Julio Diaz. Just as well known.Posted January 6, 2014 3:56 am
Khan didn’t beat Julio Garcia. That was a ripoff.
He has as much chance of beating Floyd as Little Bo Peep has of bulldogging a moutain goat. Floyd has to fight somebody real. A real threat. I like Erislandy Lara to kick his butt. I like Pacquiao to put the fight in question until the last bell.Posted January 6, 2014 3:55 am
does any real boxing fan want to see this? i dont think khan has ever shown anything that says he is worthy of a mega fight.Posted January 5, 2014 2:19 am
Khan is nowhere close to the best money fight for Floyd… It’s a stay busy fight… Massive money fights would be Pacquiao, Garcia, and Lara — because they have a fair chance of beating Floyd.
Khan would have a better chance of being attacked by a shark and a polar bear on the same day as beating Floyd.Posted January 4, 2014 5:41 pm
If showtime guarantee $40 million to floyd to fight khan then HBO & TR should have pacman fighting the same weekend in vegas, showtime will lose a bundle!!!!Posted January 3, 2014 3:21 pm
Duckweather, always ducks the dangerous fighters. He’s fooking joke! LOLPosted January 3, 2014 2:49 pm
Some people will simply not accept the facts.
Diaz, Peterson, Garcia and even tiny Molina don’t have styles which somehow make Khan look bad (or lose twice even) YET by magic Khans style is suddenly suited to beating the best fighter on the planet in a weight class above his??
Its pure fantasy stuff!
He hits so hard he could even make a dent on Diaz who had been stopped 5 times before Khan met him. He gets dropped and hangs on to win by 1 point on 2 judges cards.
And he’s has a credible chance against Mayweather?
Its a total mismatch and I would put money on Julio Diaz beating Khan if he could get a rematch.
Oh, forgot, Khan don’t do rematches.Posted January 3, 2014 1:08 pm
Blade, styles makes fights. Khans chin is ok, its his defence he needs to sort out. Khan always gets up after getting hit. Thats something not a lot of boxers can do.Posted January 3, 2014 12:31 pm
Khan spent a lot of time going backwards and trying to survive against a past prime Diaz for fear of getting knocked out.
Sadly Khan is not a complete fighter as he lacks a few things.
A solid chin
This is why he has lost 2 and looked poor in the other 2 of his last fights.
This could be why Boxrec have him ranked 18th at Welter or 6th at light-welter
If Garcia can stop Khan in 4 then Mayweather will probably be able to do it in the first round (if he did not want to toy with him first)
Any hope of Khan doing well against Maywether is simply that “Hope”
Its not logical and the hard facts seriously say otherwise.Posted January 3, 2014 12:15 pm
Khan all the way I say. He is the only fighter out there who brings something to the table that no one else can. He is the only one that can and will fight. hell, even Canelo froze in the ring. Thats just not the way khan rolls, he goes hell for leather and if he gets KO’d so be it. It will be an exciting fight unlike previous mayweather fights.Posted January 3, 2014 11:25 am

Khan is a joke. He is semi retired, refusing to fight again unless it’s a lottery pay day from Floyd. The way Khan is shooting his mouth trying to con everyone into giving him this fight is disgraceful. The sooner this chump retires for good the better. No way does he belong in the ring with Mayweather. Diaz deserved a draw with Khan last time out. Khan is feeble.Posted January 3, 2014 6:33 am
Khan to win by late TKO. If Mayweather comes up with the courage to fight Khan. Mayweather doesn’t handle speed well.Posted January 3, 2014 5:25 am
Floyd and his fans = LOOOOOOOOOSERS of the WORST SORT!!
Khan to win by late TKO or UD.Posted January 3, 2014 1:30 am
When Khan got starched by Prescot he was boxing. He was far far from brawling in any of the 30 seconds he was on his feet. Text book boxing from Breidis put him away and the jab after 20 second buzzed him clear and the rest is history.
Robbed against Peterson?
Outside Khan fans the vast majority thought the fight was very close and could have tipped either way. Hardly a robbery in any sense of the Word.
