james toney is a fat ex ped user.Posted November 14, 2013 2:52 pm
James Toney recently lost to a Australian Heavyweight Lucas “big Daddy” Browne
What a sad sight
Not a fan of the Saw movies,
James To ney could be The Fish! If would’ve kept his weight down. It seems like he just eats whatever he wants now. Toney lay off the red meat dang!Posted November 14, 2013 11:20 am
DMX – Great analysis! I agree exactly with every prediction you made here. I think many would disagree with the ananlysis on Eubank but at his peak pre the Watson fight which destroyed his killer instinct Eubank had a way of beating everyone. His autobiography was a real eye opener and it highlighted how bad his nutritional regime was. He literally ate whatever he wanted until a few weeks before a fight and would then starve himself until he got himself down to the desired weight. When you see him at certain points in his career you could see how he struggled with his stamina and it was no doubt down to his awful weight managment. Technique wise though he was awsome and had the best chin I have ever seen.Posted November 14, 2013 6:14 am
Cyber Hamster agree (well almost)
A prime motivated Toney would overcome Hopkins as he did most obstacles when least expected, Toneys devastating knockout of Nunn tells you all you want to know
Think Toneys old school skills take care of Benn quite easily
Agree Eubank is a strange and challenging opponent for Toney
If Eubanks gets a SD against Toney, then a prime RJ Jnr pot shots, attacks, winds up Toneys notorious short fuse, spins him, leans on him, sends Toney crazy angry.
Toney v Calzaghe would have been a terrific battle
This is quite poor, Legg and Little are novices and not great ones at that. Gavern is a journeyman on a long losing streak. Olabimwo has great power but a glass chin. Toney is largely shot and doesnt have the workrate needed for this type of event. Sprott, Minto or Willis will win this one.Posted November 14, 2013 4:52 am
Prime Toney vs Prime Hopkins – personally I`d take James Toney by a UD.
I think Toney would have beaten Benn (though Benn is my second favourite fighter behind Hearns).
Toney-Eubank though I`d actually fancy Eubank to take in a crazy, posing, vicious fight.
Jones Jnr I`d pick to beat the lot of them, but with Benn being a very live dog.
However we don`t know how long Roy was juiced off his tits for. Clean Roy might be an entirely different scenario.Posted November 13, 2013 6:44 pm

I feel its a bit sad that James Toney have lacked so much dicipline in recent years and he was never a serius heavyweight material to begin with. If he could have been diciplined enough in his career to fight at least cruiserweight level and still be competive we could have had Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins vs. James “Lights-Out” Toney, a fight that could or should have happend years ago BUT Toney lacks that needed dicipline with keeping the weight down (he is 7-8 cm shorter then Hopkins and have a shorter reach as well). Also I heard enough trash talk from Toney on Hopkins that ” I can whip B-Hop’s but” or ” I would KO him early” etc BUT even a better conditopn Toney against the older Hopkins, still Hopkins would out-box Toney for 12 rounds with Toney just barley can keep up with the faster and ring smarter Hopkins after the 6 rounds of first half boxing match.Posted November 13, 2013 6:25 pm
Scrooge — Toney has “earned” respect? How about failing two post-fight drug tests including one following a world heavyweight title bout. He’s a disgrace to the sport. Had he been a multi-time failure in any other major sport he would be out of the game. Who knows how legit any of his other major fights were.Posted November 13, 2013 6:18 pm
So James Toney is considered at fit participant in the UK event. I guess Jersey Joe Walcott wasn’t available.Posted November 13, 2013 6:16 pm
There’s defence that makes me go “meh” like Wlads footwork & clinching, or Dirrells outright running, Winky wright shuffling around behind a high guard.
And there is defence that makes me go “Wow. That is like trying to pin jelly to a wall, and the jelly punches you in the face every time you miss”.
Toney at his best was the second.Posted November 13, 2013 5:50 pm
how this guy has a licence is unbelievable. hope one of these guys can finish him offPosted November 13, 2013 5:18 pm
James Toney was a masterful boxer and I think even at this late stage he can reach the final, he’s forgotten more than this lot will ever learn! A true defensive genius, used the shoulder roll better than mayweather does now back in his prime. If you wanted to try and teach a kid how to fight, you show them toney at his best. Whatever state he’s in now mentally, the man has earned and deserves respect and we as fans should give it to him. I for one wish him well.Posted November 13, 2013 4:50 pm

