Here are four reasons Mayweather vs. Khan is a bad idea:

(1) Khan barely beat Diaz and looked like hot garbage. He should’ve stayed with Roach.
(2) Floyd is wasting one of his last 4 fights on this piece of hot garbage
(3) the fight will not be competitive
(4) Floyd doesn’t have enough power or throw enough punches to stop Khan

Here are four reasons Mayweather vs. Khan isn’t such a bad idea:

1. Brash Personalities
It’s become a typical scene heading into a Floyd Mayweather fight. Boxing’s pound-for-pound king hurls all sorts of insults at his opponents, but you rarely hear them fire back with witty phrases of their own.

That won’t be the case with Amir Khan.

Khan enjoys talking as much as Mayweather does, so the build up to their bout would be filled with entertaining anecdotes and sharp comebacks. That should lead to solid ratings for Showtime’s All Access show.

2. Speed
Floyd Mayweather typically enjoys a decent speed advantage over his opponents, but that won’t be the case if he ends up squaring off against Khan in May. At the very least, Amir should be able to match Mayweather’s speed, which means he might be able to give Money problems early on, just like Zab Judah did during the opening rounds of his 2006 encounter with Floyd.

3. Willingness to take risks
Some would say Amir Khan’s biggest weakness as a boxer is the fact he has a tendency to get carried away during fights. He doesn’t clinch up with his opponents when he should, and his typical reaction to getting hit hard is to drop his guard, step forward, and swing for the fences. Khan’s mental immaturity cost him big during his three loses, and it might very well lead to his demise if he ends up facing Mayweather in May.

It sure would make the fight entertaining to watch though.

4. Nationalistic British fans
It’s no secret, British boxing fans can be fanatical, especially when it comes to Floyd Mayweather. You know, the guy that handed their golden boy, Ricky Hatton, his first professional loss inside the squared circle (Floyd’s last legitimate knockout), a loss the Brit never fully recovered from.

Heck, while we’re at it, we might as well blame Mayweather for all of Hatton’s problems since then, from excessive weight gain to drug issues.

That ought to be enough to fire up British fans, meaning decent Sky Sports pay-per-view sales. Probably enough to make up for what might end up being weak sales — at least compared to Mayweather vs. Saul Alvarez — in the U.S.

The both are good fighter but both have flaws Maidana is a hard puncher but he is slow and easy to hit. Kahn is fast and easy to hit hell he could beat both guys on th same night. Either way its easy pay.

Again, I think Maidana vs. Mayweather is the better fight but Khan vs. Mayweather is OK if it is in a small ring and both guys actually fight.

I would point out that Maidana vs. Mayweather is a better fight than Alvarez vs. Mayweather.

Why?

Alvarez is predictable. He throws hard punches but he is predictable. Maidana is unpredictable. He throws from odd angles. And Maidana is relentless. Alvarez fights for only small parts of each round.

Maidana vs. Mayweather is a good fight that has potential to be a great fight with a lot of drama.

Khan vs. Mayweather … quick fight analysis
– Khan is taller with long arms — not that easy to hit if he keeps his hands high and holds his defense
– Problem is that Khan never keeps his hands high and never holds his defense
– Khan has fast hands but he is not likely to catch Mayweather with anything meaningful

In my opinion, Khan vs. Mayweather is an OK fight — better than most would expect. Key will be whether Khan moves forward or backward. If Khan moves forward we will have a good fight because there will be good exchanges and Khan will get hit and frankly Mayweather will get hit with Khan and his fast hands. If Khan moves backward this fight is a sleeper.

Overall — Mayweather should fight Khan — it is a safer fight. But the fans should demand Maidana. There is more danger, more excitement. If it ends up being a Khan fight, then fans should demand a 15 foot ring so these guys will actually fight and nobody runs.

Maidana vs. Mayweather … quick fight analysis

– Maidana is easy to hit, Floyd will pot shot and move, sticking Maidana with jabs, check hooks, and lead right hands
– Maidana will be relentless, chase Floyd aggressively, throw punches from odd angles, throw hard punches

In my opinion, good fight with a potential for a great fight. Sooner or later Maidana will catch Floyd with something and we will have drama. Maidana vs. Mayweather is a dangerous fight for Mayweather and as such for fans a good solid fight.

Sure Khan can punch.. Just not very hard.

Stopping Paulie??? Even Hatton stopped Paulie… Flooring Maidana? So what??? He came out in worst shape than Maidana did…
Garcia has a massive edge in power over Khan… So has Prescott.

But it isn’t your power… It’s your defense … and Khan has none.

Fight hard to call, but I think maidana has the fight base on former last broner and maidana ppv. But think maybe khan has a better chance, Floyd no broner he has head movements, think maidana to short too to reach Floyd. Then he being slower will eat leather all night.

