I just waiting for Arum and King to die… The wicked all die sooner or later. It just seems to take a long time. They never retire — just fade away.Posted January 19, 2014 2:57 am
Fight Aficionado, yep your correct. It would have been like spitting on his gravePosted January 19, 2014 12:10 am
“Regarding Jose Suiliman it looks like ESB is trying too hard to avoid controversy. Virtually all boxing fans didn’t like the man and I guess they didn’t want to read a lot of insults.” – Exaclty. ESB knows we’re prone to insults and rants regardless of topic. I disliked Sulaiman as much as anyone and would’ve had a hard time avoiding that impulse. So I don’t have a problem with ESB avoiding what surely would’ve become a train wreck.Posted January 18, 2014 5:34 pm
This is no super fight. Bute is a dead dog with no confidence. His body language coming into this fight tells you everything you want to know. He looks like a ghost going through the motions.
Pascal is a horrible boxer, and easy to beat, but will probably beat the crap out of Bute and knock him out anyway. Bute even closed his eyes during the stare down. Pathetic. He doesn’t want to fight and certainly doesn’t look ready.Posted January 18, 2014 1:16 pm
20,000 plus fans tonight in Montreal. Why is this so big? It is because it features two good local fighters meeting each other. We hardly ever see this anywhere else in the world.Usually local rivals avoid each other like the plague. No wonder boxing has been reduced to a niche sport.Posted January 18, 2014 9:36 am
Bye bye Bute!Posted January 17, 2014 11:38 pm
JOSE SULIAMAN Have you considered that quite possibly the administrators of this site, as did many other boxing fans around the world, grew tired of having our intelligence insulted and being ‘SLAPPED IN OUR FACES’ by him and his administration with total disregard. Sure he did many good deeds but so did Hitler and Idi Amin, and I’m not trying to outright compare Don Jose to them, only an example. I do believe many of the positive things he did were for the good of the sport, while others were to polish up his/WBC tarnished image. Do his good decisions exonerate him from the countless of CRIMES he committed against boxing? Not everybody feels like you do and possibly the administrators of ESB rather not be hypocrites. Yes, he was a family man and a human being. He deserves to rest in peace just like anyone else.Posted January 17, 2014 7:52 pm
Pascal dealt with Froch much BETTER than Bute DID. Pascal WINS .Posted January 17, 2014 7:49 pm
nothing beats a bragging rights scrap and this one will be a great one – got a feeling bute is going to surprise everyonePosted January 17, 2014 4:35 pm
Well, enjoy it. … Must admit that I’ll try and find it to watch on the internet on Sunday, so my last comment was curmudgeonly.Posted January 17, 2014 4:22 pm
21,000 boxing fans in the Bell center. In Montreal we love boxing. It will be crazy tomorow night. Let’s get ready to rumble!Posted January 17, 2014 4:11 pm
Both these fighters have looked dreadful in their last fights. Only a Canadian could get excited about this.Posted January 17, 2014 3:49 pm
Regarding Jose Suiliman it looks like ESB is trying too hard to avoid controversy. Virtually all boxing fans didn’t like the man and I guess they didn’t want to read a lot of insults. Also ESB didn’t write anything on Holyfield’s quotes regarding orientation. Another controversial area, but at least people disagree with holyfield. No one liked Suiliman, except maybe his relatives.Posted January 17, 2014 2:50 pm
What happened to ESB?
Jose Sulimain/ Vivek Wallace/ Ted’s bull and cigar club/ Bill Patric Jones/ Sharkies machine So many of the proper writers ESB had are gone and the site is filled with crap like Michael Collins. Someone please enlighten me as to what happened?Posted January 17, 2014 2:36 pm
a canadian super fight. best joke of the new year.Posted January 17, 2014 2:25 pm
Pascal to win – If he jumps onto Bute early like Frochy did and doesn’t allow Lucy-Ann to get spacing it’s over in the sixth round.Posted January 17, 2014 2:11 pm
Great fight! I’ll take Bute by decision but it could go either way, which is why we will watchPosted January 17, 2014 10:57 am
They both have been inactive.Posted January 17, 2014 10:38 am
Pascal is not Carl Froch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Bute is Lucian Bute !!!
Not to change the subject, but Jose Sulaiman died.Posted January 17, 2014 9:49 am
Neither were born in Canada. Pascal was born in Haiti and Bute was born in Romenia.Posted January 17, 2014 9:44 am
Swedish Boxing Fan
Jean Pascal (31-3-1 KO’s 17) is not shot but he will never become a huge star in boxing now. Pascal is a tought boxer and haves heart and is popular in canada and can become a world light heavyweight champion again I belive BUT he just don’t have that extra to be a dominant champion and with that a super star.
He have only fought 2 fights sence May 2011 when he lost his world title to Bernard Hopkins and not against any top name either if I say so, so why so inactive when in his prime years?
Lineal/WBC champ Adonis Stevenson is to tough for Pascal, IBF champ Bernard Hopkins have already twice proven him over Pascal so those two we have left is WBO champ Sergey Kovalev and WBA/IBA champ Beibut Shumenov so the chanse is there for Jean Pascal and I would like to see him fight against them.Posted January 17, 2014 8:21 am
Yeah this is a great fight. As strange as it sounds the best ive seen pascal was in defeat to froch. He got beat but it was a close close fight. He’s looked wrose though since. Bute on the other hand has never really been outboxed in the way pascal was against froch. So for me its a case of bute to win via points or pascal to find those shots to put butes lights out. I cant really see bute knocking out pascal as froch hit pascal pretty cleanly a lot in their fight but was unable to put him away. So I think im gonna go Bute on points.Posted January 17, 2014 7:01 am
I’m backing bute to win by points in a tough fight but really depends on how the time away from the ring has served bute either refreshed or rusty? Regardless of how there careers have gone this will still be an exciting fight 50/50 fights between aggressive fighters always are. And the winner is sure to fight Stevenson in a Canadian super duper fight. 2014 looks good for Canadian boxingPosted January 17, 2014 6:26 am
JUST DO IT!
GR8 fight to be expected. I heard this fight was talked about as Canadas version of Pac vs Mayweather thats actually gonna happen. Well done guys for giving the fans what they want. Floyd take note.Posted January 17, 2014 6:14 am
Super fight of over the hill leftovers of Froch and B-hop,some super fight…Posted January 17, 2014 5:50 am
“Bute is not only a better boxer than Pascal but also a better puncher…” – True. I expect Bute to win without too much trouble. He’s gotten a lot of Haterade from fans since getting KOed, but he remains a stylish boxer with a good punch. He’ll be motivated to make people forget about Froch.Posted January 17, 2014 3:35 am
This is indeed a Superfight for the Canadians. Especially in Montreal, which is an amazing fight town that sells out arenas even for non-title cards. Also, per capita it has the highest ratio of babe to non-babe of any city I’ve been to. Beats LA anyday. Anyone who’s not gone to Montreal should. It’s an unbelievable place.Posted January 17, 2014 3:33 am
I’m aware about Bute’s chin but that won’t be a factor in this fight…Bute’s a far better operator than Pascal & he’s winning this fight.Posted January 17, 2014 3:27 am
Bute is not only a better boxer than Pascal but also a better puncher…so despite what Roy Jones said, Bute should win this thing.Posted January 17, 2014 3:19 am
I like both fighters but I’m picking Pascal, he’s a very tough and experienced LHW.Posted January 17, 2014 3:16 am
Going to be a great show!!!Posted January 17, 2014 2:43 am
