“The advantage Pacquiao has is exactly what he had in the first fight.. People think he’s an ATG.. ”
Not only that, Tark. Another boig advantage that Pac has is that he is much more liked by mainstream boxing fans than Tim Bradley. Did you watch the weigh-in today? The whole audience was madly cheering for Manny and chanting his name, then booed with equal enthusiasm when Bradley stepped up to the scales. People don’t like Bradley. Being the huge crowd favorite should help to motivate Manny to beat smelly Bradley convincingly.Posted April 12, 2014 1:10 am
Gentlemen, maybe I wasn’t clear when I said 1.2 million is low. I was trying to explain say that 1.2 million PPV is a low ESTIMATE. I believe that number will be much higher. I never sell Manny Pacquiao short ever. As some of you said, Manny has millions of fans that don’t even get accounted for because they can’t even afford to buy PPV. Manny is the biggest draw in boxing period when you take every fan into account, and just not the PPV numbers. And thank those of you that have wished me a happy birthday. I feel like I’m amonf family walking through these casinos. Manny Pacquiao fans all over. Manny Mania is on fire! Have a great day gentlemen.Posted April 11, 2014 7:00 pm
Fat Dan and Bug Eyed Kellerman in a breakdown. Who is the top and who’s the bottom of this man sandwich?Posted April 11, 2014 6:59 pm
“Difficult for Bradley to get a decision this time around if the fight is anywhere close due to Pacquiao getting the shaft last time.”
That’s always thin reasoning to count on. Judges like to think, “I’m objective. I don’t let things like that sway me.” They might see a close round and think, “Gotta give that one to Bradley based on his ring generalship and defense.”
The advantage Pacquiao has is exactly what he had in the first fight.. People think he’s an ATG.. Most will be more impressed at anything Manny does than anything Bradley does — although maybe not as fanatically impressed as Jim Lampley.
The fact is, judges also have their favorites. That fan mentality often overrides their poor knowledge and scoring expertise.
But a boxing judge once told me a well dressed fellow came to his house and tried to give him 1500 dollars cash — for placing 4th in a drawing that the judge hadn’t participated in. He turned the money down and told the man he never filled out any such card, or entered the drawing. The man said “all right then, it’s my money… I’ll take it” slid the 1,500 into his own wallet and walked off.
He said the strange incident puzzled him for a while, but he concluded… “I believe somebody was testing me… testing my openness to bribery.”Posted April 11, 2014 6:14 pm
Manny is all over the place. Everywhere you turn to look, Manny’s face is there. This is a legend still in his prime. Okay gentlemen, Manny Pacquiao will show why he is the only 8 division boxing champion in the history of the sport on Saturday night. This is not your average elite boxer that is going in for a win. Manny Pacquiao is a super human type of athlete that comes around once in a lifetime. You will be impressed with just how much power and speed he has. Timothy Bradley does not have the style, ability, power or ring smarts to beat him. Manny will beat him in all phases of the fight. Speed, power, boxing, movement and his superb defense. Yes, his defense will astound people. He will seem like one of those Indy Race Car drivers that sees the crash up ahead and cars crashing and flying all over the place, but he manages to avoid everyone of them by mere inches and goes on to win. Manny will not only make Bradley miss, but the punishment he’s going to put on him will be hard to see. Manny will slowly and systematically break Bradley down quickly. This fight as i have said can end as early as the 4th round or no later than 9 rounds. You will see greatness perform in the ring. Manny Pacquiao will separate himself from all current and past champions with this one fight because it will be a tough, tough, fight until the end. Bradley will get a bit too brave and the end will come fast. Manny Pacquiao will have his hands raised triumphantly. There will no longer be any questions about his ability. No more questions about his health, age, durability, power or anything else to doubt this fighting machine. People will understand why he is the standard all all boxers will be compared to much in the same manner as Sugar Ray Robinson. Manny is just so much bigger than life. He embodies pureness, integrity, honor, love, justice and peace in the world. This victory is more than just a win. This is for those people that need hope. People that have nothing. and want someone to show them that it’s possible. Manny Pacquiao will dominate this fight, and life will be a bit brighter. Trust me on this. Manny is the best!Posted April 11, 2014 4:52 pm
ONE THING FOR SURE, BRADLEY IS UGLIER.Posted April 11, 2014 3:38 am