Hidalg0, porter has a undefeated record counting amateurs of 320 something fights. One draw that he revenge. No losts. That many many golden tournaments around the world. That the fighting the best of the best only GGG has a 300 undefeated armature too.
Also he won this at 167lb he fighting at a lower weight now and he gain speed and has the same power, he knock down James kirtland in 8 round of sparing and bloodied both noses, he real and was the avoided fighter that now has a belt. He could beat GGG but both for them are train by the former trainer of Terry noriss, and have the same 5 punch attack. Would Floyd would fight both ? Nope. But he has no need too.

Tark ,khan has speed ,reach very underrated punching power that put down Judah stoped beat and stop malinagi like no one else and droped Maidana with a body shot and he is always in great condition …yeah he lost a few fights by ko but if he box against mayweather and mayweather tries to stop khan and open up he will te the shock of his life … Khan CAN PUNCH !

Posted February 18, 2014 8:55 am

Adrian

@Get over it ,
First of all I am not saying khan would definetly beat mayweather but it will be a very tough fight for mayweather to do what he does wich his out point his opponents because of khan speed reach and agility and mayweather does well against come forward slow fighters (Maidana , Guerrero ,baldomir )because he is a counterpuncher type fighter and khan is not like that khan can be a great counterpuncher when he wants and focus and it want be easy for mayweather to dominate .
Khan Loss to Garcia was mostly to khans naivity thinking he can stop Garcia who before khan fight he was unknown to regular boxing fans and was very underrated so khan fought a wrong fight by trading with Garcia instead of boxing him wich btw he was wining the fight before the stoppage anyway . I promise you if mayweather fights khan (It won’t happen anyway )you will wintess mayweather struggling and could even lose the fight against khan .

Btw there are two other fighters I can guarantee you mayweather would lose but I am sure will never fight them and those are 1.paqiao 2. Thurman . All other top ww don’t stand a chance against mayweather because of their style that suites mayweather …

Lara has speed… Plus he has a chin and a defense which Khan doesn’t have… His offense is a lot slicker than Khan’s and he has a tricky southpaw style. His punches come in on an unusual trajectory—even for a southpaw. Just ask Trout … He was flummoxed Lara.

Pacquiao has speed… Plus he brings a tricky southpaw style, uncanny angles of attack, and a strong right hook that sets up a deceptive left hook that’s fired from the hip. He did floor Marquez 5 times in 4 fights—so his offense still worked well against his nemesis.

Garcia has speed… Plus power in his left hook and great timing. He likes to work off jabs and Floyd does throw jabs. He’s a good boxer so he keeps you honest.

Porter has speed… Plus he’s a good enough boxer and puncher to keep Floyd honest. Porter would probably be as difficult an opponent for Floyd as Tim Bradley would be.

Khan has speed… And what else? … Nothing.

Posted February 18, 2014 7:22 am

Get over it

Adrian you must not know boxing what style does Kahn have? He dont even see punches coming he got KTFO more than once. How in the hell does he have a style to beat Floyd who has dismantled guys 10 x better than Kahn? Everyone has a style to beat Floyd until they get into the square circle. I almost wish he fight Kahn because he has some retarded fans as well and people like me can make a lot of money betting. It takes more than speed Kahn is easy to hit and has a weak ass chin. He wont throw if he is getting tagged look at the Garcia Fight Danny was able hit him whenever he felt like it and Kahn has no head movement. Fighters who have fast hands also have to have excellent footwork and lateral movement to avoid being countered and he dont have it…

Porter is a lot like Bradley… Short, speedy, tough, skilled, and no bomber. He might be a little smarter and slicker than Tim for his level of experience.

Posted February 18, 2014 1:53 am

TARK

I would love to see Mayweather-Porter… Beats the HELL out of Khan and Maidana as opponents… Porter is probably the best prime boxer that Floyd has ever faced…

It’s a 116-112 type of fight in my mind—because Porter gets fired up like a rocket for important fights and he’s very confident. He has that youthful speed and he can defend a bit. His favorite movie is “Payback” because a guy named Porter is the hero and he’s a tough, ruthless character.

Not that Porter is super but he pretty good… Lara… Garcia… and Pacquiao are all better boxers and punchers than Porter though. They’re all much closer to their pick than Porter … Lara and Garcia are still getting better.

Porter will need 10 more fights and 3 or 4 more years to hit his peak.

As some fans might recall Paul Williams was rated as LESSER than Hatton and Marquez on the P4P list. Willliams was like a shooting star. Here today and gone tomorrow. He only made up to #6 P4P before Martinez knocked him off the list. He also was beaten by Quintana who is a MUCH LESSER Fighter than Mayweather. SO the perceived threat was no threat at all. He was a LESSER Boxer than Canelo who Floyd just SCHOOLED.

Williams was a very entertaining high volume rock em sock em robot but no real threat to a REAL Boxer. Lara and Martinez agree with ME on that.

