Floyd has been dropped. Stevenson has been knocked stiff. Martinez has been stopped by plaster. Cotto was been stopped by Pac. Pacquiao was stopped 3 times.

Like I said before, my heart is with Angulo but my mind says Canelo. If the ‘weight factor’ affects Canelo then we might get a better fight than many expect. I don’t expect that they’ll turn the ring into the OK Corral from the jump, Canelo will try to keep it at long range and maintain Angulo at bay. He’ll prefer a comfortable boxing distance and try to make Angulo pay when El Perro tries to get inside. He will stop to bang occasionally to surprise Angulo with some well placed heavy shots, might even stun him a bit early. As the fight enters the mid stages Canelo might make a move to end it if he sees that his combos are landing with regularity, accuracy and power. If Angulo is still fighting back in the 9th then Canelo might decide to box the rest of the way. But that might be when Angulo feels that the time is right to throw caution into the wind, gain momentum and confidence. And IF the “weight making factor” becomes evident then Canelo will have to pull out all the stops he can muster up to thwart El Perro. And if he can’t then… I might get the fight and result that I’m HOPING for. My head says Canelo but I hope my heart has the final word. Peace to all.Posted March 8, 2014 9:45 pm

Chorizos? Long ones? Why do the Puerto Ricans get all the chorizos. Wish I had one in my face right now! We have to risk our lives crossing the dangerous Rio Grande, our own traitorous people (coyotes) promise to take us to the land that flows milk, honey & welfare, where people eat 3 times a day, drink clean running water, take baths, flush toilets! Instead those miserable bastardos take our money and lock and abandon us in trailers to die of hunger and heat exhaustion. Those damn lucky Puerto Ricans are citizens, pay taxes and get pensions. They get to fight in all the U.S. conflicts and World Wars while we only fight among ourselves. Their youths eat in school lunchrooms while in my MessyHoe, due to the prejudice that DOES exist, many native indigenous children are forced await desperately at the garbage disposals and fight to fill their bellies. All the drug money that my beloved corrupt MessyHoe exports to pollute the American youth is not enough, the cartels rather die that share a peso with starving fellow MessyCano. Could go either way. I’ve seen both gas out. Biggest game changer in this fight is that Angulo gets hit more than Canelo does, and does that orbital bone hold up. I don’t think Canelo’s speed advantage will amount to much, Angulo has dealt with that for years with timing, angles, and power. I would bet on Canelo to be a little fresher and get Angulo in trouble early with facial damage, but if Angulo catches him with a few straight rights (after softening him up to the body) then look out!Posted March 8, 2014 6:55 pm

B-Red is an idiot..,
Canelo is no Floyd… but Pernell Whitaker was well beaten by Bojorquez, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Ramirez, and received a gift decision against Ahzuma Nelson… Sweet Pea never fought anyone as skilled as Floyd in his life. Canelo has one (1) defeat n 44 fights. Angulo lost to Kirkland, Lara, and Cintron.. He’s a very tough man. He durable and a good puncher.. He just can’t box and Canelo can box… Saul has little amateur background, but still has some budding skills for his age.
If Canelo loses this fight it’s the weight issue… If he runs out of gas he’s toast, but I don’t expect that to happen … But he’s no more a 154-pounder than David Haye is a light heavyweight… So in his next fight—after beating Angulo—he WILL fight at 160.Posted March 8, 2014 5:45 pm

