Paul, you say this: “Has one loss told the boxing community so much that it now knows this guy, a former P4P type fighter, has been crumpled down to no more than an also ran? In order for that to be the case, it means Broner was nothing more than a pretender, and someone who never had the kind of ability champions possess.” The simple fact is that the first Broner fight I saw televised was against Daniel Ponce de Leon, and I, and a lot of other people, including Harold Lederman, thought he lost that fight. The same can be said about the Paulie Malignaggi fight. So really a lot of boxing viewers are looking at this as though Broner finally got the “L” on his record that he has deserved for some time.Posted December 27, 2013 1:26 am

I could care less where this trash ends up. Broner is an ass clown and got the whipping he deserved. I’ll tune in to him once he grows the F up.Posted December 26, 2013 10:23 am
Yo sredmond if broner really had balls , he should of fight or least call out Gamboa or Thurman and the way he acted from a headbutt that maidana gave proves me he wants a way out = to no balls and no class . Broner got some talent but he needs a lot of tune up fights and a lot of growing up to do before he fights a very good fighter . Sorry but broner got no shot of being a great fighter but maybe a very good fighter , their is no shame on that . Good luck to Broner , he got a lot of work to do to fix himself up , he might be two notches better than berto if he can change his style .Posted December 25, 2013 4:41 am
Whoa, BOTH have notable wins against suspect fighters?!? Redmond, Wilder hasn’t yet even fought anyone that can be a person of interest yet alone suspect!!! Lol!!! Don’t do that, seriously. You’re better than that. You know Wilder has fought absolute unheard of opposition and a seriously warn down, burned out, beat down Liakhovich (which I truly believe was no longer a fighter after he got tagged and knocked through the ropes, I thought he was dead). That guy has been abused in wars with Brewster and several others, not to mention he was not even in the ring for like a year and a half or better. Other than an old slow/delayed reaction, shot fighters, nobody heard of any of those other guys… Not one of them. Don’t try to ease the suspect fighters thing in the back door because that’s BS. You look stupid for continuing to attempt this venture of comparing GGG’s opposition to The nobody fighter, Dontay Willis or whatever his name is. You tried to tell me he didn’t get rung up by Wlad in sparring also.. Until I served you some proof. I’ll go a little further and let you know that David Haye made him look horrible in sparring. He was nailing him and wilder was swinging wildly and getting caught every time he swung.Posted December 25, 2013 12:13 am
I see parallels between GGG’s career and Wilders absent Wilder having a belt… BOTH guys have compiled some really notable KO records against suspect fighters and trying to oversell Macklin is not buffing up Golovkins resume to the point where I am backing off my claims…Who said Sturm was a bad fighter? and I do think he was on the short end of a questionable decision against Oscar… That said GGG did NOT beat Sturm, he beat Macklin who is a 2nd tier MW contender who has lost as he stepped up… He was stopped by a relative nobody and Martinez.. AGAIN GGG’s resume is primarily STUFFING…Posted December 24, 2013 9:33 pm

Redmond, Ok, I didn’t mean he was winning all 10. But I could see I didn’t explain correctly. However I also see that you produced nothing in response because Deontay wilder is poop! He’s fought guys who have jobs sniffing farts out of airplane seats. And you act like Strum is bad and he’s not. He got jobbed here in the US against de la hoya. He beat that boys ass for him and got robbed. The point is that he lost to top tier fighters ONLY, and nobody demolished him like GGG. So don’t ever bring up that nobody who fights.nobodies again in the same sentence as Golovkin.Posted December 24, 2013 9:19 pm

