Reality.., “The how division is its poorest for decades.”
Reality/John.., “True. but anybody with half a brain knows that.”
That what people with half a brain think all right… Because Americans don’t rule they they fall back on the BS excuse that the whole division sucks.
When in Boxing history to have you ever had 2 master boxers—both with KO ratios of over 85%—rule the division for over 10 years? … And when did you have undefeated Heavyweight challengers in their 20′s who were 6’9″ X 250 and 6’7″ X 225?
Plus you have 6’3″ X 257 Carlos Takam, who recently belabored Mike Perez in a ridiculously scored fight … and seems to scared off all other contenders.Posted February 10, 2014 5:57 pm

two bouncers couldnt handle alex! hahaha. i bet those filthy bouncers started it to! 2 on 1 isnt really fair is it? most doorman love the aggessive tactics when they try to remove an unwanted patron! some times for no reason!Posted February 10, 2014 4:18 am
Believe me. It’s better than watching Ali vs Alfredo Evangelista, Buster Mathis, Joe Bugner, Mac Foster, or Rudy Lubbers.Posted February 10, 2014 2:50 am
Please dana white take over this freaking heavyweight circus. It is a total joke. Wlad next opponent will be a rematch with mormeck because some governing body will make it a mandatory fight.Posted February 9, 2014 11:05 pm
Who said Leapai only used his fist to assault the door men? He might have used a lug wrench or something which makes more sense as far as prison time goes. I do not see Leapai as being a spectacular opponent for Klitschko. Being a selected opponent for Boytsov is different from being an accomplished title challenger. Leapai will either go into survival mode and be KOed in the middle rounds or go kamikaze and be KOed early.Posted February 9, 2014 7:37 pm

a combination of pressure from alex and a good ref who wont allow wlad to hold could hopefully upset wlads game! alex cant afford to let wlad jab him up and needs to get to work from the get go. boxing needs a new champ! someone needs to beat this guy!!Posted February 9, 2014 4:31 pm
Abolish the HW division!!Posted February 9, 2014 4:21 pm
good observation, i agree leapai lacks coordination some times when he punches but when he does connect it must hurt. ask boystov! boystov was back peddling the whole fight! leapai done good considering he tore his calf muscle in the second round. he took all off boystovs punches with ease and kept marching in. leapai said in an interveiw that he sensed boystovs fear during the second round.Posted February 9, 2014 3:08 pm
I youtubed this contender after reading this article as I’d never heard of him…. How has he got a title shot? He is the perfect style for wlad, a short, stationary target with little defence and terrible accuracy…. I can sense this one being a total walkover.Posted February 9, 2014 10:09 am

alex is a pressure fighter with some serious power! he will be the aggressor in this fight. watch out for his thundering over hand rights and his clubbing upper cuts! the ref needs to allow a free flowing fight and state to both no holding is allowed or points will be deducted!! if its free flowing than i think leapai could possibly win this!Posted February 8, 2014 8:40 pm
I SEE GOOD

So , now it’s another life line for the ” beat Wlad ” hopers ( or I should say NO hopers ) ; Alex Lepai ! Great , I wish Lepai the best of luck , he’s going to need it . Also give it a rest with all that ; ” clinching and hugging ” crap . True
Why is he regarded as having a good chin? He’s been knocked out twice already and once against the featherfist Kevin Johnson, he’s rubbish!Posted February 8, 2014 3:07 pm
Just as the saying gos: there is a thin line between a madman and a genius…there is a thin line between a nobody and a somebody. A guy with a good punch and sturdy chin has a chance no matter what the odds are. Wlad appears to be fighting a nobody, but the guy has proven he can take and give big shots,..if stupid, clumbsy, severely flawed Sam Peter can knock Wlad down,… Lepai can not be overlooked as a threat!Posted February 8, 2014 1:47 pm

Bears, I just re-watched Wlad vs Mercer for WBO HW Championship. Looked like a left hook to the temple of Mercer that put him flat on the canvas. He got up at count 6 and took a severe beating until the fight was stopped on TKO. Wlad took a few good shots from Mercer also and his face showed it. Mercer always a tough sum bich, but Wlad pounded him into a loss. Same thing is going to happen to Leapai !Posted February 8, 2014 12:52 pm

