Boxing will one day be missed by fans all throughout the world. He has left his mark on boxing that will be cemented forever. Manny Pacquiao is the greatest pure fighter to have ever stepped into the squared circle. He may very well be the greatest fighter of all time, but I must give respect to a few other fighters that stand alongside Manny Pacquiao. One, the great Sugar Ray Robinson, which sits right next to Manny, and the others are Roberto Duran, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard and Julio Cesar Chavez. These are the greatest fighters of all time. They fought their opponents in all areas. They never avoided any challengers, and they wanted to fight the best of their time. They were truly developed fighters that always gave fans their money’s worth, and they will forever be respected as warriors of the ring. Manny Pacquiao slightly edges all of them IMHO. His 8 division titles separates Manny from these ATG fighters. He had more speed, power and athleticism then all of them. Manny Pacquiao would have been favored to beat them on a one fight basis and at the same weight class. Manny’s style cannot be figured out in one fight by anyone. His ferocious style is loaded with feints, speed, power and accuracy. I find it nearly impossible to be able to grasp this legend’s style of fighting in one fight. I give full respect to all of these guys because they are legends, and may have been able to beat Manny Pacquiao, but IMHO, I would pick Manny to beat them. Manny Pacquiao is more than just a fighter. He is a unique, special talent that comes around once in a life time. Adding to his legend is what he’s done outside of boxing. As you may already know, Manny Pacquiao is a popular and successful singer. His outstanding rendition of When We Touch struck the heart and emotions of millions of fans. Manny seems to be able to translate himself from a Predator in the ring to a soft, loving romantic man when singing this outstanding song that has many in tears. I’m constantly amazed at his resiliency to break barriers and conquer politics, boxing, acting, modeling, cooking, clothing designs. Manny gave Kobe Bryant the inspiration to design his popular shoe the Kobe 9. Kobe watched Manny train and was amazed at the grace in which Manny moved inside the ring. Manny Pacquiao inspires the world in general from Presidents to other dignitaries. Manny Pacquiao will surely be missed when he finally hangs up the gloves. We need to appreciate his career. There will never be another one like him. Manny is the best.

Lets see if Khan still has it first like against Mr. Matthysse or Mr. Porter.

In the meantime Floyd needs to fight someone like Lara or Molina.

BRed you misunderstand my comment. I’m not being sarcastic hateful or envious about Floyd’s desire to make money. I was countering Bragga$$wipe’s comment about Mayweather having a right to fight “cupcakes.”

Floyd is an astute businessman, celebrity, and entertainer, as well as a very fine boxer. He’s not fighting Khan because Khan is a “cupcake,” he’s fighting Khan because it’s a good business decision for him. A Mayweather/Khan bout is a very marketable and profitable show. That’s what ShowTime wants and that’s what Floyd wants. So it’s likely going to happen.

Sorry I can’t help you to fulfill your dream of singling out all Floyd haters. You got the wrong guy.

Gentlmen, don’t believe all the rumors you hear. Manny Pacquiao has always been attacked by more than just the other political party, but also from those that want to see Manny Pacquiao fail. There always seems to be so much jealousy and envy for a man like Manny Pacquiao that is a humble, respectful, caring, giving and a loving man of God. He is a target of many that don’t want to see him succeed. The Mayweathers have attacked his character, boxing skills and and ethnicity. They and others could not fathom the idea that this young Filipino that came from poverty with nothing reached the pinnacle of boxing and was doing things never before seen in a boxing ring. Manny Pacquiao not only conquered the boxing world, took over music, acting, modeling and was chosen by the millions of people in his country to be their voice in congress. No athlete ever has accomplished so much, hence, the envy and jealousy. Every time someone wants to attack Manny Pacquiao, they begin with his boxing, but then they take it to a more personal level and attack his character. They attack his faults as a man rather than applaud his honesty and truth and turn around in his personal life as well as in his boxing career. Manny gets stopped by Marquez while his wife and kids are traumatized and people laugh, make jokes and post disrespectful pictures of Manny Pacquiao lying face first. All this man has done is pull himself up from poverty, from the brink of death and made something of himself. He has used his position in life to do good. He is sincere in all that he does, and he never complains, argues or disrespects anyone, yet his continues to be attacked. People want to see him lose all he has earned. Why? because of jealousy and envy. This man should be supported and appreciated for the quality of his character. A man that admits his faults and then corrects them. He is a wonderful husband, father, son and person. Manny Pacquiao is what is good in this world. He makes a great come back fight and those that want to see him fail continue their criticism. They won’t give him credit. Manny Pacquiao has fallen, yes, but he has risen up and will be fine in life inside or outside the ring. The money will always be there, and if it’s not, Manny Pacquiao has seen the worst of life and handled once before. He will surely be able to handle it again if that were to happen, but it won’t because Manny Pacquiao is a Man of God. He will always be okay.

