Anonymous wrote, “To Tark : The Rahman that beat Lennox Lewis was in his prime. At that time, he was really good. Things can change in life, if not, Jack Dempsey would still be a champion ” …Really? How many punches did Rahman land on Lewis in their rematch??? Hasim lost every minute of every round before getting knocked out early—and HR was a lot younger than Lewis.. Rahman was never “really good.” He wasn’t that old when he lost to Wladimir and even in his prime the inept John Ruiz outpointed him.. Rahman was never a good boxer but he wasn’t terrible… I think he beats a prime Tommy Morrison, Michael Bentt, or Leon Spinks without any trouble at all.

for rahman to have a chance of winning he got to be in tip top shape and looking to try to land that big right hand of his if not povetkin going to just outwork him idk if he can keep up with povetkin workrate and pace but povetkin defense aint to good so it will be a chance for rahman to land somthing but i see povetkin breaking rahman down to the body wearing him out and stopping him in the later rounds

it going to be a close fight but i think kubrat pulev will pull it off by decsion to me he just the better fighter and mored skilled and better technique then ustinov

big head

kubrat and ustinov fight should be good it like a pick em type of fight ustinov is bigger but kubrat should be more quicker but the size could be a factor ustinov is big and his size alone can wear you down and tired you but if kubrat use his jab and box and give some angles he can make it hard for ustinov to catch him and go to his body to

If Hasim Rahman is confident, hungry, motivated, aggresive and in good condition, I belive Rahman have’s a good chanse to defeat Alexander Povetkin. I wish Rahman will fight Povetkin like he fought Kali Meehan or Corrie Sanders becouse if he fights like that, Rahman will win this fight. Povetkin and his team have viewed Rahman as an opponent who is done and no longer a serius thret and that they did not even put Rahman’s face on the fight poster is just dissresectfull for a former undisputed and 2-time heavyweight champion of the world. I wish Hasim “The Rock” Rahman make Povetkin pay and defeats the fake “world champion” Alexander Povetkin.

I believe Rahman is motivated for this fight because he is b eing disrespected in a major way. You just don’t do that to a former heavyweight champion of the world. This man is a two time champion and you don’t put his face on the program? That’s blatant disrespect and I hope Hasim makes him pay for that. The only concern I have is his weight in the event this fight goes long. Fatigue could become an issue for him again because of it.

If you think rahman will give povetkin serious punishment you know nothing about boxing you tool

Pulev will UD ustinov and really prove himself as he has done previously against Dimentriko. He reminds me of a prime corrie sanders, maybe even better and is a serious contender in the division.

True said. Hasim rahman was a top man then with knocking out legend Lennox Lewis and defeating top fighters like Corrie Sanders, Kali Meehan, Monte Barrett, James Toney (yes he was more colse then Toney to win), David Tua the same etc. Hasim Rahman had a bit of unluckey both times when he fought Oleg Maskaiev and ran out of gas in the late rounds and then got cough with a heavy punch and had not enough energy left tp keep himself up again so simpley is that but Rahman was ahead on the scorecards in both fights so if he never had runed out of gas he would have won both fights.

Is that not a bit hard to say Danske bank? You went a bit to far there in a dissrespectfull way. Sure I will go for Hasim Rahman in his fights but therest was to much. Not cool.

You can’t be serius, Alexander Povetkin is no recognised world champion and Fres Oquendo in a “top fight” with out defeated any lower top man in the league? Well here is the thing now – check your facts, watch some boxing fights, learn something and then comeback. Seriusly don’t write. BTW Hasim rahman will defeat Alexander Povetkin and Fres Oquendo will lose to both men anyway.

To Tark : The Rahman that beat Lennox Lewis was in his prime. At that time, he was really good. Things can change in life, if not, Jack Dempsey would still be a champion (a cruiserweight champion now a days).

Its time to see Alexander Povetkin get some serius punishemtn for avoiding Wladimir Klitschko and Hasim rahman will give that in the ring. Hasim Rahman will hit, he will hurt, he will punish Povetkin and finaly knock him out. Go, go Rahman!!!

Alexander Povetkin vs. Hasim Rahman, a fight that is very mixede in oppinions on sereral levels in and out side the ring but the fight is on and I look forward for this fight in what I wish this fight will turn out to become a slug-fest war between Rahman and Povetkin and they are both heavyweight power punchers so the chanse could be there but that depends a lot on Rahman and his mode and spirit. Rahman have defeated strong opponents in the past and I hope in this fight that Rahman will show his “A-Game” and not allowing to give Povetkin room for attacking.

