USS is gettin old – why else is he taking so many punches against an aged opponent who is far slower than him? Good job the bell saved his ass!!!

love that Cunningham. Top bloke who displays excellent sportsmanship and professional conduct at all times. rock solid all-round boxer. I wish he would go to cruiser though

Fight Aficionado

Bigups to USS. Been a fan since he won that great cruiserweight fight vs Huck, who later became a longstanding cruiser title holder himself. Cunningham could’ve locked down that division a long time once Adamek left but is probably making more at heavyweight. Great to see him win Friday.

Ferocious rabbit

Fantastic fight. Both had heart and determination. Cunningham displayed some slick movements and was cool under tremendous pressure.

Mansour got to get back on it sharpish. He a old man now and he’s too good to go to seed. I loved this fight

I disagree. Cunningham had trouble at cruiserweight because of Adamek and Hernandez and he has several losses at heavyweight.

Otherwise, Cunningham beat Huck at cruiserweight and was a solid a winner in almost every fight. I think he lost to a polish fighter but avenged the loss.

Now — Cunningham needs to make the cruiserweight weight limit but he can hydrate back up to strong heavy powerful fighter and he would do great against Huck, Arslan, and the other fighters who are mostly unknown and Cunningham would be favored and make money in exciting fights. He might even score knockouts with the extra weight.

He can go down and dominate either. If he could he would of done it when he was down there before. This was a good win though for him. No he won’t beat the higher rated heavies but it will always be fun while it last.

Great fight. Great win for Cunningham.

However, Cunningham is probably not a heavy weight and he is always 1 punch away from losing by KO and he always gets knocked down.

I would prefer to see Cunningham go back down to cruiser weight and dominate there — may big money as a dominant champion.

Cunningham always looks shaky in these heavy weight fights.

Anonymous,

You had a good thought for USS and his family. Outside boxing, there are so many things more important than the sport.

Cunningham’s knockdown in the tenth reminded me of gassed Foreman going down against Ali

Excellent show, both fights better than any main event that Hbo or Showtime could have staged.
Forget the marquee name’s who refuse to fight each other.
This is boxing grit, tenacity and skill.
Great come from behind by Stevens….Johnson had it in the bag
but guess what ”Protect yourself at all times” must alway’s be a
fighter’s mantra.
Oh and Mansour postfight pure class …..wish him all the best.
Dude need’s to learn how to fight smarter and pace himself.

Congratulations Steve “USS” Cunningham! That was a nice victory and a great fight delivered to the public. Nice to see him win a fight again. If he had lost this fight, I would recomend him to retire when he still can with dignity to the sport.

I would not like to see him lose fights to young, hungrier and unknown fighters. It was painful to see that happen to skilled boxer and 2-time champion Chris Byrd.

Both did a great job. Hope they both end up with pieces of the championship and have to face each other again. Monsour was a bit closer than the judges had it and could have even been a draw in different camera angles but Steve winning was no suprise and great for the sport. Monsour should have relaxed and thought a little more and been a little more conservative with his energy.
Love both of these guys. My thoughts on Steve have def changed for the better. Awesome fight. That’s what boxing is all about

Punchkey:

We understand!

It was a great night of boxing.

Sad that someone had to lose.

Hope Mansour studies George Foreman and learns to conserve his energy in the ring.

Hello everybody I am a hard-core fan of boxing and I been following Steve Cunningham for past five years when I watch this fight and I was rooting for him from bottom of my heard specially what he has been through in his life with decisions where he should not lose (adamek) you know what I mean and that big clown Fury one he just used she’s body weight and reach used his elbows Push and had butts I was so glad that I watch this fight with nobody being in my house and I cry through this fight I guess I got so emotional because I am truly hard-core fan I will always support boxing and this is was my night thank you everybody .
Thank you all for reading my post :)

I thought the fight was closer than the judges had it. Perhaps Mansour’s closed eye and Steve’s tragic situation with his kid entered into the fray.

Good win for cunningham. Mansour is a limited slugger limited.

Kudos to Cunningham. Sounds like he showed some true grit to get through this one. I picked him to outbox Mansour early on, but to get the stopped when Amir finally caught him.
But happily I got it wrong and Cunningham was able to wear the power and get the win! Hopefully this goes some ways to helping with his family’s horrible problems.

P.S. I sincerely hope that USS Cunningham and his wife find a suitable heart donour for their young daughter who has a serious heart complaint.
