Tumbo says.., “Pacquiao* compensates for with his quick, lunging, and explosive power-Left that an elite opponent will time and counter every time.”
Hmmm…, I suppose that’s why Pacquiao knocked Marquez down 5 times in 4 fights… because an elite opponent will time and counter Pac every single time.
Pacquiao’s footwork is not spastic at all… It’s very precise and well timed footwork… Pacman doesn’t have terrific power at 147, but what Pac has at 147 is great boxing skills… He’s not scoring any KO’s at 147 — but great boxing skills still allows Pac to win at 147…his ninth (9th) weight division… BTW Pacquiao beat Marquez in their series, 2-1-1.
Pac fought at: 112…115… 118…122… 126… 130… 135… 140… and 147. That’s more weight divisions than anyone else—so firepower is not really what’s helping him.Posted April 6, 2014 9:15 pm
Te tumbo, Pac has a different fighting style than Camacho so his footwork is going to be different than Camacho’s.Posted April 6, 2014 7:25 pm
Too much bullsh1t here. Tim Bradley was awarded a split decision last time, which was highly controversial. If Pacman turns up in optimum condition and boxes the way he can, with high energy, speed and alertness, it will be Manny’s turn to get the decision this time.Posted April 6, 2014 3:53 pm
it’s the difference between natural fighting talent (which Pacquiao* does posses) and masterful boxing-punching, which the likes of Camacho and Mayweather combine for a truly elite and dominant fighter-profile. Manny* is all talent and minimal skills. no jab, porous defense, and “footwork” that places him out of range of being punched and also out of range of scoring his own punches. that is terrible if not frightened footwork that Pacquiao* compensates for with his quick, lunging, and explosive power-Left that an elite opponent will time and counter every time. in fact, it’s what I expect Bradley will do to earn another UD win.Posted April 6, 2014 1:05 pm
HIDALGo, please review a prime Camacho’s footwork and try to make a favorable comparison on behalf of Pacquiao’s* spastic, unpredictable, and purely intuitive darting and hopping that he typically and (Marquez would insist) predictably displays in a fight. it can’t be taught and is vulnerable to being clocked and timed for KDs and KOs. THAT is NOT masterful footwork any more than Edwin Valero’ss swarming offense could be considered masterful boxing and punching. Pacquiao’s* footwork is most effective v. presumably older, slower, and smaller opponents. when Team Pacquiao* miscalculates, the result is fundamentally superior boxing performances by Morales and Marquez. neither of whom would’ve been able to effectively deal with a prime 135bs-140lbs version of Hector “Macho” Camacho.Posted April 6, 2014 12:57 pm
“it is absolute BullSh*t to grant Pacquiao* even one iota of boxing skills or prowess. he’s a dangerous puncher with quick fists and spastic footwork.”
te tumbo, there are few boxers, at any level of the sport, that can move on their feet like Manny Pacquiao. There is nothing spastic about his footwork.Posted April 6, 2014 12:29 pm
no jab, spastic and unpredictable footwork, and a porous defense. the fundamental flaws that expose Pacquiao* for anything but a skilled or masterful boxer able to create “strange angles” beyond his awkward, reckless, and purely intuitive offensive style. the likes of Marquez and Mayweather clock, time, and severely tax this level of amateurish posturing.Posted April 6, 2014 11:51 am
TARK, you just don’t get it. your “strange angles” factor is either clueless analysis or generous and deceitful praise. Pacquiao* is not intentionally creating “strange angles”, he is simply and predictably out of range and position to effectively engage. he compensates with spastic darting moves that momentarily put him back in range to engage but just as quickly and unexpectedly place him out of range to do anything but lunge forward with his power-left or simply stare, sway, and wait to be “Popped!” with a right lead or long-range uppercut. it is absolute BullSh*t to grant Pacquiao* even one iota of boxing skills or prowess. he’s a dangerous puncher with quick fists and spastic footwork. NOT a masterful or deliberate boxer setting-up opponents with his control of the range or “strange angles”. at long last, you’ve got to give up on this illusion of Pacquiao* the “Great”. he’s a promotional hype-job that has been exposed by average (Morales) and masterful boxers alike resulting in the same old “aggressive” fight-plan that he’s been employing for the past 10 years with ZERO technical improvement of any kind.Posted April 6, 2014 11:47 am

Mayweather Admits to Ducking Manny Pacquiao in 2009:
Boxing fans finally have confirmation of what many of them have so vehemently believed for years – that Floyd Mayweather was ducking Manny Pacquiao.
“Hell no I didn’t want to fight Pacquiao after he whooped Cotto,” Mayweather said in an exclusive interview with ProBoxing-Fans.com, referring to Pacquiao’s November 2009 clash with Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao stopped Cotto in the 12th round of that bout, picking up his welterweight title in the process.
“The drug testing stuff, the feud with [Bob] Arum… I mean, yea, I hate that guy, but it was a plan, a blueprint.
“The plan was for me to stay unbeaten, become the biggest star in the sport, and wait for Pacquiao to lose in the meantime. I knew it would happen, and it did.
“Listen, it’s not that I was scared of Pacquiao man. I’ve been fighting in the ring since I was 2. It’s just that I didn’t want to do it.
“Cotto took a real beating in that fight, he probably didn’t recover for years. It wasn’t something I needed to do, and I didn’t need Pacquiao to help my legacy. I already have my legacy, period.”Posted April 6, 2014 12:30 am

