Wlad may not be too exciting at times, but he still scores a lot of KO’s, he has been bossing the division for a while now and there’s nothing anyone’s been able to do about it, including David Haye, who isn’t 100% right for any fight these days, lol! WK is one of the longest reigning HW champs ever, so go think about that.Posted January 13, 2014 9:45 am

Wladimir sucks completely and happily takes easy fights like this one. The only good fighter he ever faced was Haye and I believe Haye was not 100% that night but also had the wrong game plan. Wlad cant create a Joe Louis opponent but he can for sure grow some balls and fight someone who does have a chance. He is a complet joke!Posted January 13, 2014 3:14 am

The contenders need to fight each other and prove they are worthy of the Crown, there is much more ducking and diving outside the ropes nowadays than inside.
If these guys fought each other more often, some would lose and some improve.
There’s too much talk and little enough action.
I remember Mr David Haye ( probably the most skilled heavy for many a year) talking about him cleaning up the Heavyweight division and going after the Klichkos, and look what really happened. Non stop interviews, publicity stunts, and self admiration.Posted January 12, 2014 4:37 pm

wach was good in that he faired better than most every other wlad opponent. i mean who faired btter that actually engaged wladimir? wlad vs wach was full of nuclear bomb powered shots. which i thought was awesome. 10- 100 times more entertaining than the powerless garbage exchanges b/w mayweather anf fuerrero and ortiz and soon to be kahn. the point is wlad is always making the call outs to contenders Nd noone is biting no contenders want it. or they would sign and fight simple as thatPosted January 12, 2014 3:54 pm
Bears if you think that the Wach fight was a good one then I’d hate to see what you classify as a bad fight. To a large extent it is no Wlad’s fault that the competition is piss poor but there is NO excuse for fighting the level of opposition that he has faced recently. Let’s be honest these so called ‘mandatory’ challenges for the heavyweight belts are pointless. Wlad would be far better served ditching the belts and fighting the best opposition available. This is what tends to happen at the lighter weights with the likes of Mayweather (although he cherry picks as well) and everybody acknowledges that he is the best in his division.
huckster, any belt Pulev might win off Klitschko will be due to boxing politics, nothing else.Posted January 12, 2014 3:38 pm
Wlad is a good champion, but he should be taking on Pulev next, imo. Denis Boytsov wouldn’t have deserved the next shot and neither does Leapai, ahead of Pulev. Wlad beats em all anyway.Posted January 12, 2014 3:35 pm
rod- wach was a good fight so i dont know why u list it as bad. wach took an unreal ammount of punishment and kept coming forward making it a fight and even landing on wladimir with wladimir leaning on on the ropes “a rare sight”.
i dont blame wlad for this these contenders will not fight him. he always calls out and noone wants to answer. the sanctioning bodies need to arrange the fights by forcing contenders close in rank to fight or loose rank and forcing eliminators followed by championship bouts.
on a side note wlad got a big paycheck and a sold out arena to fight mormek. i know its dasy garbage and mayweather dies it all the time but mayweather would struggle to fill a euro stadium. but the problem of matchmaking in boxing is the sanctioning bodies need to play a bigger role and force the action so if a fighter wants rank in their sanctioning body they have to comply and fight like mma. and last i looked mma makes a lot of money so the model is workingPosted January 12, 2014 3:05 pm

guys like wilder are just tryin to ride it out til wladimirs gone and not fight anyone. wilder must know wlad has his number from sparring. its just another incidence where the mma model is better because the fights just get made. fighters get told who they will fight. tons of intriguing heavyweight contender matchups and they just dont fight eachother because they arrange their own fights rather than the sanctioning bodies arranging and making them mandatory. floyd would not be able to cherry pick and duck fighters and heavyweight contenders would be forced to fight eachother. just one of the plethora of faults to the multiple sanctioning body system boxing employs. and it allows and perpetuates what mayweather does and its pathetic. we have people on here like tumbo talking about making fights based on marketability rather than just making the best fights and even getting behind this with mayweather. this is the antithesis of the fight game here. what floyd does regarding ducking and dodging and cherry picking is disgraceful. and the wbo failing to force a better fight in this instance is disgraceful. leapai!!?!?!? these sanctioning bodies are garbage. every one if them.Posted January 12, 2014 1:47 am

TERI: You are not crazy, but wrong for using these kind of statistics. Many of the fighters back then were not being promoted like they are today. This is why many of the fighters today have really “impressive records”. Back then fighters were not coddled like they are today. there were many boxing shows back then, and fighters often early in their careers foghty as often as they could to earn money, which also meant a greater chance of losing than today. Today a fighter is a “product”, and the promoters make sure that he has the best record possible. Before Marciano, the only fighters I could think of who were somewhat brought up that way were Joe Louis and Willie Pep. Pep I think was a world champ in the than two years and a half, and I think taht Louis was one in about three years, despite the loss to Schmelling. I do feel that if Wlad and Marciano met in a fight thanks to a time machine that Wlad would win due to his size. However the world of boxing was different then.Posted January 11, 2014 9:26 pm

Orgs will make anyone number one contender for a price. They make patsies number one if that’s the guy you want to fight.

