Sorry for the typos on the previous comments. Broner, if you have any respect for boxing you should ” QUIT” because that whole throwing yourself on the floor to try and get Maidana DQ’d is a total demonstration of cowardliness. You definitely do not have the heart for this sport. Anybody that knows about boxing, knows that you do not have the heart when taken to deep waters.

The historian is a prophet facing backwards. broner should not stand and spit in the wind if he messes with maidana again. maidana will alley hoop over that shoulder all 12 rounds. historian roy should stand back and check his own old crystal ball.

They say that when a fighter becomes a champion , he becomes 25% better. So, in April, Broner would be facing a 125% Maidana. Damn! Bad news to Broner!

HH London…. Hearns was knocked out 3 times in his 20′s…all with head shots… He didn’t have a lot of angles and wasn’t a good defender.

“But Broner uses a crossed arm defense, with the shoulder-roll and that’s always creates opportunities for a swarming puncher. Particularly for a puncher with an arching right hand delivery like MM has.”

Tark, one of Maidana’s greatest weapons against Broner was his feinting. Broner couldn’t read him as much as he needed to. Maidana knew it too. That’s another reason why he was able to land on Broner so much.

Thomas Hearns couldn’t bang until Manny taught him how set the chin up and throw the shot.

Maidana has never been taught how to work a fighter into the shot and so does what he only knows which is to walk forward throwing volume and big.

Shame Manny ain’t around to teach him the angles.

140 is where Broner should be and maidana will win again.

Maidana doesn’t actually punch that hard. He just keeps throwing. This was very much like Roy Jones’s matchup with Glen Johnson — just a very lousy matchup from Broner’s perspective.

On the surface it looked like a great matchup because Maidana is so hittable… He’s not a good defender… and he’s right there to be hit. So he seemed like an ideal opponent for a skilled boxer-puncher like Broner.

But Broner uses a crossed arm defense, with the shoulder-roll and that’s always creates opportunities for a swarming puncher. Particularly for a puncher with an arching right hand delivery like MM has.

Maidana throwns a lot of punches that are the opposite version of the left Sergio Martinez knocked Paul Williams TFO with. The right hander loops over the guard—as the fist rotates counter-clocwise it torques down, defeating the shoulder roll. Broner got smashed with the shots leaving him wide open for follow up left hooks.. The problem comes from blocking right hands with your left shoulder and right glove — this leaves you wide open for left hooks.

You can watch Ken Norton’s fights with Garcia I, Foreman, Shavers, and Cooney to see the problems a cross-armed defense creates versus punchers.

Yeah, maybe not, but it’s good he did in the end. Guy needed a wake up call.

Broner got caught early and lost his composure. In the famous words of Mike Tyson every man has a plan until he gets hit. Marcos is no one you can never take lightly he is a beast. Broner just months before the fight had a pot belly and was extremely out of shape. I feel as though he had the skills to stay on the outside use his speed and movement to outbox the slow Maidana and that he fought stupid fight he never let his hands go and he never relied on his speed and defense. The jury is still out on Broner time will tell how he comes back either he will be a one hit wonder overhyped kid. Or come back and show everyone what he is made of the one thing is clear he is no Floyd….

Its funny when Khan took some of M.M. shots without getting K.O. M.M. then became the most overrated power puncher in the history of boxing…now hes Tyson and Shavers rolled into one..lol. The way they were building Broner up…he should have beaten M.M. pretty easy..but Broner isnt what they thought he was…like others aswell in this instant media era..with social and so-called pro media at your fingertips 24-7 with thousands of avenues for news…

I admire Broner’s ambition. I LOSE my respect for guys when they LOSE their title but don’t want the rematch. I remember when Paul Williams SPANKED Margarito for his title and Margarito never even tried to get it back. Thats called being SISSYFIED. Its like someone stealing YOUR bike and you don’t have the balls to go take it back. I LOST MY respect for Manny TOO when he turned down the Bradley rematch. The GREAT ones want to avenge their LOSSES. SISSIES don’t. They tuck tail and RUN.

I always find it funny what Roy Jones says. Many people in the past said he ducked fighters. Curiously Charles Brewer was one of those fighter, perhaps early in Jones career. I will always remember when Jones was on the first Wlad Klistchko-(that fighters name escapes me) where Wlad got stopped in 5. Jones said about Klitschko, he can dish it out, but can’t take it. hat happened to Jones then he got ko’d two times in a row by Tarver, and more ko’s by Johnson. Since Roy JOnes is still boxing today, though not with the success he once had, I guess we should also ask him about financial planning.

I like Mike Stafford, but there is a video on YouTube prior to the fight were he totally dismisses Maidana as a real threat to Adrien Broner. Mike followed that comment by saying how good Adrien looked ‘Sparring’ other guys. *Quick note to !ike, this isn’t the amatuers man, no head gear allowed.
I know, fans no nothing, but I had Maidana winning this fight. Why? Broner looked slow and flat-footed vs Pauly. Plus, Pauly landed more punches then anyone expected, including me. I knew, if he fought Maidana in that same style, he get rocked, and it happened.

