love the fact that arum is giving advice on how the mgm should sack its CEO because there not doing as well as the venetian – does that mean he is going to sack himself because TR is not doing as good as GBP? also last time arum started throwing his dummy out and giving advice to corporations he got ross greenberg sacked from HBO look how its ended up for HBO – despite having the bigger budget playing second fiddle to showtime and with the raw talent leaving.

100k is a low estimate. 500k is about right. Pacquiao* couldn’t crack that number for his comeback bout v. Rios who actually has a fanbase due to his notoriety. it’s gonna be tougher to reach v. Bradley who should but doesn’t necessarily have a huge and loyal fanbase but maybe it’s time for the westside to rally around a native son. if that happens, 500k is possible. 1 million isn’t going to happen for this weak card and business-related headliner.

Posted April 11, 2014 9:53 am

1.2 million is a low estimate. Manny Pacquiao is without a doubt the biggest, most popular athlete in the entire world. The man creates news where ever he goes. He is the biggest draw ever. Add millions more to the PPV numbers because millions do not purchase the fight, but still love Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquaio is the most loved athlete in the sports world. He is th eONLY 8 division boxing champion in history. He is the most exciting and entertaining boxer in history. This fight is all about Manny Pacquiao. Timothy Bradley is who again??? He has no following. Manny is the draw and the appeal in this fight as he is in all fights. I am in Las Vegas and Manny Pacquiao has generated a type of electricity that can run every electrical piece of equipment in it. Manny Pacquiao takes the headache away from aspirin. Saturday night you will see what I have been clamoring about over the last year. The doubters and haters will be on their knees apologizing to Manny Pacquiao. The fighting Filipino is on a mission that will be conquered in stunning fashion. The wait is over. I’m cruising down the street in Manny Pacquiao attire, and all I see is Manny fans. It’s a sea of the proud Filipino people. Las Vegas has been taken over by “MANNY MANIA.” Forget what’s happening all over the world. Manny takes center stage like never before. Sin City has been cleansed by an angel. I will be at the weigh-in tomorrow, and that place is going to erupt with emotions and cheers of “Manny, Manny, Manny, Manny, Manny.” And I will be taking the lead. It’s an unbelievable feeling just being in a place where the greatest fighter of all time is going to make history. My emotions are running high with anticipation of the biggest fight in boxing history. I am at the casino right now and have put down a chunk of saved money on the knockout to come. I know there will be doubters, but trust me, Manny is punching as lethal as ever. Sparring partners have been sent to hospitals. Shot gun blasts have been heard coming from the gym only to see manny hitting those mitts. The power is there. The passion is there. The desire to take back his title and reclaim the title of P4P the greatest fighter today will be placed back onto Manny’s head. This is a legend that does the impossible. Don’t bet against him ever. Timothy Bradley is a sheep being led to the slaughter house, someone please tell him. Please have the hospitals and ambulances ready to go. This may end badly for him. Manny Pacquiao is a roaring lion ready to feast on his prey. Manny will win this fight by stunning and brutal fashion. The King is Back! The King is Back! Trust me on this. Manny Pacquiao will take the world by storm, the desert storm that is. Manny is the best!

Manny* did try and do things the easy way and got taken to school and paddled by Marquez in III. he knew it. it was Pacquiao’s* sense of shame and humiliation that compelled him to agree to IV and another lopsided payday in his favor BUT also the worse KO Loss in Boxing History that won’t be forgotten for a Millinillion years.

Posted April 11, 2014 1:43 am

Napioa aka Plankman

Marquez school Paquioa in all 4 fights. Pacquioa can not fight counterpunchers. In the last one he nearly killed him. Your point? Bradley, Marquez & Mayweather (counterpunchers) would/DID school Pacquioa.

Posted April 10, 2014 10:36 pm

Titopa my friend, boxers like Mayweather schooled him, Chris John schooled him, Bradley boxed him and schooled him. Manny is a boxer puncher but wants to fight you 99% of the time. If he wanted to box, he would have ran circles around Marquez as he did against Rios. Marquez is horrible and can’t catch up to anyone with movement. He’s always off balance. Manny would have shut him out 12 rounds to zero had he wanted to do things the easy way.

Last time I saw a fight in Vegas was in 2003, the rematch between De La Hoya and Mosley…if I recall correctly, that fight was sold out which is why I went to a closed circuit. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Posted April 10, 2014 7:42 pm

Hidalg0 – They do closed circuits for fights that are NOT sold out?

