Correction: at least Kessler would have been higher than what Rodriguez has fought already.

Rodriguez is a very dedicated fighter, but I think he rushed in too soon to fight Ward as it is. At the very least, he should have fought higher competion such as Kessler. He wouldn’t have won even after that against Ward, but at least would have done better. Don’t see Rodriguez outboxing Ward or out-slugging Ward becasue Ward is just too smart for either strategy. Ward will in the very least pull a UD — probably Rodriguez will get the 1st round or two — after that, it will be all Ward bringing in the fight to his own terms.

Ward’s already wiped out the super middle division and after this beatdown against Rodriguez it’s time for him to clean up at lightheavy. Fights vs Stevenson and Kovalev should draw in some decent paydays for Ward before going after one the heavyweight belts, which is IMO is where he’ll establish himself as one of the the top 5 greatest fighters to ever live. You can put that down in your daybook as it’s only a matter of time folks.

Garbage Man (Is Back)

I would of given Dirrell a chance at beating Ward also but once they actually turned the fight down in the super 6 then it was clear then that he didn’t think he could beat Ward.

tbone- Neither of those guys have fought the level of competition Ward has. Mikey is very talented, but he’s sort of in the vacuum between monsters at 122/126 and monsters at 140, so it could be a while before we see him truly tested. If and when Mikey fights Gamboa I’ll put him near the top of the list. Broner is very talented as well, but his two best opponents are DeMarco and Malinaggi, who are solid fighters, but not top tier guys. Ward on the other hand cleaned out the top of perhaps the most talented and deepest division in the sport, plus he took out what was then the kingpin at 175 too.

Ward will completely outclass this guy. This writer states its no gimme but I think this is an outright gimme! Ward is that good that there is gonna be a struggle to get guys good enough to generate some kind of interest in his fights. People keep talking up GGG and I have to admit its a fight which would get my attention. But it Carl Froch with his championship experience, size and hussle was unable to put a dent in Ward so I dont like GGG’s chances much either. Its usually the case that a good fundementally skilled boxer beats eventually beats the powerful brawler so if Ward ever does get beat it will be against a guy who has better skills than his. The one person who I would have gave a crack at beating Ward is Andre Dirrell. This guys career has so far been the biggest underachievement in boxing in my opinion. His corner completely mis advised Dirrell in his fight with Carl Froch and Froch rightfully got the decision, but the reality is if Dirrell had came out of his defensive just a little he would have beat Froch with ease. A Dirrell (if coached right) vrs Ward fight could be an absolute chess match but I for one would been massively interested to how it would unfold.
