“Nobody” cares about the Heavyweight Divison??? Most of the shows on EPIX coming from Europe have been heavyweight matchups and they’ve done great.. Wladimir and Vitali’s championship fights.. Povetkin-Chagaev.. Helenius-Liakhovich.. Chisora-Helenius.. and Haye-Chisora …. Even the horrid Povetkin-Rahman matchup was partially saved by Pulev-Ustinov. Maybe half the people who watched that horrid Rahman mess will tune back in …. But there’s a lot of young heavyweights coming up, and it will be fun to see how it shakes out between, Price, Mitchell, Wilder, Hanks, Helenius, Pulev, Fury, and Jennings.. Eventually somebody’s going to take prove they’re the best of this group.

So true! Other day people says Povetkin is a coward (Im guilty at charge) for not fighting the real champ Wladimir Klitschko and when they finaly decides to talk about it, people here3 changes there minds and wants Povetkin out of a fight? That is called hypocrits and Im not personally a fan of that. Povetkin would do the best choise of his career if he finaly accepted the challange and fought Wladimir.

Nobody cares about the Heavyweight division. The talent pool has dwindled to almost nil. There are less fighters competing today than at any other time. People talk about former communists now competing but the fact is NET, accross the board, there are less boxers in the world. This is probably the most legitimate contest at the weight but it is not a contest at all. We have Wlad who is an A+ fighter, then we have Haye who is obviously genuine world class but effectively a part time side show and blew his chance when he had it, next we have Pov – B level at best, a footnote in any other era. Beyond that, the Fury’s, Pulevs et al are crude and limited – would have lurked on the fringes of previous generations. The craft is ebbing away from the sport. Once this division had Johnson, Jeannette, McVey, Langford, Willard, Wills & Dempsey or Ali, Frazier, Foreman or Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe, Tyson swimming its deep waters conurrently. Now all we have are Povetkin, Arreoli and washed up guys like Rahman sticking to the shallows to keep away from the last remaining big fish.

a bit funny. When Pov ducks Wlad many poster call him a coward. Now that he seems to think about fighting Wlad, most fighters tell him to stay away from him…?

Zoo better keep Pov away from Wlad.
Atlas was right, Pov’s arms are too short
to deal with the giant Wlad.

As much as I loved Tszyu as a boxer, I have to say he’s always seemed a bit “money oriented” to me outside the ring.
So I don’t think he really believes what he’s saying in this regard. I think he just knows there’s a good payday for him in Povetkin taking on Klitschko.

Such fight would have disastrous consequences for Povo. Unless he wants to cash out and retire he should stay far from Wlad.

With the reflexes he posesses, Povetkin has got absolutely no chance with Wlad. Wlad and Haye got the best reflexes in Hw boxing followed by Vitali who’s gettin on in years. All the rest are miles behind reflex wise……

Ahh so-so-so-so wrong Konstantin Tszyu…so-so wrong. Well lets look back again at the Povetkin vs. Rahman “fight”. That was a f#cking dissgracfull to an performance for Hasim “Hasbeen” Rahman. Im not sure if Rahman was well paid by Alexander Povetkin’s people to take a quick fall or if he decided not to care for continue fighting becouse he diden’t fight at all inthat 2nd round. Alexander Povetkin did not do anything to impresse any serius boxing expert or critics with that fight and Povetkin never was and is NO real champion and after that “fight” even more of a paper champion. That was NOT a boxing match wath-so-ever and Povetkin will never ever get any credit for this “victory” by more educated fans. What did Povetkin improve here? NOTHING and Rahman, a former 2-time world heavyweight champion who had no heart have seriusly hurt his own boxing legacy with that f#cking bad performance. He did not even try to figth Povetkin and how thoes that make Povetkin look good?. Im tired on that Povetkin is a coward for not fighting some better fighter around like David Haye or why not – the real undisputed champion of the world Wladimir Klitschko. Alexander Povetkin acts as if he is great but he will get seriusly upbeated by Wladimir. That fight should never have happend and how did WBA put Hasim Rahman at Nr.1 spot without have defeated any serius top contender in 4 years?

After Andre Ward relieves Yoan Hernandez of his cruiserweight title, I see no reason for him not going after the Russian doughboy’s WBA heavyweight belt – if, that is – he can get him in the ring. Premature? Maybe, but keep in mind that Ward is probably the best P4P fighter in the game. I would love his chances in that potential fight.

What comrade Lenin said. Povetkin would get creamed by Vladeemer.