Exscuses esxuses eh ???
Williams would have beaten mayweather and was undefeated at the time mayweather fought baldomir at ww and beat margarito when margarito was claiming mayweather is ducking him , out of all those top ww dogs in ww at the time mayweather chose baldomir and the fight was one of THE most boring fight in the history of boxing no action and chase and run all night

Rigondeaux is the toughest Fight for Floyd out there. He has SKILLS, SPEED in hand and foot, QUICKNESS in mind and Body, Boxing IQ, elusiveness and enough power to make you respect it….the fight won’t be entertaining for the rock em sock em fans but for the astute lovers of the sweet science it would be a GEM. The only problem IS that you’d see the LEAST amount of Punches landed combined for a 12 rd Boxing match. Its the Top 2 Defensive Fighters in the Sport squaring OFF.

Posted February 18, 2014 12:58 am

Timing beats speed. And if featherweights can floor Khan, Floyd will certainly have enough power to KO that glass jaw. Amir “Beggar” Khan is so arrogant, he hasn’t tried to earn the fight, he thinks he is entitled to it. Khan has looked terrible in his last four fights, losing two of them and getting dropped last time out. His career was finished in 2011 and he’s chasing Floyd for a retirement pay day. Everyone knows it. Maidaina please, Floyd. Champs shouldn’t fight beggars.

And thats why you don’t listen to morons. Floyd just beat Canelo who is BETTER than Khan AND Maidana. IF Canelo weighs IN at 152 he would still defeat Khan and Maidana. But Floyd dominated the guy at 152. SO Khan and Maidana are gimme Fights….at least Maidana is a CHAMP though…..Floyd take MY advice and cintinue to WOW the record books by defeating your 11th CHAMP in your last 13 Fights. No one is going to match it for a long LONG time.

Good point Tark Kahn was Floor by Garcia and Floyd is 10x better, Kahn sometimes throws with no regard to putting his hands back up that how he git KTFO from a counter by Garcia. Speed means nothing without skills… Speed means nothing without a defense.

Of all the guys who beat Khan only Danny Garcia had speed close to Floyd’s.

Garcia didn’t try to out-speed Khan at all. Garcia saw that Khan was wide open. He knew timing was going to beat AK. Danny kept getting closer until he was nailing Khan like crazy.. Amir couldn’t grab—so he had no answer other than to run.. By round 4 Khan was turning tail and running. He turned-ass and sprinted away at one point.

Lamont Peterson is very slow and he can’t punch. But physically he’s very muscular, strong, and tough. Lamont’s boxing skills are weak so he trades. Bradley has very short arms and Lamont even traded with Tim. Bradley admits that he lacks power—but he knocked Peterson down and dominated him …But Khan couldn’t stay with Peterson… Amir tried desperately to push, grab, and run.. You can be point deducted for all three infractions. Excessive pushing, grabbing, or running all stink up a fight… and even Floyd punches harder than Lamont.

Brendis Prescott didn’t feel Khan’s speed meant a thing. He didn’t waste any time in going after Amir.. Turned out Khan isn’t fast at blocking, parrying, slipping rolling, or otherwise eluding punches.. KA-BLAM!!!

Good night Speedy.. Khan defended like Victor Ortiz again — 2 rounds??? That’s fast money.

The ONLY fight fans want to see is Floyd Mayweather vs The Fighter of The Decade, Only 8 Time Division Boxing Champion in History, Congressman, Model, Actor and the most exciting fighter in boxing, the legendary Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao. No one cares to see Amir Khan except but to see him flop all over the ring once his chin gets clipped. This would be nothing more than a good amateur against a better professional boxer. Khan’s length would give Floyd some problems in the early rounds, but eventually he would get countered and beaten up. Khan has slow reflexes, and he takes forever to bring his hands up. Khan also keeps his head up like a giraffe, which will allow Floyd to chop him down. This is not the fight fans want. Mention the name Manny Pacquiao and the world responds with excitement. Manny Pacquiao is a living legend that has never feared anyone. He’s a well oiled machine that brings it every time. Power, speed, movement, reflexes, ring generalship and pure aggressive excitement like is the makeup of this great fighting warrior. This is greatness before our eyes, and Manny Pacquiao is the star in every single fight he is in. His next fight vs Timothy Bradley is marketable only because of Manny Pacquiao. He is the draw. He will destroy Floyd Mayweather if they fight. Manny has the edge in all aspects. Mayweather is afraid to take on arguaably the greatest fighter of all time with good reason. He gets seriously hurt should he dare step into the ring with the man that horrified crushed and obliterated fighters like Barrera, Marquez, Hatton, Larios, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito and many more. The only fight that matters is Manny vs Floyd, and trust me, Manny destroys and punishes Floyd before the stoppage. Manny is the best.

