ROD, I AGREE with you re LUCAS BROWNE, but if Price loses to Browne who beat a deer in the headlights in RICHARD TOWERS (disappointingly, terrible performance by him), then there is really nowhere for him to go….

He will drop down a level to boxers who are less able than a Browne.

Lucas Browne vs “improved” price would be interesting. I would say two easy fights for price then throw him in with browne arreola or chisora. If he gets though maybe perez, povetkin then a title shot. It he does not make it…………game over

I want to see price against chisora after 2 or 3 fights with bums. He needs to start from scratch and get back to the top 10. Chisora is a test. He is a pressure fighter as is arreola. 2 loses to old Thompson but how many people have beaten him. Pulev who was losing for the first 3 or so rounds and Wlad. That’s it. I think Price can improve over the next year or so.

price should stay clear of boxing period.

THE MORE I think of it! the more I think PRICE should steer clear of DELBOY. I can see DELBOY rolling under Price’s weK jabs and getting into his ribs and midsection and basically, tearing him apart with the heat he brings.

I don’t think he hits hard enough with a single shot, but the clusters and pressure he brings to bear will unhinge PRICE and force a stoppage by midway.

My view would be to steer David away from humiliating beatings he would take from CHISORA and Fury and stick to the European second tier circuit for at least another year and actually learn the game of boxing….jabbing, feinting, tying up close! working the body, defending and most importantly for David, learning how to move effectively in a boxing ring.

Price doesn’t move well, his balance is atrocious and he is very stiff and lumbering. He needs to be much more relaxed, looser in his stance to ensure he is in position to defend or attack instantly, and move forward, back and sideways without even thinking about it.

At present PRICE is light years from being able to command the ring like he should and only when he gets this should he be stepped up. He has super, natural power, but is limited in most other facets of his game.

There’s nothing wrong in taking even two years, so long as he learns the game, bottom up to get to his final goal…… but, I’d avoid the top 20 for the foreseeable!

SKIPPER

Mr Gav,

As much as I am not a Frank Warren fan you can not blame him here think you mean Frank Maloney.

Price would be better suited sticking behind the jab and not trying to throw bombs all the time to blow people away. The last defeat was shocking but the fatigue was done to nervous energy rather than a lack of fitness. Would rather see him in with a British fighter like Mike Sprott to go a few rounds

#45 Contender

Can´t understand why he must be boxing. He looks like he hates to be in the ring- There is so much more in life for him that doing something he hates.

If he was black, he would have a chance at beating Wilder. But because he is white, I am obligated to trash him. Stay tuned.

Price is like Fraudley Harrison

Fight Aficionado

Reasonable this time . They’re putting Price in with a .500 fighter to make sure he doesn’t get KOed yet again. Take the slow road this time because it’s the last time.

Price has to get his confidence back, but I doubt he can. His last loss displayed a worrying lack of fighting spirit.

Once again using my name and my post never have to do with anything racial. Another way to tell you are a fake, a coward and have no boxing knowledge. Sucks to be you.

Wait a minute , wasn’t Price the hope and dreams of some , including
some of the media ” experts ” as the man to ” dethrone ” a Klitchko ?
Whatever happened to this ? Oh, yeah , he got KTFU TWICE , by the guy whom Wlad KTFU TWICE ! Who the hell is Orlov ?

From world class opponents to Orlov…….now that is a career that’s going in the wrong direction.

Price is white, as such, it is my duty to discredit him in any way possible. I am PEEJ, posting nonsense with a racial flare since 2000, a time when this site was still dominated by discussions of Eastern Euros, the every type of fighters that I love hate. Go figure, eh?

Sorry but when 42 year old Thompson batters you twice, you get stopped as an amateur with headgear on….

Posted November 27, 2013 5:45 pm

PEEJ

Price is not even close to a Holyfield type of fighter. He will not be much in boxing. He has already done what he is gonna do. If he proves me wrong then thats fine but with what I saw against Thompson, he will not be much. Not saying it is easy win medals but the pro game is a whole different story than the olympics.

Will the real PEEJ please stand up?

Posted November 27, 2013 4:39 pm

Mr Gav

Price has done well leaving frank warren. He put him in twice with Thomson then tried to get him in with chisora. That would be a good fight but with chisoras form compared to prices! This shows frank just wanted to milk price rather than build him up over a few years. He Weill do well with the Germans they will promote him slow with lots of weak opponents (expect mike sprot) until he ius ready for better. Training with Adam booth is also a good move he needs a world level trainer and booth now has plenty of time on his hands. So now price has the right team the right management so now its up to price I hope he dose it.

As I said before, he’s heading in the right direction. You don’t win an olympic bronze medal unless you’re a special talent. Look at Holyfield.

Posted November 27, 2013 1:04 pm

PEEJ, HOLYFIELD would have taken Gold if not for KO’ing the KIWI Kevin Barry on the ref calling break. There is no comparison between Holyfield and PRICE. None whatsoever.

Holyfield was a great amateur with a professional fighting style and along with the likes of BRELAND, Jerry Page, Steve McCrory and others, lit up the LA Olympics and hot a whole slew of people interested in boxing…. I can’t say the same for Price.

I’ll be generous and say David Price can still have a future, but only if he takes some lessons on board and like Wladimir Klitschko, he also has to have a boxing makeover to a certain extent. Wlad changed his style. Not exciting, but effective. I think Wlad is naturally a better athlete than David though and a better boxer. It was a mistake for Price to go straight into a Thompson rematch but it’s a good move to change camps, I think. Price should get a few building fights now at a slightly lower level, see how he progresses and take it from there. Price’s heart has to be in it though and he has to be prepared to work hard and listen. Hopefully, he can learn and realise all this from a new training camp who know what they’re doing.

That fight makes much more sense than a bout vs. Chisora. Rebuild your confidence and most of all, learn to protect your chin.

People always wanna use my name, can’t get their own screen name. Terrible. Price will be nothing in boxing. He has already made his claim and that was in the olympics. That is all he is gonna do. Should pick another profession before he gets hurt

Good come back fight. He should take his time with this guy and get at least 5 or so rounds. Koing bums will not give him experience when facing good opponents. He needs to take his time and learn

Posted November 27, 2013 12:56 pm

PEEJ

Price is done. Will not be much as a heavy. Probably should look in another direction. He got him a gold medal which is pretty good but that is about all his boxing career will see in terms of accomplishments

We will see a changed Price in this fight…well how will we really know against a guy this limited.I guess Price needs some tune-up fights, but he needs rounds and real tests so hopefully after 2 of these type of fights we see some real tests.Lets not forget it was these type of fights for to long and being inactive that hurt Price.Maybe two more quick fights on this level, then a Chisora or Adamek..C.A…Solis(if he gets his act together)somebody on this level to see if there is a real change in Price…time will tell.

Jake and the fatman

Good move by Price to join Sauerland and get a new trainer in Adam Booth, after the manner of his two defeats he had to change everything plus its a good idea not to fight in front of his home fans for a while (it might take some pressure off him). Hopefully it works for him as he seems like a good guy

A sensible start back for Price. Not every fight has to be life and death and in the limelight. He needs to rebuild.

Swedish Boxing Fan

Well its great that David price is on the right track and back in the ring again despite his 2 previus KO losses to the former 2-time world heavyweight title challanger and veteran Tony “The Tiger” Thompson. Price haves good development tools to work with and mabey he will achive better things with Sauerland Events. Mabey he will never become a world champion but a good contender in the ranks to test others.
