Cheatin Chihuahua says.., “I like Salido, not a sore loser like Mikey.”

When has Mikey ever lost??? …

Last time I looked he was an undefeated 2-Division World Champion at 34-0… Salido got knocked down 4 times on route to a one-sided loss to Mikey… He was a loser… and he was sore all over.

Messyhoe, who do you like for the Salido/Lomachenko bout?

I’m leaning toward Salido, I don’t care what the hype is for Lomachenko.

That was then and this is now.

To Messy Hoe ,,, your full of it ,, Mikey Garcia fought Juan Manuel Lopez at 126 lbs you idiot it was not 122 lbs and by the way Mikey Garcia beat the heck out of your boy Danny Garcia in the amateurs .

I’ve only seen Mikey hurt by guys that have at least good power, and who knows, maybe he will move up and take punches even better when he doesn’t have to drain himself to make weight, im not saying it’s the reason, but it could be a big factor, sometimes it works out like that, sometimes it backfires. Only time will tell, but I don’t think his chin is any worse than Gamboas, and he is very skilled and pretty fun to watch.

Posted January 26, 2014 8:40 pm

Labumba Tumbo

Gamboas only chance of victory over Mickey is by stoppage . TRUST ME !

Posted January 26, 2014 8:11 pm

Labumba Tumbo

Mickey is a great talent still young and learning if you compare manny with him at the same age , there is no comparison . Mickey all the way to bad manny is of old age and no longer has the speed in his body to keep up with these younger fighters , manny is already going grey and slow before our eyes .maybe with the right chemical enhancement he can bring back the youth and vigor of his past fights.

Garcia does not have a questionable chin. How many times have you seen him get dropped and hurt where he was wobbling and had to hold on? Garcia does not have a questionable chin. He is a good fighter with good power. Also has very good defense. He needs to grow into each weight division, not keep moving up.

Posted January 26, 2014 5:16 pm

Hec Dog

Garcia showed he has a long ways to go, and a questionable chin. Martinez dropped him, Burgos rocked him and he has yet to fight a top fighter that has speed orpower. Mikey fights in a comfort zone. He throws a good 1-2 punch when he is at the right distance and guys are just standing there waiting, but if you move or feint, he will be thrown off. Mikey also has no idea how to fight backing up or fight inside. He has that awkward look on his face, and his inside game consists of holding with one hand and hitting the back of his opponents head. He will not stand and trade. Does Mikey lack Charisma? Yes! He’s going to be a hard sell for the networks. Eventually, he will have to fight Mathysse. Maidana, Danny Garcia, Broner, and God forbid Manny Pacquiao, and he will be seriously exposed. Mikey and his camp should have continued on their pace and allowed the fans and media to do all the talking. Instead, he opened his mouth and said he could beat Manny Pacqquiao before he had even accomplished anything. He has plenty of fights before he even comes close to fighting the legend. Mikey has now opened up the door to be criticized each and every fight, and he will be. He was barely under the radar, now he’s way above it. This kid will learn a lesson soon. Gamboa will play with him and easily beat him, trust me…

Peej ………I definately think the Pac Rios fight was pretty lame but Manny is pretty small for a welter and Rios is a bit closer to Pac than Marquez was to Floyd, but no I didn’t realy want to see Pac Fight Rios but He couldn’t get the fight he wanted re matching Marquez and I don’t think it proved all that much, but it kept him busy and I guess he needed the payday.

I agree, I think the only one realy pressing the fight between Pac and Garcia is Arum. I figure he’s looking at it like it’s not to big a loss for Garcia, when he looses he can just go back down in weight, but Im a big Pac fan and I don’t realy want to see that, it’s the kind of nonsense I expect from TMT .

Floyd doesn’t ever step on the scale the day of the fight. That is why nobody ever knows his weight the day of the fights.

Good fight by Mikey. After he nailed Burgos good, Burgos pretty much went into his shell for the rest of the fight because he didn’t want to get nailed again.

