How about Johnson vs Perez?Posted November 19, 2013 12:14 am
kingpin should rob a store in deleware and go back to the canPosted November 18, 2013 2:24 pm
Good luck, Kevin, with finding an opponent. There are a lot of fighters out there, calling out the top men, but they seem reluctant to fight other contenders and continue to knock over second tier opponents.
Vitali knocked Solis out in the very first round with a right hook to the temple!!!!!!! The video does not lie…………..
Corrie Sanders was never a golfer, nor did he ever play golf as a pro, he was an amateur golfer…………Sanders was a very talented boxer who could do almost any sport, such as track & field. He was a very naturally talented fight, would have won gold if he had not been for the boycott of South African athletes…………………..Lewis admitted that he had avoided Sanders because of his talent……….Posted November 18, 2013 2:17 am
Safety pin, go away.Posted November 18, 2013 2:03 am
If a golfer ko’d Wlad, Solis ducking an amish bowler doesn’t surprise me.Posted November 18, 2013 12:08 am
I don’t even recall this fight being made. I wish I hadn’t heard about the cancellation, then i wouldn’t be disappointed.Posted November 17, 2013 11:48 pm
@ Fight Aficionado: Excellent post! And let’s not forget Solis’s gluttonous behavior at Taco Bell, Buffalo Wildwings and Dunkin’ Donuts!Posted November 17, 2013 11:23 pm
“Solis fighting Oner at a restaurant in Berlin soon, ppv on food channel.” – LOL. Solis lost his hunger when he left Cuba and got a fat signing bonus. The only hunger he’s had since is for rum and high fat junk food.Posted November 17, 2013 4:37 pm
Fight WilderPosted November 17, 2013 11:15 am
Johnson is a pacifist, got talent but waiting, waiting, waiting to throw a punch and Solis is lazy .How about wbc pacifist champion belt.Posted November 17, 2013 10:58 am
Solis fighting Oner at a restaurant in Berlin soon, ppv on food channel.Posted November 17, 2013 10:53 am
Watching the fit solis as an amateur you realize what a waste of talent he is today. I try to be respectful of guys who climb through the ropes but this guy is lazy.Posted November 17, 2013 10:20 am
they are not heavyweights today, they are super hw today, and soon they will be sumo hw.Posted November 17, 2013 7:06 am
CyberH I would not compare Wilder to Valero, who had a spectacular KO% against good comp and better skills. Wilder is still a project five years after turning pro. Valero won two titles in two divisions with a similar number of fights.Posted November 17, 2013 4:23 am
Personally I`d like to see JOhnson in the ring with a fully grown Bengal tiger, so that it could rip out his spleen and spare the boxer world another 12 rounds of Safetypin not only not pulling the trigger, but standing in the middle of the ring asking what a f.u.c.k.i.n.g gun is.Posted November 17, 2013 2:49 am
Yah, hook up KingPin with Wilder. Wilder will have a hard time hitting the KingPin. I think KingPin takes Wilder into the late rounds and beats him. KingPin is slick enough, but, Wilder staff will not risk a fight like that. Johnson vs Wilder, lets get it on!!Posted November 17, 2013 2:14 am
What I see with Wilder is he’s being poorly managed… Not enough fights… not good enough opponents… farming him out for a lot of top rate sparring is good — but you need to get him fights at some point… Put the money up and get him the fights.
When you try too hard to NOT make a mistake, you start to get chicken fat on your fighters — and they get stale from lack of appropriate competition — like I think happened to Malik Scott.Posted November 17, 2013 1:42 am
Figures. Solis knew that “The Kingpin” was gonna be at his best and that he was gonna get stopped. I’d really like to see “The Kingpin” fight someone else on the 26th, maybe Arreola, Wilder, Jennings, Perez, Ruiz or someone good. I don’t think Wilder will go near Johnson though. When Johnson comes in in-shape and is motivated, he’s a hard guy to beat. Would like to see Johnson come in at about 238 pounds & hope he still fights on the 26th. GO “KINGPIN!”Posted November 17, 2013 12:12 am
Yeah -I Liked Valero, he was a beast and always good to watch, vicious but raw. He was the kind of guy though, that you`d anticipate losing to a good boxer in a classic fight that demonstrates why it is called “Boxing” not “punching”.
Wilder I am not sold for a few reasons at present.
One is his evident chin problem – he got spannered by Egenyi Romanov in 2008 – the same year he “won” an Olympic bronze (a medal he was gifted by a 2 point penalty to his opponent in the QF with 10 seconds left).
Lastly, GBP is the biggest, most influencial promoter in the world. THey have had 30 fights, over the course of 5 years, with a powerful, black US heavyweight in a time that is screaming out for a US hope, and they haven`t managed to generate the interest or put up the money to get better than ex-name multiple KO victims as WIlders best opponent.
That doesn`t jive.
Mago and Perez got $40,000 each for their fight, and both evidenly posed a big risk to eachother. If Goldenboy can“t get together $100,000 to tempt that level of opponent I`ll eat my hat.
I am not panning WIlder, I actually quite like his attitude, I like his rangy power, I like his speed and he gets good leverage inside – the punches that hurt Price were quick shots inside, not the big right that finished it.
He has a lot of good tools, but to me it looks like he is being manouevered around at the D/C- level so he isn`t beaten before the Klitschkos retire.
Solis should have a loss on his record vs colonel sanders!!!!!!!Posted November 16, 2013 8:14 pm
Hamster.., I wouldn’t say Wilder has a poor jab… It’s more medium. It’s not a finished punch yet. His problem is poor matchmaking and not getting enough rounds in. They have to put more than a few thousand dollars up if a contender is going to risk getting KO’d.
Valero was a good fighter BTW… He also had a 100% KO ratio and winning percentage. Nobody is going to knock that number down.
And for Wilder opponents we’re talking Solis and Johnson here… not about Vitali, Wladimir, or Haye at this point. Deontay can handle this caliber opponent. Sometime I wonder if they just want to go for one big money fight with Wladimir, which I doubt they would do… They had a Chisora fight signed. Why not go back to that matchup?Posted November 16, 2013 7:13 pm
Doener – Solis’ manager – should put him with Ariza or somebody of this calibre to get him into shape.Posted November 16, 2013 6:48 pm
TARK – I`m surprised at how much you seem to rate Wilder when it appears to be inconsistent with your philosophy and means of assessing other fighters.
He has a poor jab, his stance – well I don`t know if it is the stance or the fact he home run swings every punch but he is very often completely off balance, sometimes to the point of falling over.
He`s just not the type of boxer-puncher you usually hype up. He is more of a 6″7 Edwin Valero.Posted November 16, 2013 5:53 pm
I didn’t want to see this fight anyway… I don’t know anyone who did… If either fought Wilder I would watch, just to see them get flattened.
Solis wasn’t flattened by Vitali.. He went down from the 1st touch that was softer than a snowflake hitting your hair.Posted November 16, 2013 5:13 pm
If you pull out of a fight you should get a technical loss. I think I speak for most boxing fans: I am really sick of this sheet.

