“IF Maidana doesn’t give him a rematch he’s a SISSY.”
What a blatant ignoramus you are Boxtra$$wipe! Maidana just beat Broner into the canvas and left him running out of the ring with a blasted ego, a swollen face, and the loss of a championship belt. That was no “sissy” that did that to Broner. That was his DADDY. DADDY taught the boy a very well-deserved lesson.Posted January 13, 2014 5:46 pm

Doesn’t deserve a rematch. Fight wasn’t even close not even for a minute. The only reason Maidana was ever even hurt was a punch after the bell which should have DQd Broner.Posted January 13, 2014 12:41 pm
What do both Bob Arum and Richard Schaefer have in common?
Yesterday, they were lying but, today they are telling the truth.
In Richard Schaefer’s case we should amend the quote to:

To tell the truth, their wasn’t a rematch clause. But Al Haymon wants this fight and what Al Haymon wants, Al Haymon gets. Al Haymon needs another Mayweather and we want to make Broner the next Mayweather.Posted January 12, 2014 4:56 pm
In my opinion, for what it’s worth, Maidana should NOT fight Broner next, let Broner go out and fight another top 5 fighter and win, then start talking about a re-match, Broner carries no weight against Maidana as of now, Maidana is the champion, he should call the shots, Broner is still trying to con people into believing it was just an off night, with all the crap he kept talking, even with an off night he should have beaten anyone, with the beating he got, and he really got one, he should just get back to work, and let his actions not his promoter friends be the deciding factor in his future. As for Maidana, go out and negotiate with someone else, you choose your opponent, like they chose you, expecting you to be another easy mark for Broner.Posted January 12, 2014 4:49 pm
If Maidana don’t get the Mayweather fight then Broner is probably the better option for him as opposed to fighting Thurman. The money is probably similar but I doubt he beats Thurman , he may not beat Broner but he’s already shown he can hurt ABPosted January 12, 2014 3:48 pm

I thought he said that Broners manager said there was a rematch clause? Either way he did initially say there wasn’t. I have no clue since I havent seen the contracts. But if not then Maidana needs to move onPosted January 12, 2014 2:54 pm
Good for Maidana. Schaefer’s claim there was a rematch clause is a lie anyhow. He stated there was none after the fight and now he’s trying to change that retroactively.Posted January 12, 2014 2:43 pm

No ticky, no washy. No papey no rematchy.Posted January 12, 2014 1:26 pm
Hidalgo, it does sound strange…we were told by Richard Schaefer after the event that Broner didn’t have a rematch clause included within the first fight’s contract.
That sounded strange to begin with…most of the time when a title holder fights a voluntary defense, he puts a rematch clause in the contract…most of the time.
Now we’re hearing that Broner did indeed have a rematch clause in the original contract…hmmmmm.
But if Maidana thinks he’s not honoring that rematch clause while he currently has the same promoter and manager as Adrien Broner, he’s insane.
I will talk about all of this on tonight’ program…9PM EST/6PM PSTPosted January 12, 2014 1:26 pm

Achmed-Like I always tell people. It doesn’t matter what you “meant” what matters is what you did write and how it was interpreted. If you meant something else you should have worded you statement much better and left out references to infidel, muslims and beheadings which reinforce muslim stereotypes. Now it sounds like you are backtracking and as a former counter-terrorist US Marine I find your comments extremely offensive. What if I was to direct one of my buddies to this commen thread?Posted January 12, 2014 12:21 pm

If there is no rematch clause then Maidana please move on. There really is no need for a rematch. You put a spankin on Broner. Everybody saw that. Try and get that Floyd fight or just continue your career and keep doing what you are doing. If there is a rematch clause, it is better to go through with it than to go to court for it and hold your career up.Posted January 12, 2014 11:26 am
I agree from the way Broner looked, I don’t think he could get to 135. He may have put on too much muscle to fight at 147. I do think he can get to 140. Now the question is, is he gonna work on his foot work. He is no James Toney so he is not gonna be able to sit there the whole time and try to roll and slip punches like Toney could.Posted January 12, 2014 11:24 am
no way Broner will ever melt back down to 135. The lowest he will go is 140. No monwy fights at 135 anywayPosted January 12, 2014 11:13 am
Khan’s Cuz Achmed
Let me clear a couple things up. First of all murder is disgusting no matter your race/religion. Like I said I wasn’t talking of that but simply knocking someone’s head off. Technically that is even an overstatement considering the head’s are merely bloodied and bruised in the ring and not actually “knocked off”. Never meant to insult or offend anyone other than perhaps Amir’s future opponents if they have the stones to step in the ring with him. I am in a region that hasn’t dealt with the issues you are speaking of and am sorry to hear of the incident you referred to in London. Best wishes to you and no hard feelings for the misunderstanding. Hope the feeling is mutual. Now back to boxing: Amir will reign in 2014 and Mayweather is going down!Posted January 12, 2014 11:07 am
@Khan’s Cuz Achmed:
Well, if the idea of Muslims beheading people for being “infidels” were something belonging to the distant past (e.g. the time of your beloved “Prophet”, who did indeed like to behead “infidels”), that might be okay. In the present situation, however, in which there are cases of extremist Muslims actually beheading people all over the world, it’s really f***ing sick, and just reinforces stereotypes against Muslims in general, so I suggest you steer clear of that sort of language and stick to talking about sport like the rest of us.
I’d also advise you to stop falsely claiming to be Amir Khan’s cousin, and try and be a little more realistic about your heroes chances. Yes, he’s very fast and talented, but he has already been knocked down ten times in his (very short) career, and it’s very likely that he ever fought Maidana again (especially at 147, at which weight Khan has never fought), he would get sparked out good and proper, just as he would if he fought Provodnikov, Matthysse, Garcia, Thurman, Guerrero, Rios, Pacquiao, Marquez or Mayweather.Posted January 12, 2014 10:38 am