Tell me I am crazy. Rocky Marciano had a total of 7 championship fights.
While people are critical of Wlad fighting this New Zealander, it is true that the New Zeland3er is the number one contender in the WBO. As one person here posted, AZIF I think, the apple cart was wrecked for Sauerland promotions when Boytzov lost. WHo in fact had Boytzov beaten to be number one contender? It just goes to show how many of these rating organizations are such shams, and are probably getting under the table money from promoters to rank their fighters so high. As proof, why are so fighters ranked number one in some organizations, but not ranked at all in others? I was critical here of Wlad fighting Wach and that Italian born fighter when they ere not even ranked number one, and their was really not great world wide interest in that fight. But I cannot find fault here. As for Pulev, did he not struggle against Thompson, and not get decked by Joey Abell. For me the big marque fight for Wlad would be against either Tyson Fury, or Derreck Chosora.Posted January 11, 2014 5:29 pm
The worse heavyweight champion of all time was definitely Leon Spinks. One time champion, knocked out Now who did he beat, Hmm, some dude name Ali. How bad was Leon, knocked out 9 times, lost 17 of 46 fights. This does one of two things, shows Ali wasn’t so great (beat by a 7-0-1 fighter, or shows that all greats can be beaten. You pick. But nobody can ever convince me there was a less deserving or worse champion.Posted January 11, 2014 5:28 pm

Now there’s a night of boxing, fighting, and slugging. 2 million PPV I’m thinking.

Pulev will be next, he is also a mandatory, and then we will have to see who the third opponent will be. Wlad is an active champion and fights more often than Floyd or Hopkins. He just has a lot less choices to give him a good fight then those two.Posted January 11, 2014 4:28 pm

Greatest sport on the world, but I’m really struggling to appreciate the Heavyweight scene, and No I don’t blame the Klitchkos. The simple fact is there is no depth in the Division,, no real hunger, belief, or desire to be great or to excel at it.
At the end of the day, the contenders need to up the pace, fight each other and make themselves the legitimate challenger to the Titles.Posted January 11, 2014 4:22 pm

rod you are dellusional, and out of touch. Mentioning that Deontay Wilder has fought better oposition. After 30 fights Wilder best opposition is a washed out Sergie lehovic, Audley Harrison, and under powerd Nicholis Firtha. I am a Wlad Klistchko fan, and yes I was dissiapointed that Wlad diddnt finish off Povetkin. Howver, Wilder even after 30 fights wouldnt fight a fringed contender. Wilder is no Mike Tyson. Since after his 17th fight Mike Tyson fought a tough fighter in Jessie Ferguson. Deontay’s Wilder’s management must see an obvious flaw such as lack of balance, and very Chinney. That is why Wilder hasnt fought anyone off note. DavidHaye would be to fast and powerful for Wilder.Posted January 11, 2014 3:49 pm

Should be an easy win for WK, but Leapai will make him fight, so there should be some action in the fight.

Biggest thing against Leapai is his loss to Safety Pin.Posted January 11, 2014 11:15 am

it is one thing to be boring but Vlad is reaching the point where he is an embarrassment. Slowly but surely , even his most myopic German fans are seeing this. Maybe nobody could beat W.K. at this point in time. But we still want to see the best guys given the chance for a upset.Nobody thought Douglas was going to beat Tyson that night aswell. And if you gave a poll who people would want to see Leapai or Pulev fight W.K. I would bet 100% would say Pulev…except maybe Leapai himself.Posted January 11, 2014 9:41 am
Also, Lepai went into the BOystov fight an underdog, put his career on the line, and won fair and square.
When has Tyson Fury done that? He backs out of every eliminator he’s offered. and when has Deontay Wilder done that? 30+ fights and he’s still matched against tomato cans.Posted January 11, 2014 9:34 am
It’s not like Ruiz, Perez, Chisora and Jennings have a real chance of beating him either.
