Rios is a handpicked opponent who’s style is taylor made for Manny to look good against. The only chance that Rios has is if Manny’s punch resistance is shot. Even then, Rios is gonna have to connect clean. A tall order for Brandon.Posted November 20, 2013 12:13 pm
Adrien, once again I ask, name me one fighter who was sleep, not only sleep but sleep for a couple of minutes. But I will let you find one that is just slept and tell me if they had successful careers after. They are different types of knockouts plain and simple. Basically what you are saying is if I strain my knee or tear my ACL they will both be the same type of injury. They are both knee injuries. Sorry bro but it was a different type of KO. And nobody has yet to name a person that was put to sleep and then had a successful career after.Posted November 20, 2013 11:52 am
No doubt getting Ko’d isnt ideal, niether is getting belted 4 10 rnds…..lots of guys have come back from a bad lose, only time will tell if Manny is 1 of them? Lewis, Duran, Kosya unified after getting Ko’d….Problem 4 Manny is ge’s ring age is very old and its just a matter of time b4 it ends badly….Might not b against Rios? If not theres plenty of other guys licking there lips i.e Danny Garcia, Prod…..even Bradley might get a real win vs Manny in another six months? Time will tell and time isnt on Mannys side.Posted November 20, 2013 6:14 am
B red – anything is possible , and rios is the right opponent to answer a question about that. Will see ..Posted November 20, 2013 5:01 am
Manny could = Roy, we will seePosted November 20, 2013 4:26 am
Duran, Norris and Lewis weren’t asleep when the got KOd. They where still attempting to get up. Different type of KO. Odds are not in Pacs favor
Posted November 19, 2013 9:57 pm
Lol they were still ko’s , trying to get up or not they couldn’t get up in time …. If PAC was out longer makes no difference since he turned out to be physically ok , I mean he didn’t lose a limp or something …. It is by far much worse if a boxer gets beaten for 10 round even if he manage to survive like Bradley suffered against prodvodnikov … I am amazed Bradley came back because he really took a beating and honestly if I was in Bradley’s corner against prodvodnikov I would have stop the fight in round 7 and save Bradley for another day . Anyway Bradley did say he couldn’t talk well for 2 moths after the fight , that’s a bad sign right there!Posted November 20, 2013 3:33 am
Here he goes again giving fans an expectation from PAC …so now anything less from PAC in this fight he will be called shot! How can you predict a ko when a guy was never stoped before. ? Stfo already. !Posted November 20, 2013 3:23 am
The problem I have with Freddie Roach, don’t get me wrong here, I’m not taking away any of his accomplishments and all that he contributed to the sports, but the problem I have is that he seems to implement his own personal agenda to his fighters.
I can understand all the trash talk to sell fights, and I can also understand the concept of instilling confidence in your fighter, but what I see in Roach is that, under all that, he is subconsciusly projecting himself to his fighters. He makes the fighters an extension of himself, maybe to make up for his failures and frustrations in his life and career. I have noted that during the Tyson days and with Khan et al, recently and now with Pacquiao in his instructions between rounds in fights.
But hey, maybe it’s just me. Anyway, a Pacquiao fight is always exciting, and I just hope this fight is no exception, especially with a hit-me-so-I-can-hit-you-too fighter in Rios.Posted November 20, 2013 1:18 am
Tark, GGG. Trainer is none other than the trainer of my favorite boxer Terry norris.
I too see a stoppage by rio corner throw in the towel around the 8-9 round rio face will Be cut up by his old on and out twisting punches as the old days, a cut and no chance of rio winning will stop this fight. The difference is PAC never seen the punch that ko him. He was winning and consider Marquez lucky, so they is no fear that rio want to make PAC remember, only if you were getting beat up and got ko you are never the same.
One thing I don’t think a trainer should do is predict an early KO over a guy with an iron chin.. Rios can be hit but he takes everything.. He keeps coming.. Usually when he hurts somebody it’s right after he gets tagged himself.