As some fans might recall, Paul Williams set up camp here on the Island for the Quintana fight. I went to a few of his workouts because one of his sparring partners was a fighter I was working with at the time. Anyway, in one of our conversations Floyd’s name came up. He said, “I don’t waste my time thinking about Floyd, he and his people ruled me out a long time ago. Floyd Sr himself told Goossen that I’m all wrong for his boy, said I’m to damn big. Ellerbe once said the same and refused to even speak with us. When have you heard Floyd mention my name?” I answered, “Never” he said, “You never have and you never will”. George Peterson, Paul’s trainer, added that he bumped into Ellerbe at a Vegas fight card after the Margarito fight and asked him, “What will it take to get Paul a fight with Floyd?” Peterson said that Ellerbe smiled and answered, “A lot of prayer”, laughed and hurried away like he stole something. Both very nice and humble people.

Why should Floyd fight Lara? The better question is why is Floyd considering Khan? Because of his twitter followers. Lara has an interm title in the same division lil Floyd has a title. You can’t say you aren’t a fighter at 154 when you are holding a 154 title. 154 is the limit not the minimum.

No but the fact is he was the Lineal WW Champion. You can’t take that away from him. Not his fault Zab came in under prepared with his thoughts on a Floyd fight.

Canelo wins his first world title, the prestigious green belt – the WBC title, which is who his fairy god mother Jose was the head of at the time, against a career welterweight Eurocan who had done nothing to warrant a title shot in his division never mind a one in the division above. He’d never done anything to warrant a rating at 154 never mind a title shot. haha

And I could care less whether you could care less or not. What’s important here is your lack of credibility when it comes to all things pertaining to your idol Mayweather. And sadly for you you don’t have any at all and it’s all your doing.

Canelo looked like death warmed up at the weigh in. He hadn’t fought at that weight in how many years? He’s out grown 154 never mind 152. This is why he has such a pitifully low work rate, because he can only fight in spurts due to him being drained. Use you brain.

And you didn’t answer all the questions I posed. Stop being dishonest please.

I could care less about what others think about me. I comment on most articles on here, it is just the fact that most people only comment back on an article about Floyd or Pac. And you are not laying any traps. That is just ridiculous. You think one thing, others think another. You are not the almighty who determines what is correct and what isn’t.

Well then you are going to keep waiting. I have already answered your question. Read below. But as it was pointed out you lost some credibility since you say most people thought Castillo won well most people thought Canelo won. I am not one of them. But you can’t pick and choose to go with what the people said and then what you think. Got to be consistent.

And Floyd did beat a healthy Canelo. Canelo said he was healthy and had no problems making weight. It just wasn’t his night. So I will go by what he says before I go by what you say.

I didn’t ask you how he got the fight with Mayweather. That part was obvious. I’ve already touched upon that. I asked you who had he ever beat to make it a notable win?

And what about Matthew Hatton? I’m still awaiting your answers regarding the questions I posed you about him?

Posted February 17, 2014 5:08 pm

Nope, not a Pacquiao nuthugger. Try again.

And Mayweather didn’t even beat a healthy Canel. He beat a weight drained one who hadn’t hit 152 in many years. It was a hardly a notable win.

Posted February 17, 2014 5:06 pm

I thought Trout beat Canelo also. But the judges didn’t see it that way. And the simple fact that he was the Jr Middleweight Lineal Champ is how he got the fight with Floyd. There is your answer

Posted February 17, 2014 5:06 pm

Satan

I thought Trout beat Canelo. But let’s just put that to one side. I’ll ask you who has Trout ever beaten? A shot Cotto? Who else?

And cut the meaningless statistics they don’t impress me or any other knowledgeable fans. Canelo beat old men and bums, served up on a platter for him by his fairy godfather the head of the WBC.

Castillo won their first fight. I’m sorry but that’s the general consensus of boxing fans around the world.

You’re not answering the question.

Who did Caleno ever beat for him to become a notable scalp for Mayweather?

Winning his first world title at light-middleweight in a vacant shot against a career welterweight Eurocan named Matthew Hatton?

What had Hatton done to earn a ranking at 154 never mind a title shot?

I don’t care what his rating was or how many strings were pulled behind the scenes to get him there. Just answer the question please.

Mayweather crazy haters like you say otherwise. People who don’t actually hate or like Floyd say he won and say he lost. I feel he won by a round. My roommate felt that way too but also said it was close and he could also lose. And that was coming from someone who does not like Floyd. So you shouldn’t let your hate for someone cloud your vision.

He was the Lineal Champ. That is why he got the fight. I never said he beat a bunch of Jr Middles. Heck he is only fighting his 2nd Jr Middle in Angulo. Yes he was given his title by fighting Hatton. He unified 2 titles when he beat Trout. They where the number 1 and 2 ranked fighters in their division. That is how he won the championship.