Posted April 10, 2014 7:36 pm

Ticket sells are lousy
Posted April 10, 2014 5:15 pm

How could that be. On Feb 6th 70% of the tickets were already sold. Where are you getting your info?.”

There are only a few hundred seats that are unsold as of today. Remember, the MGM Grand arena seats about 17,000 spectators. Tickets for watching the fight on closed circuit TV in the MGM Grand Ballroom are sold out.

Posted April 10, 2014 7:09 pm

“They don’t owe Top Rank or Bob Arum anything when it comes to business.

Livershot, Arum is an expert at what he does. When it comes to promoting, he knows what he’s talking about. Even if we don’t like him.

Posted April 10, 2014 7:03 pm

Hecdog “Marquez has terrible feet, boxers can easily beat him”…if it’s so “easy”, why couldn’t Pacquiao do it? It took Pacquiao 42 rounds to try to beat Marquez, and STILL couldn’t do it. C’mon! Give me a break.

Posted April 10, 2014 6:44 pm

Trust me on this gentlemen. This fight will have a lot of action, and both will go at it from the start, but Timothy Bradley has underestimated Manny Pacquaio. He is under the false pretense that Manny has slipped and lost his killer instinct. Timothy believes he has gaine valuable experience in the Marquez and Provodnikov fight, but he hasn’t. Provodnikov had him beat, and IMO, did beat him. He showed that a fighter can be concussed and still continue to fight. He didn’t improve, but regressed in this fight. Timothy boxed well in the Marquez fight, but Marquez has horrible feet. Boxers can easily beat him. Bradley didn’t overwhelm him, he just fought a style that Marquez is horrible with. Both fight styles Timothy Bradley used have no barring on his upcoming fight with Manny Pacquiao. Bradley actually believes that he’s seen everything Manny has to offer. He says that Manny can’t hit that hard and that he’s not that great, and I truly believe that Bradley believes that. Great! This is why I say that Manny will dominate Bradley and beat him in stunning fashion. Bradley is going to not back down and make a fight of it. Joel Diaz also thinks he can mimic Manny Pacquiao’s style on the mitts. Great! He’s out of his mind. A fight is a totally different challenge, but Joel actually believes he gave Bradley the exact duplicate of Manny Pacquiao. Trust me on this, Manny is going to hit Bradley often and hard from the get go. Bradley will get brave until he gets caught, and then he will look for cover. Manny is going to walk him down and slowly and bruatally chop him down. Manny is as motivated as he’s ever been. The jab, straight left hand and the uppercuts will eventually stop him. You will see how a deafening crowd that supports Manny Pacquiao will bring more out of Manny Pacquiao than ever seen before. The crowd around the world, and his beautiful wife Jinkee have given Manny an insurmountable emotional lift that will turn Manny into a monster on April 12th. The MGM Grand will be on fire, and Manny will step up to the plate and give all of us a fight to remember. Manny Pacquiao will take his proper seat as P4P King of the ring. The greatest pure fighter in boxing history. The only 8 division boxing champion ever. Manny Pacquiao takes back his rightful throne. Manny is the best. I’m on my flight tomorrow dressed in full Manny Pacquiao attire. Manny is the best!

Tunes – You mean, “Top Rank goes on to match Pac with Marquez, Bradley vs Provo II and Alvarado vs Rios III”….that fool Rob Arum’s just gonna recycle fights. Weak sauce.

Posted April 10, 2014 6:26 pm

Pac to win on points but scores a few knock downs. Then Pac goes on to fight marquez and get revenge with a knock out. Mayweather stays at showtime fighing bums.. wish he would grow some balls

Octavius Jomar Chatman – Another good point, and that’s coming from a Pacquiao fan? That’s gotta be the first LOL. You’re right, Floyd is NO ONE without his team, his team being his manager(s) and GBP….there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with knowing you can’t carry a PPV event by yourself, plus, as boxing fans we don’t want ONE good fight, we want 3 or 2 at the minimum…so when people say Floyd “needs” other popular fighters on his cards to sell, I say “that’s GREAT that he needs them, that just means we get better PPV cards”.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:33 pm

Bob is a bottom line guy. Always looking at what’s left for him. He could give a rat’s ass how much total revs are or how much anyone else gets.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:30 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman

Mayweather as good of a fighter he is knows he can’t sell a card all by himself; why you think he tries to make sure the card is stacked as much as possible. Sure; when he fought Canelo; folks wanted to see that fight; but it made the card that much better with Mattysse and Garcia battling it out on it. Same with this upcoming card. He got Khan and Collazo on there and some others as well. It’s going to be a great show. Folks will walk away feeling they got their money’s worth. All parties will be happy because they all making tons of money.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:28 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman – Solid points. I guess it also doesn’t help that he’s going about this ALL WRONG, talking about the MGM grand to the media is foolish and unprofessional, he was also being disrespectful. If he has a problem with them, he should zip his lips and talk to them…they way he’s going about it is just going to make him HAVE to find other venues.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:28 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman

@Titopa; I agree. Some folks let their bias feelings for a fighter cloud their judgement. I feel like MGM is basically sticking it to Arum like Arum stuck it to them. He basically told them to kiss his ass and took his show on the road; when things didn’t quite work out; now he comes running back and expects to be accepted with open arms. Secondly; everyone is trying to make money including the MGM. If he wants to have them CHAMPION him and his fighters; he better start doing his job and PROMOTE the event. Don’t just give them one good fight give them A HELL OF A SHOW…A GOOD CARD PERIOD!!!!

Posted April 10, 2014 5:25 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman – True. But on the business side of things, I HATE to say this but Bob Arum does have a point…if they MGM decides to stop doing business with Arum, that’s fine, but you can’t take the money from Top Rank AND the sponsors (Tecate) and then go have their competitors products and posters plastered all around the venue…that’s also not right. But it’s still pretty funny seeing it happen to ROB Arum LOL

Posted April 10, 2014 5:23 pm

If ticket sales are lousy

Posted April 10, 2014 5:22 pm

Then the fans are stupid cause this will be a great fight.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:21 pm

Havoc – That’s not GBP’s and Floyd’s fault, that’s the MGM’s fault…they’re in charge of that, you act like Floyd got a ladder and did it himself.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:20 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman

I sit here on the pages and other sites all the time and hear people knock Floyd for fighting this one and that one and getting into debates about who sells more PPVs. WELL…Arum needs to swallow his pride and take a page out of his former pugilist book and start putting on a hell of a show and weigh in. Say what you want about Floyd and DLH promotions but they are some marketing geniuses.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:20 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman

@Peej; but that’s his fault. It’s his responsibility to put on an awesome card. You can’t just grab people’s attention with just ONE fight; not with the outrageous money being asked for PPV and attending fights nowadays. People want their money’s worth.

Posted April 10, 2014 5:17 pm

Ticket sells are lousy

Posted April 10, 2014 5:15 pm

Arum is just upset cause to let sales are lousy

Posted April 10, 2014 4:44 pm

Octavius Jomar Chatman

So let me get this straight. Arum is upset with the MGM because they have posters for Mayweather vs Maidana up already. LOL…This is the same man that disrespected the MGM not too long ago and went on a rant about how his fighter was paying too many taxes here in the states; so he was taking his show elsewhere (CHINA). We all know how that went as far as the PPV numbers and what have you; now he comes back and expects them to kiss his ass and show him all this love??? Mind you Floyd had fought in that building TEN TIMES and brings TONS of money to them when he fights; in fact he brings TONS of money to that city when he fights!!!! Bob is FUNNY :)

Posted April 10, 2014 2:47 pm

Manny “Fighter of Floyd’s prime decade” Pacquiao – Thanks for not being the typical Pacquiao fan who goes on a tangent and starts attacking me personally. Yeah, it’s definitely more of a winnable fight for Pacquiao, but I just feel that Bradley’s style will trouble him.

Posted April 10, 2014 2:38 pm

Bob Arum.., “HBO (BA) makes a BILLION dollars every 3 months.. Showtime struggles to pay it’s bills.”

Bob likes to boast and denigrate in the same sentence. Why isn’t Pacquiao successful at getting his taxes paid? Do you ever sit down and give Pac financial advice? Since you’re so successful and such a freakin’ genius.

He’s basically saying, “Those idiots over there at Showtime don’t know WTF they’re doing. No wonder everybody likes BA.”

Posted April 10, 2014 2:35 pm

I was watching Captain America and commercials comes on at the beginning and their is a commercial about Floyd vs. Maidana and showing KO’s, powershots in slow motions then Mayweather standing looking at the audience and looking tough and then out of no where a guy shouted hey!, that guy scared of Pacquiao! A few people laugh and heard some says yeah! I give it to Mayweather he is goo in advertising! He must have learned a lot from WWE!