Hidalgo, nothing is wrong with getting the highest paycheck possible. He takes care of his family. You obviously envy Floyd for some odd reason. He works very hard to be were he’s at, and has a great team around him. AL Haymon and Leonard Ellerbee are very smart individuals, ya dig

Ohhh god you people are something else …suddenly you people think Pauli m. Is the best opponent for mayweather ????and please stop with that silly statement that boxer have different “versions ” of themselfs !!!! It’s one boxer and one version the only difference Is who is the opponent in the ring and how prepared they are for the fight !
Now some fanboys use that “version” bs to try and prove their arguments , like the best”version” of Judah was when he fought mayweather … Unbelievable , grow the f.@@@ up!!!!

GTFOH Floyd has fought nothing but cupcakes outside of Canelo and Cotto. With the way his fight with Marquez unfolded Floyd having Marquez come up 2 weightclasses and Floyd not making weight that was a cupcake fight too. In reality Floyd hasn’t fought the top 2 fighters in the divisions he’s considered “champ” of. Dudes a effing gimmick with a legion of blind cult followers who would follow him on to Haleys commet lmao.

Yeah sure, boxster….but how many of those champs that Floyd “beat” did he actually beat without resorting to catchweights?…How many of those champs did he not KO by sucker punch and how many of those “champs” actually cleaned out the division? These stats are dismal at best. Dont let Floyds smoke and mirrors also damage your thinking.

Want to know where porter stand? Lol… goggle porter drop kirkland in sparing, after the nishida lost he was in la.
Where there both were in training for a fight. Kirkland and his old manager ask if they could spar askirland want to know where he stands. So they make arrangements for a sparing section as many round as he wants, porter has fought heavy weight before.
They come over and kirkland is acting tough and get porter angry.
They both get sparing and they both go all out and it’s a bad fight.
Porter is taking kirland shots and returned it. Porter is eating Kirkland up and get his nose bleeding, after 4, round porter say he had enough it’s a work out, James will not let him go and want to go some more sayba few stupid thing and get porter to want to knock James out. They fight each other 4 more round and in the 8 round porter drop kirkland with a counter hard right. After 8 porter trainer say that enough sparing.
Goggle it.

i think one fighter that could proably test lara and even have a chance of beating him is demetrius andrade cause andrade is a tall rangy southpaw with fast hands and a good jab and footwork he more athlectic then austin trout and more quicker and he throw more punches combinations and more slicker i think that will be better then the trout fight more competive

yeah that will be the best bet for lara if he cant get canelo or cotto fight carlos molina i think lara gotten better and more experience since the first time they fought this time i think he can beat molina i think the first time lara slept on molina kinda took him lighthy he didn know what to expect from molina but i think molina will still be tough to deal with but if lara counters molina everytime he rushes in i think he will win he cant let molina just hold him and outwork him lara got to use his footwork and counter punching keep him at bay make it hard for him to get on the inside and kep turning him so i think lara will win this time but the fight itself wont be exciting

I cant agree with Garcia on your list Tark. He struggled against Judah in his last fight and Khan is the only other name on his resume. Can you imagine what Lara would do to Zab ? I will concede that Garcia is more deserving of a shot than Khan but isnt Floyd the 147 and 154 lb champion? He should fight people in his division , not jr welterweights. Any fights other than May vs Pac or May vs Lara are cherry picks.

Khan? Thurman? Loads of fire power between these weights.

Floyd has to fight Lara, Pacquiao, or Garcia next… Fighting Khan would definitely be a cherry-pick move because everybody knows Lara takes Khan out in the first round … It’s not even a fight promoters would make it would be such a ridiculous mismatch.

Floyd won three (3) world titles at 154 so there’s no excuse to duck Lara.

Surely Lara vs Mayweather is a better fight than Khan vs Mayweather. I would imagine the bookies would have the odds a lot closer.

Posted December 8, 2013 6:15 pm

Besides, the reason Lara, Rigondeaux, Abril and the rest of the Cuban contigent don’t need to fight 40 professional fights is due to their amateur backgrounds. Floyd never fought 400 of those fights and that’s why these Cubans are a force to be reckoned even with such “little” professional experience. It’s too bad Rigodeaux is unable to face Floyd at Floyd choice of weight because for sure…Floyd’s 0* would go!!

Posted December 8, 2013 6:13 pm

Same old BS

Why are people talking about Lara vs Canelo. Canelo was easily outboxed by the smaller , orthodox Mayweather. Lara would box him to pieces.

Why arent people talking about Lara vs Mayweather ( who is the 154 lb champ , not Alvarez ) ?

Its about time Floyd faced someone who has some boxing skill instead of the slow Mexicans he keeps fighting.

Lara has the best style to beat Mayweather out of anyone in the 147-154 pound classes.

Sreddy….the reason floyd has been boxing at an “obscene” level as you say is that Floyd has been fighting chumps for the larger part of this career along with a healthy dash of catchweights and presto, Sreddy is star struck over Floyd’s smoke and mirrors…something that usually only occurs during adolescence some how hits a “grown” man.

