Floyd doesn’t need Pac.. NO fighter needs anybody..
A lot of people on the GOAT list ducked a lot of good boxers.. That’s how they went undefeated for such a long time.. For Floyd, some think he’s the GOAT and some don’t.. If Floyd fought Lara, Garcia, and Pacman before he quits the ring the Floydiots will have a great argument that he is indeed the GOAT.
If not — they’ll still think he’s the GOAT and argue that he is forever and ever — but there won’t be as many people in their camp.Posted December 30, 2013 12:58 am
simple answer YES he does. YES he does need to fight Pacquioa for his legacy. Do whatever it takes to make the fight happen.Posted December 30, 2013 12:11 am
Weak arguments. Fact is if Mayweather never fights Pacquaio that will be Mayweathers legacy…that he didn’t take on the percieved biggest challenge of his career. More emphasis will be placed on his strategic “retirement” and all other questionable fights will be revisited with the doubters and naysayers gaining support. Mayweather has made a career out of boxing fighters that are levels below Floyd. Floyd keeps saying Pacman is below his level. That never stopped him from fighting Gatti, or Baldomir, or Alvarez or Guererro but for some reason Manny isn’t worth his time.Posted December 29, 2013 3:05 pm
According to Nevada State Athletic Commission records, all five of Mayweather’s fights between the start of 2009 and mid-2013 (against Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, and Robert Guerrero) were contested in front of EMPTY seats. Even with 1,459 complimentary tickets being given away, there were 139 EMPTY seats for Mayweather-Guerrero. More troubling were credible reports that Mayweather-Guerrero registered only 850,000 pay-per-view buysPosted December 28, 2013 12:37 am
–“What’s this fight going to do for my legacy?” Floyd asked before squaring off against Ricky Hatton two-and-a-half years ago. “I got no fake answer. It’s not going to do nothing for my legacy. I’m fighting because I’m a business man. I’m like Bob Barker. ‘Come on down.’ If the price is right, let’s make it happen.”

Khan chickened out on the Alexander fight… He certainly doesn’t want to fight Shawn Porter… He would fight Malignaggi again that’s all… He has a short list of possible opponents and it has 2 names on it.
Paulie and Floyd.Posted December 27, 2013 2:12 pm
Has anyone realised that Khan is actually retired and just holding on for a fight with Floyd? If he can’t get a Floyd fight, Khan won’t fight again. If Khan has to wait until September 2014 for a Floyd fight, he will wait and will not fight anybody else in the meantime. If he does get the Floyd fight, he will quit immediately afterwards. All Khan wants is the pay day. Khan is a joke. He doesn’t deserve a shot at FMJ and should earn the chance by beating good welterweights first.Posted December 27, 2013 10:31 am

Wladimir had career defining fights…
David Haye was one … Haye had a lot of speed, power, and boxing ability but couldn’t do anything to a peak Wladimir… Chambers was a slick boxer who couldn’t win a round and suffered his only KO loss… Peter was a big bomber who couldn’t close the show—and fought Wladimir before Steward had a chance to really ramp his defense up… Wach was a career defining fight because nobody knew exactly how much punishment one man could absorb… Alexander Povetkin was a career defining fight because the man was an Olympic Gold Medal winner who had never been floored in 20 years as an amateur and pro — and Wladimir knocked him down 4 X.
What was a career defining fight for Larry Holmes??? When he barely squeaked by Tim Witherspoon who had 15 pro fights to his name?Posted December 26, 2013 8:35 pm

Look at boxers like klitschko looking for that one big fight that was not there, well it was, his brother maybe but klitschko go s down in history with a good legacy because of his achievements in the ring but history will tell a slightly diffrent, not as nice storie.
The history books, the hall of fame and such will lessen his greatness because there wasent that carrer defining fight to be made however mayweather dosent have that problem he has that guy, pacman, and manny has been around at least 6 years for floyd to fight and it hasent happened, thats worse than klitschkos situation coz nobodys avidibale to fill in the blanks, not wladmirs fault.
Sure floyd has a really good legacy but not great!!!
Ducking manny will allways follow floyds name around thru history even long after were gone, regaurdless what fans who make excuses for floyd say or not.
You can say whatever you want but it doesn’t make it true and it will not 50 years from now because you wont be around to defend floyd and make excuses, so future boxing fans will resort to facts and evidence to make an unbiased decision, and will look a lot like im saying right now.Posted December 26, 2013 6:02 pm

But….old habits die hard and Floyd will choose instead Maidana forgetting Bradley who’s been champion nearly two years at 147. Floyd avoids those with speed which is why he’s ignored Pac and Bradley. Maidana as much as I like him is the weakest link which Floyd prefers……you know, low risk easy fights for the same purse. It this anyone’s idea of an All Time Great? More like a bad joke.Posted December 26, 2013 4:27 pm
…..to add to your list….instead of having black facing opposing races, which only seem to biased and discriminatory….. better fights would be Thurman/Bradley. Why? They’re both in the 147 division and have experience in that weight class as does, Thurman/Porter, Porter/Bradley. Then and only then, have the winner face Maidana or Prodnikov. When Garcia has at least two fights at welter then mix him in but not before. Besides, the focus should remain on Mr. ole smoke and mirrors, Floyd Mayweather who’s only trying to remain relevant by fighting weak opposition, past their prime fighters, damaged fighters or catchweight fights. Floyd SHOULD be the one fight Bradley, Thurman, Porter, Pac, Lara and then Maidana…..in that order.Posted December 26, 2013 4:23 pm
Manny didn’t sign because he has the right to negotiate too. Lets not forget, he agreed to some of Floyd’s requests, but Mayweather kept adding more requests. Every man, woman and child can (and could at the height of their negotiations) see that Floyd didn’t want it.
His requests became excuses and everyone, including fans of both fighters, got tired of his bs.Posted December 26, 2013 3:47 pm
Well works both ways Pac would not take the test until 3yrs later after certain person was removed from his team. Floyd admitted his fear in an interview, which is available on youtube. When he demanded a blood test years ago, he clearly stated that he does not want to risk his health fighting a(n allegedly) drugged fighter in Pac. He said that he is a family man and and he owes to his family to stay healthy. At the same time, he, Sr and Roger stated that he could be Pac easy, even when he were on Peds. That is very contradictive, and doesn’t make sense. It sounds like an excuse, and the only explanation is fear of losing, there is no other at the time this was taking place. I am sorry Floyd fans, but your idol is indeed afraid, which is ok. Just admit it.Posted December 26, 2013 10:29 am