with the the top cubans you have such a deep talent pool, but unfortunately half of the defected cuban nationals get a taste of the good life and lose the hunger and focus to capitalize on their abilities. gamboa being one of the biggest waste of talent i have ever seen.he was just arrested in florida yesterday on domestic violence. lara is another who hasn’t shown the domination that was originally forecasted.Posted November 16, 2013 4:09 pm

On topic: I’ve seen Solis fight Larsen. That was PATHETIC! Such a huge talent with an even bigger eating disorder. He has no discipline. What a waste of skills! Of course he won’t fight Johnson, he knows he could actually lose that bout.Posted November 16, 2013 3:14 pm

Solis has hit the point where he is pretty much impossible to promote. As one of GGG’s sparring partners said about Curtis Stevens, you can stick a fork in Solis.Posted November 16, 2013 1:13 pm

This is what’s wrong with the heavyweight division. When you have two guys of equal rank/ skill, one pulls out, and the fight is cancelled.Posted November 16, 2013 12:50 pm
This is unfortunate news…. I was looking forward to this one.Posted November 16, 2013 12:49 pm
This is bad news for kingpin, věry bad news. This was a chance to get back in the picture against a beatable guy with a decent rank by most boddies.Posted November 16, 2013 12:22 pm

what was the explanation for solis pulling out?Posted November 16, 2013 10:24 am
Solis is a disgrace, dosent fight enough and is fat and out of shape most of the time.I belive alot of people, fans of the hvwt. div. were looking forward to this,to see what Solis could do to Johnson and how he looked overall.Johnson has his faults but is not a walk in the park, and could pull out a win if someone isnt in shape or prepared.Solis has skills and good power but a bad mind set he will fall short in his career like he already is doing.Posted November 16, 2013 10:20 am
Solis is done.Posted November 16, 2013 10:13 am

Oh, man Odlianer Solis jumps-pff fight after fight and that is just so dissapointing. I will not like to say this BUT Solis seems to be nowdays afraid of fighting opponents with more skills or expearence and all he wan’ts to fight is tomato can or journyman level of fighters. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist Odlaner Solis have wasteds his tallent.Posted November 16, 2013 10:09 am
Johnson is all bark and no bite. Has done nothing in the division and rarely fights. Who caresPosted November 16, 2013 9:39 am
No wonder everyone is turning to UFC, these “fighters” are too frightened to fight.Posted November 16, 2013 9:39 am
Solis had to pull out because there is a burrito eating contest on the same date.Posted November 16, 2013 9:22 am
KINGPIN should target DEONTAY… Kingpin has failed to shine whenever he’s been given a shot in the spotlight, but possesses a good jab when he remembers to use it.
If you seriously think a guy you didn’t have qualms with fighting Vitali even though he lost due to injury is afraid to fight Queenpin or safetypin whatever his name maybe, you must be high on something. Yes, undercards help sell tickets and this fight wasn’t going to do it.Posted November 16, 2013 9:07 am
You sound like a member of his team…..This wasnt about tickets, this was on the undercard of a Golden Boy show, Solis-Johnson was not the main event. Has nothing to do with tickets, looks like your boy once again is too fat and has no balls. I hope they send his fat-ass back to Cuba….Can someone call Castro please.Posted November 16, 2013 9:01 am
I suspect Solis is fighting Adamek next, that’s why he’s pulled out besides his fight with Queenpin wasn’t going to sell tickets. But anyway, I’ll wait for a statement from Solis.Posted November 16, 2013 8:54 am