If this so called writer is going to make a point of Lara “running” he must first point out ALL the times Floyd has done so and he is still for some reason fighting on Showtime. If the phrase Floyd uses “hit and not be hit” is fitting for him, guess what, it’s fitting for anyone else including Lara, which I sure Floyd wouldn’t have the heart to face much less the testicular fortitude without some catchweight. The question now is, out of all the better opponents at 147, why would Floyd seriously consider fighting A Mere Con? Answer….winnable fight and no real challenge.

Big Head, This is the third time ive seen Lara fight. I seen the robbery against Paul Williams, The Angulo fight and now the Trout fight. If he fights Canelo the way he fought last night, I think he could win. He also has good footwork like you said. Im not sure if Golden Boy will be eager to make the fight, when they can make bigger money with Canelo vs Cotto on PPV. I think Golden Boys next move is to set up Canelo vs Cotto and than have Lara vs Molina on the undercard

I don’t want Cotto anywhere near Lara he’s the best jmw and Cotto never had the size to really compete at the top of the division. Cotto can find some winable matchups but Laras a special boxer who would also have the size advantage.

canelo do got power and he strong and angulo did knock lara down twice so u got to keep that in mind but canelo style kinda suits lara tho cause canelo dont throw alot of punches he more of a boxer then a pressure fighter canelo can box but he will be able to outbox lara that the questions but canelo is a good counter puncher tho i think the angles of lara going to cause him problems lara footwork is better

who would i pick outta of lara or canelo man that a hard one to choose cause even tho canelo lost to mayweather i think he come back better he still young so i think he will still be a force at 154 canelo beat trout but he proably didn beat trout like lara did tho i think canelo could of did it tho if didn get a lil tired in that fight he had full control of the fight but he let trout get back in the fight in some rounds and trout did better in the canelo fight then he did in the lara fight that dont mean that going to decide who going to win the fight between the two as far as who i would pick right now i would have to say lara i think the footwork of lara going to cause canelo problems and that sneaky left hand of his to

It’s safe to say: Trout has doubts after last nights fight…

Posted December 8, 2013 2:43 pm

I feel bad for Trout, he got a BIG win and was unable to really capitalize on it beyond getting a payday against Canelo… Now he has booked 2 losses in a row and Lara made him look a step behind last night… He is a damn good fighter but his lack of power is striking me as an issue, flicking that jab and not landing crisp shots is gonna make his life hard… Against Cotto he was facing a small Jr MW who he was clearly bigger and stronger than… The other players at the weight know he is tough but can be hurt… He is gonna have to get a bit meaner in there to my eye…. If Lara was nastier I really think Trout was there to be stopped, he was hurt for real last night…

Posted December 8, 2013 2:40 pm

SREDMOND

Paulie has topped out as far as upside, he is a World Class opponent but I agree he is not gonna hold a legit title for long… He cannot punch and a strong fighter can always walk him down… Its good to see him get in position for some good paydays because a step up against a heavy puncher with decent speed spells trouble… Paulie is NEVER sharing a ring with Mayweather he has no perception of a chance and beating a SHOT Judah is not gonna change anyones mind….

Posted December 8, 2013 2:35 pm

Tough call because I still don’t see Paulie beating a top ww. He has lots of options though but not Floyd the only interest in that fight is what account can Paulie make of himself. Outside of that he can test all the upconing wws and have viable rematches with Broner snd Kahn. But again Paulies not winning any legitimate tittles.

Mayweathers ability to stand in the pocket and NOT get hit is superior to Lara’s I mean I know we JUST saw Lara perform in an excellent manner last evening but lets not get carried away he does NOT even have 25 bouts under his belt Floyd has been boxing at an obscene level for 17 years its not realistic to put his acumen alongside the OLDER Mayweather who is still not taking clean head shots…

Hidalgo, I saw plenty of fire in Malignaggi last night this was a crossroads fight for both veteran boxers and Judah showed ABSOLUTELY no desire to win its the SAME Judah that has been showing up since Cotto beat him down after that his heart and will have been inconsistent… I take nothing from Malignaggi, its the job of a fighter to take advantage of his opponents mental and physical weaknesses… Paulie had the faster hands, GREATER will and commitment… Judah was frankly pathetic given the fact that Malignaggi is known as a soft puncher…

Posted December 8, 2013 1:45 pm

Tomato Can

Hidalgo you could be a 100 percent right regarding PM/Judah… PM made that fight look easy… But that still was the worse version of Judah, I ever seen, you can say that was all PM’s doing, and be right about that. but to me Judah looked like an old fighter in there. So where does Judah go from here? He’s nothing more than a gate keeper from here on out IMO. And PM is a clear step above that for the time being.

Posted December 8, 2013 1:44 pm

Hidalgo

SRedmond, unlike some of the Paulie haters on here, you give Paulie credit when he’s due the credit. But the issue with Judah last night wasn’t that Judah didn’t want to make the effort, it was that Paulie took that desire out of him by outsmarting and outboxing him. Judah just didn’t have anything to fight Paulie with.

I mean really, this is the same Zab Judah that gave Danny Garcia a helluva fight just a few months ago. But he could barely do squat against Paulie. This is because he couldn’t deal with Paulie’s speed, style, slickness, and ring smarts.