Let me ask you guys, why does a boxer (Mayweather), who is allegedly so much better than another (Pac) and makes so much more money, repeated mock and make fun of that other boxer? Is it shear poor character, jealousy or is it fear? Each one of these reasons are embarrassing. Poor character is a turn off, no matter how good you are. Only die hard fans (PEEJ, Sredmond) will dismiss it. Jealousy is also embarrassing. Why jealous, insecure? Not enough recognition? Too boring and knows it? The third reason is IMO the most likely one, fear. Afraid of losing what defines his entire legacy, the “0″. Once that is gone, his accomplishments, in his eyes, are all reduced to very little. It’s basically the fear to lose all he has except, including the money making potential and life style. All in all, it has become embarrassing, the mocking of another fighter and coming up with another excuse or condition every other week…Posted December 26, 2013 10:00 am

NO NOTHING Manny had 2 or 3 years ago would have been too much for Floyd he was getting boxed to a standstill by Marquez 2 years ago… Manny can fight but his opponent need to be more stationary and willing to just exchange with him in order for him to look his best… Bob Arum was NOT shy in discussing Brandon Rios standing RIGHT in front of Pac, he knew you could not have a counter puncher or mover in that ring who might lose but make Pac look less than dominant…Manny Pacquiao is certainly a special fighter that said his power leveled off at 147 and he is not stopping anyone, Floyd Mayweather is the LAST guy he is gonna get a chance to KO and thus he will be eating that jab all night and kept at bay… But just as Jim Lampley discussed in “The Fight Game” there is a COLD war between promotional companies and networks that is NOT going away anytime soon.. Forget Mayweather vs Pacquiao or just KILL yourselves because it ain’t happening…Posted December 26, 2013 9:23 am
Look, there is no doubt that Mayweather will beat a slightly over the hill Pacman.
The fight was interesting 2-3 years ago.
Should the Mayweather vs Pacman fight take place, it would be a lose lose situation for both.
The tempo, power an accuracy that Manny had 2-3 years ago, would clearly have been too much for Mayweather.
Both fighters are among the greatest of all time.Posted December 26, 2013 8:32 am
All these brainwashed Floyd fans saying Pacquiao has been knocked out… SO WHAT. This is boxing everyone gets knocked out or beat time to time, that’s what happens when you take a dangerous 50/50 fight you run the risk of being knocked out. Mike tyson got ko’d against buster Douglas does that make him finished in 1989/90?. Floyd only fights safe options FACT his record is hand picked and padded the lowest risk for the most money FACt.. Yes Manny got ko’d by Marquez but at least he had the balls to fight him 4 times to establish who was the best after 3 close fights. De la Hoya beat Floyd for me did floyd have the balls to rematch him to leave no doubt?? NO, for this reason he shouldn’t be mentioned in same breath as Hagler Leonard Hearns because he avoided the biggest challenge to him in case he lost the 0Posted December 26, 2013 7:27 am
Floyd’s choice of opponent is about Floyd’s legacy (and cash).
If Floyd wants to stake a realistic claim to be the greatest of all time, he must fight Manny while they are still both near their primes. He’d probably have to fight Martinez too. If Floyd is happy with being a ‘great’, he should keep fighting the ‘very goods’ and fill out his resume with guys who are just past it or not quite ready. Manny has a very deep well of self belief, terrific power, speed, a very good chin (despite being sparked against Marquez) and can keep going at a nasty pace for twelve rounds. He is one of the few fighters who could buzz Floyd and then keep him in trouble.
Even taking historical differences into account, there is no way Floyd compares to Ray Robinson or Ray Leonard without having defeated or faced Manny. Despite Floyd’s excellent resume, it feels like he has had his choice of opponents and he has chosen … wisely. Rays Leonard and Robinson took themselves into very deep water (Floyd vs Marvellous Marvin Hagler, anyone?), and they fought some opponents multiple times- if Floyd faced Oscar de la Hoya, Shane Moseley in his prime, or Miguel Cotto several times, you think he’d still have that 0?
All that said, Floyd is one hell of a fighter and one of the greatest of all time at any weight. He’s just not the greatest.Posted December 26, 2013 6:21 am

My weather fans need to wake up and realise the fear in Mayweathers demeanour. This fight needs to happen. This is a fight the fans want to see. This is a fight the world wants to see. Last time we checked Manny is the one broke. How does Floyd need him? Legacy there is no bigger name is boxing than Floyd his fights sell out that why he can fight a guy like Kahn and gross 300 mil. Manny last fight with Rios has less that 550,000 ppv if Manny is such a mega star and a household name why is it he is 68 million in the whole. You have to look at numbers not bragging rights not who is scared numbers dont lie. It like a election when the people decide who should be the next president. And the people have spoken Floyd is the king rather they watch his fights hoping he loses ro thay are fans they buys his fights. No one buys Mannys fights these days not hating just stating the obvious. No one cares how good you was in the past you are judged on the presenst and as of late Manny lost 2 out of his last 3 fights, and went the distant with a bum like Rios, no question he is not the same fighter he once was….Posted December 26, 2013 3:15 am

And it doesn’t matter about Heavyweight or Featherweights… When Eder Jofre was 38 he said he was better than ever and knew more than ever before… He won his last 25 fights and fought until he was 40 years old, losing to only one boxer in his career of 78 fights.
You see Lomachenko turning pro after 380 amateur fights and he only lost one… He probably fights until he’s 40… Rigondaaux as well.
Ali was a heavyweight who was done at 36… He didn’t like to train… Like Floyd Mayweather said — “Hard Work… Dedication.”Posted December 26, 2013 12:39 am
Sredmond.., You’re an idiot and you never boxed amateur and pro, or trained championship caliber boxers… Listen to Roger and Floyd Sr who have done it all.. They say Floyd is right at his best.. He’s a master.. Floyd was better than ever in his last fight.. Floyd is rolling along at his peak… His combinations and speed are as good as ever—and if he fought the same Zab Judah he fought years ago he’d shut him down and not let Zab win any rounds — and he would not get tagged hard and knocked down, which Zab did to him earlier.
Floyd could possibly see an erosion in his skills but it hasn’t happened yet… I think he can beat Pacquiao but it’s a problematic fight for him… The southpaw stance employd by a fast, slick, crafty boxer is more effective than a plodder like Ortiz or Guerrero… Particularly Lara and Pacquiao have styles that will trouble Floyd … Garcia also can trouble Floyd because the kid has uncanny timing and explosiveness.
Those would be the 3 toughest fights Floyd EVER fought.Posted December 26, 2013 12:28 am