Thanks for your concern “Martin” but I am not one of the extremist idiots. I only use the term “Behead” as in knocking someone’s head off with the power of ones fists. Any other way is simply disgusting and stupid. #Notamurderer #KOMachine #KingKhan2014Posted January 12, 2014 9:35 am

I see that the (very sick) “Khan’s Cuz Achmed” is still fantasising about “beheading the infidels”. In light of the fact that two of his fellow Muslims actually did behead a man in broad daylight on a London street, I suggest that the ESB moderator send the IP address of this “Achmed” to the police. He’s clearly a sick fantasist, but then so were the 7/7 bombers. Such people are not rational, and when they start ranting about “beheading the infidel”, the best thing to do is alert the counter-terrorism police in case they have aspirations to become “martyrs”.Posted January 12, 2014 9:01 am

Does anyone really want to see Mayweather-Maidana, If Floyd wants to fight the best at Welter weight he should only consider Bradley, if he wants to fight at Jr Middleweight, he should fight Lara. Those are the only fights that really make sense. Both of these men I think would give him tougher fights than did the over rated Alvarez,Posted January 12, 2014 4:21 am
Both Broner and Maidana need a good break before they fight again as both got gave each other a fairly good beating in their first fight. Being significantly younger than Maidana, Broner will likely have quicker recuperative powers. Maidana said Broner is very strong and Broner did hurt him on occasion in their fight. These guys need plenty of time to heal before they even go back into training again for their next fight.Posted January 12, 2014 1:25 am

I never thought Maidana would. Broner’s first fight ever at 147 was for a championship, talk about cherry picking. Now, he gets embarrassed and wants that quick rematch.
Ask Golden Boy, All Haymon, etc. ”Why didn’t Pauly get a rematch when he lost the same belt to Broner”?
That’s right Marcos… Lay down the law now… Don’t let them fools Dana White your ass!Posted January 11, 2014 11:38 pm

Maidana is in charge now. He should demand where the fight takes place, the smallest ring available, and the smallest gloves allowed. If all those demands are on the table, I doubt Broner would take the fight.Posted January 11, 2014 11:07 pm
Easy, easy, that was a big fight, Lewis finished Grant, Like Calzaghe finished Lacy, Lacy would of done well against Jones and Hopkins, should of fought them first, not Calzaghe.Posted January 11, 2014 11:01 pm
Maidana wants to have a break unless he is ofered to fight Floyd, good for him, he deserves it. Broner must realise that Marcos is in the driver’s seat now and if he genuinely wants to face Chino he has to give in to Maidana’s demands eg location (Argentina?) and the biggest share of the purse. He also has to wait until Marcos finish his long vacations.Posted January 11, 2014 10:39 pm

The result will be the same as the first one, except Broner will take an even more savage beating the next time. But the vast majority would like to see Broner take a beating again so they might as well hold it in a Colosseum in Rome.
It’s like B-Hop said, Broner just took such a beating, it took three fights out of him, and if he goes through that again, and there’s EVERY chance he will, then that’s another three fights. You know your stuff Joseph, there’s only so many beatings like that a fighter can take, even at a young age. Look what happened to Jeff Lacy after Joe Calzaghe beat the crap out of him for 12 rounds, Lacy was never the same again. I know you’ve seen that fight, probably more than once, it was pure boxing skill that dismantled Lacy. But with respect to Joe, weight for weight, Joe didn’t hit as hard as Maidana does. If Broner takes another beating or worse like he did the last time, it could finish him for good. But that’s the fight game. I guess fighting Maidana is better than pissing Serena Williams off and having to fight her.Posted January 11, 2014 10:36 pm