1.2 million is a low estimate. Manny Pacquiao is without a doubt the biggest, most popular athlete in the entire world. The man creates news where ever he goes. He is the biggest draw ever. Add millions more to the PPV numbers because millions do not purchase the fight, but still love Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquaio is the most loved athlete in the sports world. He is th eONLY 8 division boxing champion in history. He is the most exciting and entertaining boxer in history. This fight is all about Manny Pacquiao. Timothy Bradley is who again??? He has no following. Manny is the draw and the appeal in this fight as he is in all fights. I am in Las Vegas and Manny Pacquiao has generated a type of electricity that can run every electrical piece of equipment in it. Manny Pacquiao takes the headache away from aspirin. Saturday night you will see what I have been clamoring about over the last year. The doubters and haters will be on their knees apologizing to Manny Pacquiao. The fighting Filipino is on a mission that will be conquered in stunning fashion. The wait is over. I’m cruising down the street in Manny Pacquiao attire, and all I see is Manny fans. It’s a sea of the proud Filipino people. Las Vegas has been taken over by “MANNY MANIA.” Forget what’s happening all over the world. Manny takes center stage like never before. Sin City has been cleansed by an angel. I will be at the weigh-in tomorrow, and that place is going to erupt with emotions and cheers of “Manny, Manny, Manny, Manny, Manny.” And I will be taking the lead. It’s an unbelievable feeling just being in a place where the greatest fighter of all time is going to make history. My emotions are running high with anticipation of the biggest fight in boxing history. I am at the casino right now and have put down a chunk of saved money on the knockout to come. I know there will be doubters, but trust me, Manny is punching as lethal as ever. Sparring partners have been sent to hospitals. Shot gun blasts have been heard coming from the gym only to see manny hitting those mitts. The power is there. The passion is there. The desire to take back his title and reclaim the title of P4P the greatest fighter today will be placed back onto Manny’s head. This is a legend that does the impossible. Don’t bet against him ever. Timothy Bradley is a sheep being led to the slaughter house, someone please tell him. Please have the hospitals and ambulances ready to go. This may end badly for him. Manny Pacquiao is a roaring lion ready to feast on his prey. Manny will win this fight by stunning and brutal fashion. The King is Back! The King is Back! Trust me on this. Manny Pacquiao will take the world by storm, the desert storm that is. Manny is the best!Posted April 11, 2014 3:24 am
If we end up getting another controversial decision but this time in Manny’s favor then Arum will start thinking rubber match.
I mean anything can happen in boxing but I find it interesting that so many people seem certain that Manny is going to score a KO when he hasn’t had once since 2009. And Roach has Manny stopping all of his opponents when he makes his predictions. I still think Manny is a very good fighter but he’s not the same guy he was even 3-4 years ago. But even a half as good Manny is still a tough fighter to face.Posted April 11, 2014 3:09 am
Bernstein & Tarver were becoming my favorite commentators. i think Malignaggi can be cultivated to eclipse Kellerman’s profile. he’s getting over that wise-ass 20-something phase and developing into a mature and thoughtful commentator with frequently excellent insight. the inside dope about the mental and emotional aspects of what’s going on in the ring. i like the way he sometimes analyzes fighter the way some experts analyze baseball pitchers and perhaps that’s the point. Paulie’s a pro. Paulie (and Tarver) is an expert and Bernstein is a real boxing scholar. Kellerman is neither but perhaps the well-connected fan profile is what they’re going for(?).Posted April 11, 2014 1:31 am
Bradley landed only 20 more punches than Marquez did, and those were jabsPosted April 11, 2014 12:03 am
pac is simply greater than bradley in every conceivable way and this dude below starts talking hbo conspiracy. LOL
WOW!Posted April 10, 2014 10:20 pm
Man Paq is really afraid of Jenki- During that 24/7 there were about 1000 damn philips in that one house, and everyone of them had a penis. There was not one woman for about three thousand miles. You see all of them were older men- waiting to get their chance to massage the Pac Man. Weird. At the top of the stairs there was a 40 foot “Glamour” Shot Picture of Jenki watching over her little puppy Manny- Dude got his balls taken away for ever. He know if she divorces him its over. Most people don’t know that the Philippines like most Pacific Island cultures is run by the Woman. That is why I laugh when I see these dude on here talking all tough, cause I know they had to get permission from their wives to even be on the computer. They talk “ish”about Maywether- But I would rather live his life, than be miserable in a house with a bunch old criminal politician trying to curry favor. They aren’t even his friends. Wait till he losses he will be alone, and you wont see one of those dudes helping him with his taxes and debt….Funny Sad and weird at the same time.Posted April 10, 2014 10:01 pm
