Joe Louis, Evander Holyfield, Rocky Lockridge, Iran barkley, Thomas Hearns, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson, Meldrick Taylor and the list goes on. Fighters come from poverty. This is the poor man’s sport. They don’t always have extensive education backgrounds. They come from nothing and all of a sudden become millionaires. They splurge on things they never had and only dreamed of having. The vultures are their promoters and managers that take advantage of them. Manny Pacquiao trusted people just like the guys I mentioned, and someone was negligent in handling his affairs that he was being paid to take care of. Sure we can say it’s partly Manny’s fault as well as the above mentioned fighters, but the the vast majority lands on the greedy, back stabbing, unethical promoters and managers. Boxing is the most corrupt sport and always has been. less than 2% of fighters in the world make any real money in boxing. I wonder why. Sugar Ray Robinson made about 4 million dollars in the ring. All but $800,000 went to his promoter and manger. This is boxing. I believe Manny will get through all of this, and he will be set for life, but others must be on guard at all times.

Joe Louis, tax, revenue, same thing, these Boxers are not bothered if they have 50 million, Lamborghinis, big houses, or enough to live on, it will get sorted out, no big deal, they are Boxers and human beings first, they don’t care about houses and cars in the garage and bling, it is not a big deal to them.

whether it be naivete, gullibility, or lack of a formal education, it all adds up to one Dumb and Delusional Mfr. not unlike the majority of his devotees. the fact that Pacquiao* was spending the entire amount that he earned is the classic red-flag of Stupid and Delusional. if he were American, he would be a flag-waving, teabag-wearing Republican or worse. that’s the alternative result of being just plain Dumb and Delusional.

Floyd shines because he fights dull fighters. He only fights guys who are inferior in handspeed, inferior in footwork, offense and defense. Even mediocre boxers can look great against cherry picked fighters. Nothing special. He avoids offensive machines for obvious reason.

Fraud Duckweather said last week … “If Manny Pacquiao gets himself to the position of mandatory challenger for my WBC 147lbs title belt I will just VACATE the belt! A belt alone doesn’t make me!”

What a pathetic champion Fraud Duckweather is.

Agreed, he is not the smartest, and on top has no education and is too trusting and generous with his money. I am pretty sure he didn’t intentionally pay no taxes; we have to wait with judgment until things are clarified. The IRS (the government) in the US often demands taxes even if not appropriate. One has too proof innocence. The IRS is criminally ruthless and targets people even if not right. Pac does not live in the US, not sure where and how much taxes he has to pay here and in the Phillipines. He can not be fully taxed in two countries…Pac needs a good lawyer and have a serious chat with Arum and who else is taking care of his taxes. Someone might have screwed up (regarding his taxes back home) and the IRS here might be busting his balIs for no good reason. We shall see…

Hidalgo, I agree that he probably did go spending crazy with such large amounts of money, and he does have to take some blame on all of this, but he did trust people to handle his financial affairs that put him in this mess. Politics is another subject, but I imagine he has plenty of other co workers that are certainly guiding him, and hopefully in the right direction. Unfortunately for Manny, he’s involved in boxing and politics which just happen to also be the most corrupt careers. There’s always someone trying to get something from you. Manny has to take a serious look at those people that are in his inner circle and make decisions on his personal life. Boxing history has a cemetery of great broke boxers that gave their all in the ring and ended up with nothing. I think manny will get through this as I’ve read some recent articles by the IRS, which point to things being worked out and all the liens taken off. Hopefully all will turn out okay, and not just for manny, but for all fighters.

“Heecomes from poverty, had no educaation, and then gets offered millions of dollars to fight. That’s a big change in someones life, and of course you have predators like Arum and others that will jump at the chance to take advantage. ”

This is true, Hec Dog. But Pacquiao is also a prominent political figure in his own country, he’s an entertainer and celebrity as well. Pac not having a formal education or higher education doesn’t mean he’s stupid, and/or that he can’t learn. He hired Arum to handle his boxing career and he hired Koncz to be his spokesman, and he hired Roach to be his trainer. The man isn’t exactly dumb as he is presently recognized as an ATG boxer.

Pac just appears to be careless with his money and financial responsibilities. He probably has every intention of paying his taxes, but financially, he just can’t keep his head above water.

Tark, I agree to some extent that Manny should have been more aware of that, but we truly don’t know what his own knowledge and education is on these type of financial matters. Heecomes from poverty, had no educaation, and then gets offered millions of dollars to fight. That’s a big change in someones life, and of course you have predators like Arum and others that will jump at the chance to take advantage. I truly hope he gets passed all of this and things workout, and he gets some smart, loyal people to look out for his best interests. As you know, Manny isn’t the first and will not be the last to go through these types of situations.

Manny Pacquiao is arguably the greatest fighter of our time. He’s definetly the most exciting, and exciting fights are what fans love. He has avoided noone, fought everyone put in front of him and went through 8 different weight classes. He acts, speak and treats people respectfully. The man is always smiling. He’s had some tough times over the last few years, but he continue to be the same jovial person that is simply a good person. There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the man. I think all boxing fans should be Manny Paacquiao fans. He’s done nothing to deserve less.

I never said he was on PEDs but all these Pac fans keep saying Marquez was on PEDs when he KOd Pac. They have no proof but I don’t see you on here saying that he wasn’t or trying to back them up. I am stating the obvious. Pac came up with reasons why he couldn’t do random testing up until the fight. He had Ariza in his corner, the moment he is gone he is ready to do the testing and the first person that he does the testing with just so happens to have Ariza in his corner for the first time. Rios has never failed a test until Ariza came into the mix. Pac was never willing to do up to fight random testing until Ariza left. Just stating the obvious.