Paulie deserves full credit for this win.

REM, do you mean that Lara would “expose Floyd” the way that Marquez has Pacquiao for “4 fights” and smashed him into the canvas?? Lara is a SMOOTH boxer he really is a talented fighter there is no question about that, but he has slipped on the dime he was getting battered by a SUPER crude fighter like Angulo and we all saw Molina…. Don’t get me wrong, Lara is a terrific boxer but alas as USUAL Mayweathers the King pushing 37 and has the planet gunning for him and hes UNDEFEATED…. Lara was impressive beating Trout, meanwhile Floyd already SCHOOLED the guy who relieved Trout of his “0″ and he did it EASY spotting the kid 15 pounds of muscle….There will always be “A next guy” until Floyd retires or loses”…..

So wasn’t I right about porter taking the belt? But thank Alexander for giving porter a chance, knew his mistake right away, porter was a fighter who was avoided faster than khan and has a good combinations, he short and short arm but he know how to availed counter by dropping down inside and unloading, mixing this up too. He has a longer undefeated record than Floyd as he has never lost for over 210 fights now, way back before the Olympic day as a amateur, well his time has come, he has a way to adjust and keep wining that make him special.

Posted December 8, 2013 1:32 pm

Hidalgo

BTW, a Mayweather/Lara fight would be a helluva chess match. But they’d have to remove the ropes from around the ring so both fighters could back-pedal all night. After all, these are two “defensive masters” and they need lots of room to roam.

Posted December 8, 2013 1:30 pm

SREDMOND

Malignaggi seems very energized now that he is an Al Haymon fighter and has some good paydays to look forward to… I give Malignaggi credit for coming to win, Zab Judah is a guy who has become VERY comfortable losing fights he has the SAME story after every bout, he is ALWAYS looking at the ref for help… Truth is that Judah has been living off his name for quite awhile, he is a stepping stone fighter if ever there was a guy he should have been somewhat reckless with and let his hands go against its Paulie and he simply could not make the effort..This is the part of a boxers career where he starts to REALLY let the brain damage accumulate if he keeps fighting…. Judah has NO business in Big fights after that performance… Good for Malignaggi!

Posted December 8, 2013 1:29 pm

It kills me that Lara back pedals all night against Trout, but he gets lauded for his “elite” boxing skills.

Rigondeaux, although he dominated Agbeko, was content to just pot shot away and never could muster a big enough offense to get the kill, yet he gets lauded for his “elite” boxing skills.

Malignaggi, just totally overwhelmed Judah, who gave Danny Garcia one helluva fight and a fairly good beating to boot, and people are criticizing Paulie for his performance or making excuses for Zab’s bad performance.

C’mon folks! Paulie won that fight with skills! He had better scores on the judges score cards than Garcia did against Judah. That’s pretty damned impressive.

Kirkland is a crude fighter who will never be confused with a defensive specialist, that said he is TOUGH and he his a physical specimen… He is a hard out and if a guy decides to trade with him its often a disaster…

“Paulie did everything right, but Zab either became an old fighter last night, or he took a dive. ”

No need to search for answers that don’t exist Tomato Can. You know darn well that Zab didn’t take a dive. Paulie outboxed him and frustrated him into defeat. Paulie fought a smart fight, Zab wasn’t prepared for him and that’s that.

This is what often happens to fighters who think they are too strong and too tough to get beat by a light-hitting, but highly-skilled boxer.

Really, Paulie deserves all the cred he can get for this fight. He fought a damned good fight against the guy who just recently did some serious damage to world champion Danny Garcia.

Judah, didn’t have an off night, he didn’t throw the fight, he wasn’t skinny, weak–blah, blah, blah, he didn’t become old overnight, etc. Paulie was just better.

It was right there on the television in front of everyone’s eyes. No further proof, justification, or excuses are needed. Or warranted.

Boxtra why do you want to see Floyd and khan fight? It’s a no contest, a khan too afraid to Throw much, a khan collect the cash lost and thank you. Boring… He on a down hill, he has no determination to win, he look so lost in his last fight, and he has slow down. Paulie would give a good performance he over perform as he did in the last 3 fights everybody taught he have no chance and he surprise, who knows he might give Floyd the best fight ever, as they don’t care about light punches as long as they connect it’s points and paulie is very accurate jab and counter and very busy, don’t give up, and don’t get ko, cotto, borner, daias, paulie deserve and has earn a shop more than khan who on a down hill, and paulie on a up hill.

Peej Kirkland got saved in the Molina fight and was recieving a boxing lesson. Kirkland is the worse of the top jmws. Molinas garbage you gotta be kidding did you see his performance against Lara compared to Trouts. Molinas another dude that came up hard I hope Canelo fights Molina who will teach Canelo how to box.

Lara is not elite. People tried to fight Vanes but he kept turning fights down, people where fighting Angulo, as for Molina well he should of gotten the nod against Lara. And Molina is garbage. So no Lara is not elite. And like I said I would like to see him and Kirkland mix it up. Heck Lara was on his way to being KOd by Angulo if Angulos eye didn’t swell up like that.