His attitude is dire though hence his outburst after the fight and the whole ‘man in the hat’ nonsense.Posted January 2, 2014 6:22 pm
Freddie Roach Ate My Hamster
Khan’s biggest flaw and his undoing in every fight he lost is his inability to listen to his corner. He was told to box rather than brawl against Prescott, got KO’d early and blamed it on his corner. He was robbed against Peterson but he didn’t perform as instructed or he’d have won comfortably. Against Garcia he was ludicrously stupid. He cut Danny and was told to work the cut and keep a safe distance – advice which could have given him victory and kept his career on track. Instead he went steaming in as he did against Prescott and did the chicken dance again. The fact that he changed trainer again rather than listen to home truths just emphasises that Amir’s problem isn’t his chin, it’s between his ears. Against a versatile boxer like FMJ he doesn’t stand a chance.

GREAT POSTPosted January 2, 2014 6:00 pm
Why has not one British interviewer directly asked Amir Khan and his family to lay out to the entire world why they are deserving of a title shot with Mayweather? You British are the most biased people on Earth. You whine like dogs when you don’t get your own way, but complain about everyone else. Well, you Brits when are you going to get hold of people like Jim Watt, Jonny Nelson and co. and force them to ask Team Khan to explain to us paying public why he deserves a crack at Mayweather?Posted January 2, 2014 5:01 pm

Fair comments my friend.
In honesty though McClosky was hand picked just like Salita and had no business at World level, hence Khan going in about 1/16 with the betting market. Both Mis-matches with Salita not in the top 50 on boxrec at the time.
Paulie was Khans best fight IMO by far and his career peak, but if he had any form of power at all I’m sure that fight could have been different. Khan simply had nothing to walk through.
But your correct he was the same height.
The rest have been losses or a struggle and Diaz shows us where Khan is at.
He jumped ship when the going got tough at lightweight
He’s jumping ship now the going as got tough at light-welterPosted January 2, 2014 12:50 pm
Well, I don’t know if Khan is actually the BIGGE$T money fight out there for Floyd. I will say that it’s the biggest money fight that Floyd is willing to risk. Outside of the UK very few knowledgeable/hard core/casual fans actually believe that Khan stands much of a chance, especially this being his first fight at 147Lbs. Maybe it would be possible to hype an event vs a fighter more dangerous than Khan. That indeed would arouse more interest especially for the fans of ALL levels that would love to see Floyd get his butt whipped. Anyway, just a thought. Peace to all!!Posted January 2, 2014 12:40 pm
Khan deserves the fight because the fight is about money and Khan will give Mayweather “the biggest money fight available.” It’s not about whether Khan is a worthy opponent. Otherwise, Floyd would be picking someone else.Posted January 2, 2014 11:23 am
@Blade – “At the end of the day he has problems with anyone his own size and always has. Other than Salita (who should not have been in that fight anyway) he lost against, Prescott, Garcia, and Peterson due to the fact they were all his height or more with equal reach or better.”
I think that’s oversimplifying quite a bit. For instance, Malignaggi is pretty much Khan’s size, as was McCloskey.
Peterson won by keeping the fight in close (and having a ref that thankfully forced Khan to fight on the inside instead of clinching which Khan seemed completely unable to do). Had Peterson tried to use his reach and box on the outside, I seriously doubt he would’ve gotten the victory.
Garcia’s reach is actually short for a fighter of his height, and he won just by matching a gameplan to Khan’s over-eagerness. He was winging that left hook for ages before it actually worked (I’m pretty sure from memory that Angel was telling Danny in the corner to just “throw when he throws”), and it only worked because Khan (having dominated the fight thus far) seemed to decide that it was time to get Garcia out of there and turned up the offense (i.e. was thinking a little bit too much about the get in, and not the get out).
I’m sure height/reach played a factor with Prescott, but that fight was way too short to really get much info out of. And let’s not forget that Prescott is waaayyy taller than Khan (and Garcia and Peterson and Mayweather for that matter).Posted January 2, 2014 11:17 am
“Trainer Abel Sanchez feels that WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia and WBA 147 lb. champion Marcos Maidana both deserve a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. more than Amir Khan does right now.”