Except for Gamboa who 50 cent has destroyed as of now, most of the rest of the Cuban fighters don’t draw a crowd and aren’t that exciting to watch for the casual viewer.
Again, this is a business. HBO isn’t going to spend money of fights that they will lose money on. the Klitschko racist who accused the Jews of running the World and HBO didn’t understand that either but HBO/SHowtime have budgets. Budgets that these fighters want the most from but can’t back it up with butts in the seats.
Personally, I like the fighters but I am also not a “casual” viewer which is what generates the most numbers. Casual viewers, want exciting fighters and if you are foreign, like Pac was, you better bring excitement and a personality to back it up, like Pac has done. He also has a big following from his home-country which is a big plus.Posted March 8, 2014 5:11 pm
Is there anyone who’s not ducking Erislandy Lara? Both Thurman and Bradley say that they’ll fight Canelo at 154, but not Lara. Floyd fought twice at 154 and has two 154lb titles, but won’t fight Lara. Martirosian, Angulo, and Trout were the only 154lbers with the courage to face Lara, Molino is not even a weak option for Lara now; one was ready to quit, one quit, and the other one loss a lopsided decision. Lara called out the 160lbers with no catch weight; yet all of them ducked out with excuses, including Martinez, GGG, and Quillin. Micky Garcia’s trainer/brother says that he doesn’t like the Cubans coming over here thinking they control things. HBO said that weren’t going to televise anymore of Rigodeaux’s fights after he dismantled Donaire. Is that another way of them saying that somebody needs to do something about these dam Cubans because they are taking over boxing? If this is the case, then I guess it can be said that Lara and Rigondeaux are so good that they’re bad for boxing.
MONEY MONEY MONEY
It is a business after all. It’s not what the fans want to hear but that’s the way it is. And if you were in their position, more than likely, most of the time, maybe all of the time, after you have established your “name” to that upper echelon of fighters, you would more than likely to the same; measure the Risk vs. Reward.
Fighting Canelo is big money and may give you a bump in the Mayweather sweepstakes while fighting Lara, not so much.Posted March 8, 2014 5:04 pm

TUMBO Q-VO!! That was a good one analogy. As you know, I’ve been an El Perro fan for years. His last two losses were kind’a tough for me to accept. My heart will be with Angulo but my head says… Canelo. I don’t believe that it will be the shootout that many expect. Canelo’s team are no dummies. He’ll come out boxing and keeping Angulo at bay, occasionally banging and scoring well placed blows. Once entering the midway point if he senses that his usually sharp accurate combos are landing enough and with authority he will try to end it. But by the 9th or so, if El Perro is still standing and fighting back I believe Canelo will be satisfied to box and win by UD. Personally I’m HOPING that Perro can take the fight deep and gain momentum & confidence to make it a tough living hell/nightmare for Canelo down the stretch, especially if making the weight by Canelo becomes a ‘energy’ factor. BTW, this “buying my way out” of the agreed contracted weight is getting old & out of hand. Of course El Perro was going to agree, there anit too many paychecks of this magnitude on his horizon, only IF he can pull it out, which HOPEFULLY he will. Anyway, it may come down to: Can El Perro still run with the top dogs or fizzle out like he did ve Kirkland. Or… is Canelo is the fighter he’s been hyped up to be. Is defeating Trout as far as he can go? All this being said, I’m going with Canelo and HOPEFULLY I’m wrong!! Al’rrato Carnal! Paz!!Posted March 8, 2014 3:01 pm
How many pounds Angulo usually gains when its fight night? He needs to gain at least 14 if Canelo comes at 170.Posted March 8, 2014 2:33 pm
It would be awesome to see some promotional team take advantage of some of the Cuban talent and transition fighters like Lara and Rigo into household names. It a tuff task but it’s possible with the right approach.Posted March 8, 2014 2:21 pm
Unfortunately Lara is more risk than reward for everyone. He has virtually no marketability. He’ll probably beat the majority of 147 thru 154 pounders, but outside of hard core fans, what notoriety will anyone get for beating him? SucksPosted March 8, 2014 2:11 pm
Yes Canelo is the better boxer of the two, which is a bit strange since Angulo has much more amateur experience.Posted March 8, 2014 2:06 pm
Blackbert… Lara is not as good a boxer as Rigondeaux, but he’s coming on like gangbusters in his last couple fights.
You can’t ask for better sparring than the Charlos… That’s money in the bank.
And yes.. HBO and Showtime have sticks up their rear ends when it comes to foreign boxers… It’s a shame.Posted March 8, 2014 2:05 pm

Angulo.., “I don’t think anyone has ever hit Canelo as hard as I’m going to hit him. I’m totally relaxed and confident. Camp was amazing and I am in unbelievably great shape,”
OK.. But how well can you box???Posted March 8, 2014 1:58 pm

Virgil Hunter is going off the deep end on this fight… He’s psyched up to the nines.
“I anticipate such a savage affair that it’s going to be taken out of my hands, out of coach Reynoso’s hands … I’m asking the officials and judges to just let them go … This is going to be a savage, savage affair … I’ve been anticipating this for the last couple of weeks and I can just feel it – it’s kind of bothering me … There’s just something about this fight … I really truly believe it’s going to exceed what we have probably ever seen before,”
Vastly experienced trainers never lay it out like that.. They don’t talk like that.. Why should this fight be the most savage event ever seen??? A fight like Corrales-Castillo or Hagler-Hearns you can’t anticipate — Those fights just happen.
Everyone said Garcia vs Matthysse would end in a savage KO… I said, “Nope, it’s going 12.”Posted March 8, 2014 1:57 pm