HAHAHA!! WHAT?? Zab fought Paulie as a welter but fought Garcia as a jr,.welter. Now you’re claimingZab looked skinny? OMG!

Paulie didn’t look good? He blew Judah out of the water. You laud Rigo for his boxing skills but you won’t give credit to Paulie when he wins a fight with his boxing skills?

You thought Paulie would need some kind of gift to beat Judah but he did it all on his own, and by better scores than Garcia did who got fairly beat up by Zab.

Get over it. Your boy lost. Badly. To a superior boxer.

A. Direll has a lot of work to do. He could have been the first guy to stop Bika, instead he let Bika tee off on him against the ropes too much. The draw was deserved IMO.

Congrats to Paulie on becoming the Brooklyn king. That had to be the worse version of Zab, I’ve ever seen. Paulie did everything right, but Zab either became an old fighter last night, or he took a dive. I just think he couldn’t pull the trigger because of PMs speed advantage. But really that was a poor performance by Judah. Hopefully he’ll hang them up.

Kirkland broke down and beat the snot out of Tapia, the ref did a poor job of breaking the two up to stop the fight. Man Tapia could have gotten killed. The corner should have thrown in the towel. Is Kirkland back? I’ll probably keep betting him to lose, but he can still crack.

Whar more does Lara have to do smh. Lara is truly elite because he came up the hard way fighting the very best at jmw. Dudes don’t want to fight the llikes of Angulo, Vanes and Molina but Lara had to in order to prove himself because he has no fanbase. Lara imo has earned his like Ward unlike a lot of dudes that are supposenly elite.

Being the best of a division does not make you elite. No I don’t consider Canelo elite either. There really is not elite fighters at 154. I would though take Kirkland over Lara if they fought. I think Kirkland hits much harder than Angulo and he could get him out of there. Now if Lara landed first there is no telling if Kirkland would stay up but if he did I would take him in KOing Lara.

What is means the “top elite” for you?

Canelo?…the most overreacted boxer (I am sorry robot) in the last 10 years…or Julio C. Chavez, Jr…or Trout…?

Lara is by far the best 154 lbs, and only Floyd may beat him..

Alvarez had never beaten anyone worth their weight in piss. He’s a hype job that the Mayweather’s PR team of spin merchants built up to be something he never was in order to milk the casual fan dry for their hard earned dollars. This is how Mayweather operates. It’s a tried and tested model that he’s been fleecing you all with for years. He himself has admitted this is how they operate and his carefully constructed meticulously calculated minimal risk/maximum approach with his selection of opponents attests to it in resounding fashion.

The WBC did every thing in their power to ensure Alvarez became a world champion and when he did so they boosted him up on a diet of undeserving stiffs and cans with the odd once great but now completely shot and defunct fighter thrown in to dupe the casuals into thinking he was actually taking on credible opposition.

Then they stepped it up to phase 2, raising the bar by stinking him in there with Austin Trout, but once again it wasn’t quite as big a step up as it appeared on paper because Trout was also the product of hype too. The only really legitimate opponent he’d beaten was a badly battle-worn and faded Miguel Cotto. The worst part about all this is Alvarez could’n’t even get past that ”step up” without the aid of the crooked judges.

Alvarez was never what these parasitic leeches lead you to believe he was. Mayweather opponents never are. They build them up to be killers but in reality there’s more hype to them than there is actual substance. It’s totally illusory and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll stop allowing these leeches to fleece you and play you like fools.

The mighty Amir Con is next in line. I wonder when or rather if the penny will ever drop?

I liked Porter during the evening’s boxing show, I think Paulie should retire and this fight with Judah was simply an exhibition, I Liked LARA
but a bit too much defense , Trout is in his final days as a fighter, So is Alexander, the end is near… Derrill has much talent and will come into his own in the next year or two But, I thought he did enough to win his fight. He has much to offer, I didn’t care for Bika’s style and way he fought. It was more like a street fight, put him in there with Porter who will KO him right off, The sleeper of the night without any doubt, is Porter, a throw back fighter to the likes of Frazier, Marciano and Iron Mike Tyson…this kid is going to be great, A fight with GGG or Canelo would be out right war…Aside from the farce with Paulie and Zab, the night was a night of great fighting … Great job Show time … PEACE … Boxingdictionary.com

Saying beating Khan would be superior to beating Canelo is revisionist and makes no sense.. Alvarez had never lost and certainly not been stopped during his career, he was Unified Champ at 154 whereas people are so taken with those fast hands of Khans that keep getting him into trouble, Alvarez is more dangerous than Khan, Floyd can handle fast hands he took care of Judah back when Zab had a lot more left…At The end of the day Khans quick and he’s in with a much older fighter but it’s possibly Floyd Mayweather and that spells trouble..

Mayweather does whatever it takes to WIN. I remember when most people SAID he would RUN before the Mosley Fight but NOPE he stood his ground and got his respect and even ended UP taking the Fight TO Mosley. That’s what he’s going to DO to the physically WEAKER Khan. Floyd just got done preparing to face a strong Top 10 P4P 170lber. The Khan Fight is going to be a CAKEWALK for him.