Don’t have time to watch 11 minute video. What’s Toney weigh?Posted November 13, 2013 4:02 pm
Hmmmmm.. “This has got to be the biggest joke Prizefighter has seen, how most of these guys are allowed to fight in it is beyond me.” I agree.. Little last fought 17 months ago, when he lost in the opening stage of another Prizefighter “event.” .. Unreal..Posted November 13, 2013 3:40 pm
Looking at what Toney has to fight against I give him a very good chance of winning. He hasnever been a threat at hw but he still is durable he went full 10 rounds with Lucas Browne who is much better competition then any of these guys have faced. I see Toney getting to final. Sprott has fought twice in prize fighter so he will do well but I’m excitiet about Larry o q big puncher with glass chin fun to watch. PriZe fighter brings out best and worse in fighters so just looking forward to it. My prediction sprott wins on points in final vs ToneyPosted November 13, 2013 3:38 pm
JAMES lights out TONEY was one of the greatest fighters of the 90′s. He could do things that other boxers wished they could with the ease and swagger of someone who was way out in front of the pack and he still showed enough beating VASSILY JIROV up at Crusierweight and then EVANDER HOLYFIELD at Heavyweight.
If he had retired after failing the drugs test after that match TONEY would easily have been mentioned alongside the best fighters of the last 40 odd years, but he has tarnished his own legend competing against guys who wouldn’t have gone 6 rounds in his heyday and embarrassing himself in MMA competitions!
I find it sad when truly gifted boxers carry on too long and can’t keep away from that dangerous place that is the squared circle, risking death, brain damage and other health risks competing well past their sell- by dates!
TONEY and ROY JONES were great fighters thru the 90′s but both show no let up in continuing to box and ultimately being humbled by lesser beings.
Still, let’s pray he comes through it safely!Posted November 13, 2013 2:58 pm
Before I pushed the button to see the weigh in, I said to myself, james tony leaves his shirt on and inwas right.
I make wise cracks about toneys weight but he s an older guy and it is hard to stay in shape after 40 and I get that but he is also a pro boxer still.
Its just one of those things we americans gota deal with these days.
Hope toney does well.Posted November 13, 2013 2:55 pm
This has got to be the biggest joke Prizefighter has seen, how most of these guys are allowed to fight in it is beyond me, this is the line-up:
James Toney – How is he even cleared to fight? He slurs badly now, obviously has no brain cells left, is a former shell of himself, this guy is going to end up being killed in the ring one of these days. He has no power at HW either.
Tom Little – WHO? 4 fights and already 1 loss, has won no fights by KO….what chance does he have?
Matt Legg – Again WHO? similar record to above
Damian Wills – Respectful record, he is the top one or two that most likely will win this.
Brian Minto – He’s ok – maybe in the top 3 to win this
Larry Olubamiwo – Never heard of him, Lost his last 2 (ok a TD on one) but hasn’t fought anyone of note
Michael Sprott – a host of losses, but may have a chance in this
Jason Gavern – This guy has 15 losses (7 by KO) – he also had 7 losses in a row, what does this tell ya?Posted November 13, 2013 2:53 pm

Toney is a legend, leg is just a leg.Posted November 13, 2013 1:03 pm
He is trying to promote and that is why he has taken on the bad guy roll. With that being said- He will soon be sitting in a nursing home in a wheelchair, being fed cream of wheat, wearing a diaper. He can hardly even talk at this point– I have absolutely no idea what he said doing that interview. There is nothing sadder that a man who has about two brain cells arguing a point.Posted November 13, 2013 12:12 pm
Garbage Man (Is Back)
Toney is done as a legitimate threat. He hasn’t looked good in a while. But one thing that surprised me was him weighing in at 217. When was the last time he was that light?Posted November 13, 2013 11:59 am
?? Nobody wants to fight Toney, that is why he entered the contest.
I do not know if Toney will win this thing, he is 45 and has not looked good in the ring in yearsPosted November 13, 2013 11:27 am
I actually thought the little old guy wearing the pink pants should have jumped on the scales.Posted November 13, 2013 11:21 am
the voice of reason
Toney obviously feels that he is above this sort of contest but then the question remains – why did he enter? dont really come across as a very nice man does he? Anyway – this is a fascinating business! i fancy gavern or minto to succeed but you just never know. Cant waitPosted November 13, 2013 11:04 am
