May weather needs Pacquiao to make his pathetic and boring fights exciting that’s why people are clamoring for the fight to happen.the only problem this won’t happen because Floyd is scared he might be paralyzed or even be in a coma from the powerful hands of the Asian boy wonder

Manny Pacquiao is clearly the greatest fighter in the history of boxing. He has accomplished more than any boxer in history, His physical boxing skills, abilities and talent can be matched by no one. He has carried and dominated this beautiful sport for over 10 years. His convincing, spectacular victory of Timothy Bradley last weekend closed the door on who was the better fighter. Manny Pacquiao has no more questions left to answer. The vast majority of boxing fans come to the same conclusion as I do. There has never been a better fighter that fought all challengers regardless of weight class, and brought more excitement to boxing than Manny Pacquiao. Boxing was in a frenzy every time Manny Pacquiao entered the squared circle to take on, and beat yet another world class fighter. He is the number UNO P4P fighter today. His tax issues are being resolved, and he will not be in need of money. His future is secure, trust me. He has so many avenues outside of boxing to make a living from. His endorsement deals are very rewarding financially. He is the most sought after person in the world today. His influence in society continues to make it’s way into every stitch of society. Manny Pacquiao is more than just a hero to everyone, he’s a blanket that clothes peoples hearts. Manny Pacquiao has an aura about him that speaks of love, respect and humility. Manny is a fighter that puts his heart and soul into each fight and asks for nothing in return. He continues to have the discipline and honor he’s always had for the sport of boxing. Manny Pacquaio is a good man in a bad sport. Corruption is always around the corner waiting to get him, but he is the only fighter I can recall that keeps his integrity and loyalty to his friends, family and those that gave him the opportunity to make a living. This is a true and genuine man that will stand up for what’s right in the face of death. We will see the greatest fighter in history fight again. He doesn’t need the arrogant, selfish, materialistic, money hungry Floyd Mayweather. He doesn’t need whining, crying, cheating, lying Juan Manuel Marquez. They need him. Manny Pacquiao has graced us with his presence for many years. I will send a letter asking congress and president Obama to have a day of celebration for Manny Pacquiao once he calls it a day. Manny Pacquiao will break a lot of hearts, and the world must create more oceans so that the tears of Manny Pacquiao will fill them up once he’s retired. Trust me, there will never be another Manny Pacquiao. And also trust me when i say that Manny Pacquiao has a little more work to finish. Manny is the best ever!

Some people discredit Manny Pacquiao about “No KO since Cotto in 2009; no more killer instinct, etc.” I think those are just B.S. In fact, PAC has become a COMPLETE FIGHTER, offensively and defensively with INTELLIGENCE to adjust to control his opponents. To me, PAC is a much better fighter now than before. PAC will beat Mayweather anytime, anywhere. Since Mayweather was scared of the old PAC, I am sure Mayweather is even MORE SCARED of the CURRENT, COMPLETE PAC.

If Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happens, which I doubt it, we will see PAC in control until Mayweather is dropped and the fight is over.

Posted April 17, 2014 11:10 am

I was very impressed with Bradley of his Speed, Power, Movement, Boxing Skills and Warrior. He is a MUCH BETTER boxer than Mayweather now, but he STILL GOT SCHOOLED BY A SUPERIOR FIGHTER, MANNY PACQUIAO.

I am sure Bradley will BEAT Mayweather now or in the future. Bradley is quicker, faster, same level of boxing skills, much higher confidence level, and has more power than Mayweather.

Posted April 17, 2014 10:58 am

Rocky V

None of the Mayweather’s 46 opponents was/is at the level of PAC. NONE.

If this fight does happen, but I doubt it because Mayweather is scared of PAC, PAC would beat Mayweather easily via a KO because the “Style Makes Fights.” Team Mayweather knew that so well that’s why they are on the run when it comes to fighting Pacquiao.

Posted April 17, 2014 10:36 am

Chicken Eater

When the EAGLE(Pacquiao) flies by, the chicken (Floyd)runs into the shed. Period.

I am not making things up; mayweather has repeated admitted his fear of Manny Pacquiao:

“I am concerned of my health if I fight Manny Pacquiao….,” said Mayweather.

