*chad dawson has his cardPosted December 31, 2013 8:23 pm
peej-let me serve up a light heavy boxing lesson so u can have things accurately in perspective. hopkins is not number one at lhw he is not even number two in fact chad dawni has hopkins card is in his pocket and dawsons destroyed. to imply kovalev is running from a 50 year old who’s card is owned by the destroyed chad johnson is nothing short of air headed and your only evidence is “hopkins said so” hour a joke that omits the reality of the lhw division. kovalev has adonis running scared and kovalev has been calling everyone out but u claim he has dodged hopkins. your an airhead nobody subscribes to that view thats hiw u can tell you are an airhead airhead. there is not anyone on any boxing site and no professional who agrees with u in fact most think hopkins is dodging both adonis and kovalev and feel they are way too much risk for hopkins. your a delusional clownPosted December 31, 2013 8:17 pm
Rasputin… “Boxtradamus, B Red and PEEJ are all retarded.”
Correct.Posted December 31, 2013 5:53 pm
No problem Bulawayo,
Have a happy new year!Posted December 31, 2013 5:14 pm
Boxtradamus, B Red and PEEJ are all retarded. Kathy Duva and Kovalev are infinitely more trustworthy sources than liar Hopkins. Hopkins has told more lies than Boxtradamus over the years. He’s been sued for libel by his old promoter. He’s faked more injuries than the Italian national football team. The guy is as dishonest as the day is long. He even swore to his own mother on her death bed that he’d hang up his gloves for good by the time he reached his 40th birthday. But he’s telling the truth here? Sure he is.
Kovalev will fight anyone at 175 and he’s proven he’s prepared to travel to do it. Why do you think he fought Sillakh on Stevenson’s undercard in Canada and then called him out immediately after the fight? Stevenson clearly doesn’t want it. He wants the big money fights apparently, which is why he’s now fighting mega big money no title belt Fonfara in his next fight of course.Posted December 31, 2013 2:18 pm

Pascal wouldn’t last a round against Kovalev.Posted December 31, 2013 1:07 pm
Hey Bulawayo, that’s not what I’m insinuating. I’m saying the other MW belt holders are running from GGG.
Just to be clear, I think GGG should unify (if possible) MW division, not fight Kovalev. IMO, Kovalev is the man at LHW and I’m implying he’s the avoided man in his division.
Apologies for any confusion.

There are plenty of racists to go around. They come in all colors.
Just because you’re calling somebody else a racist doesn’t mean you’re not a racist yourself. If somebody’s skin color doesn’t mean a damned thing to you you’re not a racist. If you think you’re better because you’re a certain color, you’re a racist, flat out.Posted December 30, 2013 5:21 pm
Sounds like minster and b hop are racist, just because some white dude said something rascist dosent even it out. They both are then.Posted December 30, 2013 4:43 pm
B Red.., You’re a brain dead moron. Why doesn’t Hopkins say he will unify with Kovalev or Stevenson??? Because he won’t fight them you idiot.
And Stevenson and Kovalev fought on the same card and smashed their less than world beating opponents. Kovalev fought the much better boxer and puncher on the night — and said he wanted “Adonis.”
Stevenson made every excuse in the book and refused to say he wanted to fight Kovalev… He said he wants Hopkins or Froch… Right.Posted December 30, 2013 4:42 pm
cleverly was the next best flavor. if kovalev is a paper champ, he is a good paper champ. pascal still in sour grapes over hopkins.Posted December 30, 2013 1:34 pm
Kovalev is a monster and will probably clean up the division if the let him to. However, he’s yet to fight a well-rounded boxer though by no fault of his own.Posted December 30, 2013 1:11 pm
BEARS IS A RACIST
Bears, you silly moron. In 1980 Alan Minter said, “No black man is going to take my title,” before he got steamrollered by Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
“Pascal hasn’t fought a live body in 2 years since his loss to Hopkins in 2011.”
I guess Kuzemski and Blades were dug up from their graves somewhere.Posted December 30, 2013 11:21 am
Bears you are the idiot. So easy to prove your theories wrong. And you also apparently can’t read. You act like Kovalev was all over the Hopkins fight after saying he wanted to fight Hopkins, then he became the mandatory but went in a different direction to get the fight with Cleverly. Sorry but he was mandatory and could of taken that spot since Hopkins already said he was gonna fight his mandatory fighter. Bears once again you are an idiotPosted December 30, 2013 11:04 am
Hopkins avoided Sergei Kovalev and it’s clear to see. If Bernard wanted the fight, it would have happened. It can happen in 2014…if Bernard wants it. Bernard Hopkins has been around a long time. The man is pushing 50 and might get badly hurt by a prime hard-hitting Kovalev. I don’t blame Benard really, he’s smart. Good businessman.Posted December 30, 2013 8:41 am
I still think his KO shots are down to him using Cleto Reyes gloves, others should be using them against him.Posted December 30, 2013 6:15 am
Hey Krusher KO this mouthpiece!Posted December 30, 2013 6:13 am
Tark is bang on the money here. Cleverly is better than a lot of posters here think and he had the balls to fight Kovalev ( unlike some MW belt holders r.e. GGG) . Sure, he got dismantled, but Kovalev is something else.
As boxing fans should we not just enjoy his skills and scary power?Posted December 30, 2013 5:50 am