Posted December 8, 2013 6:18 am

May will beat khan fairly easy remember khan has been whupped on by some much lower level fighters. I would really like to see Broner vs Pac rather than Bradley vs Pac even though Bradly could win on points the fight would not be as exciting due to the fact Bradley has no KO power. Broner on the other hand would make it really interesting.

Posted December 8, 2013 6:16 am

Adrian

Ray Ray ,again khan is not like the rest who are slower and can be dominated with pot shots from outside , and I can guarantee you it won’t be a lopsided ud win for floyed if they fight a tactical fight because khan is the toughest opponent for mayweather for that kind of the fight .

Ohhhhh and boxtradomus you say mayweather would be in khan chest ??? To do that mayweather would be willing to risk of being hit to get inside khan , you think he would do that ??? Lol I doooont think so because that’s a gamble and mayweather don’t gamble

I am not like some floyed fans who attack PAC’s opponent no matter who he fights and call them shot or “tailor made ” for him to call khan a not worthy opponent without any chance instead i tell it how I truly think about a boxer …in fact if mayweather takes this fight with khan and dominate him I will give him a ton of credit and I would personally grade it the best win of him outside the wins against cotto and Oscar , it is a very intriguing fight and I will pay to watch it ,the first for me ti pay a mayweather fight :)

Mayweather is NO dummy. He knows that he’s stronger than Khan and he knows that Khan can’t handle pressure in his chest. Floyd says that he doesn’t watch tape but he just says that to throw his opponents OFF by having them not try to fix their weaknesses. Khan LOST to Peterson because he couldn’t handle the chest pressure SO he pushed OFF more than a girl that doesn’t want to give UP the puzzy. Floyd is going to BULLDOG Khan and WIN but British BULLDOGG-ED stoppage

Floyds 2 smart 4 khan……and do u think Floyd is Slow?….yoy prevously just told me all I need 2 no. Once Khan gets hit he stands and tries 2 throw down…..oh well…..its all well and good 2 have plan A plan B or C but it all changes once u get hit, old habbits die hard….And he will get hit ob the chin at some stage.

Posted December 8, 2013 5:36 am

Ray Ray

When have u ever seen Floyd chasing? Or not fighting his way? If khan trys 2 fight like Floyd it will b boring as watching paint dry, and Floyd will still win. Floyd with o lopsided UD or late stoppage.

Posted December 8, 2013 5:31 am

Adrian

Ray Ray , I am not saying khan is better overall as a boxer then mayweather but styles make fights my friend and khan is a worst match up for floyed ….. If you think khan has a weak chin that can’t a punch you and a lot who thinks that are making a big mistake , khans weakness is his strategy and pride because when he gets hit hard instead of cowering and hold to recover he starts and trades ….that’s his he lost to Garcia and almost lost a fight with Maidana .

If mayweather presses the fight and start chasing khan he will be in big trouble and lose the fight even by a ko because khans hands speed and decent power that he posses but I don’t see mayweather doing that because he knows that ,he is smart instead I see mayweather fighting from outside but having a lot of trouble wining rounds against khan because of khans Speed . But the notion that khan will be a “walk in a park “fight for mayweather is a a big mistake .
We will see …

Porter would murder Paulie… but that doesn’t mean he’s a good fighter yet.. He’s sloppy as Hell.. He has to keep that jab, footwork, and combination punching going for 12 rounds without constant clinching… The referee should have taken points from Alexander.. DA ruined the fight with all his grabbing.. Porter tried to keep punching through most of the grabbing — but he was getting sloppier and sloppier …

Lara stayed sharp throughout… Lara learned 3 things from the Canelo-Trout fight… Trout cannot lead… Trout cannot attack… Trout is soft.

Ray Ray

Tark agree….Lara is a very worthy foe…if Floyd cant fight manny/Bradley next best options are Lara at jr middle or Garcia at welter.

Posted December 8, 2013 3:49 am

TARK

Lara was the best fighter on the New York card… Floyd has a real opponent at 154. Trout landed a lot more punches than Canelo, but got hit harder and suffered more damage over 12. lara landed much harder, and landed a lot more as well … Trout, who beat Cotto as badly as Floyd beat him, couldn’t do a damned thing with Lara, who’s improving with each fight … Lara busted Trout’s big mouth up.

Paulie didn’t look good—rather Zab looked weak, slow, light, skinny, small, frail, flaccid, lethargic, indolent, powerless, eggshell soft, and puppy tame.

Porter was the 2nd best fighter on the New York card — but he lost form and got sloppier round by round… He was landing the jab, left hook, and right hand early, but he started grabbing and brawling and getting sloppy. How many times do referees need to be told that clinching IS holding… Clinching IS a damned foul… If I’m the referee, I call time—and start taking points after the 5th clinch of any round… There’s NO reason to give clinching deferential treatment among fouls… The fans are supposed to see a boxing match—not a wrestling match or hug fest.

