Fight Aficionado

“I just talked to his trainer and was told he is in the best shape of his life.” – Just like every person who ever fought in a boxing match.

Fight Aficionado

There’s three stories on this bogus main event that’s a setup for Donaire to not get schooled but none on the undercard. Vanes Martirosyan vs Demetrius Andrade is an evenly matched fight with two guys who are primed up, young and hungry. That fight can go either way and it should be the main event. It should have coverage, not this nonsense.

Natchos for dinner – look at Rigos record prior to the Donaire fight. Who had he fought? He backed out of as many fights as he took. The talent was evident from the ameture days, but there seemed to be no drive or urgency on his part. The middle rounds of the Donaire ifght were illustrative of how he had been winning fights, doing just enough to score the points win. PS Nachos do make an excellent dinner.

Webster: “Prior to the Donaire fight, Rigondeaux was labled an under achiever… ”

By who, exactly?

ha

Have to agree with @Peej. Donaire is a scrub who’s had his five minutes of fame.

What a stupid fight for Donaire. I don’t understand how it’ll help his cause. There’s a dozen better fights that can be made. Vic doesn’t have much in the way of boxing skills compared tp Donaire.

Prior to the Donaire fight, Rigondeaux was labled an under achiever who would win by stinking out the joint. He beats Donaire and those same pundits are now calling him a pound for pound top fighter, while simultaneously calling Donaire a hype job. The author of this article typifys that knee jerk type boxing fan who rewrites history based on how a fighter looked in his last fight. Opinion, based on bias, passed off as journalism. This is exactly the kind of garbage that Malinaggi was ranting about, and it is a crime that a respected site like ESB has stooped to publishing such drivel. To add insult to injury, the grammer is a train wreck. If you are going to pass off unfounded opinions as facts, at least proofread it before posting.

Donaire by KO by the six round.

srminimo, yeah it kinda makes me wonder what’s really going on at Top Rank. Oh well…

Tomato Ca- I’m with you completely. I truly believe he asked Rigo to become more offensive so that he could become more fan friendly and Rigo told him to take a hike, so he’s making up excuses to keep him in time-out. Otherwise, I don’t know how Arum can have perhaps one of the great talents of the generation going to waste just because he beat what he hoped would become a cash cow. He did a similar thing with Bradley too, after the Pac fight. Not only did he drag Bradley through the mud by shouting robbery left and right, he also kept him in ice for a pretty long time after.

Vic never could box. He’s a ice job waiting to happen.

. . . depending on what’s left of both fighters reflexes and skills.

Donaire committed the same mistake that several previous fighters made once they became infatuated with their own KO performances, but he’s now wiser than that. in fact, it was a superb boxing-punching performance that turned Darchinyan’s lights-out in their first bout not a toe-to-toe exchanges. nonetheless, i’m not overestimating Donaire or underestimating the ferocity fueling Vic’s desire to FInally redeem the loss that demoted him from P4P star to perennial contender. it’s also not a bad idea to see if Nonito can replicate his previous boxing-punching prowess to once again defuse Darchinyan’s own KO power and exploit his unorthodox style. i consider both of these guys to be smart and savvy fighters. i’m anticipating a fiercely-contested (perhaps even boring) bout.

srminimo, I tend to agree, but the thing is, he’s promoting Lomachenko, and calling Rigon a boring fighter, instead of promoting him, if you know what I mean.

Posted November 6, 2013 3:23 pm

srminimo

Tomato Can- If Arum really puts Lomachenko against Rigo he really didn’t learn a thing, because Rigo will school him too!

PEEJ

Basically this is because Donaire is overrated. His whole career is based on one victory over Vic and then a string of show case fights against old, smaller, retired fighters. Oh and he was also put on meaningless PPVs against bums.

Titopa

Tomato Can – I agree. Donaire already knocked Darchinyan out, and when it mattered…but now? Nothing against Vic, the dude comes to fight, but he does NOTHING for Donaire at this point. Donaire needs to test his ability to deal with a boxer, I knew that’s risky due to how he looked against Rigo, but he’ll look even worse if he were to lose to a guy he already beat.

Posted November 6, 2013 2:56 pm

Tomato Can

Why is it, everytime an Arum favorite loses, he’s matched against a fighter he can’t miss with punches? And then if Arum doesn’t like the fighter he doesn’t find him any good fights. Look what’s going on with Rigo, now Arum’s looking to match him against the Lomachenko (sorry for the mispelling) because the kid really looks like he could dispatch of him. Look what happend to Clottey, sure he fought a terrible fight against Pacquiao, but did he deserve to be black balled for 3 years?

Donaire got Vic`s number ,ko again…….but would love to see a war

horst fraze

darchinyan has gained too many years and too many pounds but i still like his attitude. donaire by KO!

Posted November 6, 2013 12:49 pm

Hidalgo

A win over Darchinyan doesn’t define or prove anything for Donaire. A win for Darchinyan revenges his six-year-old loss to Donaire and buys him a couple more important fights.

But Peej is right. Donaire is over-rated. This guy got embarrassed by Rigondeaux when he should have put on a super champion performance. But this is what often happens when a record is built on fighting less than stellar opponents.

Like I said, all P4P rankings and lists are bunk. Donaire isn’t even on Ring Magazine’s P4P list anymore–after only 1 loss! Why? Because he didn’t belong there in the first place. Kind of like the whole P4P ratings BS–it doesn’t belong anywhere either.

PEEJ

Donaire is overrated. He should of never been fighter of the year. His fights where all showcase fights. All against old, small and retired fighters.

Posted November 6, 2013 11:32 am

The Mad Scientist

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Vic caught Donaire with a good shot and stops him..Nonito hasn’t been the same since his opponents became more aware of his counter left hook..take that punch (left hook) away from Donaire and he becomes an ordinary fighter

An upset is brewing. Vic has wanted this for a long time, he will leave nothing in the tank.

Should be a good fight! I am a darchinyan fan but I don’t see him winning this fight. I believe he will gas out in mid rounds and donaire will end up knocking Vic out.