peej is an idiot. he is actually implying team hopkins has been all over a fight with kovalev and team kovalev dodged. this wanna be ahould be banned for being an utter idiot. lol. team kovalev is the only ones being dodged at light heavy by EVERYONE AND ITS WELL KNOWN. black adonis and black hopkins r running from white kovalev. (have to put it in color for team peej, bred , and sredmond) hopkins is ducking adonis and kovalev. his 50 year old brain would get scrambled he wouldnt just ooose to a whiteboy. it would spell total destruction at the hands o a “whiteman” and we all know thats a nightmare of hopkins he will do everything he can to not fight serg as he has done. kovalev is number as evidenced by adonis running and dodging pascal and adonis cant be viewed as better til he fights the beat lightheavy in the world kovalev. i cant believe how idiotic peej is though. wow.Posted December 30, 2013 1:27 am
It’s always the same guys, Peej, B Red, SRed, Boxtra, telling BS lies for the black race. Why can’t you enjoy boxing on a broader level than Black Americans? Hopkins didn’t want Kovalev and name dropped him AFTER the Cleverly fight was signed. Get the facts, you make yourselves look thoroughly stupid to us in the know. Enjoy the boxing, enjoy the sublime FMJ skills, enjoy the sleek accuracy of Rigo, enjoy the thunderous power of Kovalev, enjoy the prey hunting of GGG, enjoy the hugging of Klitschko…..OK maybe not that.Posted December 30, 2013 12:57 am

Untested? Cleverly wasn’t a champ? Pascal must still be punch drunk from getting beat up on by a guy inching toward 50.Posted December 29, 2013 10:27 pm
Jean, Cleverly was a fine champion and Kovalev beat him. Cleverly could probably beat you. Sorry Jean but that how I see it.Posted December 29, 2013 9:50 pm
lame for pascal to say this after Kovalevs impressive year.Posted December 29, 2013 8:30 pm
Kovalev is the BEST but that does not remove the FACT that he ducked Hopkins. He had a choice to either face Hopkins or Cleverly and he chose the EASIER and probably more profitable Fight. That’s a smart business decision as this isn’t only a Sport it’s a PROFESSION. There’s not many times where guys take LESS money instead of MORE money in their chosen professions. But again that does not erase the FACT that Kovalev chose to duck Hopkins for Cleverly…..and don’t give ME that BULL that Kovalev was already deep into negotiations with Cleverly because Haye was deep into negotiations with Vitali TOO. But at the last minute he signed to face Valuev. Just as Kovalev could have done when Hopkins SAID that he was going to face his mandatory at the last minute. SO save the WEAK excuses for KIDS silly rabbit.Posted December 29, 2013 7:42 pm
the whipping kovalev will put on pascal if they ever meet will be unprecedentedPosted December 29, 2013 7:37 pm
Actually once he became the mandatory Hopkins said he would fight him. Especially since he said he was gonna obligate his mandatory fight.Posted December 29, 2013 7:22 pm
How much you asking for the bridge your selling Fight off lol made me laugh that!Posted December 29, 2013 7:08 pm
“Kovalev went for the Cleverly fight only after it was obvious Hopkins didn’t want to negotiate in good faith. Cleverly did. Hopkins fought a bum mandatory…” – TARK is correct. People forget that early this year everyone presumed Bhop would duck Kovalev. Bhop never once mentioned Kovalev’s name until hours before Kovalev-Cleverly was announced, claiming in a press release he’d fight Kovalev. Note the fight was already signed = Bhop ploy to pretend he wanted to fight Kovalev. That’ standard media manipulation people. If you’re gullible to fall for it please send money for the bridge I’m selling.Posted December 29, 2013 6:35 pm
Well, Jean, please do your best to convince “a champion” to get into the ring with Kovalev. Sergey wants them for opponents, but they don’t want Sergey as an opponent. So, once again, Jean Pascal, please do your best to convince Stevenson and Hopkins to get in the ring and fight Kovalev. Please.Posted December 29, 2013 6:27 pm
B Red.., I have all my mental faculties… You have late stage Alzheimer’s and are practically brain dead… as anyone can tell from your posts.
Kovalev went for the Cleverly fight only after it was obvious Hopkins didn’t want to negotiate in good faith. Cleverly did. Hopkins fought a bum mandatory who Cleverly stopped easily and B-Hop couldn’t take him out.
The biggest money fights Hopkins could make would be Kovalev or Stevenson—and you know damned well he won’t fight either of them. He’ll only fight 2nd tier bums from here on out.
You also know Kovalev specifically named Stevenson as the fighter he wanted to fight next … and Kovalev is the last fighter Adonis wants to fight, even though it’s the most logical fight out there.Posted December 29, 2013 6:17 pm
The guy Kovalev was an undefeated champion so Pascal’s statement is off target. But if he wants to step up I’m sure Kovalev would love to smash in his face like he has everyone else’s. Good name to scratch off.Posted December 29, 2013 6:08 pm
No, as Duva explained, it had become very clear to her that Hopkins wasn’t at all interested and that if they’d waited around she got the distinct impression he was going to dump his belt and fight Cleverly instead. So they took the Cleverly fight instead because it was a guaranteed title shot against a standing champion. The first thing Kovalev said to Duva when he sighed for Main Events was ”get me a title shot as soon as possible”.
Duva is an infinitely more trustworthy source than ex-con liar Hopkins, who has a history of falling out with everyone and telling porkies. He even lied to his own mother on her death bed for goodness sake.Posted December 29, 2013 5:59 pm
So basically they went the other way when they where the mandatory. That is basically what she said. Didn’t sound like they wanted the fight. Should of made an offer. Instead they took the road with an easier opponent. There is nothing wrong with that especially fighting for a title. But he did have the option to fight Hopkins but didn’tPosted December 29, 2013 5:44 pm
Regarding Kovalev fighting Cleverly instead of Bernard Hopkins
youtube.com/watch?v=rk5XiTnUahkPosted December 29, 2013 5:37 pm
Kovalev KO’d Gabriel Campillo aka Tavoris’ Cloud and Beibut Shumenov’s daddy, who were the IBF and WBA reigning champions respectively when Campillo beat them in everyone bar the judges eyes. That means Kovalev knocked out the reigning unified WBA and IBF champion in three rounds, who hadn’t lost in five years legitimately, and then stopped the previously undefeated reigning WBO champion in four rounds in his backyard. So the untested Kovalev is really the WBA/IBF and WBO unified championPosted December 29, 2013 5:34 pm
Absolutely B RedPosted December 29, 2013 4:48 pm
Pascal did get a win against Hopkins. Granted he lost in the rematch and he beat Dawson. Both big fights.Posted December 29, 2013 4:37 pm
Every fighter in kovelev position for the most part is at a stage and or level there at because thats how it work’s.
If a boxer makes his first appearance as a professional, some fans will question why he hasent beat the champion and discount him and make fun of the fighter and claim he has no talent because his resume dosent resemble that of a veteran fighter.
How could it ?
Stop writing history before it even happens.
Some fans get way ahead of themselvesPosted December 29, 2013 4:33 pm
Pascal is just giving his opinion about Kovalev , there’s nothing wrong with that . Pascal has fail when put in the big fights but that does not mean he doesn’t know what he is talking about . Pascal knows boxing even though he himself is not a great fighter . Just look at all the boxing commentators were they any good at fighting ! yet people listen to them .Posted December 29, 2013 4:31 pm
What happened to Pascal vs Bute?Posted December 29, 2013 4:28 pm

