Joe, I’m not only a fan of Ward I believe he is a superhero. He brings physical gifts, developed form, concise recognition and having Virgil Hunter is like Batman having Alfred or James Bond having “Q”. Rodriguez had to deal with the reality of a clobbering jab, jousting body shots and totally unpredictable behavior inside. At one point Ward rolled and cycled his gloves while approaching just like Joe Calzaghe would. He has ironed the seems out of so many styles – there is no style – he is a living Bruce Lee who has mastered the dragon! The wicked thing is considering ring rust and what Andre’s next opponent will be in for. Ronnie Shields was spending a big percentage of his minutes between rounds concerned about the bucket, chastising Edwin and vocally vague about effective countermeasures whereas Virgil was calmly instructing Andre as to specific offensive actions and reminding him of the game plan and ultimately explaining how to remain unscathed – by the numbers. Carl fights Groves early (our time) this Saturday….Highly anticipating what Carl’s girlfriend is wearing – I mean what Carl has to say after the fight. Regarding Andre. LOL – take it light Brother.

Thanks, CVD…Sergio is a very good color commentator and was actually in the running to co-host “Fight Night” on NBC Sports Network. He eventually lost the gig to BJ Flores, but Sergio is very good a breaking down match-ups.

Mountains swamps and wild dogs: “Leo Santa Cruz aint fought the kind of competition that Ward has fought. Wards wrasslin is primal old school so still cool.”

Anyone still think that judges in boxing are corrupt? In boxing, one man’s rubbish has always been another man’s treasure

Gary, it’s great to hear from you as usual!!

I have immense respect for Andre and his abilities in the ring…I think that’s what frustrates me the most about him.

He has all of the athletic gifts to proficiently pick apart his opposition from multiple ranges…especially from the inside.

But he elects to merely tie his opponents up on the inside, rather than working with clean effective punching underneath.

It also kills me that most boxing scribes are trying to convince the casual sports fans that Ward is one of the more proficient inside fighters in boxing. That’s rubbish!! I wish he did fight more on the inside instead of just landing one shot and holding underneath.

If you want to see an example of brilliant inside execution, look at Leo Santa Cruz’s title winning effort against Vusi Malinga in 2012.

That is great inside fighting…not the kind of Hattonesque method of mauling that Ward does in every bout.

Another great show Joe! I’ve watched the Ward fight 3 times trying to scope out all the subtle things he does and it really is as if he has brought together every successful fight style and melded them together to spring surprises all 36 minutes long. Both Dawson and Rodriguez just broken around the 8th round while Andre was just starting assaults that garner longevity. I’m thrilled to see Andy Ruiz Jr. is on this weekend’s card – - – I wish Andy could fight a televised 6 rounder every month – He’s got one heck of an earning career ahead of him.

Thanks, Hidalgo…you can ask away, brother.

One of the reasons why I prefer to feature trainers on a regular basis, is because they are so much more candid and forthcoming. Not only do they provide more insight than most young fighters, but they also don’t care about their image as much as the boxers who appear on the show.

Great show tonight, Joseph. If you have Shields on again this coming Sunday, I’d like to ask him a question or two.

And then I watch Bobby Gunn vs Tomasz Adamek fight. He was kinda right. That’s an insane stoppage. I hate the fixens, I hate to believe the upper powers have control. Besides that, I believe Roy Jones has something left in the tank.