1903.., “Pacquiao struggles against anyone who has lateral movement.”
Not true at all… Lehla Ledwaba had lateral movement.. Hector Velasquez had lateral movement.. Oscar De La Hoya had lateral movement.. Manny has very speedy feet with a lot of attack angles so any kind of movement doesn’t bother him in the least.
And Floyd also doesn’t run around like Amir Khan who gets lost if you track him down and start throwing. Floyd fights you straight up.. He boxes inside and outside.. so you do get chances to tag him if you’re a great fighter, which Pacquiao is.. These are all reasons why Floyd comes up with endless excuses not to fight Pacquiao.Posted April 5, 2014 11:45 pm

Tark, well said. Angles in a southpaw especially will drive you nuts. Add power, speed and quick feet to that and you have a recipe for confusion on your opponents behalf. People can say all they want to about Manny Pacquiao’s style, but until you get in there with him, you won’t understand how complicated he is to fight for anyone especially Floyd Mayweather

te tumbo says.., “TARK, fighters on Mayweather’s (or Marquez’s) level aren’t befuddled by “strange angles”. they Feast on them. they exploit them. they make opponents pay for that amateurish crap.”
That’s utter nonsense.. NOBODY feasts on tricky punching angles. Those right jab, right hook, left power shot combinations can brutalize you. Marquez suffered 3 knockdowns versus Pacquiao right out of the gate.
EVERYBODY is bothered by unusual punching angles they aren’t used to. You do get on to the style, but it’s damned tough. Floyd had real trouble for 3 rounds against Judah, even though he sparred many rounds with southpaws in preparation.
If you spend 90% of your fights against right handers, and you use the shoulder roll defense—with your left hand down most of the time—you really have to adjust… Floyd makes great adjustments, but Judah caught Floyd early and decked him. He lit Floyd up pretty good in the early rounds … and Judah isn’t that strong, durable, or tough.
Pacquiao punches harder than Judah, and can fight 15 rounds at a harder pace. He’s not an opponent Floyd wants. That’s the only reason the fight has never been made.Posted April 5, 2014 6:54 pm

Tark, don’t talk crap the styles make fights argument can only go so far the reality is that while Pacquiao is an excellent fighter on his day he has shown limitations that lead to the conclusion that if the fight with Mayweather ever happens he will be good enough to push Mayweather hard but ultimately will lose clearly on points being punished at times with counters.Posted April 5, 2014 6:10 pm
TARK, fighters on Mayweather’s (or Marquez’s) level aren’t befuddled by “strange angles”. they Feast on them. they exploit them. they make opponents pay for that amateurish crap. it’s the primary reason that Floyd v. Pacquiao* is such a lopsided mismatch to begin with. you don’t get away with that improvisational bullsh*t v. Floyd. you get pummeled and exposed for it. it’s the primary reason that Team Punkuiao* has avoided and delayed this matchup for as long as they can. they didn’t figure it would be Pacquiao* who began to show signs of decline before Floyd.Posted April 5, 2014 6:05 pm
if you fight today thats true.Posted April 5, 2014 4:56 pm
Pacquiao’s style would pose definite problems for Floyd… Sharp right hooks and sneaky left uppercuts and left hooks coming from strange angles… Khan had an easier time with Judah than Floyd did… It’s a matter of styles.
A slick, speedy, and versatile southpaw, who can bang with his right hook and has a sneaky left lead is not a particularly good style for Floyd.. Zab Judah wasn’t very tough or physically strong, and he wasn’t much of a banger … so you can’t go by that fight.
And that’s why Floyd won’t be fighting Lara either… After he beat Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard wouldn’t fight top middleweight contenders Michael Nunn or Mike McCallum… You actually DON’T fight everyone if you want to remain unbeaten … That’s just a fact.Posted April 5, 2014 3:25 pm

Manny Pacquiao would more than give Floyd Mayweather fits. You have to understand the stylistic and mental aspects of a fighter. Manny has more speed and power than Mayweather. Ask some of Manny’s current sparring partners that have also sparred with Floyd. They are awed by Manny’s boxing abilities and intelligence. Ask Marquez, he also said that Manny was faster and stronger, and this from a guy that fought them both. Manny has a very unique style that on a one fight basis, no one can beat him when he’s focused and physically and mentally prepared, no one. His early fights were merely experience for Manny. He didn’t have all this amateur fighting background experienced quality trainers so he and to learn on the job. I’ve watched these guys train, and Manny’s south paw style is dangerous. Mayweather has had trouble with south paws. Yes he’s beat them, but he has showed flaws and weaknesses. Manny has more skills, stamina, power, athleticism than all those that gave Mayweather problems. A counter puncher like Mayweather that relies on his defense and reflexes will be off set by Manny’s incredible angles, but more importantly his feints. Floyd’s timing will be off as well as his balance. The shoulder roll will not be as effective, and simply won’t work against Manny’s speed and unique angles he uses. Lydell Rhodes said that Manny was much more difficult to figure out, and this from a guy that has worked with Mayweather many. many times. He said he couldn’t see the punches coming. and that he is smart. I continue to praise Manny as a person because he is deserving, but as a fighter, he is a major puzzle that opponents just can’t figure out in one fight. If Mayweather ever decides to fight Manny Pacquiao, you’ll understand just how great of an athlete and fighter Manny Pacquiao is. On April 12, you’ll see what it’s like to see Manny in prime condition, focused and prepared. Trust me, Manny Pacquiao is one of a kind. Manny is the best!Posted April 5, 2014 11:34 am