You are milking Macklin to DEATH, yes he is a legit MW and GGG’s best opponent, that said he represents no more than a START and he had lost 2 of 3 despite your impending rant about him getting jobbed by Sturm…Alas it is what it is… Golovkin has NOT proved his point and we BOTH know it…Posted December 24, 2013 5:25 pm
Golovkin was NOT beating Martinez for 10 rounds that a GROSS exaggeration he was competing then he got broken down and stopped by Sergio who did it FIRST…. Attempts to inflate Macklin who had been stopped 2x by the time he faced GGG and lost to Sturm don’t compensate for the weakness of Golovkins resume…Posted December 24, 2013 5:16 pm
Nothing… he is a fraud like mayrunner…Posted December 24, 2013 4:18 pm
Redmond, if.Golovkin is like Wilder….. Golovkin demolished Macklin. Macklin was arguably beating Sergio Martinez for 10 rounds. Martinez as in champ of the division. We won’t even bring up Rosado beating the piss outta Kid Chocolate before a cut stoppage. Rosado that was nearly beaten to death by GGG. Who are you saying that Wilder has fought to equal that competition??? Honestly, are you missing a few chromosomes?Posted December 24, 2013 4:07 pm

If he does I like him to take a rematch with Maidana…With some adjustments thats a winnable fight for him in my view… He took Maidanas best and stayed on his feet, some solid defense and more activity and who knows the outcome… All credit to Maidana for being the better man when they fought last…Posted December 24, 2013 1:20 pm

Broner was smart in selecting Paulie at 147.
If Broners future is truly “Bleak” then we will find out in a couple of short bouts… We don’t even know if he is gonna stay at 147 going forward but alas if Wlad Klits can have a career then ANYONE can.. Klits was stopped 3x showing about 15x less balls than Broner getting off the canvas and fighting back… Pac Man has been laced 3x and 2 of the guys were nobodies and he came back to have a super successful fighter… AGAIN if Broner is done then so be it personally I liked his heart in the 11th and 12th the kid showed no quit…Posted December 24, 2013 10:29 am

I write what I see
if you look at it through my lenses, Broner 2 fights at WW, 2 opponents, 2 refs, 6 judges. Out of the 6 judges scorecards that judged his last 2 fights. 4 of them thought he lost. The future is very bleak. He tries to tag along with Floyd Mayweather Jr with the undefeated, no blueprint, taking over boxing, only to be subjected to a one sided beatdown like a runaway slave, easy to hit, his future is bleak, I can see another Amir Khan here…will fight non-punchers, matched with opponents from 2 divisions below and hope to get a big money fight with Floyd Mayweather jr and retire.Posted December 24, 2013 10:07 am
Seriously guys Golovkin CANNOT substitute that canned “everyone avoids me speech” for victories and be considered the man beating the quality of boxers he has been defeating… Pointing out that Broner has moved up weight classes and quality of his opponents is just a matter of fact… I was surprised that GBP would put him in with Maidana after he had an uneven affair with Paulie but to his credit Broner took the challenge and the punches that came with it…Golovkin is starting to face ANY Warm body he finds and his team is gonna have to do BETTER than this…Posted December 24, 2013 10:05 am
How is “Maidana faded” the consensus is that the 30 year old Maidana has become more technically sound working with Garcia and he has reeled off what 3 stoppages in a row after losing to Alexander who is a World Class fighter… How is Thurman “A step up” I like Thurman but who has he fought and beat? Soto Karass? he just booked that win on the undercard… Maidana has FAR more World Class experience than Thurman try and keep up, Khan, Kotelnik, Alexander, Ortiz, Soto Karass BEFORE Thurman knocked him out…. This was a STEPUP fight for Broner and thats just a FACT….Posted December 24, 2013 9:59 am
Malignaggi was DEFINITELY a step up for a YOUNG fighter coming up in weight… Saying that he was NOT is simply an indirect endorsement of Broners skills… Paulie has been a World Champ on more than one occasion and he has fought some of the best of the era… He showed his quality in the ring with Broner that night despite losing….I never decided where Broner was gonna land as far as upside, only time can tell that but writing him off like this is just immature and overdone the guy did NOT get battered, KOED or QUIT with no response…Posted December 24, 2013 9:56 am