By the way, why are you so hateful towards Pac? He is a good guy, has an exciting style. He may not be the best and makes mistakes in and outside the ring, but he is someone I personally admire. I do not like Mayweather because of his arrogance and lack of class outside the ring. He enjoys playing the bad guy and therefore should not be surprised that people want to see him lose. We all thought and still think that Pac might be that guy to beat him. However, instead of fighting Pac, Mayweather has been attacking him, mocking him, making fun of his race, etc, for years. Pac has not done any of this, he was always respectful of Mayweather. So why hate Pac and support Floyd? Because he is the better or best boxer of his era? Boxers come and go; there were better before Floyd (SRR) and there will be better after him. What boxers are remembered for, in addition to a winning record, are their personalities, that’s what makes a difference. I am sorry, but I do not see what is so admirable about Floyd except that he is an exceptional boxer and has not lost. What we will he remembered for otherwise? His love for money? Having the nickname “Money”? PPV numbers? They will be broken eventually, and there will be other athletes making more money… If I would be Floyd, I would give people what they want. Win or lose, fight the best, the most difficult and toughest fighters. Fight the best middleweight. And stop being an as$ mocking other fighters, he doesn’t need that. He doesn’t have to do that to promote fights, that’s a lame excuse. Pac and others have sold a lot of tickets without mocking other fighters. Boxers like Joe Louis, SRR, Ali, etc. in the USA, Duran in Panama, Chavez in Mexico, and Pacquiao in the Phillipines, etc, have inspired people in and outside the ring in their countries or even world. That they lost, does not matter. So far, outside the ring, Floyd is remembered for going to jail for beating up his girlfriend, and mocking/making fun of opponents. I give him credit for protecting his brain, he is not dumb, and not have gone bankrupt (so far)…

Fighters eventually lose that does not mean they have been on drugs and stopped taking them. You have no evidence. whatsoever, that Pac did ever drugs/Peds. Please be careful. In my opinion, Floyd could easily be on Peds. He is very muscular in his last fights, always looks like the bigger guy recently despite lower weight, has faster reflexes despite getting older. Wonder if he is on something illegal…we know already he is a criminal, a felon, comes from a family of felons, so would not be surprised if he would cheat…winning is for him above all. And IMO, he is a scam artist. Accusing Pac was a scam, everything is a scam about this guy except that he is truly a very exceptional, very talented boxer…

Posted December 30, 2013 2:17 pm

And now we have to start thinking that Pac was on something. Doing random blood test for the first time, does it against a fighter who currently employed for the first time the same strength and conditioning coach he had a fight prior. The same coach who he would never take random drug test unless he knew when the cut off period was. Terrible.

The legendary Manny Pacquiao beat Ped Man Marquez clearly in their third fight. I watched that fight over many times, and if you score the fight by actual scoring criteria, I gave Manny 9 rounds and Ped Man Marquez 3 rounds. I don’t think there was much of an argument. The 4th fight as we all saw, Ped Man Marquez was OBVIOUSLY on the Hereida Juice. Still, Manny was beating him down mercilessly and on the way to a stoppage until Manny stepped on Ped Man’s foot, fell off balance, and the punch landed. Lots of luck involved as well as Hereida’s help. Regardless, Manny lost the fight. Now, moving forward since then, Ped Man Marquez is finished. Bradley gave him a beating ans as ususal, the whining, crying, complaining cry baby Marquez begins his tantrums while Manny puts on a terrific display of boxing as he soundly defeats Brandon Rios, another former champion. And Manny chose to use a different style to give Rios a tremendous beating. This is Manny Pacquiao. His variety of skills has no limit. And you’ll see what I mean when he beats and maybe stops Floyd Mayweather. Always remember, a mixture of speed and power is a dangerous thing to deal with, and Floyd knows full well what I mean. Manny is the best.

HEC DOG, “we can’t all be perfect in our predictions” is correct but few are as far off as you typically are. there is NO explanation for picking Guerrero to defeat Floyd. other than your hate for “Floydie”. as far as picking Broner over Maidana, NOT “everyone else was wrong”. some of us predicted a severe reality-check for Broner and powerpunching success for Maidana. Btw, you also picked Pacquiao* to defeat Marquez in III and IV and were (once again) Gueyyy Off. however, I’m not immune to picking incorrectly, e.g., Pacquiao* v. Rios. i thought Manny* would have the courage to fight Rios toe-to-toe since Rios was coming off a loss, moving up another division, would presumably be the weaker fighter, and Pacquiao* would try and score a comeback KO win. WRONG. Manny* ran, ran, ran, flapped his wings, and hopped from ring-post to ring-post like a cowardly chicken. No KO. NO TKO. Not even a KD, which has been the case in Pacquiao’s* last four fights. face it. at 35 Manny* is on the downside of his career and at risk of overnight collapse. yet another reason why the Mayweather v. Pacquiao* matchup is no longer he mega-draw it was a couple of years ago. Team Punkuiao* have only themselves to blame for neglecting to “Step Up” when “Money” ordered and it counted.

–Negotiation To Take Place

“There are rumours on a number of boxing forums that Pacquiao has already booked a flight to the United States, and his main purpose there is to meet Mayweather personally. Moreover, there are some reports that Pacquiao will be representing only himself during the meeting, without any backings from the Top-Rank promotions.

Top-Rank locked in Pacquiao until 2014, but the Filipino slugger can enter into a negotiation with Mayweather promotions as free agent for this specific fight alone. It would be interesting to see if Pacquiao’s camp can come into terms with Mayweather to make the fight of the century happen next year.”