“The drug testing stuff, the feud with [Bob] Arum… I mean, yea, I hate that guy, but it was a plan, a blueprint,” said Mayweather last week.

“The plan was for me to stay unbeaten, become the biggest star in the sport, and wait for Pacquiao to lose in the meantime. I knew it would happen, and it did,” said Mayweather last week.

“Cotto took a real beating in that fight, he probably didn’t recover for years. It wasn’t something I needed to do, and I didn’t need Pacquiao to help my legacy. I already have my legacy, period,” said Maycoward last week.

You want another 16 MORE?

Why Floyd Mayweather is not the best fighter pound for pound

By Paul Mercke On April 15, 2014 · In Boxing
… .

Professional BoxingNow that Manny Pacquiao has “officially” defeated Tim Bradley, talks come to life again about the Megamillion fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. But first, we have to establish who’s number one.

According to pundits, Mayweather is the anointed one. In my books, he is NOT. Definitely NOT. Why?

When you define the word best in its purest form, it is the top of the heap, the cream of the crop. And in order to be on top, you should have defeated all your opponents that’s at least in the top 5. Conclusion, Floyd is a good fighter but not the best. When you keep on ducking opponents that can beat you, you cannot even be considered a ‘fighter’. Look at the UFC for instance; these guys are fighters in its purest form. They fight whoever is in their cards and lay it all on the line whoever they’re fighting with. How can you prove you’re the best when you haven’t been fighting with the best of the best. Now, nobody can argue that Pacquiao is one of the best. He has defeated all of the best fighters in the divisions he has been involved. He will not back down on any opponent and gives his all on every fight. Except for Floyd , who has time and again found every reason on the book to chicken out . What can make him fight Pacquiao? If he is a ‘real’ fighter, he will accept even a 50/50 share of the purse to prove to us all boxing aficionados that he can ‘really’ fight. Unbeaten means nothing if you’re beating has beens and unproven boxers. I hope he gains enough willpower and enough mojo to see the big picture and be regarded as really a brave champion. Unbeaten means nothing if in the back of your mind, you did not fight against a champion of the caliber of Pacquiao. But to be realistic and truthful, Floyd and Pacquiao may never materialize because a chicken is always a chicken. Take your pick.

What’s Your Verdict?

Floyd and Pacquiao will fight each other in 2026. In a 50 round death match with brass knuckles. Because by then both will be broke and that’s the only way people will buy their PPV.

Posted April 16, 2014 5:25 pm

Popkins

Floyd takes on the over hyped, still green Alvarez and that’s supposedly the greatest test of Mayweather’s career. Yet for 6 years, almost every time PAC has stepped in the ring he’s been facing bigger framed, high level opponents.

Posted April 16, 2014 4:56 pm

Popkins

Pacquiao’s victories at 140+ r more impressive than Mayweather’s IMO because PAC has the frame of a super featherweight, where as Floyd is a true welterweight. PAC has been at a physical disadvantage in almost every fight he’s had over the last 6 years….

TARKISMS

TARK says,

It’s not how many losses you have… It’s who you BEAT!!! Pacquiao beat Marquez… Cotto… De La Hoya… Bradley… Clottey… Cheato… Mosley… Morales etc…

Yet, another flip flop from our resident turncoat.

TARK has spent years beating up SRR for losing to Tiger Jones, but ignores the fact he beat up Bobo Olson, Gene Fullmer, Carmen Basilio, Randy Turpin, Rocky Graziano, Jake LaMotta, Henry Armstrong and many others.
So, either he is a great fighter or he’s not.

TARK, you can’t change the MEASURING STICK to assess a fighter and then move the goal posts to assess the others!

By the way, SRR went 4-5-1 in his next 10 fights after winning 6 straight after Tiger Jones, admittedly at world level, but at plus 34 years of age it’s clear to me he was on the downward turn, from the Maxim fight.

Posted April 16, 2014 3:24 pm

TARK

This pundit says.., “A victory on that date would equal Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record.

That’s comparing apples and oranges in the worst way.