Yo sredmond paulie mallinaggi was no step up , that was consider to be a easy showcase fight . You have to be realistic , Broner is good but he ain’t no future top 10 pd for pd and far from being a great fighter. I”m not impressed with him being a champ from one weight class to another , we all know their are guys out their got no biznezz holding a belt and you do not have to beat the best belt holder .Posted December 24, 2013 6:32 am

Yo sredmond r u stupid you consider a faded maidana a step up and ponce de leon got robbed. He should of fought Thurman , now that is a step up , but Broner want no part of thurman . Thurman would of ko the fraud . Golovkin is the most avoided fighter in boxing today you dum ass . Do not get me wrong maidana is dangerous despite he is a faded one trick pony , but Broner should be the guy that dominated that fight but he did not fight smart . Best thing for Broner is to go back to lightweight and start being himself and go fresh to basic boxing .Posted December 24, 2013 5:45 am

Broner sure stepped up faster than say a Golovkin who has yet to really step his game up! Broner faced 4 World Class fighters Ponce De Leon, DeMarco, Malignaggi and Maidana he did all that spanning weight classes in 19 months thats hardly “cherry picking” for a young fighter.. Cherry picking is Ishida, Ouma, Rosado, Stevens and now Adama and looking down the scale AGAIN for a Kirkland or a WW like the small but Super Skilled Mayweather… Broner had the guts to step up meanwhile guys like Golovkin are facing journeymen… SHAMEFULPosted December 23, 2013 11:22 pm

Ok it has been at least a week, Broner lost after talking massive trash frankly thats what guys are supposed to do in order to hype up a fight.. I understand people not being that fond of Broner but that does not change that we have NOT seen or heard the last of this fighter, he showed ALOT of guts and that he is nobodys punk in the ring… He KEPT trying to win and he did NOT let a serious finisher like Maidana take him out of there… Broner does NOT have to be Floyd Mayweather to have a terrific future in boxing, he has peoples attention and he creates emotion… If he can get back on track he will be making big $$$ and a big splash…. At this point NO ONE really knows what will become of AB but I for one am interested to find out…Posted December 23, 2013 10:25 pm
Urone2- yea Broner needs to fight like a champion and take this boxing buisness more serious. Its true Danny Garcia was able to box smarter than Broner against a power puncher. Broner IMO could give Danny Garcia some problems. Khan’s speed seemed to cause Danny some difficulties but Danny adapted well and Khan got stupider as the fight went on. IF Broner (thats a big IF) if he takes things more serious; quits acting like a fool,he can give the 140lbs division some serious competition. If he doesnt….well….he might as well take a seat and look to do buisness elsewhere because Maidana already layed out the blueprint on how to defeat Broner.Posted December 23, 2013 10:23 pm
Urone2- good point.Posted December 23, 2013 10:14 pm
Broner needs to do two things: 1.He needs to get off first. Way too often he simply shoulder rolls and covers up before returning fire. 2. He needs to control the distance. Moving his feet and going side to side would help him tremendously.Posted December 23, 2013 10:14 pm
Urone2 I agree Danny quickly adapted Broner talked up how one dimensional Maidana was supposed to be. turned out Broner was the one who was a one dimensional fighter he never adjusted, fought with heart but never adjusted.Posted December 23, 2013 9:28 pm
In the 11th rd it was back and forth in the 12th he looked stronger because of the late combination after the bell end of the 11thPosted December 23, 2013 9:05 pm
I’m not sure of the punch stats but didn’t Maidana double Broners output?? Why are we commending him for being the “stronger” fighter at the end? He barely used his stamina to try to out work Maidana. He’s a lazy fighter who’s going to get beat again by a lot of fighters who work even harder than Maidana.Posted December 23, 2013 8:59 pm
From the waist up Broner has the upper body of a Supermiddleweights. From the neck up he has the mind of a punk teenager. If he gets the right handlers and gets his head in order he still has a future in boxing because he has natural athletic ability.Posted December 23, 2013 8:47 pm
It isn’t just about one lost but about his two fights at 147. He didn’t look good against Paulie and showed the same shortcomings against Maidana. He’s predictable, which is why Maidana’s corner could easily stick to their plan.
I never thought he was great and I don’t believe he’ll ever be.Posted December 23, 2013 8:39 pm
Broner never stepped out of his pressure pot shot mode and it was not working at all. when Mattyssee got agressive against Garcia, he went into a full boxing mode to make Mattyssee have to work to catch him.Posted December 23, 2013 8:29 pm
I think Danny Garcia is smarter than Broner, he was able to own the boxer/puncher role against Mattyssee.Posted December 23, 2013 8:26 pm