I like Wlad and loved Vitali but I like the truth even more, Wlad doesn’t look right lately.Posted February 8, 2014 10:50 am
Bluesman, I get what you are saying and it’s stating the obvious because Wlad does that to everyone, why not Lepai? As far as Kevin Johnson or Jennings go, punches can hurt if they are on the money, flat out. If that were not true Cris Byrd would never have had a single KO. People have off nights also. Lepai beat Boytsov. People can say what they want about Boytsov but I know the guy has very buzzing hard shots and a chin made of reenforced granite. I think Lepai has a mindset of I can do anything now that he’s got a chance and Wlad looked bad last time out, like he’s regressing. I kinda attribute that to Manny being gone and generally him just possibly losing interest a little in the sport overall. That’s just my opinion but of its true, no doubt Wlad is in serious danger. The guy is not invincible he’s had his ass beat for him several times.Posted February 8, 2014 10:48 am
tark. you know as much about boxing as justin bieber does about rock music.Posted February 8, 2014 10:08 am
Leapai is very limited, but he has a heart and is somewhat likeable, in contrast to certain loudmouth heavyweights. Certainly, he will lose to Klitschko, but the fight won’t be such a bumrush as the Povetkin fight. If Boytsov was stupid enough to not train properly, then he was undeserving of the Klitschko fight in the first place.Posted February 8, 2014 8:51 am
He has been ko’d by obscure people no one has ever heard of…..Posted February 8, 2014 7:28 am
nobody said anything below. but has ANYONE ever seen something like wlad vs mercer?????? mercer was literally ktfo round like one and got up and started fighting again? i have never seen someone completely laid out and then get back up and start fighting. wlad knocked mercer out and mercer beat the time and got up from a literal KO and started fighting again. never seen nothing like it. literallly ktfo!!!! boxing must see tape/video!!!Posted February 8, 2014 6:23 am

B Red… I’ve been in NYC bars and have never seen it… Usually they just threaten people. Two bouncers threatened to toss me out for about 30 minutes because I pushed my way in without paying a cover charge. I didn’t figure I had to pay because I had an appointment with the owner. They finally decided to leave me alone and their boss finally showed up a few minutes later. I sold him a TV system with 5 giant screens earlier in the day and we had to finish some paper work.
I’ve seen a few bar brawls and have been in a few, and nobody’s been physically tossed out yet by a bouncer that I can remember. I suppose it happens I just haven’t seen it. I knocked a guy over a table and sent about 15 drinks flying. He made another run at me and about 10 guys jumped on him. It was a horrendous mess to clean up. The bouncers made us shake hands, but we stayed.Posted February 8, 2014 2:37 am
Leapai gonna KO Wlad. You wait ‘n see.
Leapai gonna get inside: one/two downstairs, three/four upstairs. Wlad goin’ down.
Leapai gonna f@ck him up.Posted February 8, 2014 1:55 am
Great story about Alex Leapai, I must admit! I wish him the best of luck!Posted February 8, 2014 1:30 am
@ ThrashNephilim: Kevin Johnson isn’t the hardest puncher out there, though I think he hits harder than he gets credit for (and I believe the same thing with regard to Bryant Jennings). But that being said, Klitshcko can hit much harder than Johnson, so when Wladimir Klitshcko hits Lepai, I think he’ll go down & out, around the 3rd or 4th round.Posted February 8, 2014 1:01 am
Tark as usual doesnt know what hes talking about, NYC Bouncers will.put there hand on you quick, and throw you out the jointPosted February 8, 2014 12:52 am
Not so fast Carl, If you look at the way Wlad fought against Povetkin, it was just like when he fought Brewster the first time. I don’t know if there is a correlation between Manny’s very unfortunate passing or not. But I can say this, this guy hits hard. He’s got a chin, he’s got a chance,… Especially with how Wlad looked in his last time out. Don’t be surprised if Alex Lepai lands on Wlad and gets him in some trouble.Posted February 7, 2014 10:59 pm
Yah sure Alex, and when you see Wlad in the ring you will see his jolting jab in your eyes for 6 rounds and then you will be put to sleep. Night night !Posted February 7, 2014 10:53 pm
Yeah Tark, you’re a hero. Maybe in your soft, X-Box playing, MacDonald eating country the bouncers run for help. In the Pacific, Australasian Islands the bouncers don’t think twice about removing you if you’re being a knob.Posted February 7, 2014 10:51 pm
It’s not going to be a good fight… A good fight is contest with some drama… This won will be a one sided and brutal beating.
If it weren’t for the cherry picking Boytsov Leapai would never have gotten a title shot in a hundred years.. Any other contender would have knocked Boystsov out.
Beating the crap out of people is a crime, even if they started it. But you usually don’t do 4 years in prison… Once a bouncer, who was a local pro wrestler, told a friend of mine, who was 42, to “get out of here or I’ll throw you out.”
I was 24. My friend pointed to me and said, “you’re going to have to throw him out first.” That wasn’t true but it was a good bluff. I stood up and the bouncer turned on his heels walked away. He never bothered us again all night. I wasn’t going to punch him because I didn’t want to go to jail.
I’ve never actually seen a bouncer physically throw somebody out. If somebody refuses to leave they usually back off and say something like, “Calm down or I’ll call the police, and you’ll be arrested.”Posted February 7, 2014 10:27 pm
I think Klitschko will win, but it’s just my opinion, call me crazy but that’s what I think.Posted February 7, 2014 9:51 pm
great read. I wish there were more interesting and engaging stories like this on ESB. let us get to know the stories of the men who fight in the ring, would likely cancel out all of the utter schite articles published, eg. “Floyd mayweather parks in handicap spaces”Posted February 7, 2014 9:39 pm