Floyd fought outstanding opponents who out-weighed him by 15 pounds — including Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, and Oscar De Lay Hoya…

Rocky fought no such reigning world champion caliber opponents who out-weighed — him except Joe Walcott who weighed 197, was 39 years old, and fought Rocky in his last fight.

Rocky had only 7 championship fights to Floyd’s 24 championship fights.

Marciano should have a draw against Roland LaStarza. It was a rounds scoring system and the 10-rounder was split 5-4/5-5/4-5, which is a draw. But because of the leverage Marciano’s manager Al Weill had with the New York commission, a seldom used “supplemental scoring system” was invoked to give Rocky the win.

Most of Marciano’s title challengers were light heavyweights—and past their prime. Don Cockell for instance, was a punching bag who was KO many times before, including by middleweight Randy Turpin. Marciano never fought a heavyweight, who weighed over 200, who actually had any kind of boxing skills.

Besides the ploddingly slow, washed up Joe Louis, there were no outstanding natural heavyweights among Rocky’s 45 opponents—4 of whom he fought twice.

Marciano retired rather than fight Floyd Patterson—a blazing fast, dynamite punching youngster who became the next heavyweight champion. Patterson won the title by polishing off overmatched light heavyweight Archie Moore in 5 dominant rounds—a man who knocked Marciano to the canvas, and went 9 seesaw rounds, in Rocky’s last fight.

than having floyd and pac fight right away and sharing the little 100 million with the fighters. And watch as boxing fans exit boxing nobody watch there match ups.

Here what I belive happen, when they met for the match arum and GBP. They could not come to a agreement, them arum said maybe it best if they don’t fight right away are the fans will leave after the main fight is over. GBP, Floyd, eyes lighted up, damm that a good idea.( remember arum used to alway say when PAC defined Oscar that PAC has brought all the fans back to boxing, and the match with Floyd will be the riches fight in boxing history?)

Gbp said yes We feed them fights building to the match up the fans have return to boxing let’s build up the fight slowly and feed them the fight when they both retire, ( remember making money the best way is a business that pay you monthly)

So both side gbp and top R. have made 10-20 times they would have already, then have the
PAC vs Floyd fight right away, as the 80% fan would leave boxing after the fight.

So they took the money route, there aren’t dumb, both side played us.
Even if they haven played us
The fact is they have made 0ver 500 million from the anticipation of both meeting and the haven fought yet, ather way were the fools and has been on a ride.

PEEJ – the entire point of boxing is to actually see the fights….just because you say that floyd would’ve handled pac on a message board means squat. the fighters have to fight….that’s why they fight…. and since both Mayweather and Pacquiao have moved up to 147, the two best fighters in the division for years have been pac and mayweather…that’s why, in the best interests of the sport, it needs to be settled in the ring and not on an ESB message board….

it amazes me that Floyd fans, being fans of boxing, and regardless of whether they think floyd will win or not, wouldnt want to see that fight!? you think fights against guerrero, Ortiz, Maidana and Khan are better fights than a pacquiao fight? that’s absurd.

Manny will win against Mayweather by decision. Ring generalship will belong to Manny because Mayweather will not initiate the action. I can see Mayweather’s nose bleeding by too many straight left from Manny. I can see that Mayweather covers himself up while Manny rains 8-10 punches on him. Mann is faster than Mayweather. Watch some video of them and compare it without bias. Mayweather is so ordinary. I have not seen him throw 10 punches like Pacquiao. Mayweather is effective only when his opponent stands in front of him. Review de la Hoya-Mayweather fight. DLHoya was ahead after 8 rounds. After that DLHOYA got tired and stands in front of him. From that point on he only to throw 1-2 ,1-2, seldom 1234. What did Pacquiao do to DLHOYA? You know. And you will say because DLHOYA was old already. That’s not my point. My point is Manny Pacquiao throws 10 punches while Mayweather throws only 3 punches at time on opponent who is standing in front of them. That’s why Pacquiao will win by decision.

Floyd vs. Manny is never going to happen. Get over it. And if they do fight, it’ll be when both guys are well past their primes. While I hate Floyd and would love to see him punched unconscious, while twitching and foaming at the mouth, I think he’d beat Manny rather easily. The only guy with a realistic shot to beat him is Sergio Martinez. But if/when Martinez gets his shot, he’d be like 41 or 42 and he’d have to shrink down to 154 lbs. for the first time in many years.