He hates the Margarito comparison some writers tagged him with … Nobody likes to be disrespected by the other guy’s trainer. Nobody likes to be tagged as a punching bag who’s going to be sent home early.Posted November 19, 2013 11:13 pm
Terry Norris came back fairly well after he was smashed out by Julian Jackson… He beat the Hell out of Sugar Ray Leonard, but Leonard couldn’t hit him with anything big.
Norris got put out by big punchers after that—his chin was gone, but he would always do well until he got hit.. The worst was when that green kid Keith Mullins put him out.. Norris was supposed to fight De La Hoya if he won that one.. That was the end.Posted November 19, 2013 11:04 pm
Rios is good but he does not have anybody in his resume that is as skillful as Pacquiao. He is not very smart in the ring; he just goes foward. Yes, if he connects he might have a chance for a knockout but that is a distant shot. Those who talk about glass chin when refer to Pacquiao may want to think about their stament because the shot from Marquez would had knock out almost anyone around that weight category. I still think that Garcia would had been a better match up: more competitive. Danny has proven that he is smart and can punch. Those of you who follow boxing closely already given Pacquiao the nod; however, without disregarding a punchers chance for Rios.Posted November 19, 2013 10:52 pm
I think there is a crazy chance this fight ends in the most unexpected way: rios wins 12 found decision.
Pacquiao does not fight well backing up.
Pacquiao does not fight well on the inside in phone booth fight.
Pacquiao only fights well coming forward with speed that pushes his opponents back. Pacquiao lost to morales in their first fight because morales pushed him backwards with heavy jab and right hands to the body. Then morales outfought pacquiao on the inside with counter rights.
We could see something similar from rios.
If rios comes forward, if rios gets off his punches first, if rios goes to the body effectively and fights well on the inside — then rios has a chance. Rios needs to keep his defense tight and NOT go for a knockout. Then rios has a chance in a 12 round decision.Posted November 19, 2013 10:37 pm
It is true that pacquiao beat Bradley — but he did not win by much, he did not connect much on Bradley, he did not hurt Bradley, and the judges gave it to Bradley.
I would not call this a great or even good performance.
Even if you believe pacquiao beat Bradley — you have to say that the last 2 fights were not great performances. So we don’t know what will happen against rios.Posted November 19, 2013 10:25 pm
Duran, Norris and Lewis weren’t asleep when the got KOd. They where still attempting to get up. Different type of KO. Odds are not in Pacs favorPosted November 19, 2013 9:57 pm
This writer Rob Smith needs to understand something. Manny did not lose to Timothy Bradley. Not sure which fight he was watchingPosted November 19, 2013 8:56 pm
“His power is that of a super heavyweight.”-LMFAO!!!! I bet his sparring partners are dropping like FLIES then.Posted November 19, 2013 8:46 pm
Manny needs to let the KO come, if starts trying to make it happen for Roach’s prediction, he may walk into to something and get his chin tested. No matter what Pacquiao does in this we won’t have any questions answered until he takes a few solid punches on his jaw. If he takes a straight right and it forces his chin into his neck, he’ll be out again, no doubt about that…Posted November 19, 2013 8:44 pm
The legendary Manny Pac Man Pacquiao will rise to the top as he always does. Remember Duran, Norris, Lennox Lewis all came back from devastating knockouts. I watched a few rounds of Manny sparring in the Philippines, and he was simply amazing. He’s a solid 147 pounder with blazing speed. His power is that of a super heavyweight. The doubters will quickly find out just how special and talented Manny Pacquiao is. This is not just a normal fight for Manny. It’s a fight for his people and his country and for himself. The world will shine. The planet will align, and people will have hope after Manny destroys Goliath.Posted November 19, 2013 8:30 pm
…didn’t Roach said the same thing about Marquez?Posted November 19, 2013 8:22 pm
between the lines Roach says that Pacquiao has to beat Rios within the first four rounds because he is almost finished and cannot compete longer than that.Posted November 19, 2013 8:04 pm
as i said before… if Rios wins, most will say he BEAT A WASHED UP PAC. if PAC wins, all will say HE CHERRYPICKED RIOS.