It doesn’t matter how Pac did against other or how Floyd did against Mosley, Castillo or ODH. When he faces Pac, it’s a new game. And if this fight happens, you guys should never ever open your mouth about anything related to boxing, because Pac would win. What makes Floyd Mayweather Jr. great?

Ask that question to anyone at your local PAL boxing gym and the answers will vary. Some would point to his shoulder roll defense technique, which other boxers of varying notes have tried to imitate to limited success. Not a few would state his right hand leads, which, though powerful and quick, constitute just one component of Mayweather’s deep arsenal.

The asset that is most responsible for Mayweather’s incredible success in the ring is one that can’t be seen in highlight reels but still keeps potential opponents awake at night.

It’s his brain.

While the undisputed pound-for-pound best boxer on the planet has been responsible for numerous bonehead moves in his personal life that have led him to numerous arrests, it is the intelligence that he has exhibited while dealing with conflict and confrontation that have allowed him to succeed at a level greater than any of his contemporaries, seventeen years into his professional career.

At age 36, Mayweather, whose career record remains unblemished at 45-0 (26 knockouts), can no longer physically dominate and bully opponents the way he had several weight classes ago. But he doesn’t need to. More often than not, they’re already beaten by the time they reach the MGM Grand locker room to switch out sneakers for boxing shoes.

The five division world champion may never reach the status of being considered the greatest fighter to grace the ring, but it’s hard to argue that he isn’t already the greatest boxer outside of it.

Take for instance his 2011 opponent Victor Ortiz, who was 10 years Mayweather’s junior. At the kickoff press conference in New York, the aptly-monickered “Money” Mayweather treated Ortiz like an employee, stating that he himself would make great money while Ortiz would make “OK money.”

And indeed Ortiz was essentially an employee, minus the 1040 form. The event’s leading promoter was Mayweather Promotions and the boss was promised a reported $25 million guaranteed before pay-per-view and other incentives. Ortiz’s take was $2 million, a respectable career-high payday, but a paltry figure in comparison. Ortiz was making the most money he had to that date only because Mayweather was allowing him to.

There was almost no confidence present in Ortiz by the time he made it to the ring. And, after almost fouling himself out of the fight with an intentional headbutt in the fourth round, Mayweather punched him out for an easy fourth-round knockout.

Similarly, Mayweather showed his pull when Robert Guerrero tried to hold out for more money in their fight in May. Mayweather took to his Twitter account to inform the world that he would be facing then-welterweight titleholder Devon Alexander instead of Guerrero, stating that “The negotiations for my fight are almost done.” Guerrero signed shortly after for a reported $3 million, while Mayweather had a reported guarantee of $32 million.

Earlier this week, Mayweather was back to his mental warfare tactics, using his @FloydMayweather Twitter account to send out a comic meme to his 4,556,216 taunting Manny Pacquiao – the man considered his greatest rival – depicting the former eight-division world champion begging for a fight with Mayweather.

Then, in the wee hours of Christmas night, Mayweather released a painting of himself landing a jab on Pacquiao’s face with the accompanying message “Now you’re telling me I got to eat Juan Marquez’s leftovers? Let me talk to the IRS about this…”

Mayweather’s jabs at the Filipino congressman’s financial problems, which include a lien against his assets in America due to an $18 million debt, are ironic, considering that he himself had issues with the tax man that prompted his own ring return in 2009 from an almost two year absence.

Still, it makes Pacquiao look weak and desperate, at least that is what Mayweather is hoping. If and when a Pacquiao fight happens (and that remains a big if) it will likely be on Mayweather’s terms and no one else’s.

Gone are the days when Pacquiao had the leverage and means to hold out for parity; his back-to-back losses in 2012 to Timothy Bradley (by hotly disputed decision) and former Mayweather opponent Juan Manuel Marquez (by knockout) have hurt his marketability in a way that will be difficult to rehabilitate.

Pacquiao has since returned with an easy decision victory over former lightweight titleholder Brandon Rios in Macau, after which Pacquiao voiced interest in making the fight.

Talk of a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is once again alive, and though it would still be the biggest fight that can be made today, it isn’t as big a fight as it could’ve been two years ago.

Pacquiao wasn’t Mayweather’s only target. Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs), who are the likeliest front-runners for Mayweather’s May 3 fight date in Las Vegas, also felt Mayweather’s social media sting with paintings depicting Floyd punching them as well.

Mayweather’s offering to the British former junior welterweight champion showed Mayweather’s image fixed over Breidis Prescott’s from the scene of Khan’s first round knockout loss to him in 2008 with the message “Just imagine what Amir ‘Con Artist’ will get if his name gets picked in the Mayweather sweepstakes.”

Maidana, who finds himself in this position after upsetting Mayweather-clone Adrian Broner, was shown eating a right hand from Mayweather accompanied by the message “Can I please order a one-piece with a biscuit? No sides.”

Fights with Maidana and Khan, who are handled by Mayweather’s business partners Golden Boy Promotions, are decidedly much easier to make than a clash with Pacquiao, who is aligned with Mayweather’s former promoter Top Rank.

Ultimately the decision will come down to whomever is willing to acquiesce the most and play the role of mouse to the Pied Piper Mayweather. When Mayweather’s next opponent is announced, Floyd will begin his campaign of reminding them how he has stood across from a similarly-motivated and capable fighter 45 times, and 45 times had turned away their challenge.

And Mayweather will likely walk away from each pre-fight encounter smiling both inside and out about his antics, which have mentally crushed opponent after opponent before the final bell.