Pac has not been his biggest threat. Floyd would of handled Pac in 09 and he will handle him now. Yeah Pac owns 2 wins over Marquez but one of those wins could of gone the other way. As for the 3rd fight, Marquez clearly beat him and then in the 4th he KOd him. The same Marquez that Floyd toyed with. Floyd is a better counter puncher than Marquez and he sees punches coming better than Marquez. Pac also does not do well against boxers as this has already been proven in his past fights. Floyd dominates Pac. I have been saying that since 09. And if the fight ever does happen, once Floyd wins there will still be nothing but excuses coming out

he was KO’d by his greatest rival, Marquez…….a future HOF’er who has lost to Pacquiao twice already….his other “loss” was not a loss and he just dominated Bradley again, so that argument is irrelevant now…..AND he’ll probably fight MArquez a 5th time in the fall (hopefully) and if he wins that rematch, then the KO argument is also moot. At the end of the day, even though i would favor Mayweather in a fight vs pacquaio at this point, pacquiao is and has been the biggest threat, the biggest money fight and the fight that everyone wants to see…..name another fight that will get anywhere close to a mayweather/pacquaio fight…name one….

Hecubus according to your own terms the Pac is not the best because he has loses on his record. Has been KOd a couple of times and has lost a couple of decisions. So based on your criteria there he is not a viable option for Floyd. Floyd is actually fighting the person who deserves the fight. He used to be the 2nd most deserving fighter but now that Bradley has just lost he jumps to the number 1 position. Yeah Maidana lost to Khan but if they were to rematch I would bet Maidana would KO Khan. If he were to rematch Alexander I would bet he would win a decision against Alexander. He is on a winning streak plus he has a belt. Is he gonna win, no I doubt it. This fight will resemble the Gatti fight in my opinion. Oh and lets not forget Pac and company have turned the fight down on a couple of occasions.

Hecdog….if you call Pacquiao, the greatest fighter ever lived, what will you call the fighter than KOed in a brutal fashion, that he needed smelling salts to wake him up, brain scan to check for clots and his ex prostitiute wife crying at ringside. Do you know who I am taling about? if you dont, He is called Juan Manuel Marquez.

A Garcia – Ortiz, guerrero, Miadana ALL had loses on their records when floyd fought them. Maidanas been beaten by Khan AND alexander and hes the “best” challenger out there? HAHA! Pacquiao got robbed in one fight and lost to a future Hall of Famer (who Pacquiao has also beaten twice)….

Pacquiao is the best opponent for mayweather and its the fight boxing fans have been demanding for years. So tell your girlfriend Mayweather to stop hiding behind your skirt and make the fight happen already and stop the excuses