Sanchez keeps saying this but Danny has said on at least two occasions that he will make his own legacy and that he wants to stay at 140. Danny also said that if the fight comes to him he’d take it but he’s not looking for it and he’s not worried about it if he doesn’t get it.
I wish we could get a straight story from Danny’s camp.Posted January 2, 2014 11:13 am

It is the ugly truth.Posted January 2, 2014 10:00 am
Correct, Khan does not deserve the fight. Bradley and Maidana are the most deserving. Garcia is already on record saying he does not want the fight now if ever.Posted January 2, 2014 10:00 am
No title belt and zero experience at 147. A 2-2 record in his last 4 and a total destruction job at the hands of Garcia. His last fight against a 5/1 underdog, he was dropped and nearly lost. He got no power.
Maidana. World Title belt at 147, good experience at 147 and 4-0 in his last 4 and his last fight against a 1/8 favorite he won convincingly, dropping the guy twice. He got lots of power.
Not a lot to say really!
Khan beat Maidana 3 years back so he deserves the Shot???
Well if we use that type of ‘past’ logic the man who should be getting a shot at Mayweather should be Breidis Prescott who’s done the best number on Khan yet by Ko,ing him in 54 seconds and making him fail the count! LOLPosted January 2, 2014 9:49 am
How does one expect a fighter who ducks Devon Alexander expect to beat Mayweather. This fight would be a disgrace to the sport and Mayweather. Garcia, Peterson, Matthyse, Broner, Thurman, Porter, Lara & Bradley are all better fightsPosted January 2, 2014 9:31 am
KHAN. as with most hype jobs today are lucky to have five to six betls to go for. beyond laughable.Posted January 2, 2014 9:30 am
Khan vs Mayweather is like Real Madrid vs Bolton Wanderers.Posted January 2, 2014 9:26 am
Khan is retired. He just wants one more pay day before officially announcing his retirement. This fight is a total joke and should not happen.Posted January 2, 2014 8:54 am
Just to add,
At the end of the day he has problems with anyone his own size and always has. Other than Salita (who should not have been in that fight anyway) he lost against, Prescott, Garcia, and Peterson due to the fact they were all his height or more with equal reach or better.
He ducked Alexander as he was the same height and handpicked Molina due to him being 3 inch shorter and with a huge reach disadvantage.
What happened when he ended up back in with Diaz who was his own height?
Floyd is his own height but its simply a retirement payday in which he would get stopped quickly.
Once again all the evidence goes against Khans chances or him being deserving of this fight.Posted January 2, 2014 8:22 am
I think Khans magical speed and skill must only work on elite fighters such as Mayweather because it certainly does not work on anyone else.
He had a nightmare with Maidana and Diaz and was out boxed by Peterson. He was sparked by Prescott and his lack of power shoed against a tiny lightweight Molina who he took 10 rounds to retire. Maidana or Garcia would have stopped him inside 2 rounds with ease.
As for outclassing Garcia? LOL
After 2 rounds Garcia had worked his timing out and then took him to school.
The evidence really does suggest he’s done at top level and has been on the way down for the last 3 years.
Only the blind cannot see it!Posted January 2, 2014 8:13 am
Anonymous, Garcia was outboxed and schooled at the point the KO happenend. why do you think Garcia wasnt and still isnt ready to give khan a rematch. Floyd has never faced anyone as fast as khan. khan may not hurt Floyd but he sure will land. he will land combos not pot shots.Posted January 2, 2014 7:31 am
Floyd has never been out punched and frustrated, Reason being no one can hit him. And way didnt Kahn do these things to Garcia?Posted January 2, 2014 6:14 am
Khan will out punch Mayweather. I can see Mayweather getting frustrated in this fight and resorting to dirty tactics. Khan to win by late TKO or UD.Posted January 2, 2014 5:53 am
AS A BOXING FAN I LIKE TO SEE KHAN VS MAYWEATHER SO NO ONE SHOULD TALK FOR ME USING THE PHRASE #WE BOXING FAN DON’T WANT TO SEE KHAN VS MAYWEATHER. SO WHEN EVER PEOPLE PLS US THE WORD #ME NOT THE WORD #WE BCOS I WANT TO SEE KHAN VS MAYWEATHERPosted January 2, 2014 5:44 am
He`s right Khan doesn`t deserve the fight. He deserves it more than Maidana though. Broner was vastly overrated as he showed against Khan victims Malignaggi and Maidana.
