No, Rahman should not of been given a shot in the first place.

Rahman should had been in better condition, that would be a better excuse to use.
sad… sad .. sad

To many big macs and fries and junk food and not enough strenth and stamina work.
No excuses Rock.

I NEVER considered Rahman a good fighter. But, please, to say that he is “garbage” and other bad things… – I disagree. The only problem I have is why he had a shot at WBA title? That’s what is garbage. It is undermining the WBA rating and Povetkin’s win is joke because of that. WBA must change itself. Many latest WBA champs were at lease questionable..

Please please please … no more left-overs from the Lewis-Holyfield-Bowe era ……. No more challengers like Rahman and Briggs.

Posted October 1, 2012 5:25 am

Neil (pomy)

I cant believe Rahman got the title shot to begin with …… the actual performance justifies what boxing fans were complaining about. It was a bad matchup to begin with.

Rahman says he was dehydrated? To me it looked as though he was carrying enough water in him to fill a small swimming pool.

Rahman looks like the epitome of hydration! @ around 260 he looks like THE water monster of boxing! Excuses, excuses, he looks like he came for a payday. And he eventually did get paid…..now he can focus on diuretics for the future…..and the desire to rededicate & sacrifice – to actually train like a pro. He looks like he drove a rig a few hundred miles to the fight, came out the truck, then put on magical trunks as though they had powers to turn him into a skilled trained fighter……well he did get paid.

Rahman v. Toney in MMA.

Posted September 30, 2012 6:34 pm

TARK

In this case the Povetkin team combed over possible challengers for somebody who would pose no threat… They came up with Rahman and had the WBA rank him #1.. If they could get Liakhovich, Brewster, or Peter to knock over a couple tomato cans, they could get them ranked too.. Nothing like padding your record with ex-champs.

Can the wba explain their ranking criteria.H Rahman no 1 challenger.Who is their chief rating officer? Please explain in a few sentences.

Hope H Rahman still has money left.He got big money from D King all dem years ago.Sad to see him crumbling and doing da “chicken dance”.

Rachman shows that he really does not have much character with this loss. Though he did seem to show that when he lost to Maskaev the second time, stating to the effect hat perhaps American fighers are not as hungry anymore. He should really blame his loss on one (that he really did not deserve a shot at a so called world title, and never should have been number 1. two (his best years are behind him) three (he doesn’t really take a great punch, look at all his losses) Watching this fight however, I have to say he appeared to land more punches against Povetkin in one and a half rounds that he did in his much longer fight against Wladamir Klitschko.

Posted September 30, 2012 3:40 pm

Old Man

I want to see Povetkin fight one of the klitschkos.

Posted September 30, 2012 12:58 pm

Mr Rubes

Daly Jr you are right unfortunately that the up and comers are kept from each other :( But hopefully this trend will start to break soon, there are already signs it is. And Roberrt I’m sure you were a Haye cheerleader predicting he would knock out Wlad too I guess ;)

Posted September 30, 2012 11:38 am

Mr Rubes

haha somebody pretending to be me. Maybe I am arrogant and boring…that’s ok I guess :) Price is certainly more talented than Fury but Fury will go further than Price imo. Do I sound crazy…maybe I do and maybe I am but we will see. By the way, it’s not his low key way. That’s ok. It’s his body language and demeanour in and out of the ring. He is a very nice guy I’m sure. But a fighter? I’m very skeptical. I could be wrong but let’s see :)

Gonzo The Dragonborn

American fighter goes over to Europe, especially Germany, and has a very valid reason *cough.. I mean excuse.. cough* for getting their ass kicked? Haven’t we heard this song before, like almost every single time one of them manages to summon the courage to come over here?

How do you come in overweight and say you are dehydrated. Rahman is garbage and needs to chose another profession.