Fact is no one is a interesting fight for Floyd because no one is a challenge he is head and shoulders above the comp. And anyone who knows styles can see Manny would be a another one sided whopping just like all the rest the 46 others he fought. Manny offers nothing special or different, he got floored by a slow and flat footed Marquez. So what do you think Floyd would do to him. Pacquiao and Marquez are clearly very different types of fighters, it is no surprise that Marquez lost to a much faster Bradley.
But, a well prepared Pacquiao surely beats a quick, but weak punching Bradley.
Its up to Manny. Do the hard work, in the ring, and outbox Bradley. No distractions, no excuses, come on …Posted April 5, 2014 4:41 am
I thought Floyd wanted to fight Pacquiao for the longest time… That he actually wanted to milk the publicity surrounding the matchup for a few years to boost all his other fights up to major status … and also to build up the matchup to the greatest fight ever seen… Then, when the time was right, he would do the fight.
But I finally realize he just doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao. Ever!Posted April 5, 2014 4:05 am

Please don’t turn away for a second once this fights begins. Many is going to do something special, trust me on this. Don’t blink. Manny is the best!
US Notions of Manifest Destiny and Benevolent Assimilation
During the early 1900’s the Philippines was entrenched in the Philippine-American War. This is discussed in much more depth in a separate blog post, so I shall talk mostly about the sentiment that the United States had and their rational for occupying the Philippines.
Manifest Destiny is the idea that the United States was “destined” to spread across the North American continent from the edge of the Atlantic to and through the Pacific Ocean. The term, coined in 1839, was the motivation for the westward expansion of America through the Great Plains and into what is now California. As America continued to grow (in power as well as geographically), it’s definitions of Manifest Destiny were altered. The United States continued to expand its borders, but with the idea now of bringing democracy, peace and civilization to all parts of the world.
The Philippines was a likely candidate for a number of reasons, the largest being that the archipelago is situated in such a way in relation to other powerful nations (such as Japan and China) that would allow commerce between these countries and, perhaps more importantly, in the case of conflict with these powerful nations, a strategic warfare position.
The Philippines joins Cuba and Hawaii in Independence Day celebrations
These motives were of course candy-coated under the veil of being the bringer of civilization and peace to the uncivilized natives of the Philippines. The notion of “Benevolent Assimilation” of 1898 was issued by the United States in regards to the Philippines. In the original statement, the United States clearly were attempting to overtake the Philippines in terms of political control. The statement was sent to General Otis, the U.S. military commander in the Philippines, which was then censored by Otis and sent to Aguinaldo. The censored version removed any mentions of rule by the United States.
“Our little brown brothers” would need “fifty or one hundred years” of close supervision “to develop anything resembling Anglo-Saxon political principles and skills.” “Filipinos are moved by similar considerations to those which move other men.” – William Howard Taft to President McKinley
The term “little brown brother” was also created in order to make the United States seem less of a threat to the Philippine nation. The term, coined by William Howard Taft, asserted that it was America’s duty to closely watch and monitor the Philippines in order that it may become a civilized and upright nation. Although not intended to be derogatory, the racism in his words is apparent. Taft, in using this statement, effectively saw the Filipino population as children who are unable to accomplish anything themselves and must rely on the United States in order to become “civilized” by Western standards.
With these “benign” motives put forth by the United States, it proceeded to take control over the Philippines and thus, pave the way for the Philippine-American War.
The 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair
The Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904, also known as the St. Louis World’s Fair was an extremely large event that showcased the scientific, artistic and cultural advancements being made throughout the world at the time. Lasting from April 30 to December 1, 1904, 45 countries came from all parts of the globe to take part; many spectacles were to be seen, from new technology to vast, varying architecture of various cultures to even the introduction of new foods at the time such as cotton candy and iced tea. The fair had a significant influence in popular culture as well; the song Meet me in St. Louis, Louis by Billy Murray as well as the film titled Meet me in St. Louis starring Judy Garland both reference the Fair of 1904.
While the splendor and spectacle of the Fair certainly cast it in a positive light, there were very dark overtones in relation to the Filipino people. The 1904 World’s Fair came about at a time in US history when the United States was rapidly expanding their territories outside the US mainland. Wanting to show its might as a nation and maybe even their advantage as a primarily white race, the United States made a huge presence in the Fair in part by showcasing what many now call a “human zoo” of the dark, indigenous people of their recent territorial acquisitions; the Philippines was one of these acquisitions.
Many Filipinos, particularly of the native tribes, were coerced into traveling to America; over 1000 Filipinos from all over the Islands left their homes and families to be put on display for the Fair for the “cultured nations” to ogle. The United States used the Fair as an opportunity to showcase their ability to supposedly bring civilization into an uncivilized nation. The Filipinos were shown in various parts of “cultural evolution” from the “civilized” city-goer from Manila to the “exotic” Igorot tribesman. The Igorots in particular were one of the main draws of the Fair. Coming from the less developed provinces of the Philippines, they were portrayed as extremely socially backward and primitive, living half-naked in huts and eating dog meat. The Igorots were forced to dance and sing their native rituals daily in front of an audience, reducing their once-sacred customs into mere stage shows. Images were put on display showing the deformed feet of the tree-climbing Igorots, showing the apparent lower stage of evolution in regards to other races. Perhaps this was the reason behind the main draw of the Igorot village: the fact that it causes the viewer to feel as if they are superior.
A picture showing the deformed, “unevolved” feet of the Igorot
The coming-together of many nations in a cultural exposition is, in principle, an extremely benevolent endeavor. However, by presenting Filipinos as archaic and backward, the United States was able to push an ulterior motive that ultimately tarnished the image of the Filipino.Posted April 5, 2014 3:51 am