Manny “Fighter of Floyd’s prime decade” Pacquiao

Titopa im kinda thinking along the same lines as your post but odviously from a Pac fans perspective. I dont see any which way Bradley can win judging by the 1st fight so as a Pac fan im curious to see how good Pac will look. Bradley can certainly make it hard for Pac to look good with his movement especially if he just focuses on that and not looking good himself. I actually think thats gonna be Bradleys main strategy.

Posted April 10, 2014 1:44 pm

Bob has finally lost it. LOL Golden Boy and Mayweather Promotions have paid to have their posters up all over Vegas, that’s what promoters do before a fight. The MGM Grand doesn’t put up anything on it’s walls unless they are getting paid to do so. They don’t owe Top Rank or Bob Arum anything when it comes to business. Bob Arum needs to be upset at his own people for not doing the same. Perhaps in the future you should book another venue for your fights or decorate the place promoting your fight the way a promoter is supposed to do

Manny The Magnificent

The One and Only Manny Pacquiao, is the epitome of class and humility, my friends. With World Titles from Flyweight All The Way Up To Light Middleweight, a Truly Astonishing and Astounding never-to-be-repeated Feat, Manny, THE FIGHTER OF THE DECADE of course, will Reclaim his WBO World Welterweight Title on Saturday night as he befuddles and bewilders the brave Tim Bradley to a Clear and Comprehensive defeat in Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the World. Manny, like Mack the Knife, is back in town, babyyyyyyyy! Back In His Spiritual Home. Ready to Rumble, ready to Rock n Roll, ready to ply his trade as ONLY He can…Manny will, once again, be THE DANCING DOMINATING DESTRUCTIVE DEVASTATING DESTROYER OF OLD, A PEERLESS PUNISHING PRECISE PUNCHING PURVEYOR OF PERFECTION. He’s going to bob ‘n weave, dance, showboat, spin, punch in high volume as he overwhelms Tim Bradley, hit and not be hit, he’s going to be throwing punches in bunches with bad intentions, he’s going to be quick and slick, with all the tricks, as he teases and torments his hapless foe. Manny ‘The Pacman’ Pacquiao will be The Fearless Ferocious Fighting Filipino Phenomenon of old as he Climbs the Mountain yet again to scale the Heights of UNPARALLELED GREATNESS. Manny is, quite simply, THE BEST.

I really think Bradley’s gonna make Pacquiao look terrible, win or lose, Pacquiao’s NOT going to look like he did against Rios. Unlike Rios, Bradley’s has good feet and knows how to move around the ring in angles….if in fact, he did hurt his ankle(s) in the first fight, I can only imagine the movement he’s going to give Pacquiao this time around. I can’t really say Bradley’s going to win cause I’m not quite sure he’ll throw enough, but anything’s possible. We’ll see. It’s a toss up IMO.

Posted April 10, 2014 11:42 am

Pac is vulnerable when he’s too aggressive so he really needs to fight smart.

On the other hand, I hope they have a wheelchair, crutches, and an ambulance ready for Tim. I mean, if he wears the wrong color socks or something….

Dan Rafael scored the previous fight 11 to 1. WTF! I think Pac won the fight but not by that margin. Maybe 8 to 4 or even as close as 7 to 5 but no way 11 to 1. Bradleys not the same dude he faced 2 yrs ago. Ruslan and Marquez will vouch on that. Bradley finds ways to win, he’s not pretty, he’s not graceful, he’s pure Tiger Blood. I dont think Pac is a lame duck Pac has a lot of fight in him. But i think TB has just a bit more in the tank to put this fight behind him. Good luck to both men. No excuses just go out and punch it out!

I give respect to both Packman and Bradley. I have to pick Pacquiao only because Bradley was hurt a few times in his past 2 fights. He gets rocked too easily for me to see him win this one HOWEVER, this fight could go either way, and if Packman loses he should hang em up. If Bradley wins, he will hang around for a while but he won’t rule for a long time, If Packman wins, which again, I think he will, he also won’t be around very long… and a Mayweather fight will never happen in my opinion but if it did Mayweather would make him look foolish. So, over all, the future really doesn’t look good for either one . Would Bradley ever agree to fight Canelo, .. I doubt it, and if he did, it would be his biggest mistake …… “The Language of the Ring”… a book for anyone who loves the fight game