Floyd has to continue his childish way with these ridiculous posts. Manny is on his mind, and he can’t get away. Manny Pacquiao, the ONLY 8 division boxing champion is in his head. If Floyd goes to see a movie, Manny on the screen. If Floyd goes shopping, Manny is right there. If Floyd eats a bowl of soup, Manny’s face is inside the bowl. Floyd doesn’t know how to handle the pressure of the public questioning him over and over. He’s caving in doing things that a mature adult would never do. As we all know, Floyd is the most insecure athlete we’ve ever seen. His envy and jealousy for Manny Pacquiao has no boundaries. Manny Pacquiao will not go away Floyd, stop running and find the bravery and courage to make the fight.Posted December 26, 2013 12:22 am

Tark, thats bogus and I discussed specifically LOWER weight fighters who rely on the finer points of the game and generally need more activity to achieve their goals… Your contention that Floyd and Manny are “in their primes” REALLY tells us that all your bluster about the fine points of the sport is just that BLUSTER… Manny Pacquiao and Floyd are both OUT of prime despite their ability to still WIN (In Floyds case always) Manny used to be able to really bat his opponents around and get them outta there now he is a guy who has to win on points, his chin is also showing signs of decay as evidenced by him going down 2x against Marquez who never beat another WW… Floyd Mayweather does not have the same legs he used to have, nor the rapid combos of his youth, he is STILL fast with a 1-2 and still moves better than most but the old FMJ was similar to a lightening bolt or a Cheetah… Moneys amazing defense and technique have allowed him to adjust while still maintaining the integrity of his defense but he is “There” far more than he used to be….I am all for these 2 fighting but UNLIKE YOU and a HUGE portion of ESB I follow the politics of boxing and even Jim Lampley on “The Fight Game” clearly articulated the split between HBO and Showtime as well as GBP and Top Rank….I am reconciled to this fight not happening, and I don’t even think Manny is the most dangerous opponent for Floyd and I never really did… Pac Man has issues that Mayweather specializes in exploiting the kind of things that a Brandon Rios cannot bring out THATS why he was chosen after the horrid 2012 campaign…Posted December 25, 2013 9:21 pm

Actually Pac has been taken out by 1 shot before.Posted December 25, 2013 2:46 pm
Sredmond.., you’re a JERK who knows ZERO about boxing… I didn’t say Floyd and Pacquiao were at their peaks — but they’re still in their prime years if they fought in May.
Floyd is not Sugar Ray Leonard. He still gets better with each fight. Recently Floyd said, “I believe I can get better.” … Right after the Canelo fight his dad and uncle agreed, “Floyd is better than EVER.”
Wladimir believes he’s a better boxer now than he was 5 years ago… Vitali says he hit his peak at 37, “I didn’t master a lot of technique before that.” Stevenson is hitting his peak right now at 36 or 37.. Pacquiao may erode before Floyd does, because he gets hit mroe, but a one-punch KO loss doesn’t mean you’re past your prime. Pacquiao learned from that loss. He’s never been taken out with a head shot before … and now he’s more aware of every punch, or potential punch an opponent can throw… He’s going to be better defensively.
Boxing is a game of knowledge and skill more than youth and power. Prime years can be extended through the mid 30′s today — with better lifestyle, training methodology, boxing science, nutrition, more rest … and more time off between fights.. I’m damned right these 2 are still in their prime years … Pac just shut out a 31-1 guy with a size, height, strength, and youth advantage. He looked damned good.Posted December 25, 2013 2:37 pm
And he only fought 2 fights at 140 then moved to 147. Not really enough time to get used to 140 or 147Posted December 25, 2013 1:15 pm
Hidalgo, difference is Floyd was coming off a 2 year layoff. Marquez wanted to fight Floyd so Floyd obliged him. Not to mention Floyd never lost. Marquez also has remained at 147 too. My point is Pac is fighting someone not even ranked at 147, coming off a loss and once he beats him he gets ranked above many other people that deserve that ranking. Pac doesn’t. He is 2 and 2 in his last 4 fights. That should not be enough to get you ranked in the top 5 of any organization. Floyd wasn’t the mandatory for any belt after beating Marquez. He then fought Mosley who was highly ranked after coming off the beat down of Margacheato. And on another note, a Rios fight gets you ready for the best boxer? Really. He needs to fight a boxer like Bradley to even prove he belongs in the ring with a great boxer. Pac has looked terrible against boxers. This is the reason why he does not fight themPosted December 25, 2013 1:13 pm
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted December 25, 2013 12:23 pm
“Pac shouldn’t be the number one contender. How do you become the mandatory after losing 2 in a row and then fighting someone not even ranked at 147 whom is coming off a loss himself?”
Peej, Marquez wasn’t ranked at 147 when Floyd fought him. Marquez fought as a lightweight before facing Floyd and he went back to fighting as a lightweight after he fought Floyd. At least Rios wasn’t moving up two weight divisions to fight Pacquiao as Marquez was to fight Mayweather.
In regards to your other comments, it’s Manny Pacquiao, not Victor Ortiz. Even with Pacquiao’s recent losses, he still a force to be reckoned with. At the elite level.Posted December 25, 2013 12:14 pm

Ortiz wasn’t undefeated when Floyd fought him. And don’t forget the manner of Floyd’s victory over Ortiz. It was a hollow win and certainly nothing anyone should be boasting about. I know cracking a defenceless unsuspecting target with a sucker punch in the hood is regarded as the height of civility, regardless of the age, gender of the unfortunate recipient it, but it might come as a surprise to you that normal people frown on that kind of thing.
Pacquioa beat undefeated opponents as well. But if we’re using fighters not having unblemished records when you fight them to discredit your victory over them, what does that say about all of Floyd’s opponents who had beaten before he fought them?
Cotto 2 loses

