“Yo bro…I will be in Scottsdale the week of March 18th/23″

You going to be there for Bike Week?

Posted February 18, 2014 10:58 am

Ha I wish….We got a conference for work there that week bro

Joseph Herron

Hey there, Hidalg0!!

I was just trying to get in touch with you about the fight card on Friday night.

Are you going to attend the weigh in? If you weren’t planning on it, you really should reconsider. The weigh in and the press conferences are part of the entire event.

Those are the events that I really enjoy the most when covering these things…everyone is in a good mood and are greeting all of the fans in attendance. it’s a good time for all.

I really don’t like covering the actual fight…everyone is uptight and the fighters are tired and hungry…they just want to get out of there.

I’m one of the few writers and reporters who actually prefer covering fight night from my home. Weird, right?

The Boxino tournament I’m going to is in Laughlin Nevada at the Edgewater Hotel/Casino Events center. It’s this Friday, Feb. 21.

Are you going to be there Joseph? I’ll email ya.

Yeah, it’s the Boxino tournament. Wife is going with me too. She likes to watch live boxing.

Hey Joseph, I’ll be ringside at the ESPN Friday night fights this week. Live, brother.

It’s a crying shame that boxing talk often becomes racially charged…but just as I stated on the show last night, the fight game often brings out emotional responses that the sport unfortunately depends on.

If fans didn’t care about the fighters and the match-ups so fervently, the sport would cease to exist.

If forums were abolished, the sport of boxing would take a serious ding in popularity. The lifeblood of boxing resides in sites like ESB.

Exactly, especially all the racial crap that is said. That annoys the most.

Posted February 17, 2014 3:55 pm

That is the damn truth PEEJ….The boxing forum at times become a zoo filled with hate.

Well, think I know what I did and I won’t do it again. But you’re right, there’s a lot of tripe slung around on the ESB boards. I’m surprised a bunch of other people haven’t gotten banned for the things they say.

Yeah brother, I thought I heard Teddy Atlas make an appearance!!

In RE to the heavyweights, I usually sum it up in three words….ABOLISH THE HEAVYWEIGHTS!! But we LOVE BYE BYE and we’d love to see the IRISH KNUCKLER
get KO’d!!

Joseph, we love the Charlo Bros, but we’re never quite sure who the hell we’re watching?!!! And, just like in the WWF days, is it Eeffa, Seeka, or Sammali??? Or, Executioner 1, 2 or 3??
To make matters worse, they could be pullin’ the switcheroo between rounds as soon as one starts to tire!! And for that alone, RONNIE IS TRAINER OF THE YR!!!

Joseph Herron

With all of the garbage that some of these guys post, it’s hard to figure out why some of the more respectful people, like yourself, get booted off from time to time.

Crazy!!

Posted February 17, 2014 12:50 pm

Hidalg0

LOL Joseph! Yeah, I did something that got me kicked off ESB for a bit, but it’s good to be back.

Posted February 17, 2014 12:47 pm

Joseph Herron

Good to see you back on the site Hidalg0…LOL

It just goes to show what I’ve known for a very long time…most writers who report and follow the sport really don’t know what they’re looking at. I could go on and on about this, citing many examples but it becomes a tedious chore.

Great to have you back in the family, brother!!

Posted February 17, 2014 12:33 pm

Hidalg0

Talk about a tongue twister: Jermell Jermall. Well, at least they aren’t all named George Foreman Jr. LOL!

Posted February 17, 2014 12:19 pm

Hidalg0

Ronnie’s got himself a helluva stable, Joseph. The Boxing Writer’s Association recently chose Virgil Hunter as trainer of the year, and Robert Garcia thought he was gonna get it, but if it were between Hunter and Shields, I would have given it to Shields.

Both Charlo brothers have an enormous upside and are among the brightest prospects of the entire sport.

A lot to like!! Ronnie has done a tremendous job with both fighters and deserves a lot more credit than he receives from the boxing media!!

I think both are great and I hope they keep on winning….

Posted February 17, 2014 11:28 am

I like the Charlo brothers. Hoping the one fighting Molina will win and not get caught up in the clinch fest that Molina will try to implore.

Posted February 17, 2014 11:20 am

Thanks, brother!! LOL

Posted February 17, 2014 11:17 am

BUSTAJAY

BTW….Your Tony Atlas is the best out there brother….

Posted February 17, 2014 11:10 am

BUSTAJAY

Gogue is correct that we don’t have much out there in the way of HW…..TV /Hollywood people …LMAO…..

WOW…Did not know Wilder was rocked by an over the hill journeyman back in the day. I think I was drinking the kool aid Joseph.

Oh and boxing is an a..SSS beating sport..savage biz….Gogue was on a roll last night…..hate that I missed this live.

Thanks for not comparing Ali in the ring to Broner….but agree on the ability to outrage a crowd. The black hat puts fans in the seats. You were spot on with the WWE point. Mayorga was the best at hyping up a boxing fight and after the fight his smoking in the ring was crazy. I think Gogue was right that the guy was just crazy.

Great segments and good insight.

Both brothers are different and really depends on a fight fan’s personal taste and preference.

If you prefer the fleet footed boxer/puncher, you prefer Jermell

If you prefer knock-outs and a more aggressive minded fighter., you would prefer to see jermall

BUSTAJAY

Joseph and JK which brother do you think is the better fighter?

Posted February 17, 2014 10:30 am

Joseph Herron

Wait till you hear Gogue slam the Heavyweight division…LOL

It’s brutal

Posted February 17, 2014 10:25 am

Canelo VS Lara….would be epic

Posted February 17, 2014 10:24 am

Listening to Ronnie segment now and he is spot on and still maintains a great sense of humor.

Posted February 17, 2014 10:19 am

I hope you enjoy the program, Bustajay.

In my opinion, Ronnie and Gogue’s segments are gold…great nuggets of wisdom from two masters!!

Enjoy!!

Joseph….Great show sorry I missed it live.
Valid points on Floyd and Khan
Great points on the crowd loves to see a bad guy lose…..Ric Flair kept them in the stands for years…..WOOOOOOOOOAH
Mayorga knew how to build up a fight, too bad he could not always execute.

Khan is so desperate to get a cashing out fight. If he gets the fight, he’ll retire afterwards. Khan is not interested in carrying on a boxing career or winning belts. He just wants that lottery pay day, simple as that. Fight Maidana please, Khan is just trying to cash out.
