Hasim lost every minute of every round before getting knocked out early—and HR was a lot younger than Lewis.. Rahman was never “really good.” He wasn’t that old when he lost to Wladimir and even in his prime the inept John Ruiz outpointed him.. Rahman was never a good boxer but he wasn’t terrible… I think he beats a prime Tommy Morrison, Michael Bentt, or Leon Spinks without any trouble at all. Hasim Rahman will be the strongest opponent Povetkin have fought as PRO the career so far and if Rahman is hungry and fired up, Povetkin must count those factors in or an upset will be made here. When in comes down to the physical plan they are close in size with Rahman being 189 cm tall and Povetkin is 188 cm so identical there but Rahman has a good reach advantage with his 208cm against Povetkin’s 191cm so 16cm in advantage for Rahman! When it comes down to look at both fighters previous fights 4 years back to now it is fully to Povetkin’s advantage. Rahman haven’t fought a top man in the heavyweight league since December 13, 2008 against the unified and undisputed world champion Wladimir Klitschko in a contest that lasted 8 rounds and Rahman was out-boxed by Wladimir but then again, Rahman took the fight on a short notice as an late replacement for, exactly Alexander Povetkin so the preparation time was short for Rahman and Wladimir had studied Povetkin’s physical size and style and Rahman filled in as a fine “look-a-like” replacement at that view. Rahman have after that in 4 years only fought 5 times and against journeyman level of opponents that where there just to get KO’d so ring rust is to be worried about for Rahman’s part. Sure Povetkin have fought good opponents and fine ones and performed well but then again, Rahman is a former 2-time world heavyweight champion and have a much longer time of ring experience and fought many tough opponents and great ones like Lennox Lewis x2, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko, David Tua x2, John Ruiz, James Toney x2, Corrie Sanders, Trevor Berbick, Monte Barrett, Kali Meehan, Oleg Maskaev x2, Alfred “Ice” Cole, Jesse Fergusson, Dicky Ryan and more so that factor hopefully will prove useful for Rahman. Now to the matter of that the fight is billed as a “world heavyweight title fight” and we all know the answer on that statement. It is NOT A RECOGNISED WORLD TITLE FIGHT!!! We all know Wladimir Klitschko is the true world heavyweight champion since 2006 with having all major world title belts (Lineal, WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO) including the true WBA title and only his older brother Vitali haves the WBC belt, making him as the 2nd possible recognised world champion and Povetkin is a true prove of a “paper champion”. People say that Rahman lost to Wladimir and badly but Rahman at least dared faced Klitschko in the ring and took the fight on a short notice to replace, yes Povetkin and Povetkin have now for 4 years since 2008 when he became the nr.1# ranked mandatory world title challenger to Wladimir choosed to run away from fighting him and today, there is still no fight in the horizon between them in talks and that strengthens a thing or two back when Povetkin got a “regular” WBA title belt, just some week after Wladimir conquered the real WBA title from David Haye so Povetkin haves a “world title belt” and claims to be a real world champion, I mean a title that was “new created” and he never claimed it from the real recognised champion to the belt so the WBA belt Povetkin has is simply regarded as fake or worthless in the eyes of fans and experts. I support and I hope Hasim Rahman wins this fight because I have been a longer time fan of his boxing career and wish he could get a good end of his career with another or 2 top fights before retirement.