But if Mikey thinks he’s ready now for Pacman or that he’ll be ready for him by September, he better think real hard on that. Arum too, because Pac will clean Mikey’s plow.

A lot of fighters come in at a higher weight than they agree, It gives them a good edge and makes them look better, Castillo did it in the 2nd fight with Chico, then the third fight was canceled on fight night because Coralles didn’t accept. Floyd did it with Marquez, and refused to weigh in on fight night they said ringside it was rumored that he weighed over 160. It almost backfired when Cotto came in heavy against Chop Chop.

It is not a known fact. Check boxrec and it shows JuanMa came in weighing 125 and 1/4. Garcia came in at 128. The limit was 126. Yes he did come in heavy but I don’t think he did it on purpose.

I think Crawford would give him a hell of a fight. I am pretty high on Crawford. Not sure if Mikey can win that one.

Posted January 26, 2014 12:17 pm

Ike

Garcia fought Juan Manuel Lopez at featherweight (126 lbs.) just 7 months ago. It’s completely unfair to mention him in the same breath as Pacquiao who fights at 147 lbs. Garcia has had two fights at 130 lbs. I’d like to see him move up to 135 and fight Gamboa and/or the winner of Burns-Crawford. Miguel Vazquez would give a tough fight too. But talk of Manny Pacquiao or even anyone at 140 lbs. is premature.

Posted January 26, 2014 12:10 pm

PEEJ

Garcia also isn’t a 140 pound fighter so to say he gets beat by anybody at 140 or above is really of importance at the moment. He needs to grow into each division he goes to. I think he does have the power. If you see after he hit Burgos with that shot in the 3rd or 4th Burgos didn’t really want engage to much with Garcia. He fought some decent comp and has stopped them. I think if the Salido fight would of kept going he would of still won. He had already knocked him down 4 times.

Posted January 26, 2014 12:00 pm

Love-the-Sport

I don’t know whether Garcia cheats or not.

Salido cheats — so if Garcia cheats and Salido cheats — then it was a fair fight.

And when Garcia fought Salido he gave Salido a very tough fight.

I though Garcia begged out of the fight with the broken nose — and I would like to have seen it go the entire 12 rounds and I am not sure Garcia would have lasted.

But what I did see is Garcia give a very tough fight to Salido who is one of the toughest fighters among the smaller guys.

So, to say that Garcia is an empty no talent cheater — that is not accurate. You guys are just homers defending who knows what.

I think Garcia is over-rated. I think Garcia has less power than pundits think. I think Garcia would get knocked out easily by any of the elite fighters at 140-147.

But I also think Garcia is a good fighter who has given some of the elite smaller guys good tough fights.

Posted January 26, 2014 11:48 am

PEEJ

He came in at 125 and Garcia came in at 128. Nothing about coming in at 122.

Posted January 26, 2014 11:46 am

PEEJ

Once again what did he weigh in at then. What was Lopez weight on fight night? Its not like Lopez has not come in weighing more than his opponents. If Lopez couldn’t make the weight then why did he accept the fight. He didn’t have to.

Posted January 26, 2014 11:44 am

Liver Shot

Garcia was shook by a C level fighter with C level power. They want a shot at Pacquiao? He need more seasoning before climbing in the ring with the big names.

Posted January 26, 2014 11:14 am

PEEJ

Garcia didn’t cheat. And he may have came in over 135 but what did he weigh in at? What did Lopez come in at on fight night? Garcia was throwing up before the fight. Not like he didn’t try to make weight. Garcia is the goods but he needs to have a couple of fights at this weight class and then he can move up. Become champ and defend a time or 2 then move up. If he moves up to quickly he will get beat

Posted January 26, 2014 10:49 am

Love-the-Sport

I agree with author. Garcia is good — but not great. And he is certainly not a PPV attraction.

Problem might be weight. He may have real knockout power at featherweight where he walked through Lopez and gave Salido a very tough fight and knocking out pretty much everybody else.