The 39 year old former undisputed and two-time heavyweight champion of the world Hasim “The Rock” Rahman (50-7-2, 41 KOs) is back in action? Well I truly hope it is true what Rahman and his team members says because this will be Hasim Rahman’s absolutely final “world title” fight and top ranked as well unless this fight ends up in a close decision or in a highly disputed way. If it is like they say, I will even more look forward for this fight with Alexander Povetkin vs. Hasim Rahman because they are both power boxers and the Rahman Team have noted a true point. All fights in the past when people have counted Rahman out, he have proven the opposite and given us a good fight and Rahman haves the tools to put on a contest against the 33 year old 2004 Olympic gold medallist and undefeated Alexander Povetkin. Povetkin is in his physical prime years now and will be overall the better fighter in the ring and haves almost same tools as Rahman, just a bit sharper. But Povetkin is a smarter fighter then he maybe looks and he haven’t counted out Rahman’s advantages because he knows that Rahman got a long time ring experience as a professional and that Rahman have heavy punch-power, good physical strength and an effective heavy jab. Hasim Rahman will be the strongest opponent Povetkin have fought as PRO the career so far and if Rahman is hungry and fired up, Povetkin must count those factors in or an upset will be made here. When in comes down to the physical plan they are close in size with Rahman being 189 cm tall and Povetkin is 188 cm so identical there but Rahman has a good reach advantage with his 208cm against Povetkin’s 191cm so 16cm in advantage for Rahman! When it comes down to look at both fighters previous fights 4 years back to now it is fully to Povetkin’s advantage. Rahman haven’t fought a top man in the heavyweight league since December 13, 2008 against the unified and undisputed world champion Wladimir Klitschko in a contest that lasted 8 rounds and Rahman was out-boxed by Wladimir but then again, Rahman took the fight on a short notice as an late replacement for, exactly Alexander Povetkin so the preparation time was short for Rahman and Wladimir had studied Povetkin’s physical size and style and Rahman filled in as a fine “look-a-like” replacement at that view. Rahman have after that in 4 years only fought 5 times and against journeyman level of opponents that where there just to get KO’d so ring rust is to be worried about for Rahman’s part. Alexander Povetkin have been more busy and fought 8 fights against more quality opponents like Jason Estrada, Leo Nolan, Javier Mora, Cedrick Boswell, Ruslan Chagaev and latest Marco Huck so Povetkin is absolutely in a lot better fight shape based on previous fights and is in his prime so Rahman’s training and sparring hours better have payd-off well or the fight will not last long if Povetkin is going to fight hard. When it comes downt o expearence there is no question here. Sure Povetkin have fought good opponents and fine ones and performed well but then again, Rahman is a former 2-time world heavyweight champion and have a much longer time of ring experience and fought many tough opponents and great ones like Lennox Lewis x2, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko, David Tua x2, John Ruiz, James Toney x2, Corrie Sanders, Trevor Berbick, Monte Barrett, Kali Meehan, Oleg Maskaev x2, Alfred “Ice” Cole, Jesse Fergusson, Dicky Ryan and more so that factor hopefully will prove useful for Rahman. Now to the matter of that the fight is billed as a “world heavyweight title fight” and we all know the answer on that statement. It is NOT A RECOGNISED WORLD TITLE FIGHT!!! We all know Wladimir Klitschko is the true world heavyweight champion since 2006 with having all major world title belts (Lineal, WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO) including the true WBA title and only his older brother Vitali haves the WBC belt, making him as the 2nd possible recognised world champion and Povetkin is a true prove of a “paper champion”. People say that Rahman lost to Wladimir and badly but Rahman at least dared faced Klitschko in the ring and took the fight on a short notice to replace, yes Povetkin and Povetkin have now for 4 years since 2008 when he became the nr.1# ranked mandatory world title challenger to Wladimir choosed to run away from fighting him and today, there is still no fight in the horizon between them in talks and that strengthens a thing or two back when Povetkin got a “regular” WBA title belt, just some week after Wladimir conquered the real WBA title from David Haye so Povetkin haves a “world title belt” and claims to be a real world champion, I mean a title that was “new created” and he never claimed it from the real recognised champion to the belt so the WBA belt Povetkin has is simply regarded as fake or worthless in the eyes of fans and experts. I support and I hope Hasim Rahman wins this fight because I have been a longer time fan of his boxing career and wish he could get a good end of his career with another or 2 top fights before retirement.

Pulev vs Ustinov is an awesome fight. Povetkin vs Rahman is a joke.

Povetkin might fight Wladimir.. The day he’s convinced his own career is over and he’s combed over the tomato can challenger list as much as he possibly can. Then why not go for the biggest money fight he can get and do what Ray Austin did—look for a soft spot on the canvas and melt into it ASAP.. Until that day he won’t fight David Haye.. I can guarantee this because I think Dereck Chisora could beat Povetkin and intimidate the crap out of him.. In fact I believe Wladimir’s next challenger Mari Sue Wach could beat him.. If you turn down 5 million dollars to fight the best heavyweight to make less then 2 million for fighting a guy who hasn’t beaten a top-10 heavyweight in 6 years, that tells you a lot.

Dont underestimate povetkin. He is world c hampion and this will be his third defence. Would love to see him take on fres next.

Too much politics in boxing nowadays. Everyone is afraid to fight someone who is as good as they are. Povetkin will never fight Haye because there is a high chance either one will lose. Vitali will not fight Haye because it is too risky for either one of them. All we see is these old previous era fighters trying to make a buck by fighting young guys who can obviously beat them.

Povetkin sucks.. But not as much as Rahman.. If a 37-year-old China-chinned Oleg Maskaev can beat up and knock Rahman out—in between getting knocked out by Ollie McCall, Kirk Johnson, Goofi Whitaker, and Sam Peter, than I guess Alexander Povetkin can get rid of Rahman pretty easily as well.. Not that Povetkin is any good, or ever will be any good—it’s just that Rahman is so bad … The shot Hasim landed on Lennox Lewis was the equivalent of winning a 350-million dollar lottery jackpot.

Rahman win this one. He has one left in the tank. Plus Povetkin is just a paper champion.

Wlad Fan (The Haters are in Klit Denial!)

Povetkin will NEVER fight Wlad or Vitali… Vitali is (or aleast almost is) ready to hang em’ up and Povetkin’s just passing the time until Wlad retires in 2 or 3 years. The only reason he’s fighting Rahman is because he saw how easily Wlad got rid of him…two years ago… PS: wouldn’t bet on him beating Haye either really

Kostya Tszyu makes this remarkable claim., “Since we started working together, Alexander Povetkin has progressed about 40 percent.” ..Nice work. Povetkin has been boxing for 20 years—and just in the space of one training camp where he’s been exposed to your masterful coaching, he’s 40% better. That’s astounding. Maybe now he’ll fight Wladimir Klitschko or David Haye, or if that’s still way too tough for him, maybe David Price or Bryant Jennings …. Not that I’ll hold my breath.