Small correction. Browner did not look stronger in the 11th till after the bell cheap shot that obviously hurt Maidena. So by your logic Chavez deserves a rematch with Sergio for his strong 12 th round?Posted December 23, 2013 8:00 pm
Thurmal…ok. I dont like Broner let me just say that first. But Broner is fast and can punch. Im actually glad he got beat, didnt think he would lose but Maidana deserves all credit. Broner DID NOT fight like a champ instead like a clown and hope this defeat humbled him. Having said that. Broner also has a good chin and his defense was pretty good. Just because Maidana found a way around it doesnt mean his defense isnt any good. I bet Danny would get hit alot more and probably bruised up. Thats why It would be intresting to watch. BOTH Broner and Garcia have what appears good chins. Both have decent power but Broner is faster. However Danny moves his feet more. So it evens out pretty good.Posted December 23, 2013 7:49 pm
I think Broner COULD BEAT Danny Garica. Garcia has shown he can withstand fast and powerful punchers. He has a good chin and it would be intresting to see if he can hit Broner like Maidana. Matthysse would lose to Broner.
^pffff I’m taking all bets from you and your mother.Posted December 23, 2013 7:30 pm

Broner will be fine at 147, he just needs to get out and run, jump some rope. Once he gets his legs under and add a little foot speed to his hand speed he will be alright. Like I said before the jury was still out on Broner for me before the Maidana fight. I’m not sure he’s done at welter, it seems he believe his own hype, the way he tries to walk guys down he doesn’t control the range in which he fights.Posted December 23, 2013 6:34 pm

Its who you beat that means something. He is 24. Great things and pay days can still happen. But this is 2 fights in a row at 147 where he has not looked good. Maybe that’s a problem.Posted December 23, 2013 4:49 pm

Broner needs to go down in weight but I still think that 140 he is not likely to beat Garcia or even contender Mattysse. Maybe he should go down to 135 if he really wants to be successful.Posted December 23, 2013 4:24 pm
Broner needs to drop down in weight if he expects to bounce back. He is gonna have trouble with anybody at 147 right now. He also needs to take his craft more serious. All that partying doesn’t work when you are a boxer. It always catches up to you some wayPosted December 23, 2013 4:10 pm
of course broner can bounce back it fighters with less talent then broner have come back before after a loss and did good for themselfs it up to broner tho now since he knows he aint invincble like he thought he was maybe this will make him work harder and take boxing more serious cause if keep dong the same thing he been doing and keep fighting the same way next time he going to get knockout broner needs to use his footwork more and jab more fight more smarter focus on just winning the fight instead of the knockout all the time let the knockout come he still young we see how he comes backPosted December 23, 2013 4:04 pm
i think broner brings it on himself by not being fully prepared thinking he could just go to the top level and just dominate without focusing and after the post interview he’s still talking about clubbing n partying, come on son pay attention..yuup!Posted December 23, 2013 3:57 pm

