans have been watching this kid for a long time and so has the competition. Let me ask, what do you do when you can’t get them in the ring? Well you fight who you can, the bills have to get paid right!

The íllusion’ that is GGG retains WBA strap over an unranked little guy. He calls out Martinez, knowing he is injured and will need a tune up before whipping GGG so it makes him look like he is ducking. These are the same old games that GGG always plays. It’s all calculated bluffs and false call outs. Of course he wants to fight FMJ, he is in his wheelhouse of continual fights against Welters and Jnr Middles. Maybe he will get a fight against Murray, just like he waited for Macklin after the real champ has beat them both. Yet not a murmur of fighting any legitimate contender, not a whimper of fighting at 168lb, not a single response to the Froch challenge. Anyway you guys keep spending your money on this fraudulent hype job while he grins at the suckers being taken for a ride on the hype train. Choooooooooo Choooooooooooo!!!