Pacnuts only think Manny is the only one worthy to fight Floyd and can pull a upset. Manny has no creditable wins in five years. The last good fighter he beat was Cotto in 09. Manny who always struggles against guys who don’t have weight issues like Bradley and Marquez. Floyd beat down Marquez after he took off for over a year. And Marquez put Manny to sleep but when Floyd beat Marquez he was cherry picked and was too small? Manny beat Oscar, Cotto , Mosley and Hatton. But when Floyd beat the same guys he cherry picked them lol. Just like they claimed Canelo was weight drained but he weighed in at 152lbs. How can you cherry pick a undefeated world champion? LOL poor pactards they try to make excuses when Floyd wins. And when Manny looses Marquez got lucky and the judges cheated him out the Bradley fight nutthuggers

Answer the question? Who did Canelo ever beat for his scalp to become a notable one for Mayweather.

And once again, Canelo had the head of the WBC and Golden Boy pulling strings and doing their utmost to get him to the top. These are/were incredibly shady and corrupt people.

Actually Floyd beat Castillo. I had him winning by a round. Just because you lose a close fight doesn’t mean you where robbed. Vera was robbed against Chavez, I even think Marquez was robbed in the 3rd fight against Pac. I have seen robberies. Floyd won a close fight that could of gone either way.

Floyd does have a fake zero. He lost it to Jose Luis Castillo but they decided to rob his foreign opponent because they were trying to manufacture a new American super star and obviously Castillo didn’t fit the script and neither did Mayweather suffering a loss to him. Had that fight been fought anywhere outside America Mayweather would’ve lost. Imagine if they’d have fought in Mexico?

Guess it depends on what your definition of good is. If you don’t think Canelo was good, he was a 2 to 1 underdog for the fight, many people where picking him to upset Floyd. Yet Floyd made that look easy and then after that he was all of a sudden cherry picked. So it all depends

Taking it a little to far with Pac. Considering every fight with Marquez is very debatable except for the last one and in my eyes the 3rd one to where Marquez clearly won. I thought Pac clearly won the first 2 fights. Morales beat him when he was in his prime but by the time the 2nd and 3rd fights rolled a round he was clearly past it. As for Barerra he was passed it also. Not to mention all the problems in his training camp with the California fires, not knowing if the commissions where going to ban him from the metal plate in his head. Granted even without those distractions I felt Pac would of won but they still have to be noted.

After beating a young Canelo now Floyd’s need a breather and fight some one below Canelos caliber. Maidana is the right choice not Khan. Khan is below Guerrero because of his glass jaw and Maidana is a slow tough and strong fighter and should gives the fans a hope to drop Mayweather with a lucky punch. Still I think Floyd will fight Khan for easy breather and gets the 3rd fight out of the way for Showtime.

I may also add the same applies to Manny Pacquiao. I respect the man, his integrity, humility and warrior spirit. However he is only human and is susceptible to human flaws. But so many people like watching great fighters they are going to tune in. My friends, Emmanuel Pacquiao is an EIGHT times World Champion, holding titles from 112lbs all the way up to 154lbs, a truly monumental feat. Fighter of the Decade, multiple Ring Magazine of the Year awards, with stirring rivalries against fellow All-Time Greats Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez, coming out on top in each series. Manny is like a God from Mount Olympus, like Jupiter, Zeus, Thor, a living legend, an icon of the Philippines, a superhuman boxing warrior, a ring technician without compare, a Fighter for the Ages, a peerless pugilist, a fearless maestro, a punching punisher of opponents, an epic knockout artist, a whirling dynamo of action inside the four ropes, a conqueror of men all over the world, a global phenomenon, a superhero to stand alongside Superman, Spiderman and Batman, a blazing meteor, a speeding comet, a shooting star, a supernova even, a shining example of heroism that the whole global community can be proud of! Manny is the best.

Te Tumbo good day. While I agree with you to the extent that tiles are used as a promotional tool and the quality of opposition determines afighters worth, I must disagree in regards to minimizing Pacquiaos accomplishments. let us leave Arum out of the equation for a moment and just focus on the fighter. The man started out as a light flyweight and went through some very formidable opposition on his rise to the welter weight division. Regardless of what one may think and how they choose to interpret Manny Pacquiaos career he has a very impressive resume. If we are to dissect Pacquiao so fervently then by the converse the same can be done to Mr. Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez. basically neither man in my view are the demi gods their respestive fans, some at least make them out to be.Each man has worthy accomplishments and their not so stellar moments. Lets just leave it perhaps in that vein. Cheers soldier.