I am not sure Garcia will bring knockout power with him at super featherweight or lightweight.

The idea that he would be matched with Pacquiao — who is at 140-147 — seems ridiculous.

After Juan got tagged in the third round he made peace that he was not getting knocked out… He was happy to lose by decision. He wanted to go back to mexico. He did not want to spend the night at the hospital….

Awesome fight, Garcia showed great defense. Didn’t fight inside but was able to cut the ring off efficiently and was effective when he had to force the fight. The Gamboa fight would be good because even though Garcia was rocked early on again, he still composed himself and stuck to a game plan. Gamboa would be more willing to engage than Burgos was tonight, but I like Garcia’s footwork. He knows how to manage range better than Gamboa.

WHAT!?!

What is all this talk about Mikey Garcia the Super Featherweight having no chance against Pac, D.Garcia, Matthysse, FMJ etc? The key words here are Super Featherweight. All the fighters mentioned by this forums ignorant contributors even go as high as a LHW in Kovalev. Mikey Garcia is young and still learning. He has a lot of raw talent, potential and upsides to his game. Why would he be thrown in to a fight with Jnr Welters and Welters when he hasn’t even reached his peak yet. A Garcia/Gamboa fight could produce a lot of knockdowns. Both guys get tagged, but Garcia is more defensive minded. Still Gamboa would get through that D with his speed. That’s the fight I hope to see.

There’s no need for Garcia to move up at this point. He should stay atb130 and hone his craft. Unless they make him a huge offer at a higher weight class. I would like to see him and Gamboa fight.

Im a real boxing fan, and I thought it was a good entertaining fight, not one of his most exciting performances, but a good fight against a top notch fighter. Mikey showed some amazing defense and I understand a lot of guys just don’t appreciate that, and maybe he doesn’t have the best chin , but I’ve only seen him stunned by guys that are pretty good punchers, and so what he gets up and shows improvement in each fight and isn’t ducking anyone.

Mikey Garcia showed many flaw in this fight. He will have problems with movement, he has no idea how to fight inside, and he doesn’t know how to weave punches. His chin is very questionable, and in the future will be exposed. He has the 1-2 combo and a hook that that makes up his entire arsenal. Gamboa, Broner, Mathysse, Garcia, and every other 140-147 will hurt this kid. Mikey garcia should never, ever mention Manny Pacquiao’s name. he gets pulverized should he ever think of fighting Manny Pacquiao.

First time I’ve seen Jennings. Hard to make sense of him and how far he can go. He isn’t fast, he isn’t powerful, he isn’t big, he isn’t light on his feet. He is efficient, he is effective, he is accurate, he is ring smart, he is very fit. He got the job done and reasonably comfortable. A fight against a gatekeeper would answer some questions, someone like Arreola or Adamek. The fight was enjoyable and quite busy for a HW fight or this era.

Jen 4-1 Szpil. Szpilka almost took that round but I can’t go past the cleaner accurate punches of Jennings. Szpilkas chin seems a worry to me. It isn’t china but it isn’t iron. Saying that Szpilka needs to turn this into a brawl otherwise Jennings will outbox him.

The Prince

One of the better HW fights in recent times.

Hey, That’s my Bike!!!

Jen 3-1 Szpil. Jennings is doing the cleaner work and Szpilka looks like he is trying to load up for a big punch that he can’t get set for. I’d like to see Jennings load up more power on his punches.

Hey, That’s my Bike!!!

Jen 2-1 Spil. Jennings warming up now. Being efficient and effective in his paced workload. Spilka still dangerous though.

Hey, That’s my Bike!!!

Jen 1-1 Spil. Another close one but good action. Liked Jennings cleaner power shots but Spilka may have more power when he lands clean. Jennings has a home for the short left hook and lead right. Needs to throw them more.

Hey, That’s my Bike!!!

Jennings 0-1 Spilka. Even round but I liked Spilka movement and early work.
