Steve is a good boxer, but Chisora and Gazkov are too strong and tough for him. Scott is too big, tall, and rangy.

All the other guys who Adrian said would beat him, would beat him. Unless there’s really good money involved like there was for Fury he shouldn’t fight them. And he also shouldn’t fight Jennings, Stiverne, Arreola, Takam, Wilder, or Browne,

I would match him against Banks, Mitchell, Boytsov, Dimitrenko, Helenius, Solis, Oquendo, Tarver, Minto, Adamek, Kaufman, Chagaev, or Mansour again anytime.

He’s not going to get a heavyweight title shot… But he could make a few hundred thousand dollars over the next couple years without a lot of risk – if he gets the right fights… This was a pretty good matchup for him.

Good fight. Steve ” No neck” Smoger gave Cunningham a lil break. In a way it good hate to see the fight stop there. Great fight anyhow.

Cunningham can thank Smoger for his win. It’ s as if Smoger was holding a conference with Cunningham after the knockdown’s . He gave Cunningham time to recover. If Cunningham had scored the knockdown’s Smoger would have jumped in and wrapped his arms around Monsour to save him further punishment.

I wish cunningham’s daughter the best but lets be realistic about his boxing. He fought an untested 41 yearold exextremely limited fighter and just barely made it out without getting koed. Guess you guys missed the stat they announced also that cunn. Has been dropped 8 times in his last 8 fights and with last nights fight that’s 10 times in 9 fights. I like the guy and he has heart but lets not let those feelings get in the way of our judgement. The top tier heavyweights destroy him period. Yes he can compete with the smalker guys but unfortunately there is no super heavyweight division so eventualy you have to fight the big guys. Best move for cunn. Is if he likes fighting the smaller guys move back down to cruiserweight. Someone mentioned deontay wilder man say what you want about deontay but with his bone crushing power and cunn. Suspect chin I don’t think that would work out well for cunn. Some o f2f you guys need to read your posts before posting them lol.

“There is no ref who wants to get anywhere near any accusation that he let a fighter sustain life altering damage” This says it all.

Stevens left hook changed everything, and then he fired (as I counted them) twelve more unanswered shots. Johnson should only be upset with himself for getting caught that late in the fight. Once again, a rematch is what everybody wants and I hope will get.

Glazgov is good but he was getting beat by adamek last few rounds bad he was lucky he was ahead in scorecards early because he would have lost so too say Cunningham would never beat glazgov is a stretch

Posted April 5, 2014 4:23 am

Adrian

And btw he will beat chisora eaaaaasssy

Posted April 5, 2014 4:20 am

Adrian

Dimitrenko? Is he still boxing ?

Posted April 5, 2014 4:19 am

TARK

Cunningham is not a legit Top-10 heavyweight.. He’d never beat Glazkov. He’d never beat Scott. He’d never even beat Chisora.

Not to say he’s not a good boxer. I see him beating Johnathon Banks or Alexander Dimitrenko.

Posted April 5, 2014 4:16 am

Adrian

Yes wilder would probably stay down .

And I think he beats chisora too but areola is tough sob

Posted April 5, 2014 4:15 am

Adrian

But adamek win over Cunningham wasn’t a. ” robbery” close fight but no Robbery

Posted April 5, 2014 4:13 am

Adrian

Assyrian god ,you are correct… I said furry win over Cunningham was the most impressive win for fury to me because fury used his weight on Cunningham all night then he finished a tired Cunningham who isn’t easy to beat , that was the best fury’s win .

Pulev will be to much for Amir although I won’t mind to watch that one … Amir vs areola would be a classic one , Amir is all wrong for wilder though but I don’t think Wilder will ever fight him

Somebody said.., “Vivek has as much insight about heavyweight talent as Floyd Mayweather has about nuclear physics.”

Actually he doesn’t have that much… Floyd knows about electrons, protons, and neutrons from 6th grade science class. Vivek knows as much about boxing as a giraffe knows about building igloos.

Whаt аrrеolа ? Pulеv-Аmir will bе intrеsting but not hаppеn nеvеr .

Vivek Wallace saw Mansour as the next great US HW champ.

“Paparazzi” Jones

I don’t believe there were any losers in any of the fights tonight, especially the Cunningham-Mansour bout. Both guys increased their stock in my eyes. Cunningham will likely get a well-deserved payday and who doesn’t want to see Mansour again? He would make for compelling fights against guys like Stiverne, Arreola, Chisora, or Fury. I wouldn’t mind a rematch down the line in Philly or even AC either. No reason this has to be a one-and-done deal.

Hats off to both guys and I wish Steve and his family all of the best. He’s a true class act.

Tomato Can

Man Cunningham earned my respect for fight through a legit TKO. Unfortunately, for Mansour, he’s too old to improve much more. His lunging mistimed punches remind me of what I see from older fighters, who still have power and speed, but the reflexes are gone…

Vivek where are you ? Do you still think Amir is the one to ” clean the hw devision including klitchko”?

Posted April 5, 2014 2:19 am

Mr. D

Cunningham has always fought with great heart and fought top guys. Hope he gets a big payday.

yo,

Had the fight been a twelve rounder I think Steve might’ve had a shot at scoring at least a TKO over Mansour. Mansour looked pretty exhausted near the end.

I’d like to see Main Events get Steve a few fights with heavyweights that aren’t dramatically bigger than him and perhaps he can finish his career with a few nice paydays.

I do agree that Steve was faster in the Fury fight but I wonder if he deliberately fought at a slower pace in this fight. Perhaps Steve and Nasim felt that the fast pace was part of the reason why he ran out of gas in the Fury fight which of course led to the KO loss.

punch

Congrat to Steve, though I picked against him I think he earned his win. Amir has just missed the train and time isn’t on his side, wish him all the best.

JSL

There was talk that the winner of tonight’s main event would likely earn a six figure pay day in their next fight. With his current situation I hope that Steve does get that kind of money. I don’t know how he came back from those two knockdowns.

Also Amir was very classy in defeat something that we don’t always see in boxing.

After the Tyson Fury fight, I don’t think I’d like to see Steve in there with the super sized heavyweights. But fights against someone like Glazkov, Tony Thompson, or heck even a rematch with Mansour could be interesting.

Posted April 5, 2014 12:56 am

yo

I would not like to see Steve fight Wilder.

Wilder is much more poised than Mansour.

Steve looked much weaker than he did against Fury… slower too.

Steve has lost lots of speed and power.

The Steve that fought Fury might have stopped Mansour…

Yeah Steven’s getting the stoppage win was a crazy shock. It’s okay though – Johnson has got to learn to get to his knee in times like this. There is no ref who wants to get anywhere near any accusation that he let a fighter sustain life altering damage. All trainers need to be rehersing taking the knee right now – Boxer’s will get no reward for trying to weather a neck bending punch in these current times – Had Johnson taken a knee he would have easily won on the cards by a wide margin.

What a fight boy oh boy that was simply breathtaking. Do I need to say more. Love both fighters and want to see them fight anyone out there. Mansour is a classy classy guy.Kudos!

Steve Cunningham’s fight heart is simply unable to be measured in this match – He got up after being knocked down twice in the same round and negated a monster’s power. It was like watching a Mongoose vs am angry Cobra and the Mongoose won. Talk about snatching your career out of the razor sharp teeth of the jaws known as time. I wish I was still up north and could have covered this fight for ESB! Great – hell, INCREDIBLE job Steve ….. You and your family deserve every penny your next contract brings.

stevens was lucky that the ref stopped it early.