Marquez’s blueprint for defeating Manny* is simple and brief: circle left, avoid Left, counter with right, and powershot Manny* during those moments when he just stops, sways, and stares. Marquez regularly teed-off on Manny* during those moments in III. Bradley can’t count on a KO and Pacquiao* will be gambling on the same assumption to attack with relative impunity but this will also create more opportunities for Bradley to regularly if not monotonously exploit. Bradley doesn’t have to exchange to win and can still inflict plenty of damage for the UD win.

The great Manny Pacquiao will devastate the cocky Timothy Bradley. He has no chance. he can’t out box him. He can’t out fight him. He can’t match Manny’s and speed or foot speed. Manny proved he was the better fighter last time, but this time around. he’s going to punish Bradley for running his mouth. Round by round, you guys will see a man getting taken apart piece by piece like a puzzle. Bradley’s socks, underwear, trunks will have nothing to do with the beating he is about to take. No one can beat the only 8 time division boxing champion in boxing history when he is motivated, focused and physically and mentally prepared. This is his time for redemption and will prove to everyone why he is still the P4P Boxing King. This man has fought and beat the best of his time. He dodged no one. He has rebounded from the infamous Ped Punch put together by Marquez, Hereida and Nacho. He returned and put on one of boxing’s most beautiful boxing performances. Manny Pacquiao is beauty in the ring. The People’s Champion. There is no other current champion that can stand on his level. Mayweather is levels below Manny in more ways than one both inside and outside the ring. Everyone knows his tarnished career is nothing more than a carefully selected list of beatable fighters. Everyone knows that he simply admitted and avoided fighting Manny Pacquiao. His excuses are as credible as Bradley’s sock revelation. Manny is known for his courageous fighting ability that only true warriors have. He is a legend above other fighting legends. The name Manny Pacquiao is synonymous with Greatness. Timothy Bradley has continued to do a lot of talking only to build himself up. He’s trying to convince himself that he can win. He can’t and won’t. When you’re fighting a special fighter that is on an emotional charge like Manny is, it’s impossible to beat him. Stay tuned in on April 12 because you will never see another one like him. ( Bradley, Floyd, Ward ) undefeated so far and 1-2-3 on the pnd4 pnd list.Posted April 4, 2014 5:52 pm
He didn’t Gas against Rios because Rios stood infront of him and didn’t move or make him miss….Bradley will. It takes twice as much energy when u load up & miss, as appose 2 unloading on a punching bag like Rios and connecting @ will.Posted April 4, 2014 5:45 pm
Also remember that it is harder to be an aggressive fighter going for the breakdown of his opponent and KO than it is the counter puncher. People are defensive by nature, not aggressive.
There should be more credit given to fighters like Tyson and Pac than Floyd and Pep.
And I’m actually a better defender in sports than offensive saying this. Its why I know how hard it is.
And that’s “skilled” offensive fighter and not just some brawler.Posted April 4, 2014 5:38 pm
MANNY DID NOT GAS AGAINST RIOS THOUGH.
I was impressed.Posted April 4, 2014 5:36 pm
Same aggressive fighter? We will c, iv got my doubts….Manny has gased in the past and might b gun shy from the Marquez fight 2 throw volume punchers? 1 things 4 sure, Bradley will test him out….unlike RiosPosted April 4, 2014 5:27 pm