Maidana would land less than 20 punches on FLoyd across 12 rounds, it would be the most boring fight ever.Posted January 2, 2014 4:26 am
This is the problem in boxing trainers, journalists, media outlets, and boxing writers allow fckn stupid PROMOTERS AND NETWORKS dictate what the public should get. How many fighters get starched like Pacquiao did only to get the biggest fights in there career a fight or two later?Posted January 2, 2014 12:53 am
How is a guy who got completely starched two fights ago considered the most credible opponent for Mayweather? If they fight and mayweather stops him, fans would be screaming that Pac was done. Which means Pac is no longer the most credible opponent for Mayweather. Truthfully Bradley is more credible. Other’s would be Lara, Molina, and even Garcia. Pacquiao’s stock is down…Posted January 2, 2014 12:50 am
The fight with Khan will, in all probability, be made because it is the biggest $$ fight this side of Pacquaio. However, the evil genius behind Team Cash Register a/k/a TMT may consider shelving Khan and taking on Maidana as a PR move designed to deflect some of the valid Duckweather claims. Regardless of which fighter TMT chooses (and both have their pros and cons), the fact remains that Floyd is refusing to face the most credible challenger out there: Manny P. This violates the most fundamental rule of boxing: champions fight other champions. True boxing champions do not select opponents based on who has the Most PPV buys (and to say otherwise is to admit your ignorance of this sport’s history). Personally, I think the current excuse – I don’t want to pay Bob Arum – is baseless because Arum’s profits will not come (or contractually can be prevented from coming) from PBJ’s share of the purse. Further, when in the history of this sport has the voice of a single fighter been allowed to overrule the voice of the fans? To my knowledge, it has not. The only episode that I can recall of a similar event was the drug induced decision Sugar Ray Leonard made to tell Marvin Hagler that he would “never fight him.”. That action, like PBF’s current one, bring disgrace on the sport and should not be tolerated by the fans or the sanctioning bodies. So what do we the ever righteous fans do? Don’t buy Floyd fights and hope the sanctioning bodies strip him of his belt(s). I will be doing my part and I hope you will too.Posted January 2, 2014 12:44 am
Why all of a sudden is Maidana more deserving than Khan, all he did was expose Boner and that was coming in his last 4 fights. Khan beat Maidana dropping him with a sickening body shot, and at times he made Maidana look very average in the early rounds, much like he did to Garcia until he got over confident and stupid, and rightly got punished for it. I mean those first 5 minutes against Garcia he picked him off for fun with the jab. Now I want to see the Pac fight more than any other with Floyd of course but to look out there at big names, and Khan is one, why not Khan. No one wants to watch Bradley because he’ll never be in an entertaining fight again after Provodnikov. This make cash sense and I think will be a better fight than people think, at least for 7-8 rounds, believe me it will be more competitive for that time than Alvarez and Guererro.Posted January 2, 2014 12:38 am
Go buy your stocks in humble pie immediately. There will be plenty consumed in 2014. Khan will UD Mayweather Jnr a to the point of a mismatch and Floyd will lose his ‘GOAT’ and ‘ATG’ and ‘HOF’ tags in one swoop. Khan is faster, fitter, more powerful. You heard it here first. Mayweather will need another Ortiz sucker punch to get the ‘W’ in this onePosted January 2, 2014 12:07 am
I honestly think Mayweather-Khan gets made, followed by Mayweather-Maidana later in the year.
I figure if Maidana follows up the Broner fight with a good win soon, then he’ll force his way to being a front-runner to fight Mayweather.