Try not to think critics… just enjoy the fight.Posted November 19, 2013 7:51 pm
Duran was no knocked out cold. That is false. He was trying to get up. Was he able to no but he wasn’t sleep.Posted November 19, 2013 7:18 pm

That’s true ask chad dawson roy jones Ricky hat ton about thatPosted November 19, 2013 6:57 pm
I dont think Manny is a smart enough fighter 2 b gun shy…Manny only no’s 1 way, in and out punches in bunches….4 get defence turn it in2 a war. As soon as Manny tries anything diff it’ll b time 2 hang them up……he will go out swinging.Posted November 19, 2013 6:56 pm
If Pac and Rios both have their A game it’s an obv KO win for Pac. If Pac’s chin is no longer solid, as they often aren’t after getting KTFO, he could be in trouble. I questioned why they went with Rios for his first fight back early on. Your guy gets put to sleep and you match him against a puncher? Not smart.Posted November 19, 2013 6:56 pm
@ Peej – I am just as convinced as you are regarding Pac’s comeback from a devestating KO.
Here’s one scenario I haven’t heard yet. MP being gun shy during the fight and just worrying about not getting that chin tapped again. I am just hoping this turns out to be a decent fight.
I know what the fanboys will say. PAC has comeback from defeat before, and he came back stronger than ever. What say you?Posted November 19, 2013 6:51 pm
You are not the same for some reason. Can’t take the punches you used to be able to take. Could be a mental think like having knee surgery but never able to so the things you used too only because it’s mental. There are a few things that can cause problems. But mainly you just can’t take those punches anymorePosted November 19, 2013 6:50 pm
There has been guy come back from getting Ko’d….Posted November 19, 2013 6:49 pm
Nope watch it again and you will see Duran trying to get up. I thought so too till someone told me other wise and to rematch it. I also just rematches before posting this. He is moving and trying to get upPosted November 19, 2013 6:48 pm
Kostya unified after losing 2 Phillips….arrrhhh super zab never 2 b forgot.Posted November 19, 2013 6:47 pm
Joe Louis was knocked out as a 23-year-old—but not clean out.. “I could hear the referee counting like a voice from far away.. It made no difference. I couldn’t move.” Jack Blackburn made Louis fight again within 2 months.
It was scary when Roy Jones fought after he was KO’d by Glen Johnson, but he beat a washed up Felix Trinidad and Jeff Lacy after that … Augie Sanchez was done after he was carried out …. Mike Quarry never really had good wins after he was iced … Paul Williams didn’t look good but was awarded a win over Lara … Most guys who get put to sleep never come back that well—but I don’t see why one couldn’t.. You have the same body—and brain after it heals.. Pacquiao passed all the neurological tests so he’s fine.Posted November 19, 2013 6:46 pm

Peej- Touche. Duran was out cold vs. Hearns, so You are wrong there. I will add in Norris. I have to think about the 3rd.Posted November 19, 2013 6:39 pm
Pacquiao cannot defeat Mayweather by beating Rios, even if he kills Rios in the ring… Pacquaio should be able to put a beating in Rios and move forward, the style in which he does it will tell the story… Any jeopardy or too tough an affair will NOT bode well for PAC Man…Posted November 19, 2013 6:36 pm
People think Pac will lose this fight because of how he lost to Marquez, by crushing KO. Nobody can name a person who was put to sleep and came back with a successful career so that should tell you something.Posted November 19, 2013 5:53 pm
I tend 2 agree…however if somehow Rios gets through the esrlier rounds this could turn out exciting. Manny is a very diff fighter after the 1st 4/5 rounds…im not convinced in Brandons chances….Manny by Knockout 4 me, Rios doesnt no how 2 use his length….Posted November 19, 2013 5:29 pm
