god some of these comments are wild ha ha i like khan guys but the thing is when he gets hit his legs go just the way things go for him his chin is suspect big time and all boxers who face him know that he has good hand speed but when hit on the chin lights are going out for him one more defeat for him and he will be gone he needs s full time trainer to be with him only roach is a great coach but he was not always with him

One word for you my man ¨OVER RATED” he thinks he is special but he isn´t, he had troubles agaist Peterson and lost, he almost got killed by Maidana, not to mention Prescott, the only thing your guy can do is pretend he a king but not in the ring, he now can only dream about facing top five fighters because that´s all he can do, Ricky Hatton had more heart than him and his feet are still in the ground.

I think is unfair for those two fighters I think a fight with Guzman, would be great is he wants to start with a statement but if he is picking fighters to benefit him it only means one thing, he is not 100% ready mentally. I think heś over rated and would get beat again and in bad fashion watch..

Holding is for fighters lacking cojones. Every fighter should fight Ala Martinez, instead of holding and hitting and hitting and holding, Ala Bernard Hopkins….

I don’t see the reasoning behind HBO not wanting Soto as Khan’s opponent. Even thought Soto lost to Mathysse, he’s still a hell of a fighter and Khan would benefit with a bigger exposure, should the fight be in the States. The loss to Mathysse should not be taken as a big step backwards for Soto as Mathysse should be considered undefeated because he ‘lost’ those two fight in ‘enemy’ territory….

After going to Ward’s trainer Khan will be a FORCE to be reckoned with. His inside Fighting, Inside Defending, and Overall IQ will increase exponentially. He’s headed for the Top 10 P4P.

I took Khan’s nut out of my mouth and they tasted like your moms twat. STFU tough guy because the only thing you beat was your puny vienna sausage. Go learn about boxing before your dumb ass opens his mouth, because Khan has enough balls to step into the ring with top 10 jr. welterweights while you suck your momma’s thumb. Stupid effing moron.

Posted September 25, 2012 10:03 pm

Eddie, Take Khans nut out of your mouth for a moment and go back and read the post again you dumb clown!

You’re about as bright as Khan has smarts!

Here’s a clue Dumbo …. “mandatory” …. “Unification”.

Once you’re done, go and stand, facing the corner with your finger over your lips!

Posted September 25, 2012 9:50 pm

Eddie

Are you telling me that Maidana was not a good fighter? Because he was rated in the top five in pretty much every serious rating system. The same goes for Peterson, Kotelnyk, and Garcia. None of these men were smaller. So, the question, do you really know what you’re talking about, or do you just hate Khan so much taht you can’t even givehim credit for the fighters he does fight? Who cares if Khan will never be great, guess what, 99% of all fighters out there will never be great. So enjoy the fact that he does take serious challenges, and enjoy his fights, which for the most part are very entertaining, even when he does get Ko’d.

Posted September 25, 2012 9:24 pm

Eddie

Wrong dude, check every serious, non-biased website that ranks fighters. Everyone of those I mentioned were in the top 10 of the jr. welterweight division BEFORE fighting Khan. Do your homework and you’ll see that. Name me 10 fighters who isn’t a P4P fighter that fights that level of competition? Again, I am no fan of Khan, but if you know anything about boxing, then you’ll know that Khan has faced good competition. For some inexplicable reason, some people have this hatred towards him and can’t even give him credit for fighting good fighters. As far as light fisted fighters are concerned, you are aware that some of the best fighters in history were not big punchers. So, why this whole thing with light fisted fighters, if they’re good fighters they’re good fighters.

Posted September 25, 2012 9:19 pm

Mad Knackers

Khan has blistering hand speed and good skills but needs to cuten up his defence. Hold on when hurt (and he will get hurt with that chin) instead of trying to show how tough he is. He needs to calm his style down instead of getting riled up. Typical long range fighter. He is very exciting to watch (puts bums on seats) and remember this is a business. He also tried to align the belts which is more than these ‘so called’ champions. Bring back one championship belt.

Posted September 25, 2012 8:10 pm

B Red

I guess its the governing bodies needing the money to sanction the bouts, so thats how they get the money with all the belts.