I’m with Tark. Canelo is just more skilled across the board, he has power to boot, and he is much better defensively than Angulo is. He’s a better boxer than Angulo, he also takes a punch very well, and not having to go all the way down to 154 will help him a bit with his stamina. I also wonder about the integrity of Angulo’s recently healed left orbital bone–will it stand up to Canelo’s barrage?
But like I said in another thread, I’m still rooting for Angulo. He’s an underdog in this fight but a very dangerous one. He dropped Lara twice and that’s a mighty hard thing to do.
I paid for this PPV over a month ago. The whole fight card is excellent. Can’t wait til this evening!Posted March 8, 2014 1:56 pm

“an under-the-radar deal was struck which allowed Canelo to tip the scales above the jr. middleweight level, at 155lbs. The Mexican warrior made several comments about “weight” during this fight camp, even going as far as saying his “greatest concern in every fight camp is making weight”.
Yet there are still those who persist in claiming that the 152 lbs. catchweight did not affect Alvarez’s performance in his fight with Mayweather. Clearly Alvarez has been concerned about making weight for a long time, and certainly having to go down to 152 took a heavy toll on him.Posted March 8, 2014 1:46 pm
Angulo will not stop Canelo. Vivek is probably the worst fight analyst on planet Earth.
I make Canelo a 2:1 favorite—but if he didn’t look so weight drained I would make him a 10:1 favorite. Angulo has to get lucky here. He has to make a brutal brawl out of it. Canelo is the better boxer. Canelo boxed rings around Cintron and stopped him early. He should pick Angulo apart.
Angulo was green at the time, but losing to Cintron and Kirkland raises red flags for me.
This is a non-title fight so they’re coming in over the weight limit… It’s OK… Canelo can afford a 100,000 dollar fine after his sparring session with Mayweather.
Canelo cannot make 154 comfortably anymore—so I predict he’ll fight Sergio Martinez in the fall for Sergio’s middleweight title… He’ll claim an injury or something in the meantime—so he doesn’t have to fight Lara. What would give Martinez another chance to duck Gennady Golovkin—and for a very long time—is a trilogy with Canelo.Posted March 8, 2014 1:19 pm

I hope this fight mirrors Broner v Miadana im tired of these chumps having everything given to them. If the two fighters were ranked by level of competition Angulo would be way above Canelo. I wont be surprised I’d Angulo dominates tonight lets go El Perro.Posted March 8, 2014 9:23 am
There is no way to predict what is going to happen in this fight.
– Alvarez came in too fat.
– Angulo is coming back from getting his eye broken in a thousand pieces.
We can’t possibly predict how these issues will effect the fighters.
If Alvarez connects with big hard shots to Angulo and his eye — this is over quick. If Angulo can take the big punches with no effect on his eye — and if Angulo can stalk Alvarez and work on Alvarez and his fat body — then this could be the end of what was a promising a career for Alvarez. Angulo has been in the biggest wars in the last 5 years (Kirkland, Lara). Angulo is very tough — but we have no idea how much he has left or whether Alvarez will get gassed. Bot of these things are possible.Posted March 8, 2014 9:11 am
if Canelo is able to stop Angulo in his tracks, he’ll end it soon enough. if he’s NOT able to hurt Angulo, it will become a stamina and conditioning gut-check favoring Angulo but IMO still ending with a UD for Canelo. this won’t be as brutal as Rios v. Alvarado. that’s not Canelo’s temperatment. his profile is to box and puncher smarter, which I think will result in the “W”.Posted March 8, 2014 9:04 am
This fight will be as toe-to-toe as David Haye’s infamous toe job vs Wladimir Klitschko. You will see more toe-to-toe action in a blue movie as the lead chows down on the stunt c8ck than you will in seeing Canelo backpeddling and countering the dog all night.Posted March 8, 2014 8:26 am
Canelo has the higher skill level- he wins.Posted March 8, 2014 8:24 am