Manny Pacquiao is once again being underestimated by many of his haters. After this fight is over, and Manny has risen back to being the top fighter in boxing with a crushing victory, the haters will look for another reason to down arguably the greatest fighter of all time. If Manny had not lost to Ped Man Marquez, no one would be saying Manny would lose this fight, but as sin took the opportunity to jump in on the biblical commandments, haters take the opportunity to take Manny down. Don’t be surprised if Manny does the unthinkable and KO Rios in round 1. Remember, Manny Pacquiao is a hungry, explosive emotional fighter set on destruction and devastation. It’s been a year since he last fought, his country has been devastated by the disaster, people are looking to him for hope, this is a man possessed with passion and energy to not let his people down, and he won’t. One suggestion for everyone, don’t leave the TV for a second, the fight may end a lot sooner than everyone thinks. Manny Pacquiao does great things. Expect one this saturday.Posted November 19, 2013 5:19 pm
Another TOP STINK match up….Rios got schooled by Abril. Only reason this fight happening is because Bob Arum protecting his cash cow pacman and trying to steal money from boxing fans. Not my hard earned Money!
Mayweather would school pacman even on he’s worst day. F Bob arum and WBC…boxing will be better off when they’re gonePosted November 19, 2013 5:12 pm
Pacquiao is washed up he’ll only be a threat the first 4 rounds then he will fade. If Rios counters Pacquiao well then y’all will probably see another KO.Posted November 19, 2013 4:56 pm
Sorry but all wrong. I said knocked out like Jones and Pac. All those fighters where trying to get up. Pac and Jones where put to sleepPosted November 19, 2013 4:31 pm

Duran, Lewis, DarchinyanPosted November 19, 2013 4:29 pm
Exactly boxs, think back and see if you can come up with 3 names that have been KOd like Pac and Jones where and had a successful career afterwards.Posted November 19, 2013 4:19 pm
Floyd didn’t pull out of negotiations, Arum pulled out. Everytime they where negotiating and then they came across the drug testing Arum put a time on it and went a different route. Not sure what the problem is. You either agree or you don’t . There is no way to negotiate around it. So you really think Ariza is gonna work with someone who is also working with another conditioning coach. Really. So if Rios comes up dirty you really think Ariza would have his name attached to that. Really? That is terrible you actually think that.Posted November 19, 2013 4:18 pm
Peej I said Ariza is a cover up Heredia was the original trainer for Rios and is still working behind the seens in Rios camp. I’ve also ssid Pac should be tested but Floyd pulled out of negotiations because he didn’t want any part of Pac period testing or not.Posted November 19, 2013 4:15 pm
Hopefully MP does not turn out to be like Roy Jones JR, He got KO by Tarver, then the comeback fight got KO by Glen Johnson who is somewhat like Rios a pressure fighter with a granite chin with good powerPosted November 19, 2013 4:08 pm
I agree. Like I said if he shows no ill effects of the KO then Pac wins if he does then Pac gets KOd. You already know my pic and I have yours. lolPosted November 19, 2013 4:04 pm
So now that Ariza handles everything for Rios you are saying he is on something. So then you think that Pac was on something then also. And they are doing the olympic style testing which would be testing for those band substances. Do the testing that Vada is well known for and catching people usingPosted November 19, 2013 3:44 pm
A lil research goes a lobg way my friend.Posted November 19, 2013 3:36 pm

Anonymous what conclusion is one to come to when he is in all of his countrymens camps for their fights with Pac.Posted November 19, 2013 3:34 pm
He might go 6.Posted November 19, 2013 3:24 pm
@ Hec Dog. It’s apparent that MP is your boy; however, facts are facts. An out of his prime Eric Morales defeated MP while clowning around in the last round. MP got his revenge, and kudos to him for avenging his defeat. Marquez was never destroyed by Manny. We all know who actually destroyed who. Marquez won 3 of those fights at best.
