First time ere

Auzbox – Mundine was great for Australian boxing. His local derbies against Geale, Soliman, Green were great contests.

allow me to correct DMX – yes mundine has had all his fights PPV. Make no mistake, that is an absolute disgrace. the next point, his PPV numbers are poor and no “redneck” would ever stump up a cent for it. peop0le who are interested watch his fights at the pub. a “REDNECK” is anyone who doesn’t like mundine. He feels if we hate him it’s because of race, it’s not, it’s because he’s a big mouthed wanker. my next point. Danny Green is a household name in Australia and is far far richer than choc. he has not returned to carpentry and never will. DMX as I’ve said before I enjoy your posts, but please mate, when you claim things are a certain way in oz despite knowing it really isn’t, that’s bad form and leading our foreign friends astray. get it together bro

Was anyone surprised? Clottey has great endurance and can certainly take a punch

Considering Clottey is pretty much all defense, this just goes to show that Mudine is garbage. All that talk and looked what happened to you. Clottey has had what 2 fights in the past 2 years. Definitely glad this happened.

Posted April 9, 2014 10:08 am

Lol this hurts eh? So every boxer that has a litle history with PAC is garbage eh. ? Lol stop hating dude

Posted April 9, 2014 7:17 pm

lol…Knowledge, it looks like you have no knowledge at all. You are a deadset idiot. Now back to the boxing, I love the result. That is what happens when you keep fighting bums for the majority of your career. He done well to last the 12 rds, but I wish I would have seen him knocked out cold.

Upset?? hmmm…. I had said that Mundine’s stoppage over Mosley was OVER-rated & OVER-played. Nuff said.

mundine. just another plastic joke.move on.

Posted April 9, 2014 3:28 pm

JE

Can’t be too surprised by the outcome. Mundine touted himself as a three-time “world” champion, though he never defeated a champion to win a belt. His titles, like more recent titlists such as Nathan Cleverly, always mysteriously came in fights for “vacant” belts. One of his so-called vacant titles was the WBA super middleweight title which was the organization’s “regular” title, meaning it’s real titlist, Sven Ottke at the time, was still a champion only he became a “super” champion. Mundine, however, was a fairly good fighter who in past eras would not have been a champion but would’ve contended for a title shot or two.

Mike Tyson

In Boxing fighters career are deceiving why? Because too much verables and only one chance or fight decide it. Bradley blame his sock for him not getting out of the way of PAC punches. And the slow at MGM . You won there 4 month earlier tko mr forgetfull.

Your opponate make you feel armatures if he 2x better, Floyd does the same to fighter.
But we because of the cold war we don’t know how boxing rating stand between both camp GBP and T.R fighter. There lot of good fight that can be made, we’re missing out of now from both camps.

LOL Mundine.

No real upset. On paper these two were fairly evenly matched. Will b gd to c Clottey get another title shot.

Rednecks deserved to get played at $49.95 a time

Anthony
It has been a wonderful run but it’s over son

Count your dollars and run for member for Redfern . . . . People love you brother

THANKS DMX for confirming that! That is a remarkable record, love him or hate him, to have so many fights and every one PPV. He must be one rich man! Hope he retires now and enjoys his cash!

Posted April 9, 2014 12:16 pm

DMX

Yes
every single one of Anthony Mundines 50+ fights have been on PPV
The rednecks that hate him so much and tune in to see him beat have helped “the Man” amass a fortune of over $15 million dollars
Easy work when you can get it

Danny Green has gone back to Carpentry

Blooming heck! Please excuse the errors:

… He was unlucky not to get the nod in that fight (re CLOTTEY vs COTTO)

Posted April 9, 2014 12:07 pm

TJ

Excuse, predictive text. It should have read a banana skin was waiting for him to step on….

Posted April 9, 2014 12:04 pm

TJ

THE LAST TIME I saw Mundine in the ring he looked, old and slow vs Daniel Geale and I wondered if he would retire then. But, a couple of wins, including an easy night vs Sugar Shane put a pep in his step and CLOTTEY was supposed to put a glide in his stride, but this is what makes boxing so great. A banana skin was waiting for Jim to step on and boy did he fall!