Tomato Can my friend, we can’t all be perfect in our predictions, but let me try and explain the ones you mentioned. First, I thought Floyd would have the courage to fight Guerrero toe to toe since Guerrero was moving up two divisions and would obviously be the weaker fighter, and Floyd would try and get a ko. Wrong, Floyd ran, ran, ran. Secondly, Broner was a bit too charged up for that feather fisted, can’t beat any top fighter and big mouth Malignaggi. Broner did beat him convincingly enough. Malignaggi stinks! And as far as Maidana vs Broner is concerned , well me and everyone else was wrong. Broner really surprised me by the lack of composure he showed. I had this guy as a future great, and he really came apart. He was a lost kid in there looking for help. he let me down and made me look bad. I was wrong aabout the kid, and doubt he will make it back. trust me on Manny Pacquiao though, he will win the prospective Mega Fight vs Floyd if they ever do fight.

Manny would have Floyd Mayweather befuddled, confused and insecure after 3-4 rounds. He won’t be able to deal with Manny’s feints, speed of hand and foot and the unorthodox southpaw style. Manny’s style is much more difficult to to grasp then Floyd Mayweather’s same style he’s been using throughout his amateur and professional career. Manny is not Cotto, Baldomir, Hatton, Oscar, Canelo or any other fighter Floyd has fought. He’s better, faster, stronger and much more complicated to figure out. Floyd has no idea how Manny would fight him. By the time he begins to see figure anything out, the fight will be in the 9th or 10th round that is if he hasn’t hit the floor before then. Floyd has to worry about power. He felt Cotto’s and immediately got scared. Imagine Manny hitting him. And Manny will hit him trust me. You guys are underestimating Manny Pacquiao’s all around boxing ability as well as his athleticism and most importantly, the emotional inner strength that Roberto Duran had when he first fought Sugar Ray Leonard. it’s very difficult to beat a man on an emotional high. He will be faster, stronger, react and think quicker, and he will not be denied. Floyd has more fear of Manny than Manny has of Floyd. This fight will test them both more mentally than physically. Floyd will break, manny won’t. He’s been through the worst, Floyd will go through it in this fight, and he can’t afford to lose. When he realizes he’s in trouble and losing, he will fall apart. Manny will win this fight if it ever happen. trust me, Manny Pacquiao was meant to have this fight, and he will it.

Could it be because he was getting hit. He had Cotto on wobbly legs in the 12th. For someone that can’t punch he sure does seem to hurt a lot of fighters. Him and Forrest werent in the same weight class either. Forrest was at Jr Middle. Cotto has never been an F grade fighter

You would argue that after the Rodriguez fight. He was an f grade fighter. Floyd can’t hurt anyone accept khan, that’s why they all fight him easy pay for no K.O. Of coarse numbers were dropping he lost 2 fights one was rubbish but still a loss 94 more punches and loose. Good ol Ross

And I would argue that Cotto is a better PPV draw than Pac at this point.

He has no power, where did you get this info from? If he has no power how come nobody just walks through his punches and just beats him? Why does there punch out put fall to half of what they throw against other opponents? And PPVs mean a lot. Who cares if the fight was in China. It happened at the same time that any other fight would of happened here in the US. So why again did folks not pay to see the fight? Why has his numbers been dropping? Only one fight has been out of the US, so why where his other fights PPV numbers dropping?

Pac has clearly shown he is not the draw that he used to be. His numbers have been declining starting with the Mosley fight. He will not be able to make that sort of money against anybody, on top of that making it a PPV event. All that means is the under card will once again suck and nobody will buy the card. Just like they did against Rios, or should I say just like they didn’t do. All this talk about his tax issues is not as bad. Well he has tax issues in 2 parts of the world. Until they are cleared up, it is pretty bad.

Posted December 29, 2013 3:38 pm

Manny Pacquiao has plenty of options, he doesn’t have to fight Floyd Mayweather for anything. He can make plenty of money with the rest of the welterweights. Manny will easily make upwards of $15 million per fight outside of the mayweather fight. he’s the number 1 or 2 biggest PPV draws in boxing. Hi tax issue is currently being resolved, and it’snot as bad as the rumors had it. Manny has so many outside options to make money, so that’s not the problem. Too many people continue to think Manny hasn’t overcome the loss to Ped Man Marquez, and they think just because Manny didn’t go in and destroy Rios by ko that he’s not the same guy. Wrong! Manny Pacquiao today is just as fast and explosive as he was 5 years ago. Don’t let your emotions and dislike for Manny Pacquiao let you think he’s lost a step. Manny destroyed Brandon Rios. You might say Rios was nothing, but he was a champion, and championships don’t come easy. Floyd Mayweather knows the truth about Manny. He’s been hiding behind excuses since Manny came on the scene. Just look back and see the excuses. He conveniently has Arum as a crutch. He knows very well that his emotional feelings with Arum are not an obstacle to this fight. Floyd has more money that he will ever need. He’s simply just afraid to face Manny Pacquiao. He knows Manny’s style is a difficult one that he won’t be able to figure out in 12 rounds. trust me, Manny will beat him. The odds will be 3 to 1 for Floyd, and Mayweather will be crushed as will his fans when and if they ever fight. trust me on this, I’ve studied their styles, habits, strengths, weaknesses and challenges for each other. Manny will win without a doubt.

I agree here. There should not be any other fight next then Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Paquiao.
Paquiao is the WBC mandatory nr.1# title challanger and Mayweather Jr is obligated to defend his WBC world title or to vacate the title belt AND that is what we would call – DUCKING, AVOIDING, RUNNING AWAY etc.
With other words, if Floyd mayweather Jr want to call himself the best, he must be the champ and a true champion don’t duck a top opponent in the game.

The ball is and have always been in Mayweather Jr’s hands.

I am sure it angers you Pac fans that he is using the same logic all of you are using. I don’t want to see him fight Khan either but Khan is coming off 2 wins as opposed to Pacs 2 losses and a win.