Leapai is a bum, hes terrible. Watch his fights on Youtube. If Wlad decides to go for a KO this guy is finished within 2. But i doubt it, Wlad will one two clinch for 6 rounds, Leapai will run out of gas because hes a fatty with no stamina, and Wlad will KO him inside 6. I wont see it because i wont waste my time getting up in the middle of the night to watch this rabble.Posted February 7, 2014 8:11 pm

Let Vlad with Leapai, and then he should take on Pulev. I’m convinced Vlad will dominate Pulev, but it’s the fight most people want to see, so the younger Klitschko should take this fight.Posted February 7, 2014 4:37 pm

Wlad plan with pulev. Let him rust then I will take care of him. Rematch with mormeck and pianetta after leapai. Let the serious contenders rust!!!Posted February 7, 2014 1:49 pm
Leapai need to get KTFO and get paid. Simple That’s the plan!!!! The fight is pure comedy. Mandatory, who cares, he did not deserve this and it is an insult to every top 20 boxer and true boxing fans. The division is a joke!!!Posted February 7, 2014 1:47 pm
Good luck Leapai! You will need it…Posted February 7, 2014 1:38 pm
While I disagree with Leapai’s statement about him hitting harder than all of Wlad’s previous conquerors, I really like the guy and hope to bell that he goes balls to the wall early on Wlad and lands a bomb. He has the power to end it but he can’t fall into the same habit of all of Wlad’s previous opponents and just stand there getting jabbed to all bell.Posted February 7, 2014 1:32 pm

Nice story but it means nothing in the context of going against Wladimir, just because you have heart and really want to win doesn’t mean that you will. He can say he fought for the Heavyweight Championship of the World which is no mean feat but aside from a beating and a paycheck that will be all he will take away from this fight.Posted February 7, 2014 1:24 pm
To beat a Klitschko you need a good chin, and this chap really hasn’t!!!Posted February 7, 2014 12:48 pm

very touching story, but Wlad is a jab master and his jab is very hurtful too. Hoping for the best for Leapai but Im not gonna bet against Wlad Klitscho….Posted February 7, 2014 11:29 am