I remember CLOTTEY giving Miguel COTTO a thorough working over until inexplicably declaring himself a pacifist when he had COTTO on the brink of a stoppage and he was unlucky jot to get the mid in that fight.

The last time I saw CLOTTEY he was fully fledged pacifist vs Manny Pacquiao, but with the win over Mundine I’m sure it will earn him a couple more pay days.

Well, we can scrub out the name Mundine from the Mayweather Sweepstakes.

Can any of you Australian boxing fans confirm or deny that Every single one of Mundine’s professional fights has been via PPV? I read it somewhere and if true this must be some sort of record in sports!!

Posted April 9, 2014 12:03 pm

Ike

So glad I won’t have to hear Mundine talking about getting a fight with Mayweather anymore. Dude, as if!

Posted April 9, 2014 11:50 am

DMX

He is teak tough African hardwood

Posted April 9, 2014 11:36 am

TARK

I don’t know how huge of an upset this was.

Mundine is old and slow. I hate Clottey’s high guard defense, but he’s one of the more effective fighters who use that style because he’s a super tough guy. He’s very slow to launch but with somebody as slow as Mundine he does get his shots off. It was about as big an upset as Clottey beating Zab Judah, who he pretty much clobbered.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Clottey is a tough bird with a good defense that’s hard to crack. He’s also a decent boxer. Clottey has also fought many more higher level opponents–albeit in lower weight divisions–than Mundine has. I’d like to see Clottey continue to fight regularly and possibly go for another title shot a jr. middleweight.

I have no idea what Clottey has been doing on his 2 x year lay off
But by the looks of it wrestling bears , grappling pythons and head butting tigers,
he has muscles where I thought it was impossible to grow muscles

He was magnificent tonight, well done champ

d level at best.

Posted April 9, 2014 10:48 am

Who cares

How is Clottey beating Mundine an upset? Clottey has the skills to beat just about anyone …. criminally underrated fighter. He whipped Cotto’s ass and got screwed on the decision…robbed against Margarito.

Posted April 9, 2014 10:39 am

DMX

Are you suggesting Clottey didn’t pick up the brown envelope that Shane Mosley did?

Posted April 9, 2014 10:23 am

matt

If Clottey keep on winning, he is not making money because there’s no big name fighters willing to fight him, he is making money throwing a fight, on Cotto fight, he was well ahead on score card at the end of tenth round but he stopped punching on 11th ans 12th round, on Pacquiao fight, he just covered his head not to get knock out and not trying to win, Clottey got over million each in this two fight, he never earn that kind of money by winning, Mundine didn’t offer him enough money.

Posted April 9, 2014 10:15 am

DMX

Incredibly . . .
By collapsing every time he was hit
Anthony Mundine has probably now secured a major fight with Floyd Mayweather

After being hit so hard his curly hair became straight and his shoes came off,
Floyd will be straight on the phone to talk figures

The fight is proposed to be on a floating barge in Hobart because of the recent shark attacks in Queensland , NSW and Western Australia

It’s early but inflatable seats are approx $110
Whilst inflatable hoops (the cheap seats) with buttocks in the water at $25

Boxing Barlow

Am I missing something here? Why is this a huge upset. Clottey has always been a decent fighter. No one has ever really put a dent in him. He took a still very game Cotto to a split decision back in 2009 which gives some indication of the level he can fight at. Pacman gave him a bit of a thrashing about this ring but even against a prime Pac he was able to just cover up and aviod taking major punishment coasting to a loss. His only other real loss was to Margacheato. I’ve always been pretty impressed with Clottey. Mundine on the other hand has never impressed me much. Could you have imagined Clottey getting kncoked out by a 11 fight novice like Mundine did against Wood? Clottey is younger too. The only real advantage Mundine had going into this was home advantage and the hope that Clotteys inactivity had caused him to slip a little. So no this was no upset in my book.

the headline should read “Clottey Finds His Fists!”

Posted April 9, 2014 9:52 am

DMX

The ride is over for choc
Whilst having a physical advantage at Light Middle in height and reach he is too weak

I have no idea what Clottey has been doing after having 2 x fights in 2 years but he came in looking like Conan the Barbarian
He had muscles growing on top of other muscles

I blame Mundines fancy new side parting haircut
When he was a shaved peanut it was never like this