But against legit contenders with no catch-weight stipulation, he gets exposed, KTFO, schooled, humiliated, emasculated.
Both Pac and Floyd were exposed by Paul Williams who was a real threat in that division when he was prime at 147. Both Pac and Floyd wanted nothing to do with Big Paul.
And luckily there is no Tommy Hearns around because Pac and Floyd would be on permanent vacation.Posted April 4, 2014 5:02 pm
chicago g a y Manny hasn’t Koed anyone in a longtime he got KTFO by a flat footed old Mexican Marquez, I cant stand people to talk but produce nothing he was supposed to KO Bradley the first time along with Marquez and Rios none of which happened ass clowns like you are holding on to his old glory fact is he is the biggest hype job in the sport. His fights were hand picked by Roach the joke everyone he beat since he moved up were dehydrated or coming off losses everyone he fought were past there primes and Floyd left overs. Only good fighter Manny beat in the last five years was a dehydrated Cotto way back in 09 since then he has declined along with his ppvs now he is broke begging for Floyd but again he should have took the fight in 09 so where does that leave him fighting Bradley and Marquez over and over in which no one will pay to see that why he is releasing these statements to try to spark interest in a fight no one will pay to watch.
I agree with some but Cotto wasn’t dehyrated. ONE POUND, seriously? Then what does that say for Floyd who had Canelo take off two pounds knowingly that the young Kid has outgrown the division and struggles to make weight?
Nobody has knocked out Bradley so Pac not doing it isn’t a big deal.Posted April 4, 2014 5:00 pm
Pac will win this one relatively easy by unanimous decision. He may even get the KO. I just hope that all the haters on here crawl to their keyboards and apologize. The Mayweather won’t happen, because Floyd is afraid. It’s really a sad story, the alleged GOAT is afraid of fighting a blown up lightweight with no defense, that he he claims to beat easily, truly pathetic and said…his fans try to defend him….also pathetic..Posted April 4, 2014 5:00 pm

@ Hidalgo: I respectfully disagree… Pacquiao fought more intelligently in the fourth bout with Marquez than any of the previous 3. In fact it was the only fight where he was winning nearly every round but the one he got knocked down in, and was clearly headed for a UD… Problem was, after he had Marquez hurt, instead of just continuing to win every round he and Roach were worried about what happened with the Bradley robbery, and how people kept saying Marquez had won the last two fight, So they carelessly went all out for a KO against a power counter-puncher, hoping to finally shut up all the naysayers. And THAT was when he got caught with a perfect KO shot.
You are 100% correct as always. The Mayweather minion wouldn’t recognize the truth, if he bit them in the azz.Posted April 4, 2014 1:28 pm
@Old Coot: I respectfully disagree. Roach and Pac worried that they will get robbed AGAINST MARQUEZ? Really? JMM was robbed twice against Pac. The reason Pac let down a bit was Roach was worried he would gas out. Pac was breathing heavily through his mouth the way he never had before. Pac was going to lose that fight regardless. He could have boxed but would get countered a lot, just like the previous fights. Or go aggressive like he did, and you saw the result. Even if JMM didn’t KO him, he would have gassed out by the 8th-9th round. I know Pac had always had good stamina. But not in that fight. He went for broke the way he did because he knew he couldn’t stand trading punches with counter-punches anymore. Pac already lost that fight after the knockdown in the 3rd round.Posted April 4, 2014 1:25 pm

Bradley don’t carry the power Marquez has but Bradley is a tough fighter who throw a lot of punches. If Pacman can’t KO Bradley he needs to outwork and Outland Bradley. Pacman don’t have to worry much about the punch the KO him, I’m pretty sure if just in case Bradley hit the same spot, Pacman will recover faster an just shake it off.Posted April 4, 2014 12:35 pm

It’s all fine and dandy that Manny is going to fight full three minutes of every round and that he’s going to be more aggressive. But what he really needs to do is fight intelligently for three minutes of every round. He failed to do this in his fourth fight with Marquez and he paid a heavy penalty for not doing so.Posted April 4, 2014 11:59 am

Manny Pacquiao has proven to be an honest, giving, humble, sympathetic gentlemen inside and outside the ring. All his opponents and boxing media try their best to get Manny to say something that will seem out of character for him. Manny is as smart, savvy and intelligent outside the ring as he is in it. He never bites. Radio Raheem tried his best to pull it out of Manny, but Manny just gave that million dollar smile and his eyes said it all. Manny Pacquiao is a ball of fire ready to wreak havoc on April 12. The southpaw legend is as prepared physically, mentally and spiritually for his fight against Timothy Bradley. Yesterday he was as cool as a cucumber rubbing shoulder with an ex President of the USA, Bill Clinton. I’m amazed at how Manny can turn on and turn off the ferocious fighting lion inside of him and then put on his pleasant, infectious, larger than life charismatic personality that people love. This is the same man that had the most impressive reign of terror on boxing as he soundly beat the best of his time in 8, yes 8 different weight divisions. Unbelievable! I’m ecstatic to know that I will be in attendance to witness boxing’s most historic fight in decades. The MGM Grand will have echos of “Manny, Manny” Manny” Manny” Manny” Manny” Manny” Manny” Manny” Many” Manny” Manny” Manny” all throughout the night. I’ will be the first to begin the chant, and trust me, I’ve been swimming and running and singing to prepare my lungs and voice for this special occasion. Day and night I’ve practiced non stop. Pacquiao’s* “speed and skills-set” is not enough to defeat elite and top-notch opponents. that’s why his default fight-plan v. those opponents is “more aggression” and the hope that Manny* can simply intimidate and overwhelm opponents with his speed and power. when that doesn’t work, Marquez simply times Pacquaio’s* predictable offense and PLANTS him face-first into the ring canvas. IMO, with the same timing, Bradley can do the same.Posted April 3, 2014 8:36 am