So, te tumbo, if it’s gonna be that easy for Floyd Duckweather, he should schedule a 2014 bout with Manny then. Floyd is an insecure cherry-picking prime boxer-dodging smoke n mirrors marketing fraud. Lost to Castillo. Good boxer, even great you could say, just not a true boxing legend.

TC, IMO no matter what the odds are, the potential of a Pacquiao* win is nothing more or less than an illusion. however, even i might be tempted to bet on 1,000-1 odds(?) but i would also be 99.999% certain that my $1-$1,000 bet had just vanished. IMO, only an authentic miracle could possibly result in a Pacquiao* win. anything less, results in the logical and predictable lopsided win in Mayweather’s favor.

Manny is still very interested in fighting Floyd. So fkn what?! Does that make the fight more likely to happen? No. Arum will put him Pacquiao in with Bradley next, then Provodnikov, and then make another attempt to make Pacquiao-Marquez V. Q-vo EZ E. whether Manny* is already “finished” or not, he would look completely finished if he dares step into the same boxing ring as Floyd Mayweather. it’s a 380 degree size and styles mismatch in Floyd’s favor. what is NOT going to happen but would need to happen is for Pacquiao* to execute a Maidana on Mayweather. he’ll have to try but will be stopped in his tracks and mercilessly dismantled for every round the ref or his corner allow the torment to continue. i’m talking bolts flying from joints and dings being pounded into Manny’s ribs and face in unrelenting fashion. indeed, once Floyd realizes how easy it is he won’t want to stop the bumrush out of Boxing’s elite ranks of fighters. it would be Mayweather’s crowning moment. equal to Marquez’s over the same overrated victim.

Manny has done great things in the sport. The excitement he brought into fights was top notch. But right now if the fight were signed what would the odds be? 5-1 Mayweather? If Pac were to get through Bradley, like he should, he’ll decrease the odds to something more appealing…

TOMATO CAN, Pacquiao* at 10-1 is prohibitive odds even for those Pacquiao* fans or Floyd-Haters who might bet with their hearts. even at 50-1, the most dedicated gambler has to know that his $100 just vanished. it is unfathomable that Pacquiao* could defeat Mayweather in a 2014 matchup. Floyd remains fresh and well-preserved. Pacquiao* is at least worn if not damaged and at 35 risking overnight collapse himself. the outcome of Mayweather v. Pacquiao* is even more predictable than Holyfield v. Tyson. God bless them but only the biggest-hearted fans would dare bet on Pacquiao*.

TUMBO!! Q-VO!! Like I said as well, Floyd is not actually expecting Pac to leave Floyd. It’s part of his mind game. Is he trying to brake Manny down a bit mentally?? Or trying to use that issue to force Manny to make concessions in other points that will also be part of the negotiations? How serious are Manny’s money problems?? That’s another issue that floyd will undoubtedly want to exploit. Like I already said, I’m not saying that Manny will defeat Floyd. I’m just signaling the hindrances for this fight not taking place. A couple of years ago I predicted that it WOULDN’T happen and by the looks of things.. no matter how close it gets to becoming a reality there’s always ‘something new’ to address. I just want to see it before Manny drops off the radar or any excuses(eg.: Manny was finished, Floyd punked out, Arum said this, Ellerbe said that, New Super Duper Random Testing, Floyd goes back to jail for assault & battery on another parking attendant, bouncer, girlfriend or Priest, Nun, Cop, transvestite… or whatever. Getting sick of this chicken and his excuses for ducking. First it was he was deathly afraid of needles and would not do random testing. He would rather fight clottey for $6 million than take a series of drug tests and split with mayweather a 50/50 purse that would have easily exceeded 60 million. That’s going to go down as the most foolish and cowardice decissions in the history of sports. He again ducked earlier in the year turning down a $40 million dollar payday to fight for significantally less falsely believing he deserved 50/50 even though his ppv numbers and p4p status dont come close to mayweathers. There’s a reason he has to fight in China. North America is tired of watching him fight handpicked guys like Rios, an overrated weight drained shot margarcheato or well past his prime already beaten by mayweather and Mora fighter like Mosley. At least mayweather fought Mosley coming off one of his best career wins when he knocked out margarcheato.

Now Pac is hiding behind his promotor. We all know that Pac is at a point in his career where his popularity is fading badly and desperately in need of money. Why not dump his promotor and work directly with golden boy and mayweather promotions. He will surely take a loss being thoroughly outclassed but at least he’ll get a career high payday and more respect for not ducking the best p4p fighter of the last 20 years.

Posted December 29, 2013 1:27 pm

Tomato Can

These Pac fans want everything for Pacquiao even though he’s no longer a ranked top p4p fighter. Manny’s a fight or two away from rebounding from his back to back losses. Manny should fight Bradley IMO, beat him impressively, by fighting every minute of each round instead of taking it easy. Once he does that, he’ll be ranked as a top p4p fighter, like he should be. Then the odds will rise in his favor a bit maybe something like 5-3 in favor of Mayweather.

Let’s say this fight does happen, what would the odds be for such a fight??? Mayweather 3-1; 4-1; 5-1? A lost of fans seem to think with their hearts. Sure it’s would be a great night if Manny beat Mayweather if you have money on Manny, but I wouldn’t bet on it…

Posted December 29, 2013 1:20 pm

WHOCARES, Pacquiao* couldn’t KO Rios. he couldn’t KO Bradley. he couldn’t KO a 39-year-old Marquez at 147lbs. in fact, he pot-shotted his way to a scorecard nod; fought 30 secs a round to lose a scorecard nod; and was KTFO in the most BRUTAL KO in Boxing history. all of this in just the last couple of years during which Manny* had to take an entire year off. what about Pacquiao’s* recent boxing history makes you think that he can even touch Mayweather? or that Bradley, Ruslan, Marquez, Alvarado, or Rios could? Pacquiao* is not in Mayweather’s league, which we’ll see IF he ever dares confirm a matchup v. Mayweather on “Money’s” terms. after all, during the same two-year span, Floyd’s remained Undefeated and #1 P4P. I Agree. the Truth is pretty “funny”.