Kov vs pascal? After pascal knocks out kov this will be a great fight but I’m guessing pascal will go for a Canadian super fight with Stevenson which will be good also. I’m thinking kov will also be a side stept fighterPosted December 29, 2013 4:20 pm
It’s easy to say when you watch the action… Kovalev hit Sillakh with 5 straight jabs to the abs.. and easily avoided each counter attempt.. He was playing with a super fast guy … with success.Posted December 29, 2013 4:20 pm
Hard to say someone was out boxed when it only lasted a round and a half. His chin was the main suspect and that showed when he was stopped in his first loss.Posted December 29, 2013 4:01 pm
Kovalev is well tested.., The last 3 guys he beat had combined records of 68-2 … and he destroyed them with little effort.
Sergei easily destroyed 26-0 Nathan Cleverly in Cleverly’s backyard. Cleverly won 6 Light Heavyweight Championship fights and beat 2 guys who were mandatory challengers for Hopkins and Stevenson. Sergei also blitzed Ismayl Sillakh—a brilliant boxer and hard puncher who Roy Jones was very high on. Sillakh seems to have a bad chin, but he was outboxed as well.
The only trouble Kovalev faces is Boxing politics. Stevenson and Hopkins do not want to fight him. It’s a problem similar to the one Golovkin faces in the middleweight division… Martinez and Quillin are not going to fight GGG.
But these 2 guys are easily the best fighters in their respective divisions.Posted December 29, 2013 3:57 pm
Freddie Roach Ate My Hamster
He has a point in that Cleverly is Kovalev’s highest ranked victim and Cleverly’s not lived up to his early promise. Pascal’s claim to fame will always be that he was the first to beat Chad Dawson and infamy for being beaten by 46 year old Hopkins.Posted December 29, 2013 3:56 pm

Having a title doesn’t get you the best names in the division. He is a beast though and I like to see him fight.Posted December 29, 2013 3:41 pm
Now that he has a title, Kovalev will hopefully be able to meet some of the very best names in 2014.Posted December 29, 2013 3:33 pm