Notice i didn t say fight him cuz all Floyds opponents get paid for a marathon run and walk out the ring unmarked. Why go to war with real fighters and get paid way,way less to get hit – against fighters that can hurt you. Khan backed out of fighting Alexander for just that reason cuz he s pencilled in to run with Mayweather in May – FARCE. Pac would run at Mayweather.Right through him!Posted December 25, 2013 8:19 am
yes. the guy has always had talent, but if he does not fight manny pacquiao and stops all this nonsense he will never be in the same company as robinson, duran, leonard, pryor, hearns, etc. whats amazing to me is that so many people buy into his myth. the man has gone on record saying he doesn’t want to get hurt and why should he fight pacquiao.the answer is because when you claim to be the greatest boxer ever, you back it up.thats what champions do. hell,he probably beats pacquiao but saying it and doing it are two different things all together. to be compared to the true greats, all roads lead through manny pacquiao.Posted December 25, 2013 7:24 am
The answer is a big fat YES! If Floyd dont make the fight next with the other elite fighter Manny he would be remembered as the ducking, chicken, coward forever more.Too much is made out of the Alverez win. Alverez is no monster. He s just a plodding counterpuncher with a low work rate that could nt look good against average Mathew Hatton.I new then he was overated and Mayweather fight went just how i imagined it the perfect opponent to make Floyd look good. The only people that think otherwise are biased americans or people on Floyds payroll. At welter Floyd has obvious size advantage. So whats he so afraid of? Ill tell you what. Everything else.Posted December 25, 2013 6:57 am

I think if the fans want May vs Pac then it should happen. Moreso because of their huge profiles. Fans have missed out too much over the years on certain match ups because the money wasnt there. The money is there for this one. Lets get it on.Posted December 25, 2013 6:23 am
I think people this Manny way too much credit. He beat Cotto and Oscar like Floyd but he beat dehydrated guys they had to make welter Floyd beat them both at 154. Floyd beat higher caliber fighters than Manny as a ameture he cleaned out the division guys like Gatti, Manfredy Castello Corralez where all worthy fighters and he walked through them all. Floyd beat guys that was undefeated Hatton, Ortiz Corallez and even Alverez how many undefeated guys did Manny beat? Manny as of late is not the same guy that was dominating since moving up in weight He didnt KO Bradley, Marquez or Rios. Floyd never needed Manny this article is a piece of garbage. No one even wants to see the fight anymore it lost all the luster. ABut maybe people would be interested more if Pac started beating worthy fighters instead of bums like Rios, who anyone could look good against Manny will loose again in 2014 I guess was cherry picked a guy undefeated Alverez is a beast and you seen what happened to him but somehow Floyd is afraid of Manny no Manny is afraid of neddles but the had tattos that was his reasoning for not agreeing to the drug testing. When its all said and dont of the fight dont happen pactards will call Floyd scared but the one thing you cant call him is broke, like Manny who fights bums all this talk of Floyd but there are plenty of guy in the welters Manny can fight to get credible wins and pleanty of money Like Garcia, Maidana and Mallinagi OH but wait Arum wont let him fight anyone outside of top rank I forgot.Posted December 25, 2013 6:22 am

Money fought 49 nobodies…no one ever heard of .
In Floyd’s first fight with Castillio, misses don’t count either….and Castillio missed for the first six rounds….hard to hit a superball on coke bouncing off the ropes…not that Floyd was doing coke.,….next post will say so though. I never seen any one move so fast for so long. And Floyd did pick up a couple of more rounds too….and I was a Mayweather hater when I watched that fight. That 12th round he lost, was a hell of a round.Posted December 25, 2013 6:03 am

Every since Floyd left top rank he has been making his own terms for fights to take place. And if you want the bout you agree to his terms. Richard Schaffer said Floyd is the boss. Anyone he decides to fight they type up the terms both men sign and the fight happens its that simple. And who wouldnt want to fight Floyd it is the biggest pay day for anyone. Manny was sent the terms like all the rest and he turned it down. Oscar , Richard Schaffer even 50 cent tried working with Arum. he wanted 50/50 Manny makes 3 mil a fight and Floyd was giving him 40 million. guys are lining up to fight Floyd. But who wants to fight Manny no one wants to get robbed by Arum and Mannys blind loyalty ruined his chances even to this day Floyd said he would fight Manny if he leaves Arum. How can a man be so much in debt turn down the biggest pay day of his life I am confused? How can Manny be broke after all his fights I will tell you how because he works for a crook.Posted December 25, 2013 5:13 am
All this talk is for nothing Arum holds the keys to Manny he always has. Anc he has him on lock all this scared talk is for nothing. This fight could have happened way back in 09 but Arum killed it then and it never changed. We can go back ad forth all day but the same thing that happened to Manny will happen to Bradley they will end up broke, Manny owes 68 million is back taxes that says it allPosted December 25, 2013 4:58 am
The fight is too late now to be of major significance to Mayweathers legacy, bit like when Lewis fought Tyson, but it is still very marketable.Posted December 25, 2013 4:54 am
Enough about legacy talk. It’s pointless. Let them fight anyway. What’s the big deal? Besides, who else is there for Mayweather to fight, that would be bigger money than a Pacquiao fight? As Mayweather and his fans say, Pac has no chance. So let them fight anyway. What has Mayweather got to lose? Mayweather fans, help me out on this one.Posted December 25, 2013 4:47 am
No offense, but this author is a bit delusional. PBF’s legacy will definitely take a hit for not fighting Pac-man. Not now, but a few years ago when both fighters were in their prime and red hot. People debate whose at fault for the fight not happening. But, all you have to do is look for the one who put the most obstacles in the way, and that will tell you who was the most to blame. In my humble opinion, that was PBF. And this author uses the theory, well, he beat so and so, that must mean he would have beaten him. Nope. Sorry author, boxing doesn’t work that way. You DO NOT get credit for beating somebody unless you beat them in the ring. I agree that a PBF vs. Pac-man fight is over-cooked and long overdue. But, it would still be an intriguing fight. Pac-man seems to want it but for whatever reason, PBF doesn’t seem interested. It would likely be a career high payday. Why not? Or, is the confidence still not there? Does Pac-man need to be in a few more wars, show more signs of slippage? Is that what it will take? Seems so.Posted December 25, 2013 4:15 am
Manny didnt fight him he is the one who turned down the fight remember. First Floyd was scared of Oscar then he was scared of Cotto then there was Hatton anyone can get thrown into the hat now there is Manny who is broke and got beat by Marquez a guy that didnt win one round on Floyd. He is afraid of everyone Maidana and Garcia. This is Manny is not even winning fights these days. Rios was a joke Bradley he didnt dominate and Marquez put him to sleep you pactards never stop….Posted December 25, 2013 3:04 am