Posted December 29, 2013 1:04 pm

te tumbo

Q-Vo EZ. Mayweather demanding that Pacquiao* dump Arum is just a negotiating ploy. what Floyd is really demanding is that Pacquiao* not enable Arum’s promotional antics to sabotage confirming this matchup. we can all only blame Arum to a degree. at some point, it is Pacquiao’s* responsibility to take a stand or remain a passenger on his own boat. when he doesn’t, we can only conclude that Arum Aaand Pacquiao* are on the same page of their bu$iness plan that reveals what their primary loyalty has always been. anyway, hope you’re enjoying a firme holiday season. of course Pacquiao* is still interested in Mayweather. he’s BROKE(?!) and only “Money” can attract paying fight-fans to the mega-$howdown that Pacquiao* is now desperate to confirm. however, considering that a Floyd v. Manny* matchup would be a predictably anticlimactic and lopsided UD for Mayweather and that Pacquiao* has already cost Floyd millions with his inexplicable stalling and promotional antics at key moments of previous negotiations, he’s worth no more than a guaranteed $5-10 million for a shot at Mayweather. Manny* can dictate purse-splits in a rematch AFter he defeats Floyd, which would revive legitimate suspense that simply doesn’t exist for a first matchup. of course, NObody believes that Pacquiao* can defeat Mayweather even once. conversely, Mayweather’s win would be no less convincing than Marquez’s KO win. the cruel difference will be that Pacquiao* will be awake for every minute that the ref or his corner allow the beatdown to continue. i have never been more confident of a bout’s outcome. neither has Team Pacquiao*, which is why they’re determined to be paid in full for the first and last time that Pacquiao* will ever be allowed into the same boxing ring as Mayweather.

Yeah I am not denying that. But I think there was bad blood between them and that is why he left. Think about this, when Floyd was with Top Rank, Floyd was considered the best boxer ever, Arum said he was gonna be a great fighter. As soon as he left Arum had nothing but negative things to say about Floyd. Now why is that, he was supposed to be a great fighter. So there are issues they have between them. I have no clue what they are. But apparently it is enough to where they don’t want to do business with each other.

PEEJ, you have to admit Floyd’s career was efficiently jump-started by Arum, there’s no denying that fact. He was already known to the boxing world when he left Arum and then he took himself to the next levels.

This is my thing. All Pac had to do was agree to the random testing up until the fight. Call Floyds bluff. If Pac would of done that instead of coming up with some terrible excuses then it would of been different. Then we would of known Floyd was ducking Pac. But in hind sight it looked like Pac was ducking Floyd considering he just did the random testing with Rios. He had no fear of needles, didn’t make him weak and obviously he wasn’t superstitious about the whole thing. Floyd is going off his principles and is not wanting to enter in negotiations against Arum. Call it pride, who knows. But as it is now, Pac needs to leave Arum. Doesn’t even have to leave, just don’t have him in this negotiation but he can still pay Arum his promotional fee which is an outlandish 26%.

PEEJ Your opinions do have merit, no doubt. But who’s to say that even if Pac would’ve agreed to random testing with no cut off date that Floyd wouldn’t have come up with MORE conditions like he’s doing now?? Yes, maybe I’m being a bit too critical of Floyd but.. maybe I’m not, especially if we consider these recent turn of events. It’s clear that Floyd deserves the larger share, even Manny accepts that fact. Will Floyd OVER price himself?? hmmm… Would you put it past him?? Honestly?? No, I’m sure nobody would. Anyway, what matter does Arum make as long as Floyd gets the share that he wants?? Or.. it is just another excuse?? Did you actually want to see the Floyd vs Guerrero fight? Everyone knew that ‘The Ghost’ didn’t stand a “snowball’s chance in hell” to defeat Floyd, right? How “anxious” are we all to see Floyd “risk” his ’0′ against Khan?? Floyd built his name up on his own. He wasn’t selling PPVs like Oscar when he left. As a matter of fact he bought his own contract out for like 600 thousand. Floyd didn’t like being under Top Rank and I am sure it had to do with Money.

Cotto didn’t leave Arum soley for the Mayweather fight. His contract ran out and Cotto knew that he no longer had to give Arum a share of his earnings. He knew that, with the help of Arum, he had built up a big enough Box Office/PPV name to promote himself, as did Oscar and Floyd before him. Actually, he almost left Top Rank before signing their last 3 fight contract extension prior to the Yuri Foreman fight, remember?

Let me ask you this, how many fights have you heard of where the negotiations went back and forth 4 times? I have seen them revision negotiations maybe twice to make a fight. But after that if it doesn’t get made then it don’t get made. They could of made this fight back in the day with ease. All they had to do was agree to random testing with no cut off date. All this Pac needs to join TMT is dumb and is all talk. Floyd deserves the bigger piece of the pie because he sells more than Pac. He will have to agree to the random testing and he will not be able to have Arum in the promotion or negotiations.

PEEJ ahhhh…. Again with all due respects, at first I tended to mainly blame the Pac team for this fight not happening. That was then but.. now?? hmmm.. I quite don’t see things that way anymore. Floyd has come up with a half dozen different excuses/conditions/”reasons” that kind’a now lay most of the blame on him. Is it that Floyd is winding down his career and isn’t likely to take any unnecessary risks?? Should Manny dump Arum only to have Floyd DEMAND another half dozen conditions?? Would you?? Honestly?? Oh well, peace!

