Guys why is RJJ still fighting Please come on. The dude must be 73 years old. We all remember him the legend, I dont want to see him beaten the crap out of by the likes of Danny Green and whatever other second rate guy can now hand him his ass.
If there is a Mrs RJJ sit your man down and tell him he aint that good anymore you are probably the only one with something to lose when he gets hurt.

Are these older fighters in need of satisfying their own ego?or are they having a hard time letting go of the fame?Roy did not need so many losses on his exceptional glory years record, this just shows these guys are Ego maniacs.

And if he fights Kovalev, he will be gone MUCH quicker.

Something I have noticed recently with these old timers, is 50 years old seems to be their brick wall. I think Hearns fought at 50, but that was a couple years ago, and now you hear nothing from him. Nor do you hear much from Evander Holyfield anymore since he is now 50 or close to it. Some try to make noise while still in their 40s, but when 50 comes knocking, even the most stuborn fighters hang them up. Same for BHOP, he will be gone for good within 36 months.

I loved this cat back in the day but man he is taking risk that are not required. He should just draw his check from HBO and keep it real with Max & Jim.

I hope he will stop if he is ever hurt badly. I still flashback to Milk Dud laying him out on HBO….DAMN Tarver…LOL

I heard Roy commentating a recent Kovalev fight, and I really noticed the degradation in his speech, compared to let say 7 years ago. He can still speak ok, but you can clearly see that his speech is on the decline. I think old timers have a right to fight, and I have no problem with it, but when they start taking a lot of abuse, they need to hang them up.

Maybe over 40′s

Gotta say Id find Jones Jnr v Toney at cruiser weight interesting to watch. I have no problem with these old guys fighting, but think they should fight each other. In fact I’d have legends titles at the traditional old weight classes (to light whatever weight or super weights) for the over 45′s who want to put on fights.

This is NOT funny but rather sad and pathetic … the sanctioning power who sanction this fight is sick… where does anyone get the notion that this fight would create interest with any boxing fan ?? Again SAD Indeed … PEACE… Boxingdictionary.com ..

What’s sad is that most damage you take in boxing doesn’t show up until years after retirement. Roy may already be screwed, but he’s making it more and more probable. If he beats this guy he will probably fight Jones for the title and get decapitated.

Posted December 3, 2013 9:05 pm

Please retire roy!

I have a feeling that he doesn’t spend any money – just wants to compete and enjoys the adulation. Brain damage awaits