The greatest thing about a Pacquiao win:is he has the potential to make additional fights to continue his great career… The worst part about a Pacquiao win is: his fans come out and start belittling the only guy that’ll out class Pacquiao in the ring…
I don’t know about that last statement. I can think of more than a handful of fighters that could outclass PAC right now.. or even in his so called ‘prime’ a few years back. Seriously, the guy is and has been for some time now, waaaay overrated. Very little skill and technical ability. Zero defense.Posted December 25, 2013 2:26 am
Floyd and Pacquiao are still in their primes.. The fight will break all PPV and revenue marks.. Floyd doesn’t need it for his legacy..
Ali didn’t need to fight Larry Holmes instead of Leon Spinks for his legacy… Foreman didn’t need to fight Holmes for his legacy… Ray Leonard didn’t need to fight Michael Nunn or Mike McCallum for his legacy… Robinson didn’t have to fight Archie Moore or Charley Burley for his legacy… Hearns didn’t have to fight McCallum for his legacy.
Floyd is an ATG whoever he fights… But if he wants to be the GOAT he has to fight Erislandy Lara… Danny Garcia… and Manny Pacquiao.Posted December 25, 2013 1:42 am

First it was drug tests demands. When that got tired it was “I’m in the check cashin bizness and need $100 mil to fight” When that didn’t work, now it’s Manny missed his chance and is no longer worthy worthy of letting Floyd cash that $100 mil check for TMT! And now that people see through that, it’s Manny’s gotta leave Arum to get a fight… I mean how stupid does Floyd’s fans have to be to not see Floyd is a GIANT CHICKEN who’s not only insulting their intellect, but is mocking them behind their backs for being so gullible!!Posted December 25, 2013 12:02 am

Hidalgo your data is all skewed Pac does catch weight at 147 that is dropping fighters down 7 or 8 pounds to weights they had not attempted in 6 or more years ODH, Cotto, Clottey, and Marg. Mayweather did not force JMM up or down he had a claus in the contract that stipulated May would pay x amount if he could not drop the 2 extra pounds which is not cheating it was in the contract and JMM agreed. The only other catch weight was Canelo which was 2 pounds lower 154 instead of 152. Get you jit together man.Posted December 24, 2013 11:09 pm

Why do people keep bringing up Manny’s name when Floyd is definitely way better and has more skeeeellzz. he does not have to face Manny because he already beat Marquez and Marquez beat Manny 4 times and got robbed. Manny also lost to Bradley and just beat a lightweight who is slower than Heinz Ketchup or molasses. Besides, Rios lost to Richard Abril but got a decision. He lost to Alvarado which proves he is not on Floyd’s level.
Truth is Manny has not been dominate is his last four fights. I will give him the Bradley fight I believe he did enough to win. And CJ Ross is a joke. But aside from that he didnt dominate Bradley who cannot punch. Marquez dropped him and he goes the distant with a bum like Rios. This is not the same guy that was walking through fighters like Cotto and Oscar Manny has no power anymore. Anyone could look good against a guy that stands right in front of you and trades shots, Rios was nothing. Manny needs more wins against worthy fighters people dont care about yoour past only today. And as of late your boy dont look like he once was. No one is afraid of Manny. Its just that fighters are too wise to get robbed by the jew that manages him….Posted December 24, 2013 9:55 pm
SREDMOND: It boggles the mind how certain fans, mostly Floydiacs, can look at a fight and just see what they want!… When if they’d simply open their eyes or put on their bi-focals and actually watch their last bout, they’d have seen that Manny’s hand-speed and agility was dominating and making JMM miss more, than their first three fights, combined… Even with that 3rd rd KD… Hell, Manny even CLEARLY dominated the 6th round, when he got caught… So his speed had nothing to do with Marquez’ lucky shot.

Pacquiao “is faster” yeah right of course Pac looks FAST against a bloated SLOW fighter like Rios… His handspeed did not serve him as he was put on his rear 2x against Marquez… Both Manny and Floyd are blessed with quickness, Mayweather has superior technique and anticipation…If Manny is “now the faster fighter” then REM should have no issue if he and Floyd clash in 2015 because he will be that much quicker than Floyd right?? Attempts to sell a guy who was ONE loss away from being told to retire by his promoter and his LONG time trainer as this all encompassing threat for Mayweather fall flat… Pacs dominance has LONG been compromised whereas Floyds is still VERY intact… People thought Canelo had a chance and Floyd Mayweather QUICKLY showed that he is not “going quietly into that goodnight”Posted December 24, 2013 9:23 pm

And the grand thing about it guys are lining up to sign to fight Floyd. But who is lining up to fight Manny? Marquez turn down a 5 fight. Manny ignorant loyalty will keep him not only form reaching all time greatness but ensure he will be broke. Manny should read a page out of Mike Tysons book on who not to trust he is blinded by Arum who exploits this imagrant. Manny for all his fame and boxing wins will go down as another sad story in the never ending drama of the sport. Meanwhile guy like Floyd are revolutoners. Look after the whole P.E.D. issue was broke up my Mayweather now hella guys are getting caught with there paints down. Secondly he promotes his own fight No Arum no Don King. equal ensuring you wont end up broke and with parkinsons decease like Ali. Manny is just one in a list of many fighters that let the powers that be ruin them as there only ticket out of the ghetto they agree to get pimped by these blood suckers, Manny is no different than all the other men that have been taken advantage of. he is no different he loves Arum for what he did not seeing him for what he is. And it is for this reason alone what could have been the greatest fight in the history of the sport cannot ever happen. Some fighters do wise up and make there on way. Floyd was with Top rank and so was Oscar and Cotto they all left and Floyd fought them so maybe there is stipp some hope for Manny. He only has about 3 fights left tops…Posted December 24, 2013 9:15 pm

