Wilder style is ‘wild’…..nickname should be ‘the human windmill’.When chin gets tested..he’ll do ‘rubber legs dance’.

Rees vs Buckland wss a fantastic contest. I was at the motorpoint and whoever put some of these fights together did his job well. In the programme i read that Dorian Darch is in full time employment and that due to location he only has one sparring partner and thats a cruiserweight. As he says “its good for speed but when you get hit by a proper heavyweight you really feel it” . Having seen and met a lot of these part time boxers i.e ones who hold down jobs as well as box i think they are due respect as much as top class boxers. If it werent for these guys you woundnt have a show. Also Chris Jenkins showed promise in his victort for the wbc international belt. A good learning fight for Chris having previously won prizefighter. Hopefully a British title fight is in the not too distant future.

Boxing Barlow, Price was always suspect in the chin department however i think Price’s problem stems form 2 key areas, confidence, fitness and the fact when he first fought Thompson the stoppage was caused by a perforated ear drum. I know sounds like excuses but Price is not Joshua and vice versa. I saw Joshua fight Roberto C ( won’t insult the spelling of his name but there we go) in both the World championship at amateur and Olympics and take the punches clean and give them back and he had stopped Price and is known for his power.

I don’t see a David Price who needs to always watch for hard counter punchers or Harrison who fights scared but a guy who if his chin when tested stands up then as the tools to be a good fighter. World champ? Time will tell.

Joshua looks good imo. Another fight or two at this level then slowly start to move him up. Id go two bum fights then Skelton, sprott, mcdermott then stepping up slightly to sexston. Id even throw him in with Audley Harrison at some point. This should see his year out before stepping up to chisora level for the start of next year.

Also calling Darch a bin man, lets get this right he had gone 8 with Hughie Fury in a decent scrap and in his other defeats before this fight fought contenders and done ok in them. Joshua has fought Butlin who is bit of a journeyman but his first fight was against a fella who on paper was unbeaten (not many heavies fight a guy on their début with a 0 in the loss column). In short Joshua is like other prospects going along nicely. Another 6-10 fights lets see him and Hugie Fury go at it and then we will know where both are at. Would be nice fight for both and would give us a clearer picture.

Joshua needs too be in at the 17 stone (238ibs) mark to be fair or just lighter however to say he is muscled bound ignores the fact when he weighed 16 stone 6 (230ibs) for one fight on his début the author then levelled the same criticism. That is he was to muscled bound, his foot work was not good and he did not have one punch power. You could cut and paste this authors review form that first one and it is the same argument.

Joshua as now stopped 4. His jab his hard and caused damage, his right rather than taking a guy out is hard and damaging leaving the opponent in trouble for follow up attacks. In short Joshua’s arsenal is formidable, his jab though not fact is damaging, his right is a hard punch which does damage. Also for a guy his size he moves ok (he is not a middle weight ffs he has reasonable foot movement) though is not a graceful type but uses the ring well. Now if the author reads the comments section i have seen Wilder and his technique is shocking, at this stage it was dire and still is. He relies on power to save him and that is all. Answer this can you please state what Wilder has in his technique that Joshua doesn’t because i don’t see it myself.

I thought Rees was unlucky to get the decision last night. Buckland fought a good fight and out worked Rees but Rees landed the cleaner shots and did the better work over all.

Totally unfair criticism of Joshua in his fight with Darch. Joshua is a four fight novice professional and is being compared to Klitschko!! Give him a break! From what I’ve seen he is being matched pretty carefully but that would be expected at this point in his career. There are obviously technical issues to be looked at in terms of footwork etc., but that is the whole point of fights like these so they can be ironed out.
The only part of the article I would tend to agree with is that Joshua is carrying too much muscle and would do well to concentrate on conditioning and slim down somewhat as this bulk could be detrimental to him in a longer fight.

Bill Phanco’s report on Jushua’s fight makes little sense and is unfair. Anthony has blown away quite solid opposition (Darch had gone 8 rounds with Hugie Fury in his previous fight) in short order and looks good so far. Wilder, for his part, still fights this kind of fighters after not 3 but 30 bouts, so what’s so impressive about that? Any way as with all beginners time will tell. Joshua seems to embark on a very busy schedule and don’t be surprised if he’s in title contention in 18 months time…

Textbook Hayelord

I know Joshua hasn’t been a pro for long but can eddie put him in against a guy with more than 1 knockout next time please, up the stakes a little and put him in against a guy with two knockouts. Good prospect but these extremely safe fights are tedious. My bookies wouldn’t even take bets on it.