In every fight HBO sends out a memo to its announcers and tells them what the corporate position is, and how they should call the fight. You will hear all three commentators from the start of the broadcast until the end- speaking of how Pacquiao is the better fighter, and you will hear them basically cheer for everything Pacquiao does, and while doing so, avoid mentioning anything positive for Bradley. This is done every fight- you can tell who HBO wants to win, by the comments of their announcers. Mark my Words…Max Keller also hold to the party line dictated by Bob after meeting at the deli for a bagel and a smear just before the fight.Posted April 10, 2014 9:49 pm
yeah kellermans garbagePosted April 10, 2014 7:53 pm
Best of luck to both guys. I don’t care who wins, and I hope HBO’s commentators feel the same way, so we get commentating free if too much cheerleading.Posted April 10, 2014 7:24 pm
eh i think bradley beat jmm pretty clearly. jmm struggled to catch bradley with effective shots big time. clear win i would not even entertain a rematch it was too clearPosted April 10, 2014 7:05 pm
“Bradley took Marquez apart in that fight, and I was dismayed by Marquez’s poor sportmanship, once again.”
You need to go back and watch that fight again, Ari111. Bradley threw and landed more but Marquez was much more accurate. It was a narrow win for Bradley and a very close fight overall. Bradley hardly took Marquez apart in that fight.
As regards Marquez’s whining and poor sportsmanship, I agree with you 100%.Posted April 10, 2014 6:59 pm
i think pac seen everything bradley has to offer and beat it once alreadyPosted April 10, 2014 6:48 pm
Trust me on this gentlemen. This fight will have a lot of action, and both will go at it from the start, but Timothy Bradley has underestimated Manny Pacquaio. He is under the false pretense that Manny has slipped and lost his killer instinct. Timothy believes he has gaine valuable experience in the Marquez and Provodnikov fight, but he hasn’t. Provodnikov had him beat, and IMO, did beat him. He showed that a fighter can be concussed and still continue to fight. He didn’t improve, but regressed in this fight. Timothy boxed well in the Marquez fight, but Marquez has horrible feet. Boxers can easily beat him. Bradley didn’t overwhelm him, he just fought a style that Marquez is horrible with. Both fight styles Timothy Bradley used have no barring on his upcoming fight with Manny Pacquiao. Bradley actually believes that he’s seen everything Manny has to offer. He says that Manny can’t hit that hard and that he’s not that great, and I truly believe that Bradley believes that. Great! This is why I say that Manny will dominate Bradley and beat him in stunning fashion. Bradley is going to not back down and make a fight of it. Joel Diaz also thinks he can mimic Manny Pacquiao’s style on the mitts. Great! He’s out of his mind. A fight is a totally different challenge, but Joel actually believes he gave Bradley the exact duplicate of Manny Pacquiao. Trust me on this, Manny is going to hit Bradley often and hard from the get go. Bradley will get brave until he gets caught, and then he will look for cover. Manny is going to walk him down and slowly and bruatally chop him down. Manny is as motivated as he’s ever been. The jab, straight left hand and the uppercuts will eventually stop him. You will see how a deafening crowd that supports Manny Pacquiao will bring more out of Manny Pacquiao than ever seen before. The crowd around the world, and his beautiful wife Jinkee have given Manny an insurmountable emotional lift that will turn Manny into a monster on April 12th. The MGM Grand will be on fire, and Manny will step up to the plate and give all of us a fight to remember. Manny Pacquiao will take his proper seat as P4P King of the ring. The greatest pure fighter in boxing history. The only 8 division boxing champion ever. Manny Pacquiao takes back his rightful throne. Manny is the best. I’m on my flight tomorrow dressed in full Manny Pacquiao attire. Manny is the best!Posted April 10, 2014 6:40 pm
showtime should offer merchant a deal then they would have the best crew. as it is both hbo and showtimes crew is garbage. i would like to see someone like cris byrd or monte barret sitting in than paulie malinaggi and roy jones. i can think of a ton of other fighters i would rather hear their perspectives than roy and pauliePosted April 10, 2014 6:09 pm
Peej: you’re right! If you have great speed and power use it more than and less defending. If you don’t have power then boy you better learn defense cause you’re going to need it! Very well said Peej!Posted April 10, 2014 6:06 pm
kellerman does not compare to merhant. i liked kellerman in his espn days. he seems to go with the most popular guy everyfight and this is no different.