Doubt that. The fight will get made with out Arum just like the Cotto fight was made. Floyd will then proceed to whoop Pac and then more excuses will come out about why Pac should of never been in the ring with Floyd in the first place. URONE2 I get where you’re coming from and your points are valid. But let’s not forget it was the Mayweather team that contacted Cotto, not the other way around. I was told this personally by Cotto’s legal adviser a month before the fight was officially announced. I guess it’s all about priorities and right now it surely doesn’t seem that facing Pacquiao is not one of Floyd’s priorities. Will Manny leave Arum?? I don’t think Manny is that type of individual, if you understand where I’m coming from. He’s been loyal to the Bobfather and I don’t believe that will change. What difference does it make as long as Floyd gets the $hare that satisfies him?? Or.. it is just another one of the many excuses that we’ve heard from BOTH sides in the past. Most of the reasons for this fight not to happen have disappeared, now it’s all about Floyd INSISTING/DEMANDING that Manny leave Arum?? hmmm… Does he hate Arum that much to turn his back on the BIGGEST purse in the history of sports? ($50-60 mil!!) Or is it that NO money is enough to fight Pacman?? We all know that Floyd cherishes his ‘O’ and potential legacy more that he does women. Does he want to wait until Pac fights Bradley to see what Manny has left in his tank? I repeat, I’m not saying that Manny defeats Floyd, it’s not the case. It’s about Floyd repeating that he wants to give the fans what they want and not delivering. FLOYD vs PACQUIAO is what practically ALL FANS WANT!! Is there any doubt?? Peace to URONE2, peace to all!!

Floyd may be set in terms of $’s but he won’t be remembered as one if the greatest. Only someone who dodged the best, and manipulated terms for (and beat) the rest.

If this is the real Floyd Mayweather Sr do me a fovour. Can you please see other Sarcoidosis sufferers and advise them on how to cope with the illness. My friend died of this disease. I believe fitness is the key to survival.

Maywather Sr.

I’m just saying that if he didn’t do it then I’m glad that he didn’t do it. I’m glad to see that he didn’t do it, that way he may get a fight with the person where he can make what he needs to make, and clear up some of his bills.
I’m just telling you right now that it’s very, very good that whatever he was doing before that he was getting all these outstanding knockouts, hitting everybody, fighting middleweights and all that. It just shows you right here, he had a guy he could hit all night long and the guy couldn’t even fight, plus the guy had drugs in him.
I’m telling you, that’s the way life is. The guy couldn’t fight at all and Pacquiao still didn’t get him out, it wasn’t meant for Pacquiao to get him out because like you said, Pacquiao came back clean this time. If he was clean all the other times, he wouldn’t be where he’s at today, he wouldn’t be talking about fighting my son right now if he hadn’t been doing what he was doing back a while ago. Now if he wants to fight my son clean like he is, he’s gonna get his ass whooped, simple.

Lara has a better chance than Pac to beat Floyd with no promotional obstacles. If the fans whined as much as they do about Floyd not fighting Pac and make a case for Lara we might actually get a competent opponent in there instead of Khan or Maidana.

Hell I would be interested in fight Floyd too if I woke up 68 million in the whole with the IRS. I would take any drug test he wanted, you never want to tangle with uncle sam he is undefeated lol… And regardless of a fight with Floyd Manny is in a fight right now for his life and everything he worked for. Its a same he hook up with a snake like Arum…

Reality is Top rank needs to be out of the picture for it to Happen. I wonder when Mannys contract is up with Arum and how much longer does he have. Hopefully after finding out he was 68 million in back taxes he is wising up and taking control of whats left of his short career for the little time he has left. But the clock is running out. I think it will eventually happen only if two thing happen Manny gets wins against worthy tough fighters unlike the Rios of boxing, and he leaves top rank. Bradley rematch would be interesting because I seriously doubt if Manny can dominate him or in fact knock him out. And Ruslan is his old Sparring partner. Arum is screwing Manny over big time. Floyd, Garcia even Miadana could be huge fights for Pac, and the reality is no one is remotely interested in seeing him fight Bradley or Ruslan

Really……not happening until 2015 until manny is longer with Toprank? Who would have thought? Manny has 2 keep winning 2014 so theres still interest. Bradley and Ruslan both are no easy wins 4 manny, especially after the KO. Manny wont fight Ruslan? Whos a ducker? Manny vs Ruslan could b a war, while it lasts anyways…..some1s getting KTFO.

EZ E,

I understand all that you are saying but with all of that said. Arum made the announcement that Pacquiao was ready for Mayweather and that Mayweather should contact him. Why would Mayweather contact him when Mayweather is the champ and bigger draw and then a week later annouces Pacquiao’s April date……Hmmm that’s a media blitz if I ever saw one. It worked look at all of the sights talking up Mayweather Pacquiao again, with no chance of them fighting each other until maybe September. Nothing has come close to even saying that will happen. Arum is one slick cat Pacquiao PVP number should come up now!!!

Honestly, i really think Pac wants the fight. He knows arum wont do business with floyd. Pacs options are ruslan; whom he said he wouldnt fight, and bradley, whom he said doesnt bring in enough money. Marquez already said hes not fighting him so he has two options. One, buy out his contract and become a free agent and use MP Promotions to do his fights. Or Two, sign an extention with Top rank and continue being stagnant.

Arum has built mannys career, but look what is happening now. He has tax problems and his ppv numbers have dropped. Even floyds fight with guererro did better (875,000). Pac needs to leave Arum. When he does the fight will happen.