It’s not that Pac’s ‘killer instinct’ is gone. The advantages he used to enjoy is not presented to him in some fights — catch-weight advantage over either old opponents or those who cannot make weight anymore. And in those fights that he didn’t have those advantages, he lost. A different kind of advantage was presented to him in Rios, a lighter C-class coming-from-a-loss bum they built up for the fight with one and only purpose — make Pac look good. Pac looked sensational in that one. (Sadly, very few people saw because it was held in the armpits of China.)
The moment Pac steps in the ring with a legit opponent with the table not tilted in Pac’s favor, Pac’s gonna lose again.
Pac is a good, exciting to watch fighter. But he was never as good as he was made up to be. All the victories that earn him his name, popularity and wealth were over dehydrated geriatrics.
If your name and reputation are built on foundation full of $#!t, you are gonna get exposed someday. That’s what happened to Pac. He was exposed. He didn’t lose his so-called ‘killer instinct’.Posted April 3, 2014 6:12 am

By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) already knows what challenger Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) will be attempting to do in their rematch on April 12th by pushing the fight to him, and attempting to put on nonstop pressure for 12 rounds. Bradley sees this as a strategy that will end up failing for the 35-year-old Pacquiao because he already knows how to defeat that tired old plan.
“Everybody knows what Manny Pacquiao is going to do. He is going to bring the fight to me and I am just going to show everyone it is not going to work…I feel that Pacquiao is declining and this is my time.”
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t seem to have a backup plan for Pacquiao if his plan A strategy of pressuring Bradley fails to work. Roach is one of those old-time trainers that focuses completely on getting his fighters ready to throw a lot of punches and apply tons of pressure. Roach is someone who would be good at training an Antonio Margarito type of fighters rather than a fighter who had to figure alternative ways to go about getting a win.
Pacquiao has probably made it too easy for Roach with his speed and aggressiveness. As a trainer Roach didn’t have to do much other than say ‘go get him, boy,’ and Pacquiao would then jump off the leash and destroy whoever was facing him. But now that Pacquiao is getting older and can no longer beat guys up on aggression alone, Roach is finding himself in a situation where he needs to come up with other ways for Pacquiao to win. However, instead of coming up with other ideas, Roach is stuck with the same tired old battle plan of having Pacquiao attack his opponents with a storm surge of punches.
Roach simply can’t come up with any new ideas, so poor Pacquiao is left to try and use the same game plan that he’s always used in the past. The thing is Bradley knows how to defeat that approach, and he’s going to make it look easier this time than he did in his previous victory over the Filipino fighter back in 2012.
If I was Pacquiao, I’d think about giving Roach the boot and finding a trainer that can come up with other strategies for him to win his fights. We saw Roach’s limitations as a trainer with Pacquiao’s knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. All Roach was talking about is how he was going to push Pacquiao to fight in the same aggressive manner than he did when he was in his mid-20s.
Unfortunately for Pacquiao, we saw what the results were with him following Roach’s simplistic fight strategy with Pacquiao getting knocked out cold by Marquez. Pacquiao needs to dump Roach, and look to sign a new trainer that can give him multiple plans to beat Bradley. The plan A shouldn’t be to attack Bradley.
Pacquiao should be interviewing trainers, and ask them how he should go about beating Bradley. If any of them recommend that he put pressure on Bradley, then Pacquiao should have them immediately escorted out of the interview room. Pacquiao needs an actual trainer that can teach him how to change gears and try different tactics. With Roach, you know what you’re going to get with him as a trainer. It’s always going to be ‘Go get him, Pacquiao. Attack.’ That’s why Pacquiao will lose again to Bradley on April 12th. As Edmund Burke once said, ‘Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” I think it’s time for Pacquiao to dump Roach because he clearly hasn’t learned from history.Posted April 3, 2014 2:52 am