Ahhhhh, Chambers did not beat Pov. Chambers won the first few rounds soundly with the right hand bombs, but after Pov adjusted to the fight and he took away the Chambers right, he began to loose. Chambers could not counter the same adjustment to style and went on to loose the fight. The way it goes, he got out smarted in that fight.

I see the WBA still has Hasim Rahman ranked number one, ahead of David Haye—just in case anyone wants to see Povetkin-Rahman II… Huck and Chambers already beat Alex, but lost on biased cards.. Wladimir, Price, Haye, Pulev, and Jennings would stop AP.. Adamek, Hanks, Mitchell, Fury, Helenius, Dimitrenko, Boystov, and Wach would give him competitive fights that could go either way. He could beat Arreola, Charr, Thompson, Solis, Banks, Ortiz, and Pudar without too much trouble … So until he gets the Wladimir fight, guess what group he’s going to choose from? Povetkin’s matchmaker is probably thinking, “Too bad Ronald Hearns isn’t a heavyweight… Maybe we can get Monk Foreman.”

If I was povetkin id wait till 2014 for a shot at wlad as top hat says. Wlad would still win but it would be the best guy wlad has fought for a while. There has been talk of tony thompson and pov would get some money for that if he goes to washington and beats him there. Then defend against scott, grant, ustinov then adameck and arreola and get his money fight against wlad as the others he would beat easly enough. Would prefer him to take on wlad and get the wba to have just one belt

Bottom line is, Rahman is shot. Solid B+/A- level fighter at his very best but he always got overrated on the back of the Lewis aberration, ultimately. And now he is an old man with no punch resistance. Says everything about the dearth of quality in the division that a guy like that is still a contender at his age and in his faded state. He was never a George Foreman or even a Jersey Joe Walcott. Povetkin is far too basic to trouble Wladdy Klit, lets not get carried away.

Povetkin struggled vs. Huck. And now suddenly he is ready for Vladimir? Yeah, right.

Povetkin gobbled up hucks right hands, what will he do about wlad’s? Goodnight Povetkin hope that hot blonde is still there for you!

Povetkin would get creamed and cry all the way to the bank.

This is not news… I’ve never heard a trainer speak to the media who was not optimistic. If you train a fighter who’s a possible choice for a title shot worth millions, even if you’re a 20 to 1 underdog, you don’t say, “I’m not optimistic about our chances.” That would be like a politician saying, “With apologies to the voters who’ve donated millions to my campaign, I don’t like my chances in this election.”

top hat

This would be a good fight that we would like to see. I think pov will put up a good fight, although loose. He would be the biggest test wlad has had in years and it would put to bed the wba title riddle. Personally if i was pov id keep defending against other guys still then go for a big pay day in2014

at the end of the day we don’t know whats gonna happen.povetkin hasn’t really been proper tested but hes undefeated and holds a title be it a paper title.he’s a fully fledged heavyhas desent power and speed ok chin so far ive seen.yeah he struggled aginst huck bt huck is actually a great cruiser and was a good 210lbs when facing povetkin.very fast and powerful.it was a good win.but to really prove himself he should face chisora, arreloa or adamek.or even a fury.then fight a kiltscko.

Poor Kostya , must have taken too many shots to his head ! I realize that a trainer has to be in his charges corner , but saying stuff like this ,
is plain delusional ! Instead of dreaming up ” strategies ” to do to Wlad what The russian Doughboy did
to Rahman , a more realistic plan would
be to devise a scheme to get the
elusive ” champion ” into the ring
with Wlad ! If he can do THAT , the rest
will take care of itself . Kostya Tsuyu ,
great boxer , lousy publicist !

I think Povetkin would do better then most people think. Yeah he will lose but he is better then most people seem to realize. I have criticed Pov for running away from Wlad, but if he now decides to face him I can accept that. It’s business after all

Tszyu must drink too much Russian vodka.

Yeah right, Tszyu… The ending is going to be really similar: your guy Alex gets beaten into a bloody pulp in two rounds. Give me the same s*it this guy Tszyu is smoking!

TEACHER

Tszyu is dreaming or maybe Chavez was sharing his stash with him, Povetkin gets destroyed, just because he beat fat washed up old man, doesn’t mean he compete with either Klitshcko

Posted October 4, 2012 8:41 am

SimplyTheBest

“The Klitschko fight may have a similar ending”…..yeah, Povetkin will be KO’d in 2 rounds.

Povetkin ducked out of 2 fights and no showed a press conference, Wlad will waste no time in showing him who the real WBA champion is.