URONE2 With all due respects but… WHY should Manny wait around when Floyd has made it PERFECTLY clear that he has NO interest whatsoever in facing Pacman. Keep in mind that these mega PPV fights are planned and finalized months in advance, not overnight. All the hype, stipulations, promotional tours, Cable TV All access & 24/7 shows, concessional agreements, sponsors, alternate sponsors, commercial endorsements, PPV transmissions contracts vary form country to country, and other variables too many to mention. They BOTH have deadlines. Floyd seems content trying to shove Khan down the throats of the fans and Showtime, a fight that nobody actually wants, much like the Guerrero fight, who had a snowball’s chance in hell to defeat Floyd. How anyone bought into the hype for that one was wwaaaaayyyyy beyond me. Peace!

I just read the title and skipped the article after the last one by this writer. I’m sure is his interested that’s why his promoter booked him for April, instead of leaving it open for negotiations with Mayweather. That’s the way to prove you really want the fight. Have any of you ever heard the term actions speak louder than words, Arum and Pacquiao are saying one thing and do something entirely different. Their actions prove the mention of Mayweathers name is to draw a following for Pacquiao which he lose when he was KO’d by Marquez.

Manny Pacquiao’s days of delving into drugs and smashing strings of groupies may be long gone, but the born again Christian boxer is said to be left with a tight bond to one of his former extramarital smash buddies. The Filipino fighter is father to a secret love child , Manny told me himself, while his wife was right there. His wife was very rude to all females in the room. You’d think being the wife of a man who’s a celebrity, she would conduct herself better. She’s a b*tch.

He told me about the boy while were playing a game of chess — he wasn’t good. He was all about the attack, not thinking of his next move on the board.

Manny is pushing, he’s constantly taking about Jesus, hoping to gather more Christian followers

There is Joy in Senior Floyd
There is fun in his mold
As every mold have gold
A plated one in every fold…
‘Cause Hatton will hold,
A style need not told…

In the fight night On 2nd May
A poet’s face will be in dismay
After the 1st round
Sr’s fighter will go astray
A target open like a field
Peppered and battered
Lying on the canvas
Like a stack of hay
For Senior’s pride,
It is there to stay,

No matter what,
He’s the best trainer
On top of a fallen fighter
History he can’t alter
His piece of work
You cant falter

He’ll blame the booze
And, too, the wizard of oz
What a stir in a coffee
A coffee with moose
Next in line…
He’ll be with his son
Together they’ll
Show some sound,
In fight night, show some snooze

the humble man…Manny…
the magnum opus of Freddie…
secured in the books…
of boxing history…
one thing I’ve learnt
in life and all the way,
there is always a price
for every humility

surely, when Money May,
doth come back
the stars will align…
as the whole nation pray,
the boxing world watch
senior readeth his poetic line
lo and behold he cant match
as the true King stand
the power he can’t catch

Hail Your King

If Pacquiao wants to get a chance to fight Mayweather he first needs to beat Bradley convincingly; then KO Golovkin and Kovalev; then beat both Klitschkos the same night. If he can do all that, agree to a 20%/80% split in Mayweather’s favour, leave Bob Arum and join Mayweather promotions, and agree to any test that Mayweather ever asks him to take, then, just maybe, he will get a chance at fighting Floyd. Until then, it’s Amir Khan or Gavin Rees.

Oh come on now, knock it off. Pacquiao is just not on Mayweather’s level. Let’s get serious: Floyd needs to fight either Amir Khan or Gavin Rees next, then have a rematch with Ricky Hatton to seal his legacy. Sure. Hatton will have to shrink down to 147lb from his current weight of 230lb, but that can be done, and these are the only three names in the mix as far as I’m concerned.

Losing patience!

Watched Mayweather v Guerrero & Pac v Rios today. Both were very quick and far better boxers but noticed Floyd dont throw more than 1 or 2 punches at a time although nearly every punch is accurate then grabs hold when ever inside. Pac throws punches in bunches and are all solid and punch output far higher.Floyds thinking defence even before he has thrown a punch and Pac dont mind taking one to land five. Watching Floyd was like watching a small Vlad Klitchko with lots of spoiling tactics and getting away with far too much holding.Pac is like a Modern day version Roberto Duran.I dont know who would win but are both Gr8 in their own way but lean towards Pac outworking Floyd if Floyds past fights are anything to go by.Pac would reveal whether Floyd has more gears to go up to because he would need to, plus his chin would get proper tested.Even if Pac loses he brings out the best Floyd we have seen as Floyd would be forced to work harder but the fight needs to happen next as this time next year they are probably both too old.

Manny doesn’t need Mayweather at all. He has plenty of other fights that he can make money on. His legacy is cemented as he has already been voted Fighter Of The Decade and arguably the greatest fighter of all time. He’s the only 8 division champion ever, and he has a million things outside of the boxing ring. Manny Pacquiao can make plenty of money, and his tax issues will be resolved. Sure it would be nice to make big money with Mayweather, but it’s not a necessity. All Manny wants is the fight. Manny Pacquiao is the best.

Thanks to Bob Arum, Pacquaio’s career is stagnant. No one wants to see him “fight” Bradley and that will never be a PPV event. Arum also knows that Provodnikov will beat Manny’s ass. If Arum even suspects that Pacquaio will not renew his contract in 2014, then look for Arum to throw Pac in there with Provodnikov. If or when that fight happens, Pacquaio will be very damaged goods and reduced to nothing more than a “gatekeeper” if he’s able to fight after that beating. Mayweather doesn’t need Pacquaio or anyone else. He’s set for life regarding $$, so it’s very easy for him to sit back, wait, and dictate terms. Arum knows this.
