It was just that the punches were comeing, and he could not resist.after the bell Ko.Why did not the ref give him time to recover, or call it a no contest.

CUBAN BASHING AS THE TREND ,KEEP GOING ON
,,,TO KEEP THEM FROM “ACTION” AND TAKE BIG EXPOSURE!!!!
…..
IF YOU’RE SO RIGHTEOUS,,,THEN YOU’LL HAVE A LOT OF INTERPRETATION TO DO WITH MANY “AFTER THE BELL,PUNCHES” AND SOME OTHER INMORAL PUNCHES,”BORDERLINES ILEGALS”……
THE CUBAN,WAS IN A PUNCHING RALLY AND IT WAS NOT LIKE MAYWEATHER ALMOST SUCKER PUNCHER ON ORTIZ (LEGAL,BUT QUESTIONNABLE) ……

IN ANY CASE,THE CUBAN ALREADY AGREED WITH A REMATCH..
HE ,AS THE OTHERS CUBANS,IS NOT HYDING,BEHIND PROMOTERS OR MEDIA AS MANY OVER PROTECTED “SO-CALLED” WARRIORS” ARE DOING THIS DAYS….DQ IT’S NOT RIGHT,,,,NO CONTEST IT,S STUPID……THE REMATCH,SINCE DEMANDED AND ACCEPTED IS THE EXIT TO THIS ISSUE….
EVEN THOUGH AFTER WATCHING THIS “UNKNOWN CUBAN” FOR ME,,,A REMATCH WILL PLAYED IN THE SAME MANNER!!!!TOO MUCH POP FOR THE CUBANIS!!!

I like Teddy Atlas, but he had a bad night on Friday. What happens at the bell is not just the responsibility of the referee. The bell is for the fighters as well and they are not allowed to punch after the bell.
Somtimes, the fighter is in mid swing, or in the middle of a combination, but it didn’t seem the case in this fight. We’ll see what the appeals process brings. In the main event, I thought Truax might have nicked it, but he did nothing in the tenth round, and Atlas scored that for him. I expect all three judges gave that one to Duran, salvaging the draw.

Take a point away from Barthelemy for the late punch. KO remains. Problem solved.

This fight shouldn’t be reversed. This is the refs fault. The fighter was in the middle of throwing a combination trying to finish off the fighter. The ref should of been closer to step in. That is what a ref does when he hears the 5 or 10 second warning. They could have a rematch but like it was posted before he was gonna be knocked out anyways. He never recovered from the first round.

Mendez never really recovered from round 1, he was almost knocked down. His legs were not stable, he looked weak the KO was going to happen.

That fight should be reversed to a no contest. The punch was clearly after the bell. , and both should have a rematch. That is the right thing to do. Rances was fighting for the belt, was focused on his opponenet, and he didn’t hear the bell. The referee blew it. Rematch needed.

Fight Aficionado

The two punch KO happened clearly after the bell. The ref was in no man’s land when he should’ve been ready to break up the fighters when the bell sounded. Can’t blame Barthelemy for continuing to punch but it’s not within the rules to KO someone like that. Note the official time was 2:59 of the round which is an outright lie.

Sucker punching a fighter? Mendez got his guard up all the time when Rance started his combination and was the final two punches of 4 that when after the bell. Sucker punch was Mayweather Ortiz. This was just a superior fighter this day, who hurt him in the first, who put him in the canvas and then when for the kill before the two punches finish a wounded champion who looks nothing like a champion in the short fight. Mendez if he knew where he was and what time was left after the first knockdown should have stay away for 3 sec and at least survive a round, although it would have been stop short after. Since he got wobble in the first he wasn’t recuperation and got down in the 2nd and was even worse. Lets them do a rematch but it will be the same outcome.

Ppl paid good money for FMJ to rob them of it by sucker punching a fighter talking to a ref totally unaware. But it was probably his only way of getting a stoppage…..but still, you would think he would have just beat him str8 up since it was inevitable and not screwing his fans. Boxing needs a worldwide commission set up. Same rules across the board. One belt per division and eliminating some divisions.

Ref was asleep on the job. But it is protect yourself at all times and if the ref isn’t breaking the guys you have to protect yourself. I recall buster douglas was KOed on his comeback after the bell and they disqualified the other fighter. Problem is there has to be official rules in place, which there are not, that would disqualify a fighter who KO’s a fighter after the bell. If it were me I would protest the decision because the final KO blow landed 2 seconds after the bell. Really it’s up to the officials arbitrary decision on what to do which leaves open a can of worms. Basically if you are a really popular fighter lets say that was mayweather getting KO for the first time 2 seconds after the bell against Pac I think there would have been a diffrent outcome or a lawsuit or official investigation etc. Discretion is good to have but seriously i don’t think cared the bell rung, he had the guy hurt and he wanted to end it there which is wrong as the bell rings your supposed to stop punching. I’m okay with it being declared a no contest and the belt returned cause he did KO him after the bell. My feeling nobody really gives a rip as it’s a low profile Friday Night fight match.

Must be that the referee got paid under the table. This could set a dangerous precedent to give advantages to certain favored fighters.

The ref was retarded….should have got closer to the action at end of round….What a shame

I have no idea if the K.O. will stand, but it is a shame that it took place after the bell. What it the K.O. took place before the beginning of the fight? Would that stand too? If not – why not? Fights have rules, and part of the rules are three minute rounds, and if the K.O. happens outside that specified time, then it troubles me that it would stand. If a boxing commission isn’t suppose to rectify situations such as this, then what is their purpose?