Posted September 30, 2012 10:40 am

KO KIDD

That fight was an embarrassment. Rahman looked like a god damn statue. No movement no punches he didnt or couldnt pull the trigger. He looked so gun shy and shot. In his interviews he looked so punchy. I dont think he is dehydrated i think he is just done

The WBA should have extreme legal action taken against them for making Rahman No 1 contender and letting him fight. It was clear his legs were weak before he entered the ring, whether dehydration, knee injury, age, brain damage, who knows,it doesn’t matter,he wasn’t fit to box,let alone at this level.Boxing is becoming a disgrace.Povetkin is a disgrace for taking the fight.I hope he finds his testicles and fights a real live heavyweight.Put him in with Stiverne and he’ll knock that pudding bowl right clean off Mr Staypuft’s fat neck. This sort of crap saddens me.I can only dream of the heavyweight division being stacked with real fighters again one day.The B leve;l fighters of the 90’s would destroy Marshmallows like Povektin…Tommy Morrison,Razor Ruddock,Tua, Barrett etc,all would pulp Povetkins fat face to something resembling a custard tart…i feel sorry that Wlad has such thin competition…Chisora would be up for a fight with the Podgevetkin…he’d beat the jam out of the doughnut…..but knowing what the lump of lard is like and his team, they’ll probably see if Tyrell Biggs or Buster Douglas are available, preferably at short notice…

Dehydrated ??? More like having a knee injury treated so he can at least limp to the ring. He almost fell down the stairs because he couldn’t hold himself.

Posted September 30, 2012 9:47 am

hairypudding

Sorry rahmen you are a heavyweight and you can fight at any weight. Theres no need to dehydrate yourself to get down to a certain weight.
That russian beat your ass plain and simple
povetkin destroys haye if haye will fight him which I doubt

Posted September 30, 2012 9:07 am

rahman was in terrible shape, worse is the fact that the WBA made him No 1 contender that should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Rahman had not fought any eliminators and his level of opponents since wlad is terrible. the undercard fight with pulev and ustainov was a higher caliabre than this.

Rubes……………… i said the same thing about Price could turn into the next Audley Harrison a long time ago lol. They do have some of the same trates, but Harrisson is just plain scared of getting hit. I dont think David will turn out to be the same as Audley, but he does have a few things which remind me of him. All the same, i still say Price is better than Fury. Povetkin, Fury, Price, and Pulev would be a good series of fights, but you know they will all be kept away from eachother

Dehydrated? Rahman looked like he had 20 pounds of excess water weight on him. Was he trying to sweat off weight for th weighin so he didn’t seem outrageously fat — and only took the fight to get an unearned a fat check???

Posted September 30, 2012 12:33 am

I agree with Rubes on Klubrat–I always appreciated the way he has fought and he has moved up well with the exception of that freight train fight.

Posted September 29, 2012 11:47 pm

Alonzo

If he was dehydrated then I’d hate to see how much he’d blubber up when hydrated. Don’t add water, folks!!

And besides he’s heavyweight–this ain’t mma where he has to weigh in at 170lbs and then rehydrate.

Posted September 29, 2012 11:44 pm

Mr Rubes

Povetkin would beat Price. A lot easier than people think. As would many others. Back when Wlad was getting KO’d by Sanders I predicted one day he will be the dominant force in the heavies. People laughed. Back when Pulev had only 6 or 7 fights I predicted Pulev will make himself the stand out contender by far, no question (obviously Klitschkos still top dogs) people laughed “what’s so special about Pulev?” I saw early. And he is nearly that now. I could go on with more exampls but I don’t want to bore or sound arrogant. But I know I have a good sense and nose for characteristics and mentality and psychology of boxers/fighters, maybe it helps that I’m also a practicing kickboxer/martial artist and compete, although not now in quite a while. Anyway, with Price, and listen to these words, is going to disappoint a lot of British people. He doesn’t have the mental make up when he will be in there with someone with skills and a strong will to hurt him. Remember this. I’m not going to say that Harrison will be the man to expose thise, although I won’t rule that out, it is possible, but Harrison is so ordinary himself, it might not be him. But watch, Price will ultimately turn out to be Audley Harrison version 2, and ironically it might even be Harrison himself who sets this out! :) If not Harrison, then in a couple of fights later. watch ;)