This is absolutely astounding. With so many other quality fights and Exciting ones at that looming on the horizon, THIS is making the rounds and dominating the headlines. At least on this forum. it is fairly obvious Mr.Mayweather is catering to his fanbase who actually take the time to indulge this type of thing. The fact of the matter is that neither Khan nor the more deserving Maidana have any realistic chance at winning. Khan has not shown any significant improvement in his skill set and his chin is aserious liability. Though brave and gutsy as he is it is only a matter of time before his low punch resistence betrays him. As for Maidana he is simply too slow footed and predictable for the likes of Mayweather. He is precisely the sort of limited opponent that Mayweather has been feasting on of late. Pacquioa and timothy Bradley remain the two most legitimate opponents yet it is doubtful that these fights will ever materialize. At least for certain any bout with Pacquiao. Mayweather has made it very clear he has no intention of engaging his most prominent rival. As for those who would continue to find some gratification for whatever purpose to belittle and denigrate Pacquiao what can i say other than if that is what keeps you sane so be it. Peace and strength

titles are nothing more than marketing and promotional trinkets. actual ring-performances v. the best competition is the true measure of a great fighter these days, e.g., #1 P4P and Undefeated are much more formidable creds than “8 Time Division Boxing Champion”. particularly when that ring-profile is an Arum production.

Let’s be real about Mayweather folks: He has to play these games in order to sell his fights. With one exception in the last six years, all he ever does is fight to Decision wins. He’s about as exciting to watch as it is to watch grass grow. So if he can’t make people hate him and anticipate his fights, well, he just ain’t gonna sell. Newest game: “Who should I fight: Maidana or Khan?”

Floyd has earned only two KO wins (one by sucker punch) since he TKOd Mitchell back in 2005. Every single other fight since that date with the exception of the two I already mentioned have been the same old show–over and over and over. Like Anonymous already said, almost anyone can go the distance with Floyd.

By contrast Pacquiao has fought almost twice as many fights as Floyd has–from the end of 2005 to present–and he has scored six KOs in that time.

It’s no wonder Floyd has to play these stupid games. Anymore watching a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight is like watching the same episode of Gilligan’s Island over and over and over, with one actor being changed for each rerun.

Too bad Floyd is so into himself. If he truly cared what his fans thought he wouldn’t be choosing his opponents based on how much money they can make him.

Khan vs Maidana 2 is more intriguing than this match up. Maidana holds a belt and is coming off a high profile win vs a vastly over-hyped Broner. Broner hasn’t proven to be any better than Malinaggi. Paulie/Broner could have went either way. Khan dominated Paulie where Broner just squeaked by. Lara should be top of the list if you are looking at most formidable, that aren’t signed w/ Arum. Most formidable is usually last on any of lil Floyd list of demands.

Peej, I notice you never correct anyone about using the word “champ” versus “titlist” if they speak positively of Mayweather. For instance, Boxtradamus just made the comment, “they want to see CHAMP vs. CHAMP” but you didn’t correct him saying he should have said “titlist” vs. champ. See, even Boxy knows that the “titlists” are champions. Besides that, Mayweather has NEVER fought for a ‘Linear Championship” belt. That’s merely a TITLE that’s been bestowed upon on him by non-sanctioning bodies who neither finance or organize the fights Mayweather has fought in on his way to earning that TITLE.

“The ONLY fight fans want to see is Floyd Mayweather vs The Fighter of The Decade” was four years ago and before the “Champion of the Decade” turned his lights out and put the last decade’s fighter out of commission for an entire year of the current decade. otherwise, Garcia or Maidana are worthier than Napiao*.

@Poorpacturds You’re showing a lack of understanding and reasoning. Manny would most likely clown the likes of Marcos Maidana. If Pacquiao officially* beats Tim Bradley in their rematch, Bradley being an undefeated officially* (unofficially, Manny beat him soundly) world-class boxer rated very highly p4p, Pac Man is back up there at the top table again. Ruslan Provodnikov and JMM are hardly no names, are they? Show some common sense. Manny has World Titles in 8 division from Flyweight to Light Middle, so he’s an all-time great for sure. Floyd can go and please himself whether he ever fights Pacquiao or not. Manny Pacquiao has more respect in the fight game and among fans than Floyd Mayweather will ever have, that’s for sure too. Floyd better make sure he keeps his fake ’0′…

i don’t think that Khan doesn’t give a f’k about what fans want but in this case he’s right about what fight-fans want. a change of pace. a different kind of challenge for Floyd. Khan is tall, rangy, with sudden power. moreover, there’s no chance that he’ll be underestimating Mayweather, which he’s done v. previous foes. Khan will not make the mistake of thinking he can simply go out and intimidate and/or blow Mayweather away with powershots. he’ll be minding his p’s-and-q’s and fight smarter while conscious that Mayweather (among others) can end his night with a single punch. Khan may not be the worthiest but he’s the most intriguing of the otherwise deep but outclassed welter division.