Alexander was doing most of the clinching—but Porter needs to watch Rigondeaux-Agbeko 1000 times…

He’ll realize you don’t need to clinch when you miss… you don’t need to clinch when you land… and you don’t need to clinch because the other guy clinches…or tries to clinch. The way Rigondeaux moves, dips, feints, throws, and deflects your efforts, and the number of decoy punches he throws out there, befuddles his opponents so much he rarely needs to clinch. In the Cuban system they make you box without clinching—and that’s one reason they’re so durable. They don’t spend half the round grabbing and getting broken by the referee so they have to box more.

Posted December 8, 2013 3:45 am

I SAID that Lara was more SKILLED than Trout and I was CORRECT. I give props to Trout for not being afraid of facing the BEST. Some guys such as Sturm and Chris John won’t DO it. I don’t know where Trout goes now though. Maybe he should try to shoot for Carlos Molina.

I think Khan vs Pauly at 147 would be a much closer fight now. Paulie might outwork him. But Khan is a better matchup because he has comparable speed and his weakness is to big punchers and pauly is not a big puncher. The thing is though nobody wants to see Khan Malignaggi 2. There is no reason to make that fight. They are both in the running to fight Floyd. But right now Pauly has the better claim for the fight. Honestly you know who Khan should try and fight if he wants to make a big name for himself. Tim Bradley. I think there is unfinished business there.

Boxtra, you also need a chin to beat Floyd Mayweather. Has punch stat come up with a statistic to account for Khans chin in comparison to Malingnaggi’s? Momentum and “what have you done lately” mean alot in boxing. Pauly looks good now. Khan looked terrible his last time out. I almost think Khan is fighting at such a poor level right now that they do not want to risk taking any fight other than Mayweather. Kinda like how Lamon Brewster would not take a tune up before his rematch with Wladimir because they new Brewster was shot and could lose to any top ten guy and they wanted to cash out the name value he had left.

People SAY that you need a jab to beat Floyd and Khan’s jab is BETTER than Malignaggi’s. Compubox of Khan vs. Malignaggi agrees with ME on that.

Paulie’s WIN raises Khan’s stock.

Khan already showed that he is SUPERIOR to Malignaggi. You need a punch to BEAT Khan and IF you don’t have that then you need alot of BULLDOG in you like Bradley. Paulie has neither. Khan is the BETTER opponent.

I’ve never been sold on Alexander and frankly speaking the guy exaggerates his accomplishments too often. Calling yourself the great and getting beat up like tonight is truly pathetic. Now he should just call himself Alexander “the lame”.

I agree.. Paulie vs may weather.. Give the kid a shot.. He’s earned it.. So what he isn’t a puncher but at least Paulie doesn’t fold like a lawn chair when he gets hit..This kids jab was like a laser beam tonight, and he fights all 12 rounds… I don’t know about you guys but Paulie has a helluva lot more balls than khan does, and I sure as hell won’t shell out 60 bucks for may weather vs khan..

Paulie is a top 5 welterweight imo. Khan is no longer a top 140lber and has done nothing to gain a top 10 WW ranking. Zab amazes me that people still think he has “it” . Truth is he looked absolutely terrible against DAnny Garcia. He was nearly run out of the ring and then he landed a lucky punch that got him into the fight late. He also landed a lucky punch a few years ago against Kaiser Mabuza to salvage his career. Zab has not had heart and aggression on a world class level since the second Corey Spinks fight. I say this because i have been duped by him before. Never again. Zab is not super.

Hidalgo my friend, Malignaggi did very well against an old, heartless, scared, Mr tough acting, could never beat any top guys ever. Malignaggi will still never beat any quality fighter because he’s not very good. He won tonight, good for him but bad for me because I have to put up with him some more. he’ll get on Show Time and tell everyone about how great he is and how he deserves a big fight against Broner, Mayweather, or Bradley, and we all know he has no chance. Unfortunately, he now has Al Haymon, the same guy he used to bad mouth and tell everyone how corrupt he was. Now he becomes a hypocrite and signs with haymon because he will find a corrupt way as usual to put him in a big money fight while the rest of the legit boxing contenders go nowhere. The sad state of boxing continues.

This was the best Pauly has looked since the first N’Dou fight. He looks hungry and a but stronger. The weight seems to be good for him. Looks more like a real welterweight. Zab looked like the smaller guy. What was most impressive is Pauly maintained his stamina and handspeed right till the end. No rest periods and no dip in reflex speed. As crazy as this might sound i think he actually has a fair claim to fight mayweather. Khan has absolutely no business fighting floyd after having gone life and death with Julio Diaz. As if we are supposed to forget that. He seems to really be coming unglued in the ring. IMO Khan mayweather should not be made unless Khan fights and beats a top ten 147lber and looks decent doing so.

Sorry to break it to you fellas but in the Broner fight Paulie looked really weak like he can’t even crack an egg. If Broner has adjusted well to 147, it may actually be a short night for Paulie. The Maidana fight will say alot about how well Broner has adjusted. Personally, I can’t stand Broner and I wish someday someone humiliates him but Paulie ain’t that person and Maidana is just too slow and too open.