Manny only no’s 1 way. Bradley need only change a few things. Apart from Bradley what are his options? What are Floyds options? Garcia Sergio/Cotto @ middleweight, Lara? Meanwhile manny is looking at JMM no.5. Manny will lose 2014. Hell, Floyd could even sell this Khan fight or Paulie and still every1 would watch it including mannys biggest fans.Posted December 24, 2013 9:13 pm
YES again YES he does. Pacquioa is a BIG name to add to Mayweather’s resume. Why is this even a question?Posted December 24, 2013 9:00 pm
Floyd Mayweather is financially independent of Manny Pacquiao the sales point of “Biggest Payday” may or may not be accurate the truth is that Floyd can pay a Canelo 5 mill guarantee or 12 mill all in and he pulls down 41.5 mill base plus the ridiculous upside and promotional monies.. Pac Man would look for a guarantee that is less than Mayweathers yet MUCH more than another boxer has to make… Floyd has STAR power that pretty much keeps him at 1 mill PPVs or above even with guys who are not as popular… Lets be clear, Pac Man cannot shore up Mayweathers finances, Mayweather can shore up Pacquiaos.. As long as he wins, Floyd makes 32 mill for 4 more fights that simply NOT peanuts….. This fight would be HUGE, no question about it but pretending it would be life altering monetarily for Floyd at this point is simply NOT accurate unless Manny really took it in the rear and ate 20 mill Flat….Posted December 24, 2013 8:46 pm
Nope Floyds legacy is already cemented. Manny had many times to make this fight happen and he turned it down along with 40 million. Floyd is the best of our era only a Sugar Ray Robinson would have gave him a run for his money. Manny has been koed 3 times beat 5, no way a guy with loses even one can be compared to a guy undefeated. Manny is no longer a treat at all he has no KO power anymore Bradley Marquez even Rios went the distant with him. How is it a man so much in debt can turn down 40 mil? Floyd dont need Manny. But Manny needs Floyd but he has to leave Arum. Manny will loose again in 2014 if he faces anyone credible. Arum will only match him with Ruslan who I dont think he will beat Marquez turned down a 5 fight. Or Bradley who cant punch. Manny will never face Floyd. Garcia, Maidana or Mallinagi. Manny is destined to be broke and punch drunk at the end of his career compliments of Arum and his stupid loyalty. Only Pactards are behind him the boxing public as whole dont even buy his fights on ppv.Posted December 24, 2013 8:40 pm
Floyd has earned the right o do what he wants, but he will be judged on what he does with that right.

SREDMOND: Floyd was born into boxing family with all the nutrition and tutelage a future Olympian and World champ could need or desire… Manny was twice KO’d as a near starved street urchin, struggling to make minimum weight. To beat Manny, Morales had to force him to wear pillows and pay someone to lose his bloodtests to then force him to take extra bloodtests to weaken him, Bradley had the help of the judges to rob him, and Marquez had to hire a convicted cheater named Heredia, to make him look like the Hulk, and was getting dominated until Manny got careless, allowing the Hulk to land a lucky KO shot. He was in a controversial 3rd fight with Marquez that really raised eyebrows then fast forward to the KO loss and we have seen a shift in expectations for Pac Man…Now beating a guy like Rios coming off a loss and up in weight is seen as some sort of proof of his resurgence or sigh of relief… I understand him getting a handpicked opponent in order to get back on track but guys like this are seen as beyond No Hopers for Mayweather…Guys wanna see Pac prove his worth against OLD Marqeuz coming off a loss, whereas Mayweather would be drawn and quartered if he fought JMM again under any circumstances…Its a new day and Floyd sits ALONE as Top Man in the sport!Posted December 24, 2013 7:03 pm

Floyd after watching Pacquiao vs Hatton fight apparently said “Man, I needed 10 rounds to knock this guy, that “midget” just needed two”!!! you gotta be kidding me!!!Posted December 24, 2013 6:40 pm
Peej: Now where was I? Oh yeah… Dude… MANNY, NEVER said he was “scared of needles”. That was said by Arum to the press, while being a smartass because at the time he was a bit frustrated with Manny’s new and Arum felt, unreasonable superstition after the Morales loss, which Floyd exploited to kill the fight with similar blood-test demands that Floyd conveniently demanded be drawn, right before the fight. But once Arum said it, Camp Floyd and his fans used the statement, as a negative P.R. stunt of misinformation against Manny, Asking crap such as- “How is Manny scared of needles when he has tattoos?” and such….
The truth is that what Manny actually said, in a Filipino TV interview after the Morales loss, was that “He felt those bloodtests so close to the fight made him weak, and cost him the victory.” Floyd simply used that newfound fear against Manny, to scare him out of taking the fight. repeatedly.Posted December 24, 2013 6:37 pm
One of the trainers of Floyd admitted that Pacquiao is twice as good as Casillo the first time the fought. Floyd does not like to be swarmed with punches. Pacquiao’s punch stat iis twice as much as Castillo which makes him so scared.Posted December 24, 2013 6:34 pm

PEEJ- we all know the excuses that were thrown back and forth between Mayweather and Pacquioa. So you can stop with your constant reminder of them. We dont care. They NEED to fight. Pacquioa is known worldwide that even Floyd fans know who he is. Pacquioa is popular, he brings his fanbase, all the filipinos. Between Floyd and Manny they can set a NEW PPV record. Everybody, THE WORLD is waiting on Floyd to make up his mind, (since he is calling the shots).Posted December 24, 2013 6:24 pm

No Pac fight and Floyd retires at the very bottom of the atg list. Pretty much answers that question.Posted December 24, 2013 6:19 pm

He should have fought him in 09 when both fighters were considered in their prime and had an open window to fight one another.
People can debate who’s fault it was as to why this fight never happened, but to me, it definitely stains JR’s legacy having never fought the only guy considered skilled enough to give him his first “L”.
Right now, there isn’t anyone close to beating him. Only Father Time will do that.Posted December 24, 2013 6:16 pm