No but not Manny he thought that he was special now he sees that he is nothing without Floyd and is stuck to fighting other no name top rank fighters like Bradley, Ruslan and Marquez over and over. Floyd will never deal with Arum again. Now his poor followers cry and moan because they think Manny deserves to be on top but he hasn’t earned it to be the best you have to beat the best and Bradley and Marquez are not it. Manny must beat guys like Danny Garcia, Maidana and Canelo in order to get his star status back. Worthy Manny is no more worthy than anyone else the last credible guy he beat was Cotto back in 09 at a dehydrated weight. Since then he has had 2 losses and no wins over good fighters. As far as a mega fight? Hell Floyd is already getting those without Manny. He fought Alvarez and it grossed the most money ever recorded. Floydee doesn’t want to fight anyone. Can we all just send him some money so he can gamble, make it rain for strippers and buy stock in Kleenex since he is their biggest customer. If he backs out on Amir he is a stinkier turd than any of us even imagined. #Chickenweather #Floydeeneedsadiaperchange #KingAmir2014

No Amir. The only people who want to see you fight Floyd are you and your team and less than 0.1% of your Twitter fans. That’s right, not even a large percentage of your own fans want to see it. You’re just looking for a retirement pay day and everyone knows it. Maidana please, Floyd.

Posted February 17, 2014 1:01 pm

Boxtradamus

Nope. Fans want to see Floyd against someone who isn’t EASILY knocked out. And they want to see CHAMP vs. CHAMP not CHAMP vs. CHUMP. YOU had a chance to take Alexander’s title but you backed OUT. Maidana just beat a BETTER opponent than Alexander SO he deserves the Fight more than YOU…..even though neither of you have a chance of beating the BEST.

REM no they don’t. What excuses over shadows Arums? Which one over shadows the excuses saying there needs to be a stadium built? Which one over shadows the one that says Floyd doesn’t dictate the dates Pac fights on when Floyd already puts a date on hold along with the place where he is fighting next? There is a reason why Floyd doesn’t want to do business with Arum. A fight was turned down because there needed to be a stadium built. Let me know any fight that wasn’t made because of that specific issue

I am not saying you are wrong about Floyd only wanting to fight once a year. Saying he is not strong enough though, yeah I am saying you are wrong. What I am saying is that you are trying to put in a built in excuse saying he is only picking Maidana because he will only have a 5 month break in between fights. That is actually pretty good. Most times fighters want to at least fight 3 times a year unless of course they are Floyd. And the reason Floyd doesn’t fight more often is because of the amount of money he pulls in per fight. That is what I am simply saying. So if Maidana gets the fight it will actually be a good thing. Not a bad thing for him. Plus he didn’t take very much punishment int he Broner fight except for the round where he got hit after the bell

I dunno – I’m a big fan of Khan’s Funky Chicken dance and would be up for a repeat performance. Seriously – his moves are pure gold. No one gets KO’d as hilariously as Khan and we all could use a good laugh – but I’ll wait for the clip on Youtube. No way am I plunking down $$$ for this fight.

Wrong Khan! Boxing fans don’t want to see you or Maidana fight Floyd. Boxing fans want to see Floyd fight Pacquiao, Lara, or GGG.

Author brings a good point. Could Khan beat Cotto, Guerrero and Canelo? Maybe Guerrero, but even that would be a stretch with his chin.

Floyd isn’t tough enough to fight regularly over an extended period of time.

Posted February 17, 2014 12:14 pm

Hidalg0

Think I’m wrong? Floyd has had six fights since September 2009. There was 7 1/2 months between his fights with Marquez and Mosley. There was 16 months between his fights with Mosley and Ortiz. 8 months between his fights with Ortiz and Cotto, 12 months between Cotto and Guerrero, and then as you said four months between Guerrero and Alvarez. He fought Hatton in December 2007 then didn’t fight again–against Marquez–until 21 months later.

I agree with Khan. Dont whine after a boring fight against Miadana it will be a major snoozer.

Posted February 17, 2014 12:07 pm

“Ummmm last year Floyd fought in May and then in Sept. That is only 4 months of rest. Not to mention he hurt his hand in the May fight.”

Peej, that is very very rare for Floyd. And he even said after his second fight last year that he was going to take some time off. Now he’s back to normal. Floyd cannot sustain a heavier fight schedule than twice a year. In fact he prefers once a year. He’s just not tough enough.

Posted February 17, 2014 12:05 pm

Hidalg0

If I was Maidana and Floyd “picked” me to fight him, I wouldn’t agree to the fight unless Floyd agreed to let us fight in the smallest ring allowed. Take away Floyd’s “distance” and you’ll see the chinks in Floyd’s armor.

Posted February 17, 2014 12:03 pm

Don’t get me wrong Maidana is very tough and I like him but he dosent have a style to give mayweather problems …

Let’s say if Maidana vs paqiao would fight next I a sure everyone will call maidana a punching
Bag And a cherry pick for paqiao but now if you ask peej he is the best opponent for peej. Hahahahahaha

Peej Floyds excuses completely overshadow Arums thats why.