Not bad mouthing nor dissing Alexander, but it was easy to predict that his reign was going to be a short one. I didn’t pick Shawn because I considered him so superior, but basically because I thought Devon was a rather overrated commodity. As he continues to face the top welters his loses will become more frequent but don’t be fooled, he has a few good wins left in him as well. I wish him well.

Ray Ray , the only guy that can fight from the outside with floyed is khan mark my word, khan has speed and a decent reach , khan has problem with pressure fighters who can take punches well and hit hard just like Garcia or mathyse who I am summer would beat khan too but mayweather is not that type if a fighter and if mayweather tries and pressure khan watch for the upset , I am not saying khan is better but he does have a better chance than most do of beating mayweather. .

Adrian-so your saying khan is a complete fighter not just all out aggressive such as Hatton, ortiz etc. If Khan thinks hes beating Mayweather at his own game he is already in trouble. Atleast the aggressive all out attack guys dont let Floyd control the action all the time. If Khan sits back and lets Floyd decide the pace and control the middle of the ring hes in 4 a very long night…..that and his glass chin wont help him.

Posted December 8, 2013 2:03 am

Hec Dog

I guess you Malignaggi fans believe that cracker jack belt they gave him means something right? This is such a bad state of boxing as two pathetic fighters were pitted against each other, and they were the main event. Smart boxing fans understand that this fight mean nothing. Malignaggi had the audacity in his post fight interview to say that this fight was between two world class fighters? What was he talking about? Wher were these world class fighters? I watched two world class bums. One wore a white dress and threw flickering feather punches at a guy that offered nothing, but fear, a big mouth and actually said in his post fight interview that malignaggi didn’t want to fight and moved well as he boxed? Brain damage for sure as I saw Malignaggi force the action. Judah has always been a heartless joke. Al Haymon told Malignaggi that if he won this fight, which meant nothing, that he would get big things. Hmm….Why would that be Mr Haymon. Both of these bums aren’t ranked and haven’t beaten anyone in years so I guess you and your corrupt ways will find a way to fix things as usual. I noticed that the fans were booing, and seconds after the fight, the arena was empty. Malignaggi and Judah embarrassed themselves, New York, the arena and all true boxing fans. Rigondeaux vs Agbeko and every other fight on TV was so much better and meant more than this pathetic fight. I guess cities can now make up their own belts and give them to fighters o they can feel like they’re real champions. Pathetic and disrespectful to this great sport. Malignaggi will go on as usual, run his mouth like he just won a world title, and his commentating crew will continue to lie about to him about how good he is knowing he’s horrible. There really should be a law tht doesn’t allow these type of circus acts to happen on tv. These fights hurt boxing and it’s reputation. This fight meant nothing. These two guys should have fought in their backyard and leave boxing for good. All the under card fights were decent. People appreciated them. Big Mouth Malignaggi vs Heartless Judah was simply pathetic.

Remember I said porter is going to take Alexander down? For speed porter is up their, faster that khan, I seen both fighting the same fighter tube poter is way faster and busier.
Only thug wrong about him is he short and has shorter arms but he mix his punches very well. Anyway watch he on his way up, and like I said he unbeaten for over 210+ fights from amateur days, so he has the same drive to adapt and win fights. That not what everyone has and he still getting better.

I told you Canelo and Trout were rubbish. Stupid gullible Flomos tried to hype Canelo up like he had something but he ain’t nothing but a media creation. Thank you Lara for proving me right EMPHATICALLY!!

Floyd wouldn’t have fought him if he was dangerous.

Golovkin is dangerous. But he’s too big for Floyd even though he’s actually a little smaller than Canelo. bwahaha

TARK took Trout. I always tried to explain to him that Trout is LESSER than what HE THINKS he IS. Cotto LOSING to Trout was an ANOMALY. Cotto didn’t think MUCH of Trout and didn’t even train hard for him. Trout is a GOOD Boxer but he’s not GREAT. Lara is a GREAT Boxer. Paul Williams and Austin Trout agree with ME on that.

Me, I like Anthony DIrrell well enough – this was an exciting fight, even if he acted the c.u.n.t at the end celebrating when he CLEARLY lost.

Andre, I think is an utter waste of athletic ability. Give that handspeed to anyone in the top 10 and they would run the division and destroy everyone.

GIve it to Dirrell and you get a potshotting runner who never fights, fakes injuries, and generally stinks up the sport.

Direll sucks, maybe he should retire cause that was about the lamest effort I have ever seen. Ward, froch, anyone else good would be this clown.

Because of the point deduction, I had Direll 114-113. However, He let Bika out rough him, and showed inexperience. Still not bad for a guy coming off of cancer and a motorcycle accident. Good for Bika, he sure was happy with the draw!!! LOL…… one fight down, and one fight picked wrong: I had Direll, by UD/TKO, he almost got it, but not quite….

Bika won that. Dirrell is a byatch like his brother. Stupid fool doing a victory lap a running out the clock like he deserved to win.