Here’s how it is and how it all has been with the Khan dog and pony show!

They have always fed Khan little men, piglets in dresses, whispered in his ear how great he is and called him champ.

But they always have and always will have to face the inevitable, that along the way, they’re gonna have to deal with that peshky issue that is the “mandatory” (someone who has actually FOUGHT their way to a shot) challenger, or that other nuisance, the “unification” fight and again with the latter, they’re little plump duck which has been force fed shleps, midgets and pensioners is more than likely gonna be exposed for what he basically is, a decent level fighter, with half-decent skills with decent speed.

They have been exposed multiple times and still try the same old crap of throwing their boy a three legged horse.

Time to grow some balls in my opinion and if they cannot find a 140lb top 5 fighter to back their hand with, then they need to cut their losses and quit trying to take boxing for clowns!

I don’t believe Khan would say that about Froch – sorry but I simply don’t believe it. Also you are entitled to your opinion but as far as I remember Khan has fought Maidana, Judah, Prescott, Garcia etc and it may be BS but according to Richard Schaefer Khan’s problem is that he never says no to an opponent. I also think that Virgil Hunter made some good points about Khan’s so-called glass jaw the other day – he reckoned that Khan can take a good punch however it’s the decisions he makes after taking the punch that cost him.

Posted September 25, 2012 6:32 pm

Eddie

Dude, you would need a tree diagram to explain it accurately. All you need to know, is that there really isn’t a clear best jr. welterweight, welterweight, or jr. middle weight. If no one fights each other, as is the case, then we won’t have a clear dominant champion. We know Sergio Martinez is the best middle weight because he beat the linear champion in Kelly Pavlik. But get this, the best jr. welterweight was Bradley who moved to 147, so there is no clear champ at 140 until someone starts cleaning the division. The linear champ at welterweight can’t even be remembered because it was so long ago that there was a clear champ at 147. And at 154 it was Sergio Martinez who was once hailed as the best 154 for s short time until he moved to 160. So again, unless guys in top 5 of these divisions start fighting each other there won’t be anything concrete. At this point there are only assumptions of who is the best.

I’d argue with the ‘and win’ bit… 2 of those fighters are in the top 10 because they beat Khan up.

Judah is done, Malignagi has no power and neither does Kotelnyk. The other 3 he lost to or nearly lost to.

Somebody help me out here. I confused about all the belts. what is a wba interim champ , regular champ or diamond belt champ. Who holds the real belts at Ww and Jr middleweight? I thought Floyd was the WW champ and WBA jr middleweight champ. So why is Austin Trout Wba champ?

I love it how so many boxing fans take things so personal. LOL. As if they knew Khan. I don’t care if Khan lives or dies in the next hour; all I can tell you is that the guy has skills but a very weak chin and that he should be boxing guys instead of trading with him. And that he’s faced some of the best jr. welterweights in the world. And that when he does fight as flawed as he is he still more fun to watch than many fighters out there. And that’s enough for me; as long as I am entertained and he’s fighting good fighters thats all I care about. The rest is for guys who go on the internet and write the dumbest things humanely possible.

Posted September 25, 2012 4:44 pm

Eddie

Maidana, Garcia, Peterson, Malignanni, Judah, and Kotelnyk were all top 10 jr. welterweights. And these guys e fought in his last 8 fights or so. How many champions today fight 6-7 fighters in the top 10 of their division in 8 fights. Not Adrian Broner. Not Alvarez. Not Chavez. Not Gamboa. And not many others Only the real elite fighters consistenly fight guys in the top 10 and win. You can view it however you want too, thats your perogative. But the facts say that he’s faced 6-7 guys ranked in the top 10 of his division. Nuff said.

He should get KO’d by garcia/matthysse receive 2 nice fat checks & call it a career.

Posted September 25, 2012 4:22 pm

If he could just tone down the arrogance he’d get more respect. When Froch lost in a close decision against Kessler, Khan tweeted ‘Poor Carl, we all knew he wasn’t world class.’

If I were Froch, I’d be having fits looking what’s happened to Khan’s career in recent months. A career carved out selecting the best opponents to maximise his name and protect his fragile chin. The opposite of the route Froch has chosen.