I can say with almost 100% certainty that Manny Pacquiao is the greatest fighter to ever live. His accomplishments, impact and influence on the sport and the great fighters he defeated leave no doubt in my mind that he is at the top. If you take in all the other factors like amateur experience, quality of trainer and access to quality gyms with quality fighters to work with, Manny is without a doubt the best ever. Can anyone imagine just how much greater Manny would have become if he had been raised in a boxing family like the Mayweathers along with the amateur experience and training in the Untied States. These missing pieces only make Manny Pacquiao stand head and shoulders above all past and present fighters. Manny Pacquiao learned to fight on his own. He became the only 8 division Boxing champion in history. He is at the top, and that accomplishment will never be duplicated again, trust me. A prime Manny Pacquiao had faster hands, better punching power, better agility and movement and more stamina than any fighter in history. If Manny had decided to stay at his best weight(140) that he can still make easily, no one would have ever beaten him. Manny is a miracle man to have stepped up and competed and defeated all those fighters in higher weight classes. Manny Pacquiao pound for pound IMHO is better than SR Robinson, SR Leonard. JC Chavez, H Armstrong, Kostya Tzyu, Tyson, Ali, RJ Junior, F Mayweather and others. Fans all remember Manny’s Reign of Terror as he tore through Barrera, Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya, Margarito, Cotto, Clottey, Diaz, Mosely and others. His fights were the most action packed and exciting ever. Fans flocked from all over the world just to see him fight. Manny Pacquiao has always fought to make his fans happy. He is a warrior that challenged himself and never ran from anyone. Great fighters like Tyson, Roy Jones, Larry Holmes, Marvin Hagler, JC Chavez, Bradley, James Toney, Lennox Lewis, Roberto Duran and many more boxing legends have continually praised Manny Pacquiao. Fighters from all eras ahve been complimentary of this great iconic legend, and that speaks volumes about Manny Pacquiao the fighter and the man. Boxing fans today are lucky to have seen this once in a life time master piece of a fighter step into the ring and display his brilliance, greatness and unbelievable talent. Manny s more than a Picasso, more than a President, more than prodigy. Manny Pacquiao is boxing. I can still see the beautiful face of Dionesia Pacquiao cheering her son on with all of her passion, emotions and love for her son. She had a cross and her picture of baby Jesus as she was concerned for her son and prayed to God that Manny would not be hurt. There is nothing more touching and beautiful than to see a mother praying for her son and feeling each and every punch as if she was being hit. Manny Pacquiao should be proud to have such a loving and caring mother. Dionesia Pacquiao is a blessed lady to have given birth to the greatest fighter in boxing history. Trust me on this. Manny is the best ever!

2016?? Floyd and Manny can go bothto hell. Didn’t pay a penny to see either of their last fights. Boxing doesnt need them. How come boxing only care about main events and MMA promotes all their fights. Undercards are very often a lot better than main fights. IMHO boxing doesn’t need neither Floyd or Manny

A Garcia

Pacquiao already lost and got KO since 2010, Floyd has been consistent with his fights. Pac doesn’t deserve a free pass, Floyd ain’t ducking anyone , he fights whoever the next deserved champion is next in line. Pac had to get back in the line for a big payday he cant cut in line. If Pacquiao had no losses or ko against him since 2010 then Pactards would have some kind of case , but for now just keep following his decline and wait for his turn , he shouu thank Floyd if he gets a shot at him.

Are we teenagers hoping to bang a porn star of our dreams, really? FFS its long gone people get over it. The sooner, they retire the better for the boxing public. Can we please move on. I’m sorry to say when Arum dies things will improve in the American Boxing Scene.

The oracle of Delphi

Who cares if Floyd has a record of 49:0, LMAO. Chavez went over 70 fights without defeat, and there were many other non-Heavyweights who had great, undefeated records before they suffered there 1st loss…

El Grand Campeon

Floyd ‘The Road Runner’ Mayweather, a talented boxer true, but also a modern-day hype machine, a brash smoke n’ mirrors self-promoting showman for the MTV generation, the most shameless P4P #1 ducker in fight history. He will always be primarily remembered for this persona…

i hope this haunts mayweathers legacy forever..it shows how an era when ‘money..hype..and fearness reined a sport that once was ruled by a Gladiator mentality ‘take on all comers. so sad how boxing has diminished to this :(

True fight fans would not and should not even care about it by 2016. The ship has sailed, move along, folks.

Gayweatherr is so much afraid of taking PacMan. He cant be the P4P champ if he handpick his opponent. But if MegaFight happen in 2016, I bet gayweather wins againts aging pacman. Roach is true Pacman only have 85% of his prime

BREAKIN NEWS. Mikey Garcia is taking Top Rank to court for violating The Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act as they have tried to sign him into an indefinite contract extension, meaning he cannot negotiate with any other company even though his contract should be up February of 2014.

Looks like he wants out and is eyeing possibly a link up with Al Haymon or someone else who can give him the remuneration he feels he’s worth. An overlapping contract like the one he has ties him in indefinitely to Top Rank and contravenes the Reform Act.

I hope he wins the case and the house of cards at Top Rank falls into the dust.

We may then get the fights we truly wish to see.

Before you holler, I despise ODLH and Golden Boy even more. How they can be in charge of Ring Magazine in my eyes is a conflict of interest case, right there!

Strip the powers of Top Rank and Golden Boy and we have a more even playing field.