but kellermans right. pac should win and should be favored to win. of course guys like peej, anonymous, and te tumbo* are gonna hate on pac who beat bradleys a$$ last time out so bad i have not seen anyone with a strait face say bradley won but bradley himselfPosted April 10, 2014 6:04 pm
Kellerman is pretty knowledgable about boxing. He knows his history. But he is obviously gonna comment on the guy that will bring more money to HBO which is PacPosted April 10, 2014 4:40 pm
Pac has better power and Bradley has better defense. That is the only differencePosted April 10, 2014 4:38 pm
Kellerman? LOL. Kellerman and Lampley are Laurel & Hardy of HBO Boxing.Posted April 10, 2014 4:12 pm
Octavius Jomar Chatman
Of course Kellerman is going to sing praises for Pacman. Kellerman has do subscribe and go with what’s best for HBO because he is one of their front men. Kellerman doesn’t know what he is talking about.Posted April 10, 2014 4:07 pm
HBO and there whole natzi staff are all fu**n racist against color people …….Posted April 10, 2014 3:47 pm
Kellerman’s a tard. HBO blew it in making him the new voice of the network. If he’s an analyst I’m a philosopher.Posted April 10, 2014 3:39 pm
i still have no idea what qualifies Kellerman to represent boxing except that the qualifications(?) of recognized “experts” is so low or virtually non-existent. Kellerman is a shilling nuthugger. easily influenced by hype and his own overactive imagination.Posted April 10, 2014 3:28 pm
I see the fight being close with Manny getting the better of Bradley and the judges agreeing with him this time around. Good luck to both men.Posted April 10, 2014 3:14 pm
Kellerman is clueless. Bradley has the best way to win. Don’t get sparked out and corrupt judges will give him the stinking false win againPosted April 10, 2014 3:00 pm
Let’s see how this fight will go. Both fighters claim they will have to step it up and be more aggressive, and more decisive, but who knows what’s gonna happen when the bell sounds. Manny was aggressive with JMM, and we all saw what happened. Bradley was more aggressive with Provo and he got another gift decision.
Mayweather and GBP fights are all shady! We need the FBI!Posted April 10, 2014 2:48 pm
Marquez is a counter puncher! Floyd outbox him and so does Bradley! Manny don’t have any problem with boxer. He is an offensive machine. Most boxer reduce to just running, holding or blocking. The only reason Pac lose is because Marquez is a powerful counter puncher not a boxer. So I’m agreeing with Max Kellerman!Posted April 10, 2014 2:26 pm
Interesting article, but the analysis is debatable for the following reasons:
1. Bradley outboxed and outclassed Marquez in their fight. Quite franklly, in my opinion, the judges were far too generous in terms of scoring rounds for Marquez. Bradley took Marquez apart in that fight, and I was dismayed by Marquez’s poor sportmanship, once again.
2. At some point in time, Bradley should be given some credit for the success that he has accrued with his boxing style. He takes on and beats all comers, whether it be Provodnikov, an undefeated Devon Alexander, and all others. He is extraordinarily fit, physically strong, and demonstrates a tremendous will to win. It kind of reminds of Evander Holyfield in that regard.
3. I believe that this will be an excellent fight. Pacquiao is an amazing fighter, Bradley is a tough, skilled competitor, and there is a lot riding on this match for both fighters.
Just to be clear, I thought that Pacquiao beat Bradley in the last fight, and I think that he should be favored in this one as well. Nonetheless, because Bradley is so tough, quick, and skilled, I believe that the fight will be much more competitive than others are suggesting.Posted April 10, 2014 2:17 pm
Bradley is undefeated and you can bet you will see the best bradly you have ever seen on fight night. Bradley by decision or ko, likely by close unaimous or split decision. Go bradley.Posted April 10, 2014 2:12 pm
The only thing I disagree with, is that Bradley’s win over Marquez was “cheap” Bradley simply picked his spots and outboxed Marquez.Posted April 10, 2014 2:00 pm
Pacquiao has never said one negative word about Bradley. Major control.Posted April 10, 2014 1:57 pm
