Sturm won’t even have a world title if he doesn’t rematch soliman. The ibf granted geale and barker title defences while soliman (who has been ranked ibf number 1 for 2 years) was serving his 9 month ban handed out from German boxing authorities. Nobody has fought a ibf middleweight mandatory defense since sturm lost to geale. If a rematch with sam was to happen anywhere other than Germany he wouldn’t stand a chance.Posted February 1, 2014 6:30 am
good for macklin looking for a job. sturm should give him a shot.Posted December 13, 2013 11:57 pm
Maybe if GGG stopped running and ducking the Middleweight champions and contenders he could become undisputed. GGG is a name dropper of fighters who are injured or booked for fights. He uses that as an excuse to say everyone is avoiding him. So he goes and fights blown up Welters and Jnr Middles to keep the illusion of him being some indestructible power punching machine. You’re all being fooled by his smoke and mirrors campaign. He didn’t even win his trinket and had to have it given to him. The hype train has slowed but there are still suckers on board. Chooooooo Choooooooo!!!Posted December 13, 2013 5:43 pm
shame GGG was not about back in the day. when we had that great word in boxing UNDISPUTED.Posted December 13, 2013 3:51 pm
ANy middleweight not intending to fight GGG is just treading water. STurm can go f.c.u.k. himsefPosted December 13, 2013 3:42 pm
There’s some pure sh;te getting spewed on here. Off corse he’s talking a world title shot if he can get ot, he can fight Lee anytime. ffsPosted December 13, 2013 1:41 pm
Macklin would win AGAIN, but it wouldn’t help him. Unless he beheads Sturm in the ring, he won’t win a decision in Germany vs. Sturm. Sad but true.Posted December 13, 2013 1:33 pm
He couldn’t be much worse than Dismal Darren and his arthritic hip!Posted December 13, 2013 12:12 pm
Right now, Matthew Macklin doesn’t warrant a rematch against Sturm. He would need to get a notable win or two. Murray or Andy Lee would be ok. Macklin did go the distance with Sturm though who just disposed of Barker quickly, so maybe Sturm might want clear up any doubts about the first fight. Sturm doesn’t seemingly want any part of Golovkin who is the main man at 160 these days now Sergio is inactive.Posted December 13, 2013 12:09 pm
macklin. c level at best.Posted December 13, 2013 10:45 am
I thought Sturm offered Macklin a rematch after there first fight.
Macklin, Hahaha, what a joker. He got ruined by Martinez and then his limp corpse was finished off by GGG. Macklin is done and should take some domestic fights against Barker and Murray that would raise a decent payday without the damage before he retires. Macklin couldn’t beat Sturm the first time and he has not improved since then. Truth be told he is a lot worse now he knows what it feels like to lose by KO.Posted December 13, 2013 6:40 am
Sturm v GGG pleasePosted December 13, 2013 4:59 am
What a ridiculous article… I mean a short recap about the past of Sturm and Macklin but the author doesn’t say a single word about Mack’s devastating loss to GGG!!!
How poor is that… blewing away Joachim, leading against Martinez… AND GETTING A STRAIGH and NON DEBATABLE KO by GGG where he didn’t stand a chance.
The decision against Macklin in the first bout against Sturm was baaad so is this biased article!Posted December 13, 2013 3:30 am
Fight a contender like Geale or Soliman first DUDE . You aint got it and Sturm would beat you for 12 anyhow !!!Posted December 12, 2013 11:28 pm
Old School Rules
I’d like to see Macklin face Andy Lee in March, and then a Sturm rematch in the summer. Both are great fights. Hopefully Macklin can get some good wins and a belt in 2014, and earn himself another shot at Sergio or GGG.Posted December 12, 2013 9:31 pm
Sturm ducked GGG for two years and was allowed to get away with it, no way Sturm is going there. Geale took Sturm’s belt and was stripped nearly straight away for taking a fight with Mundine instead of GGG.Posted December 12, 2013 9:22 pm
Why not GGG and Sturm?Posted December 12, 2013 8:07 pm
Mac did win that fight, no doubt about that.
Lol nope he aint calling out 3G.Posted December 12, 2013 5:49 pm
Macklin should go after Quillin in the USA, he is ready to be beat, weak champ.Posted December 12, 2013 5:42 pm
and why shouldn’t he? he believes he beat him the first time and still has sturm’s number. this is how fighters are meant to behave !Posted December 12, 2013 5:05 pm
anything to get his hands on a plastic belt.Posted December 12, 2013 4:42 pm
He definitely don’t want to call out GGG for a rematch. lolPosted December 12, 2013 4:39 pm
Qualifies as Sturm und Drang.Posted December 12, 2013 4:38 pm