By Hector Gonzalez: Most of the articles I’ve read regarding Tim Bradley vs. Manny Pacquiao II have something to do with their controversial first fight, to make it clear, I’m not even going to address the first fight. This article is based on where I see both of these men today. My prediction is that Bradley is going to win, he will do it counter intuitively because he’s not going to win by what his hands can do, instead he’s going to win by what his feet can do. Bradley has better footwork than Pacquiao and footwork will be the story of this fight.
Manny Pacquiao’s sensationalism many times does not allow the public to see him doing anything else but be sensational. I’ll give an example, before Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 both Pacquiao and Roach were quoted as saying that Pacquiao would KO Marquez in round 1.
When Pacquiao fans are asked why Pacquiao doesn’t have the ‘Killer Instinct’ he had against other opponents such as Morales, Cotto, or Hatton, fans will resort so saying that Pacquiao is being ‘too nice’, he’s ‘holding back’. I have a different interpretation, that killer instinct only worked against fighters who were 1.) Small, 2.) Stationary, or 3.) Slow. Timothy Bradly is neither. Another very realistic conclusion could be that Pacquiao may not have those killer instincts anymore.
Another thing to consider is that fans are not being honest about how much wear and tear that Pacquiao has taken to his body. He’s been in major wars. In the last few years has suffered from a broken ear drums, broken ribs, a flash knockdown and a 2 minute concussion. That’s only the obvious. Although Bradley took a lot of punishment from Ruslan Provodnikov, it’s nowhere near the punishment that Pacquiao has taken during his long career.
Like I mentioned earlier, Bradley will win this fight with his feet except this time he will not have a rolled ankle. Pacquiao will have a hard time catching Bradley. Pacquiao’s speed will be neutralized by constant movement and counters. Watching Pacquiao vs Rios showed that Pacquiao still will look good against stationary slow fighters, however, Pacquiao’s foot placement and punch output looked the same. There was a lack of craft missing that before was not needed because pure aggression and speed would get the job done, but I don’t think that’s enough against a fast crafty fighter like Bradley.
My prediction is that Timothy Bradley will win a unanimous decision fight.Posted April 3, 2014 1:39 am

Timothy Bradley had a big year in 2013, beating Ruslan Provodnikov in the Fight of the Year, and then taking down Juan Manuel Marquez. Bradley discusses the bouts ahead of his April 12 rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
Discuss 2013 and how your fights against Provodnikov & Marquez solidified you as one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world.
“2013 was a great year for me. I started out the year fighting a guy who wasn’t very well known outside the boxing community by the name of Ruslan Provodnikov. You might have heard of him by now since our fight was voted, “Fight Of The Year” by the Boxing Writers of America. Ruslan has also gone on to win a Jr. Welterweight title and has moved into many peoples top 10 pound for pound lists.
“My second fight of 2013 was against a current top five pound for pound guy that had just come off of the KO of the year against Manny Pacquiao, the future hall of famer Juan Manuel Marquez. This fight unlike the Provodnikov fight was a chess match and I believe I gave Juan Manuel Marquez a boxing lesson.
“With these two fights I was able to show that I can outbox a top five pound for pound boxer and I could also go toe to toe with one of the most feared punchers in the sport. I was able to show the fans that I am a versatile fighter and can box and brawl as needed. I believe that being a top pound for pound fighter means that you have to do whatever it takes to win whether its outbox your opponent or fight your opponent blow for blow in the center of the ring. I am out to prove that I am one of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport if not the best.
“In my two fights in 2013 I was able to show that I can do it all in the sport of boxing. This next fight will be no different in helping me show the fans that I am top pound for pound in the world. I have a lot to prove and nothing can stop me on my way to being number one in the world.”Posted April 3, 2014 1:34 am

He shoulda asked for testwhen roach had suspicions. Even marquez said he would take a random TEST IF PAC did also. Now why didnt PAC? Yes you conviniantly leave that out. Get off PACS nuts, he is Human and NOT a GOD!!! So fortune a former steroid dealer is going to help pac? Why arent you crying abour that? If i was bradley i would take all the roids i can get my hands on. Also it must HURT SO BAD, that FLOYD was right about taking tests. Look at all the fighters caught. Wake up son. This is not disney, its real life. No fairytails, and pac is not a prince or princess!!!Posted April 3, 2014 1:24 am
Manny is and has always been a clean man. Ped Man Marquez on the other hand specifically hired Angel Hereida, PED SUPPLIER to the USA Olympic Track and Field team. If you don’t know or haven’t heard his tape, he says himself he could mask ANYTHING. Since the NSAC tells the fighter and their camps what they will be testing, guess what? Hereida knows exactly what nutritional mix he can put together. And since you never heard or saw the interview Marquez and Nacho had before the 4th Pacquiao had. Marquez was asked if he knew anything about Hereida, and his answer NO! Nacho also said NO! Both of these liars then changed their story a few days later. Even a blind man could see this. Remember, once a liar, always a liar. By the way, I have met, and watched Marquez train before, but the last time I saw him, he was a monster. Didn’t you notice his shoulders, head, back and neck? This guy was enormous, and did you notice how Marquez almost had Manny flying out of the ring in the first knock down. And previously, he had never came close to having that kind of power. Come on people, stop being in denial. I saw him first hand, and he was very nice to me when I met him in the gym and so was nacho, but to see that kind of transformation was not natural. Marquez was the same guy that looked old, beaten up just a few months in Mexico when some Russian fighter was beating him like a rag doll. And he all of a sudden makes that transformation? And he passed the NSAC tests. I wonder why. Hereida, Marquez and Nacho all know the truth. And now that Marquez isn’t having to be tested for his fight with Alvarado, I can just imagine what he’s going to loo like. Boxing commissions let these things happen, and it’s wrong. Just look at Lance Armstrong. Ped Man Marquez and his entourage are just as bad if not worse. Marquez sure didn’t look the same in the Bradley fight. Hmm…Wonder why, and he lost. Alvarado should never have taken that fight without tests, but I heard he will be getting a good pay day. Manny and timothy are both getting tested. Marquez of all people isn’t. What a shame.Posted April 3, 2014 1:12 am