LOL true that. Roy knew who to duck. That’s why he dodged Michael Nunn when he was his WBC mandatory and the WBCriminals never enforced it. Nunn at the time was a big strong southpaw who was motivated and KOing dudes. Then of course there’s the Dariusz thing, followed by the Bhop thing. That’s why they started a Roycott.

Jones Jnr knows what he is talking about when dodging fighters. He avoided Steve Collins for his entire career.

Who cares. CHINO won!!! Im glad they faced off and Broner lost.

I thought broner was floyd jr. ? I slick fighter always beats a boxer puncher right ?
That was their mistake, not knowing which boxer puncher will beat you up.

Broner vs maidona !!
Broner dosent win based on his abilities but wins if maidona doesn’t come in with the will to win big and gives away the fight.
It all depends on maidona s performance.

I always said if he didn’t use lateral movement against Chino he was in deep du du. Since Broner doesn’t have that ability he’s still in deep du du at 140 Danny and Lucas will destroy him at 135 Gamboa, Mickey and Crawford will destroy him so where does he go from here. Even Khan will destroy him.

Anyone who really thought Broner was going to beat Maidana after Broners piss poor showing with Paulie either don’t know boxing or get persuaded to easily by the scribes and commentators – Every time someone told me that Broner was gonna kick Maidana’s ass I asked them what are they basing that assumption on- Tark of course was the leader of the Broner flag ship,-peace

Posted January 15, 2014 3:27 pm

BIG DADDY

Yeah Roy that’s cool, but why didn’t you say that BEFORE the fight. Correct me if I’m wrong but you said that Broner had the necessary skills to defeat Maidana. Now, after the fact….

Jones like many people are second guessing GBP matchmaking in the wake of Broner’s ass kicking. Fact is he was a big favorite to win and most of us thought Maidana was simply too slow to catch him. It’s easy to say it was a bad matchup after a dude loses.

Rushing to an immediate rematch it’s a huge mistake & Broner will get his a*s beat again.

Posted January 15, 2014 3:05 pm

IRON MIKE

Broner has way to many bad habits, and no matter what he changes nothing can change the fact that he can’t take the punch of a welter,
We will see the same outcome, maybe even a KO for mai9dana,I think he needs to grow into this weight class, jumping into it has shown us he is to small.-PEACE

wearerofallthebelts

I think Broner truly thought he could win and convinced GB to get him the fight. I remember after the Mallinagi fight he was all over Twitter asking fans to list who they thought he should fight because ‘he could beat anyone’. It was overwhelmingly Maidana. So I actually give Broner a lot of credit for going after and getting the fight. He miscalculated his opponent and got his ass beat but it happens. He wasn’t brutally KO’d. He can still have a good career IF he can avoid another miscalculation…like say, an immediate rematch. He needs to drop down in weight or at least take a tune up. Boxing history tells us the odds of a different outcome in an immediate rematch will not be in his favor to say the least. I hope his handlers realize this.

Perhaps they should’ve gave broner the belt instead of fighting paulie, and then he could’ve moved up in weight without fighting anyone.

Broner was lauded as already being a two-time champ before he fought Maidana. GBP picked Maidana because they knew it would be a good fight but they also expected Broner to win, even though he barely squeaked by Malignaggi. There’s no way GBP would have made the fight if they though Maidana was going to beat him up like he did.

I think Broner will do much better in a rematch. But I don’t think “starting fast” as his trainer Miker Stafford wants him to do, will guarantee that he will win their second match.

Cole did his best to help Broner win. Watch, next fight they’ll pick Steve Smoger to ref and Broner definitely will win.

However I believe Broner will comeback a better fighter, he was starting to believe his own hype.

Posted January 15, 2014 12:49 pm

Broner was moved too fast but he was never the 2nd in coming, and picking the weakest WW champ proves nothing as made evident by Maidana.

I never thought much of Broner, i thougth he was all hype and careful matchmaking. He’s too easy to hit and he’s a clown. Maidana is tough as nails, but he’s crude and can be out boxed, I’m not convinced Broner can do anything but pose and use his elbows/forearms to hold you down so he can hit you. I hope this time Maidana retires him and brushes his hair while he’s KTFO.

Broner is perfect for an opening circus sideshow act. A fighter that acts like he is the greatess then get beaten up for 12 straight rounds. Broner was just a flash in the pants.

mansworld

I cant say I didnt see this one coming Two problems with Broner first he has no discipline you never see great fighters making sex tapes rapping clowning doing all the baffonery he does. Just months before the bout he was extremely out of share and on tour with little Wayne. Broner was very overhyped, And it was apparent in the first round that he wasnt prepared for Maidana, Marcos is a beast he simply bit off more that he can chew. The 147lbs hit very hard he needs to fall back down to 135-140. It seems like his pride wont let him do it though. But if he fights Maidana again it might be worst than last time. Unless he tried to stay on the outside and use his speed to outbox him like he should have did the first time.

147 is too high for Broner, especially since he uses no foot work. But saying he shouldn’t have fought him is only in hindsight. But after the Paulie fight there where many people who said Maidana was gonna win.

Why not? I like Jones Jr, but there’s too much of that “he shouldn’t have fought him” mentality going on. What better way for Broner to test himself than the risk of fighting Maidana?
