One thing that I will say about Teddy though, is he does seem to care about a fighter’s wellfare. He doesn’t like seeing fighters take too much damage. And I do agree with him on that. There are several comentators that could care less as long as they see some skulls get cracked.

I never really thought of it that way, but you make a good point. And fans seem to have the same ideas, nor do they seem to be happy with all the great fights that are getting put together. Take last year for instance, I thought 2013 was one of the best years of boxing in a very long time, yet fans still are complaining, about nearly every match that gets made. You know, this guy should be fighting that guy, or that guy’s not deserving….

LOL…I knew what you meant, TC…but you know the saying about “good intentions”, right?

Honestly, there’s always room for improvement in any faction. But the approach that Teddy always takes regarding the sport that puts food on his table should be one of a bit more respect.

After more than 35 years in the sport of boxing, he should realize that some of the ideas that he mentions frequently on the show are very unrealistic.

Like the ranking system…especially while boxing is still a fringe sport in America.

It is better for the sport at this time to make the best match-ups possible within each weight division…now. If the sport were loyal to ranking systems, we would be forced to sit through match-ups that really weren’t impactful to boxing. With the limited number of network dates available to the fighters and promoters, it’s just not possible or the best scenario for the sport.

If boxing were supported by the number of fans who currently endorse the NFL, then Teddy’s plan would be feasible…but not at this time. It’s unrealistic.

Crap up??? Lol, I meant crack up, of course…. By the way, I agree boxing fans complain too much. I didn’t hear Teddy’s latest rant, but he’s likes to complain, even if though he has good intentions.

Thanks, TC…I’m supposed to stay neutral with these match-ups, but it’s hard not to root for a gent like Pat Majewski!! Can’t wait for the 24th!!

Thanks for tuning in, brother!!

Joe, I imagine no decision will be made until the results of the post fight testing are known.

Another good show… Mejewski is a crap up. I wish him luck..

Jennings has shown a lot in his path to this point, and I think he is one of the more athletically gifted Heavyweights in the division.

But, he has a very tough test in Artur Szpilka on the 25th. The Pole is a hungry young fighter who can punch and has decent skill.

It’s fight that Jennings should win, but it won’t be as easy as most believe. I think Bryant realizes this.

jennings should be in the top ten perhaps, but how are we to know who he can beat who are truely top ten contenders, such as a David Haye, stiverne or christobal.

I will speak with Stafford and company this week…I will try to get Mike on the show within the next few weeks.

I can tell you this…Broner and company still want the rematch with maidana, and the pending investigation is necessary to get that rematch, as I discussed on last year’s final show.

Joseph, when do you think we’ll hear something on the Alex Ariza controversy? Anything drifting in the wind yet?

Posted January 9, 2014 9:46 am

Hidalgo

“He has recognised that he needs to improve his skillset and has identified a good trainer who can do this. ”

Right on, TJ. Lucas has seen how much Maidana has improved under Robert Garcia. Give Lucas a year under Robert. Then make the rematch with Danny!

Happy New Year, Hidalgo!!

I agree regarding your remarks on Abel Sanchez. I’ve stated this before…I prefer featuring trainers above everyone else in the sport, because they don’t pull any punches. They speak their respective minds freely.

It always results in a much better interview.

With that said, Patrick Majewski is a great guy and always entertaining every time he appears on the show. I’m really looking forward to seeing him fight Curtis Stevens on January 24th!!