Get over it pactard, marquez ktfo the guy you have a mad obssesion over. Dude, get a girl and get laid. Not get any pek pek will make you obsses over another man. Marquez passed all nevada comission test just as pac has.Posted April 3, 2014 12:27 am
:) I heard manny is having ALL sorts of problems with his sparring ! :)Posted April 3, 2014 12:15 am
Trust me on this gentlemen, Manny Pacquiao will strategically destroy Timothy Bradley one round at a time. This fight will be over before 4 rounds or no later than 9. Those of you that think Bradley has any chance of winning, please don’t put any money on this. You will see Manny Pacquiao turn into a ferocious beast. Watch for Manny’s uppercuts and right hook to do a lot of damage, and you will see Timothy not only hurt, but dropped. Forget the words or the perception that some people have about Manny getting old or that he lost the killer instinct. Manny Pacquiao will put on his best performance ever. Timothy Bradley will take a chance and fight toe to toe with Manny, and eventually he’s going to get clipped. Great fighters do great things, and Manny is the greatest pure fighter in history. At 35 years of age, he’s right at his peak. This is not your ordinary athlete, this is a fighter that was born to fight. He’s a naturally gifted fighter that has never ducked anyone like another guy we all know. No one can beat Manny Pacquiao when he is motivated, dedicated and hungry like he is today. The Philippines was taken over by Manny. Los Angeles has been taken over by Manny. Las Vegas will welcome their adopted angelic child, Manny Pacquiao to clean out all the sin in sin city. I fear for Timothy Bradley. He should have never signed for this fight. After the loss to Ped Man Marquez, many thought Manny Pacquiao was done. He then toyed with Rios. Now he has a fighter that stole his title. He’s come full circle, and he will be the judge and jury in this case. Gentlemen, if you are the betting type and want to win some extra cash for a rainy day, bet on Manny Pacquiao to knockout Timothy Bradley before round 9. My bags are packed, my Manny Pacquiao full attire is ironed and I’m ready to go to ready to go Las Vegas to support the greatest fighter of our time and arguably the greatest of all time. Manny is the best!Posted April 3, 2014 12:12 am
The KO is the longest sleep in boxing history!
Bradley will clock him with an overhand right to remind Manny a KO is coming.
I don’t think Bradley will be knocking Paquiao out. Paquiao took some bombs from Rios . say what you will about Rios but he has a lot higher ko ratio then Bradley.Posted April 2, 2014 11:54 pm
Desert Storm will punish that azz for 12 roundsPosted April 2, 2014 11:49 pm
No matter what happens in the ring if it goes twelve Bradleys gonna lose on the scorecards and if the fight is entertaining we’ll see Pacquiao vs Bradley 3Posted April 2, 2014 11:34 pm
I heard manny is having ALL sorts of problems with his sparring !Posted April 2, 2014 11:30 pm
Anyone know how sparring is going with either camp? I read in a couple reports that Pac has been sparring with IBF welterweight title holder Shawn Porter and US Olympian Jose Ramirez. Those are some talented sparring partners. Jose claims he was making Pac miss a lot. No word on the Porter sessions.Posted April 2, 2014 11:28 pm

Bradley thinks he is better than he is….time to get him back to reality…he is good but ain’t that good for god’s sake…even if aging, Pac will handle him this time around by unanimous decision. The desert storm will get battered, no doubt.

Gonzo the Dragonborn
Manny punched Timmy so hard he broke all the bones in his ankles, toes and feet. He also almost indirectly broke some of Floyd’s bones too: His spindly piss-stained chicken legs as he was running away from Manny at breakneck speeds back into the safety and sanctuary of the coop. The gutless coward still hasn’t stopped even now.Posted April 2, 2014 9:19 pm

Da UnKnown Comic
Dude this is the most asinine video I have ever seen. First of all Bradley did NOTHING to disrespect pacquiao in Face-off. NOTHING! And duh- that’s what the title is: Face-off. Secondly, Timmy is a religious/spiritual dude. Where did he say that Manny’s belief in God made him soft? This is why the media has a bad fuuuckinggg name these days and always has and will. People like Radio Rahim (a clear knockoff of a Spike ale characters name in Do The Right Thing). The WORST part of the video is that Manny’s dumb azz is believing everything this prick is saying. This makes my stomach turn. What are you? A Top Rank pay-rollee? GeezPosted April 2, 2014 7:27 pm
Boy if Rahim couldn’t stir a pot he wouldn’t know what to do with himself. Pac pretty much answered all those questions on the face-off.Posted April 2, 2014 7:18 pm
Punish him smartly and win the fight smartly that is all that matters in the end.Posted April 2, 2014 7:15 pm
Manny, Fight smart. Forget about punishing Bradley. You need to win the fight more than you need to punish Timothy.Posted April 2, 2014 7:03 pm