Not a bad article my opinion Broner under estimated Maidana’s power and fought the wrong fight. I agree Broner was still strong and hands fast at the end he did hurt Maidana and Maidana hurt him. Made for a great fight. If this had been Gatti in the ring instead of Broner they would called it legendary battle but sense a lot of people disliked Broner they are a little bias toward him. Fight was great and Broner should rematch we can see if he adapts or goes the way of the Dinosaurs.Posted December 23, 2013 3:32 pm

The only downside was we didn’t get to see the ugly little oompa loompa squashed t u r d looking h o m o laid out flat on his grotesquely misshapen hunchback. He can thank his partner in crime the referee for that though. Keith ”One Time” Thurman. Maidana would’ve knocked him out cold had that corrupt bag of rancid sloth’s vomit Cole not been doing everything in his power to help his countryman and hinder Maidana at every turn. That corrupt f c u k had obviously been heavily sweetened up beforehand by snakey face Haymon.
As is so often the case with many of America’s best these days, Broner had his American referee in tow to allow him to fight to his own set of rules from first bell to last and to turn a convenient blind eye to all of his flagrant and repeated use of illegal cheating tactics. He held on like a limpet from the get-go. Used his elbow like a third glove all night and he must’ve pushed Maidana a million times too. The irony of course is how quick he was to cry whenever he was on the receiving, or more often not on the receiving end of, his own medicine. How ghetto tough, eh? lol. Keith ”One Time” Thurman.
Cole did the old I’m going to tell you not to do something a thousand times but let you get away with it all night routine, which wasn’t like totally transparent at all.. He then tried to make out he was on the level by doing the old issuing Broner a stern warning at the end of the fight routine lol. Go check out the interview with Cole on the RING TV website if you want a good giggle. He also gave him a long count and a much needed time out at a crucial stage at the fight after Maidana had dropped Broner and had him in big trouble. Cole actually had the nerve to complain about Maidana holding. lol Can you believe that? lolPosted December 23, 2013 3:30 pm

More abject humiliation and mass ridicule me hopes and thinks. Broner is exactly what I always knew he was. He’s a grotesquely ugly wonky-eyed little toilet rim licking lesbi@n hobbit with a deformed slug shaped wang and a massive bulbous club foot that stinks of dead people. Keith ”One Time” Thurman. It was beautiful watching that repulsive little clown get his comeuppance.
Marcos the Magnificent beat the living Jesus out of him and it was a joy to behold the utter humiliation and embarrassment he heaped upon him. He sonned him, sat him on his ass x 2, had him rolling around on the canvas in fits of histrionics doing a Dirrell, looking for the escape hatch like a little cowardly little chicken, and fractured his jaw and sent him scurrying from the ring in floods of tears like a scolded little toddler and into the back of an ambulance on his way to hospital with his tail tucked firmly between his piss-stained chicken thighs. Glorious! lol. Keith ”One Time” Thurman.
He also simulated bumming him off and battered years of mileage off his clock by pounding the crap out of his stupid swollen whale bollock shaped dome with his big old Argentine shovel fists. He thoroughly humiliated him in every conceivable possible way and it was an even more delicious watching his demise all over again in crystal clear 720p HD when I awoke from my dreamy slumber the following morning.Posted December 23, 2013 3:27 pm

“In rounds eleven and twelve, who was the aggressor? Who was stronger? Who was still a threat to kayo his opponent? It would seem in each instance, the answer is Broner. His abilities, his toughness, and his punching power were still there at the end.” – I don’t know which fight you watched?
@Paul Strauss, Maidana outlanded Broner in the 11th and 12th round. He landed the harder, crisper punches and hurt Broner in both rounds, just as he had in the previous 10 rounds. Both guys landed a hard punch each in the 12th but Maidana won it by dominating the last minute.
Broner should stay away from the top ten fighters at WW. He’s exposed and should think about his health in stead of taking 12 rounds of punishment once again. Imagine what Provodnikov or Matthysse would have done to him!Posted December 23, 2013 1:49 pm