Enough with this Mayweather vs Pacquiao debate.Mayweather would’ve dominated him anyway. Pacquaio wouldn’t be able to find a target. Especially if Marquez was able to slip his punches..Bradley too. Manny is overrated and only looks watchable against punchers with no headmovement or footwork.Posted December 24, 2013 6:08 pm

He isn’t robbing me of anything. I think it is an easy fight for Floyd and have said that since this fight was discussed in 2009. I could care less if the fight is made. I would much rather him fight someone who deserves the fight like Bradley. But Arum is still in that picture so until Bradleys contract is up the fight won’t be made. This is what happens when you are a greedy old man.Posted December 24, 2013 6:00 pm

Scared of needles, makes me weak, I am superstitious (all that and he just did the random test for Rios), Floyd is going to jail can’t happen in May (Floyd went to jail in June), not enough time to promote the fight (like the fight really needs a lot of promoting), Pac has a cut and can’t fight on the date Floyd is fighting on ( Pac fought a month sooner), there needs to be a stadium built (still waiting on that one). Sounds like Arum is more than just one excuse.Posted December 24, 2013 5:41 pm
The thing I find funny is that the very things detractors claim they hate about Floyd are the reasons he’s so successful. They hate that he went his whole prime undefeated. They hate that he’s “arrogant” and flashes his money. They hate the fact he’s his own boss and doesn’t bow down to any greedy promoter. And the results for all this? Huge PPV numbers. Like the old saying goes: ” They don’t have to like you, as long as they pay to see you.” And Floyd has as many fans as he does detractors, all paying to see if he can remain undefeated or finally lose. It’s no wonder he’s the PPV king. The same detractors that claim they hate him so much, are the first ones in line to pay to see if he finally falls. Truth is, Floyd is brilliant both inside and outside the ring and history will show this. Noway does Floyd need Pacquiao.Posted December 24, 2013 5:40 pm

At this point in a lot of fans eyes only Pacquiao’s legacy will increase if he fights Mayweather and wins. At that point Mayweather’s legacy will take a hit. If Mayweather wins the fans like Rafeal will say, aww Pac was already knocked out by Manny. This win wasn’t much, and Mayweather’s legacy won’t change from what it is right now… The point is, Mayweather’s legacy is already in place and very solid, but pac fans will never agree with that no matter what happens in the futures.Posted December 24, 2013 5:26 pm

You are the stooge if you can’t see that. He is not gonna do business with Arum because Arum is just gonna once again waste his time. No need to go through that again. They will not agree to Floyds demands, unlike what Floyd did in 2010 and agreed to all their demands. But if you can’t see that then you are also blind.Posted December 24, 2013 5:21 pm
According to Rafeal Mayweather can’t have a legacy without Pacquiao. Well lets see about, before Pac was on the rise Mayweather already earned his seat in the HOF. Since then He’s went on to win all of his fights in Impressive fashion. The only one’s that will say Mayweather has no lagacy will be saying that Pacquiao’s legacy is in place. You can’t have one without the other. Both fighter’s legacy’s will be fine without one another.Posted December 24, 2013 5:21 pm
Starfish: EXACTLY! Marquez has lead feet and is only any good against opponents who come into his wheelhouse, voluntarily. Like Manny does… Manny was dominating Marquez last time because he was NOT trying to brawl with a master counter puncher… Manny was headed for a clear UD… But as I said before, he and Roach let their pride goad Manny into trying to prove and unnecessary point and he got KO’d. Then, Bradley vindicated my oft stated notion that Floyd only picked Marquez because first he knew gaining 8 pounds would slow him down, and because he knows Marquez has no clue how to aggress a boxer, with those lead feet… Indeed, the only reason Marquez is ever able to give Pac-man fits is because Manny wants to crowd-please, and because Marquez is willing to take 3 hard shots to give one to Manny… Floyd however, is NOT willing to take Manny’s shots to give like Marquez is. And he doesn’t hit hard enough to gain Manny’s respect and keep him at bay… Hell, if Floyd couldn’t with Cotto, he damned sure can’t with Manny! And believe me Floyd and his fans know this too.Posted December 24, 2013 5:20 pm
Right Peej because several million is a slap in the face to Floyd right? Because we all make that working every single day. You are a stooge.Posted December 24, 2013 5:17 pm
Your ridiculous. I have already listed all the excuses Pac and company made. There is only one thing standing in the way and that is Arum. If you can’t see that then nothing can be done for you. You only seem to take certain things you want to hear from Arum.Posted December 24, 2013 5:17 pm
Articles are usually either pro Mayweather or pro Pacquiao and this is certainly in Mayweathers favour. I think his legacy is cemented but a Pacquiao victory would silence the doubters, or at least some of them. I think it should happen after Pacquiao has reversed defeat to either Bradley or Marquez to make it sure. If it happens in May then some will say Manny was washed up anyway. He needs, and the fight integrity needs Mannyto win at least one more fight against good quality opposition for the result to have sufficient meaning.Posted December 24, 2013 5:15 pm

Peej, what’s the concern then? If he’d toy with him why not, right?Posted December 24, 2013 5:07 pm
I agree they will wonder but the person to blame here is Arum. He is a greedy old man but he knows boxing. He didn’t want Pac to fight Floyd, that is why he kept killing the fight.Posted December 24, 2013 5:03 pm
Real boxing fans know that Floyd would toy with Pac. Unfortunately Arum knew that to so that is why they kept killing the fight. Terrible. Ducking rematches with Oscar or Hatton. That is funny. No need for rematches in any of those fights. Floyd clearly beat both of them.Posted December 24, 2013 5:02 pm
I agree, PEEJ, Pacquiao did lose the 3rd fight with Marquez. And the other Marquez fights were very close. And Mayweather beat Marquez handily. But that absolutely does not mean Mayweather beats Pacquaio handily. Maybe he does, but I doubt it. Maybe Pacquaio beats Mayweather handily. I doubt it. In other words, nobody knows what would happen. Which is why it’s a great fight. If Mayweather fights 4 really good fighters in his next 4 fights and beats them all, then he’ll retire undefeated and go down as one of the great boxers of all time. BUT, everyone who was around at the time will wonder what would have happened if he and Pacquiao went at it. Sugar Ray Leonard fought Hearns — very courageous move. And Hagler. He almost lost to both of them, but at least he fought them.Posted December 24, 2013 5:01 pm