I am not now saying that. I have been saying that since Maidana got with Garcia. If you can’t see that he is improved then your eyes need to be checked. Heck if the Maidana vs Khan fight would of gone on another round Khan would of lost. Maidana has improved a lot. And he is actually on a winning streak at WW and has a title.

Hahahahaha Peej now is saying Maidana beats them all !! Huh … And the reason for saying this is because he knows his boy mayweather will pick Maidana next.

Maidana was actualy couldn’t even beat an washed up morales after khan and lost to Alexander and now he is better ?how? Just because he beat a most overated and hyped broner ??

Posted February 17, 2014 11:50 am

PEEJ

Ummmm last year Floyd fought in May and then in Sept. That is only 4 months of rest. Not to mention he hurt his hand in the May fight. So saying he will only have had 5 months of rest means nothing. Not to mention people always say fighters should at least fight 3 times a year to keep there skills sharp. So that makes no sense. If anything it will help Maidana and keep him sharp if not sharper. People always bringing up the Marquez fight. That weight ment nothing and Floyd was coming off a 24 month lay off. If it bothered Marquez that much then he wouldn’t of taken the fight. Funny but Marquez never brings up anything about that weight, he just says Floyd is that good.

Posted February 17, 2014 11:49 am

Hidalg0

“I would also take Maidana over Khan if they fought a rematch.”

I would too, Peej, by a wide margin. Maidana is a much better boxer since he’s been under Robert Garcia. He’a also developed into more of a thinking and crafty fighter. If you watch his fight with Khan then compare it to his fight with Broner, you can see marked differences in the way Marcos fights now than he did four years ago.

Posted February 17, 2014 11:47 am

Hidalg0

Floyd will pick Maidana because by the time they fight in May, Maidana will have had less than five months to recuperate from his fight with Broner and prepare for his fight with Mayweather. Floyd like his strongest opponents to be as weak as possible when he fights them, that’s why he cheated on his weight against Marquez and required Canelo to fight at a catchweight. Meanwhile, Floyd will have had an eight-month rest since his last fight was in September of last year.

Additionally, by taking longer to make a “decision” about who he will fight, Floyd gives less time to his opponent to prepare to fight him. But Maidana will still give him the toughest fight he has had in a long time.

I would also take Maidana over Khan if they fought a rematch.

Posted February 17, 2014 11:38 am

Floyd isn’t scared to fight Pac. That is ridiculous. Why does nobody question the excuses made by Arum? And the Maidana vs Alexander fight does not tell the whole story. Maidana has improved since that fight and I would take Maidana over Alexander if they where to have a rematch. Nobody is really saying Maidana is gonna win, they want that fight because he has actually earned it. He is on a 5 fight winning streak at WW and has a title. That is why folks are saying Maidana.

Khan has a point. Khan won’t beat Floyd, but he would make a more interesting event than Marcos Maidana would, imo. Khan did beat Maidana too, at light welter. Either guy gets beat by Floyd though. Floyd is much too quick for Maidana, that would be a dull shutout. Really, Khan should have earned his shot at 147 by taking on Devon Alexander, but he avoided that one. Maidana deserves the big fight more, but deserving it more don’t make it interesting to see, or pay for. The man most people want to see Floyd Mayweather against is Manny!

Khan is right as I always said too , I said here over and over again mayweather will never fight khan he is just spinning about it at the worst time in khans carrier just to claim that he wanted a khan fight but fans didn’t want it , first he tried it with the poll now is silent ….

And to all of you who say Maidana has a better chance of beating mayweather they should watch Alexander vs Maidana and see how much chance he got , none… Just like he couldnt beat khan too.

And the author is saying that khan can’t beat Guerrero and cotto but that’s not a way to
Compare them because of they have completely different style .

I still can’t believe this clown is even being considered by Floyd. 2-2 in his last 4, 2 wins coming against unranked opponents, not fought in a year, and not fought at the weight. I mean come on. Maywether used to say. What’s the point in fighting Pac, he’s been knocked out before. I would get no credit for that.

Of course he is going to fight Maidana. When he fought Judah it was close for a while and he had big problems with his speed alright but eventually dominated him in the later rounds. No one should buy Mayweathers next fight and force him into being a man and giving the world what they want and fight Pacman. Pacman has met and exceeded all of Mouthweather´s demands but now he makes up new ones for why the fight won´t go ahead. What a boring man Floyd is!!!

Amir will get the fight. It is all publicity and drama right now cause that’s how Floydee wants it. We all are well aware that King Amir will not get a fair shake on a decision (Petersen is a great example) but Floyd will not stand up to the power for 12 rounds so we are not concerned with the judges. #DramaQueenFloydie

Other than his close win over Maidana 3 years ago, i cant see any reason why Khan deserves this fight. I liked Khan, he was always in a good fight but then he started getting distracted by his own hype. Then along came Garcia and things havent been the same since. Maidana isnt my first choice either. Id rather see Garcia get the fight or Lara. The pacquiao fight isnt happening