I respect your opinion, but please tone down the MP hype machine. There’s more to this fight than MP just wrecking all comers. Remember a guy named Roy Jones Jr. He had a hard time winning fights after his KO loss from Tarver. Don’t be shocked if you don’t see the same MP as before. His ardent fans maybe in for a reality check. I hope it’s a great fight. Don’t really care who wins this, but Rios may surprise some people.Posted November 19, 2013 3:19 pm
a juiced up rios,,fu#k me not another one.Posted November 19, 2013 3:16 pm
The blueprint is to wait for when he feints, he leaves his chin hanging thats when you throw tge right hand.Posted November 19, 2013 3:16 pm
Pac will be fighting a juiced up Rios this will be the 4th fight out of 6 fights that Pac will be fighting a juiced fighter Heredia worked with Margo and Marquez twice. Rios hired Heredia 4 months ago the standard amount of time to start juicing with training. Heredia has faded into the backround to avoid attention but he’s still working with them Ariza is a cover up. Don’t be surprise if Rios goes the distance but like Margo it might cost him an eye.Posted November 19, 2013 3:04 pm
Actually Pac won a decision against Margacheato if I am not mistaken. But he did predict a KOPosted November 19, 2013 3:00 pm
I also think Pac wins this fight by TKO, around the 7-9 round range. I do however wonder if Pac gets KOd again will all you Pactards be saying Rios was taking PEDs from Ariza.Posted November 19, 2013 2:55 pm
The Mad Scientist
What Freddy Roach fails to mention is that his fighter now has a sticker glued to his chin that says made in china that Brandon Rios is gonna target hard and often all night long so ktfoiao better becareful if he is out to seek and destroy wich I doubt..Posted November 19, 2013 2:43 pm
Manny Pacquiao, the living legend will dominate a tough Brandon Rios this Saturday. Braandon does not have the speed, reflexes, defense or movement to win this fight. Manny is resilient, he is physically fine, and the long layoff did him well. The world will see a new refreshed, rejuvenated and explosive Manny Pacquiao. The unmatched speed, power, athleticism and ring generalship will be put on display. We must remember that Manny Pacquiao is considered by most the greatest fighter of all time. He was already voted Fighter of The decade by respectful, knowledgeable people in boxing. Manny will constantly land that right hook while moving in and out easily avoiding any punches from Rios. The feints will have Rios guessing, and Manny’s superior feet will dance all night long. Rios will be more than surprised at the fastest hands in boxing coming at him at various unpredictable angles. This will be the young fearsome Manny Pacquiao that destroyed and dismantled the following great fighters: Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Rickey Hatton, Antonio Margarito, Juan Manuel Marquez (3 times), Joshua Clottey, Diaz, Shane Mosely. This reign of devastating terror has never been matched by any other fighter in the history of boxing. Manny not only beat them, he destroyed them. I have no doubt this fight will end before 9 rounds. I surely hope that the referee pays close attention to the damage Rios is going to take. Manny Pacquiao is a fire ball of emotions right now, and he’s coming back with a vengeance. Unfortunately, Brandon Rios is the target. Manny Pacquiao will show the world, not just the boxing world why he brings excitement to the boxing ring like no other past, present or future fighter. You will see Rios bloodied , bruised and broken within 5 rounds. He will eventually fall apart like a saltine cracker. Garciabetter be close to the ring with 10 white towels ready to surrender because Rios will fight to the end, and that will be his downfall. Boxing is brought back to life by Manny Pacquiao.Posted November 19, 2013 2:41 pm
Whats funny is every time Roach gives his prediction on a KO it never occurs.Posted November 19, 2013 2:24 pm

Rios has a punchers chance the same as any boxer has but I got to go with Freddy, pacman is going to stop him early! Pacman has seen rios style plenty of times, rios is yet to face anything close to pacquiaos style!Posted November 19, 2013 1:54 pm