Floyd is a phantom champion. He’s never faced a real prime threat unless he had legs of stone and feet of clay, such as Gatti, Guerrero, and Alvarez… And he’s even ducked a few of them, such as prime undefeated Margarito. Indeed since jumping to WW, Floyd hid from prime Mosley, and prime undefeated versions of Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, and Williams… And it goes without saying he’s gone into hiding from ANY version of Pacquiao!! The man needs to step up and prove he’s worthy of his own record and his self-proclaimed legacy.Posted December 24, 2013 4:53 pm

Starfish, most people think Pac lost the 3rd fight with MarquezPosted December 24, 2013 4:49 pm
What may be tainted is Pacs run at welter. He fires Ariza, finally does random testing, but unfortunately does it with a fighter Ariza is working with for the first time who has never come up dirty in a drug test and yet that fighter comes up dirty after working with Ariza. This being one fight removed from being in Pacs corner. So why did he all of a sudden decide to do the random testing with someone who had his old strength and conditioning coach?Posted December 24, 2013 4:49 pm
This article is ridiculous and shallow. As Peter says, completely lacking in insight . Yes, of course Mayweather is a great fighter – incredible skills. But the article is still lame and biased. Just saying that Pacquiao lost 2 out of the last 3 misrepresents the situation — most people think he beat Bradley, he was beating Marquez handily until Marquez caught him coming in with the best punch of his career, and he didn’t just beat Rios he dominated him. And Rios was just nudged by Alvarado in his last fight — pretty close fight. As for Mayweather, he did NOT beat an in-his-prime Marquez. Marquez had to gain a lot of excess weight for that fight and had a significant size/weight disadvantage. And it took Mayweather 8 rounds to beat Hatton, while Pacquiao annihilated him in 2. De La Hoya was over the hill and gave Mayweather a reasonably close fight. Pacquiao annihilated him. The point is not that Pacquiao is better than Mayweather, it’s just that Mayweather needs to fight the best out there to truly elevate his legacy – he needs to fight Pacquiao. And maybe Bradley. Tough guys who would come at him with real offensive skill. Ortiz is not a top-notch fighter — beaten by Maidana and Lopez. Canelo – let’s wait and see when he actually starts fighting people in his own weight class. Baldomir – are you kidding me? Anyway, it’s just a sad state of affairs when the best won’t fight the best because of feuds between managers and promoters.Posted December 24, 2013 4:48 pm

No, no, the loss to Ped Man Marquez is what it is. This will always be a tainted victory for Ped Man Marquez because of his personal choice to hire the Ped Supplier to the USA Track and Field team. We all saw his physique, so it’s quite clear what happened. As you can see, Ped Man Marques sure wants no part of Manny or for that matter, neither does Floyd. And Floyd’s out of the ring record speaks for itself. On the other hand, Manny Pacquiao continues to be the Peoples Champion. A man that we can have future generations to be like. He has no criminal records, only records or giving and helping people. A man that has the utmost respect from not just boxing, but the world. Manny has true character, which magnifies each time he is interviewed. No insults, foul language , no bragging, boasting or showing off his money or materials. This is a genuine philanthropist that gives his money, time and love to all. Inside the ring, he is a fearless warrior. A true fighter in the sense of the word. He fights the best at their best. Manny needs only himself to cement his legacy as he has done so already. His legacy includes being called the greatest fighter of all time. Some may argue because of past greats like Robinson, Duran and others. Outside of the ring, Manny is well known for being a tremendous singer, actor, philanthropist, congressman, model, clothing designer and the most sought efter athlete in sports. Floyd on the other hand has only his criminal record to offer. Manny Pacquiao’s miraculous climb to the pinnacle of sports is surpassed only by his character as a person, and the adoration and love fans have for him. A living legend to be appreciated. Manny is the best, and he runs from no one unlike you know who. Manny is the best.Posted December 24, 2013 4:42 pm

Some fans think Money ducked a lot of fighters….he didn’t….shortly after he didn’t fight them, they disappeared. Any one that had a real prime of three or so years got fought if they wanted the fight …if they wanted the fight. ….if they happened to be in the right weight division….and to go up and down….especially down….requires a great fighter.
Konje I agree. It doesn’t matter if he fights Pac or not. The damage is done. He dodged him for years. So it don’t matter moving forward.Posted December 24, 2013 4:36 pm
Mayweather doesn’t need Pacquaio or really anyone else to secure his place in boxing. No matter what happens from this point on, it won’t erase what he’s accomplished. I agree that Arum had to match Pacquaio against Rios so that Pacquaio looked good and it ended his losing streak. At this point I’m suprised that some still want to see Pacquaio and Mayweather. That fight should have happened years ago.Posted December 24, 2013 4:32 pm

Floyd Mayweather Jr will be rememberd as a skilled boxer in the ring BUT few will talk about his “brave”, “dangerous” fights…Why you say?
Very simple answer. Its becouse there are no such fights on his record.
Cherry picking opponents + fighting for money before titles and achivments + avoiding thretning opponents and have bad excuses on overfload to not fight them + have a greedy image that money is more important then a great legacy + that money makes the man + beating up women and avoid taxes = (Trash tallant?)
Like I said I have respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr,s skills but the rest I have NON + that his fights are not that fun to watch anyway.
If Floyd Mayweather Jr never fight Manny “Pac-Man” Paquiao then most people will look back at him for not fighting, Not Paquiao as he want the fight and have no stupid excuses.
Marvin Hagler wanted Ray Leonard but Leonard kept him waiting for years until 1987.
Of course the Pactards will say yes, but the truth is, even if Floyd did fight and beat Pacquiao, these same Pactards would have abandoned their hero and looked for another fighter whom Floyd was ducking and needs to fight to secure his legacy. Sadly, a lot of so-called Pacquiao fans are Mayweatheer detractors that hate the fact he didn’t lost a fight yet. And they’re hanging on to Pacquiao because Floyd didn’t fight him yet. They know the boxing politics behind that not happening, but its not the point. The point is to use any reason possible to discredit Mayweather’s ATG boxing career. But no, Floyd doesn’t need Pacquiao at all. He’s done more than enough to make the HOF and the ATG list. The only question is where does he rank on that list, not rather should he be on it or not.Posted December 24, 2013 4:27 pm