But again, I could care less what goes into a fighter’s pocket. If I had a dictatorship over boxing Mayweather would be fighting Pacquiao and Bradley back to back and then, win or lose, step up to Martinez for a retirement bout (assuming Martinez hasn’t already been toppled, coz in my dictatorship there’d be a MW tournament starting with Martinez-Quillin and Golovkin-Sturm, then I’m assuming ending with Martinez-Golovkin).Posted January 1, 2014 11:40 pm
Boxing is big buisness. All this crying about Floyd vs, Manny. reality is Floyd can fight whoever he wants Manny has to fight who Arum tells him too that is the difference since Mannys defeat by Mrquez his public appeal and interest has gone in the toliet, That was evident in the Rios bout. Kahn makes more since Money wise yes. But sill wise he got a snow balls chance in hell of winning, About the same as Manny if they fought. Manny will fight either Ruslan or Bradley this year mayeb bother but fact is he wont come of of both winning…Posted January 1, 2014 11:12 pm
Khan is BETTER than Rios. I’ll give him that much but I don’t buy PPV Fights unless its two Top 10 P4P Fighters facing off SO they LOST MY money on this one. I’ll take the money and bet it on Mayweather to makr MY own pocketbook FATTER.Posted January 1, 2014 11:10 pm
Yup. Manny isn’t interested enough to drop his roadblock which is Arum. TOO bad.Posted January 1, 2014 11:08 pm
Yes, it’s a BUSINESS decision and Floyd’s BUSINESS PARTNER (Showtime) will insist that Floyd pick the most PROFITABLE. Whether Khan DESERVES the opportunity or not doesn’t mean spit to Floyd/Showtime. We all know which is actually the BE$T bu$ine$$ fight but… “somebody” isn’t interested for whatever reason.Posted January 1, 2014 10:55 pm

When a six fight contract is signed in boxing, there’s going the fans will not be happy with all the matches. If Mayweather fights Khan, and beats him, this won’t be the only fight that will be complained about. Just the same Khan may surprise some of us. He has some pretty good wins in his career, despite his losses.Posted January 1, 2014 10:39 pm
I’m not sure what substantiates Khan as being the biggest money fight for Mayweather. Excluding Pac (have to be excluded because a fight cannot be made with Top Rank). The biggest fight out there should be Maidana… especially with him coming off win against Broner. Khan has been inactive and frankly seems scared of getting in the ring. Hopefully Mayweather makes the right choice. Regarding Garcia, I’d like to see a couple fights at welter before he takes on FMJ.Posted January 1, 2014 10:15 pm
I meant Broner vs Khan.Posted January 1, 2014 10:11 pm
A better matchup would be Broker vs Khan. I don’t see either Danny Garcia or Maidana beating Floyd and would likely be boring fights. Bradley may give Floyd the most problem as he showed against Marquez he can box…he even hurt Marquez a few times.Posted January 1, 2014 10:08 pm
Khan is the bigger name but he doesn’t deserve the fight. I think w maidana destroying broner a may vs chino fight could sell! Then that could set up may vs pac in sept. Granted pac wins in march or april. And floyd wins in may. Due to the criticism floyd is recieving if he fights khan i can see floyd choosing another opponent.Posted January 1, 2014 9:52 pm

Who are people kidding? Pacquiao VS Mayweather, is STILL the biggest PPV draw, BY FAR!!… Particularly due to Pacquiao’s training history with Englishman, Khan, and Hatton’s, history with both Floyd and Manny, means they’d bring in nearly ALL of Khan’s fans, as well as all the American fans of both, And need I point out Manny’s vast wealth of Filipino, other Asian, and Latino fans to boot?!!Posted January 1, 2014 9:20 pm
Khan is an entertaining fighter, but it shows how wrong boxing can be when he gets a fight against mayweather when in reality Khan does not deserve to share the same ring with him. The author is correct in saying he scraped a decision against a past his best Diaz.He then dodges a fight against Devon Alexander and his reward will be a huge payday against money. IMO it stinks.Posted January 1, 2014 9:14 pm