Mr Alex Leapai, no chance. Wladimir hurts him. Not playing rugby now, no team to help, this is heavyweight boxing, one-on-one. Wladimir has too many advantages. WK is of a different calibre, was born to punch dudes out and he is HW champion of the world, y’all!Posted February 7, 2014 10:31 am
Yeah, as much as I support Leapai being that he’s fighting out of Oz and is also a Pacific boy, I’d incredibly surprised if he can get anything going. Even if he can close the distance, we’ve seen how Wlad deals with hard-punching guys that get in close (i.e. see Povetkin fight for reference).
Leapai needs to get inside quickly. When Wlad inevitably clinches, he needs to make it hellaciously rough. Throw low blows when he pulls your head down, throw him to the ground when he leans on you, sneak in some headbutts when he hugs up high, you name it… if Wlad is going to fight dirty, than answer fire with fire and force Wlad into a war. Wlad doesn’t thrive in wars like his brother Vitali, so if you get in his head early that any attempt at clinching is going to result in him getting hurt, you may be able to mentally throw him off his gameplan altogether.
Why doesnt Vlad give Chisora or Fury a shot, oh thats right he cant fight going backwards and he doesnt fight guys taller than him.Posted February 7, 2014 10:11 am
mandatory was pulev a year ago and pulev today. pulev has been mandatory for a while now for ibf. maybe ibf is small. saying that leapai is “mandatory” is blinding us where the sun don’t shine. wlad does not want to fight pulev and that is about it. let us agree on that. not calling anyone dinwit. for some strange reason, wlad does not want to fight pulev. it might be time for an upset. maybe abell or maybe leapai might get their dog day.Posted February 7, 2014 10:08 am
gotta love how they try to “build up” Vlads opponents to something that resembles credible, Kevin Johnson KO’d his ass ffs, Vlad KO rd 5Posted February 7, 2014 10:08 am
You know wladimir is literally in his own league! I say that because I was so annoyed when he fought povetkin how much he’s allowed to clinch after he throws punches, basketball terms it’s like shooting a jumper than holding the other guys jersey so he can’t run for the rebound, garbage man no ones going to beat him while he’s allowed to do thatPosted February 7, 2014 10:06 am
I think what Rod means is what did Leapai do in his career to be in that spot to get the chance to fight for a title shot.Even Boystov at that point was looking very bad and should not have been in that position aswell.Alot of bad title defences lately against guys who should not have had a title shot which ofcourse stinks of corruption.Fighters are moved on a chessboard by the WBO..WBC..WBO..so forth, rather then facing each other for a more realistic box off earning the title shots.Posted February 7, 2014 9:51 am
Quality article.Posted February 7, 2014 9:36 am
Nice article and its a real underdog story but the fact is Wlad is going to comfortably beat Leapai when they meet. IMO Corrie Sanders was a more devastating puncher than LeapaiPosted February 7, 2014 9:23 am
For some reason, Rod can’t get it through his THICK head that this is a mandatory fight. Wlad must fight Leapai because he earned the No. 1 spot by beating Boystov. Get it through your THICK head this is not Wlads choice, it is a mandatory you dimwit.Posted February 7, 2014 8:46 am
Leapai, definitely in the top 50 but probably not in the top 20. He is garbage but wlad will make it interesting and keep him in there for a few rounds so the German fans get their money’s worth. It will be public sparring again just like the pianetta and mormeck fights. Leapai is a joke. This fight is a disgrace.Posted February 7, 2014 8:32 am
Leapai hits harder than all of Wlad’s recent opoonents but I fear a clutching, holding borefest again which can only be sold to German fans, for some reason.
Floyd:What you reckon mama?
Assuming Wladimir is focused as usual and doesn’t take the guy lightly, he’ll close the show sometime around the 5th or 6th round. Wlad being Wlad, he’ll break Alex Leapai down with the jab, grab him some too, and bring the right hand, and maybe the left hook, into play when it’s time. Wlad is pretty basic, but mightily effective.Posted February 7, 2014 6:50 am
I just got done watching wlad vs mercer again! it was FUNNY!! wlad does to mercer what mercer did to morrison in round one put near. he literally knocked mercer out then mercer came to and popped up.. mouth piece was out he was FULLY STRETCHED OUT, then woke up and popped up and kept fighting. one of the funniest things i ever seen in boxing!!!! must see!!! wlad vs mercer round 1!!!!Posted February 7, 2014 6:49 am
If Alex was as tall as Wlad…he has a good chance of winning. But I’ve watched numerous bouts of Wlad fighting shorter guys and he handily beat them all. Best of luck to you Alex.Posted February 7, 2014 6:04 am
I smell a Buster Douglas moment. I too spent time in the holiday camp at Woodford. I hope Leapai does himself justice by doing the hard yards road running. He has always been light on the endurance factor. Run Run Run Leapai, then on 26 April 14, stand and deliver. I have no doubt this fight ends before the 12th. Who will be left standing?Posted February 7, 2014 5:38 am

Great article. However, I found some mistakes.
On line 100, it is said that Kevin Johnson lost a WBA title fight against Vitali Klitschko in 2009. It was a WBC title fight.
On line 101, it is said that Kevin Johnson beat Alex Leapai by a 9th round knockout, which can lead some to believe it was a KO. However, it was a technical knockout, a TKO.
On line 132, it is said that Wladimir Klitschko is the holder of the IBO, WBO, WBA and IBO belts. As you can see, they said IBO twice. Wlad is the holder of the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts.
On line 142, it is said that the W. Klitschko-Leapai fight will happen on April 27, when in reality it will take place on April 26.
Have a nice day, people.Posted February 7, 2014 4:53 am
Good article and everyone I have ever met from the Samoa and the islands surrounding them are just so naturally strong( take a look at rugby most them guys play for New Zealand too).