You’ll find he’ll go around the houses saying, I may fight Maidana, I may fight Mattheysee, and the likelihood is, he’ll go for some 38 year old blown up lightweight.

Posted September 25, 2012 3:21 pm

If he did “man up” he would definitely shut us haters up for a bit but he’l only fight truly dangerous fights when he has to and it Khant be avoided pardon the pun., like mandatory challengers who usually give him the hardest fights or KO him.

Posted September 25, 2012 3:06 pm

Here are some that would happily step in the ring with him that he has avoided… Maidana rematch, Prescott rematch, Kell Brook… If you want to give me a list of the high class operators he has faced, I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one on here laughing.

The really funny thing is, he lost to two fighters in Garcia and Peterson, who he expected would be easy wins. He didn’t even have a rematch clause in the Peterson fight. Since he won the title off of the light punching Kotelnyk, he took on the light punching Salita followed by the dynamite punching Mallignagi… Do me a favour. The best name on his resume is Barrera, just three weight divisions and a decade too late for it to mean anything.

WHY ON Earth would Diego Chaves (WBA Interim Welterweight champion) want to sacrifice his strengths and undefeated record to weaken himself by moving down to fight Khan at 140????
What would a win do for him at 140 if he intends to fight at 147???? Yes, eyebrows may be raised, but the big fish are at 147, with the likes of Floyd, Pacman, Desert Storm, Alexander and even Malignaggi….

If Chaves is serious about making a real name for himself he should swerve Khan who will stiff him on the money anyway as the whole world knows the Khan’s are misers when it comes to paying fighters what they are worth (cf: Maidana and McCloskey momey wrangles)….

What irks me is he is playing teh Pacman role of getting fighters to move down in weight to fight him and give up all their advantages….

Why not Khan man up and come in at 147 and try and do something special and earn his way back into contention????

I must admit I know next to nothing about this Chaves guy, which will be a major worry if he gives Khan a complete hiding!

Wrong dude. Khan has fought the best fighters that would step in the ring withhim at 140. If you can’t see that you’re obviously biasedly blind. Alvarez and Broner are overly protected; no khan. And by the way, I am no fan of Khan, but I do respect the fighters he’s faced.

Khan don’t know what he is getting himself into

Please, his resume is filled with feather fisted fighters ala Malignagi and Kotelnyk and former greats who were well past their best ala Juda and Barrera. With the exception of Maidana, where he was greatly assisted by the ref, he’s lost to everyone who doesn’t fit into either of the above categories.

He isn’t just protected, he is the MOST protected fighter in boxing. To top it all off, he actually calls himself a “Superstar” what a tool.

Posted September 25, 2012 9:34 am

T-Bag

Man if you think Khan was outboxing Garcia before the KDs you need to go back and watch the fight again. Khan was throwing more punches, that’s it, he was outworking him for 2 rounds but in no way outboxing him. in fact even in round 1 the significant punches were being landed by Garcia and he was timing that left hook from the first 30 seconds of the fight. no way in hell was khan outboxing him, he was just throwing a lot of punches and blowing his load while garcia patiently picked his shots and stayed calm.

this Chaves kid will KO Khan yet again and end his career, they’ll never take that fight.

Posted September 25, 2012 9:03 am

Say what you want about Khan, but he is hardly overly managed and DEFINITELY not overly protected. If anything, he’s been matched too tough. I can’t think of any active fighter short of Carl Froch who fought as many top level fighters in a row as Khan.

Posted September 25, 2012 8:52 am

He’s the most over managed and protected fighter in boxing. Looks great when attacking but can’t defend himself, lousy on the inside and clueless once tagged.

When all roads in the light welter division lead to Matthysse what will he do?

LOL at all the Khan hate. Whilst Im not his biggest fan I am able to keep a cool head when assessing his boxing skills. anyone who thinks his career as this writer puts it is ‘on the brink of being finished’ is not looking at things straight. I my score card, even taking into account the very debatable deducted points, I had Khan winning the Peterson fight by a point. Either way it was a very competative fight and not a career ender. With regard to the Garcia fight he was completely outboxing the guy until he got caught. Any trainer worth their while would fancy training khan and being able to make the adjustments to improve his defence.
